    • You only had to look at the black friday sale crowds to see why their confidence will be positive, even the poor seem to find money for this and the Xmas sales. Then next year will come and it will slide downs again when the cost of sending your children to school kicks in and the have to pay back the money they borrowed.

    • The demand for protein from China, because of the African Swine Fever in Pigs has killed many pigs.
The demand for NZ beef, lamb, mutton in particular, and also will under pin dairy products also has certainly hit a high, and the usual late winter peak is forecast to continue into the summer.
Many other business’s will see and hear that farmers circumstances are changing, and can see that farming related products, posts, wire, for fencing off those water ways, nurseries for riparian tree plantings contracts, and busy to plant farm forests.
Farm sustainability plans being drawn up, with well paid consultants & advisers, and then Council staff, flocking to check all that over.
Upgrades for some machinery, and of course the house to catch up.
Hopefully some debt paid off, and like all capital expenditure, attracts more taxes.

Any lament is about wool prices, which seem to be so bio degradable. There are world wide protests against “fossil fuel” carpets, & clothing, but the cheaper synthetic designer styles hold sway.
It is a protein, and one twist has been to put it into cat food, which claims to be very healthy for the cat..
Now how can it be feed to humans?, Perhaps to vegans, under the point, that there was no murder done, and just a “hair cut” or like biting finger nails, seeking keratin protein. 🙂
Some how replace sugar, and so more healthy? 🙂

  1. Greta Thunberg misses climate protest after boat hit by high winds
    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/world/2019/11/greta-thunberg-misses-climate-protest-after-boat-hit-by-high-winds.html

Swedish activist Greta Thunberg had been due to join a student strike in Lisbon but her environmentally friendly voyage across the Atlantic from New York by sailboat was hit by high winds, delaying her by a few days, she told her social media followers.

“We wish she’d been here, but the movement has to carry on without her. We’ve got to send our message and pressure politicians ahead of the climate summit,” Marianna Louca, 14, told Reuters.

If Greta had caught a commercial flight she could have been there for the limelight moment. //

Bn, thanks, as losing “free speech” dramatically changes Western Civilization.

The mainstream of Germany’s society, the EU, and much of the Western world, seem to very much follow these policies,
Sadly very believable of Angela Merkel, as the deaf, blind & mute monkey.

Angela Merkel says: we have to take away your freedom of speech, or else society won’t be free.

  3. The Transport Agency is to take over owning and running speed cameras from police.

RNZ reported in May that police no longer wanted to manage the camera network because of rising costs and the belief it did not align with core police work.

The government yesterday announced the transfer of the operations as part of a suite of changes.

These include dropping speed limits around schools, boosting the number of speed cameras and introducing speed camera warning signs.

The government said it expected the changes to become law by the middle of next year.

The Transport Agency said the transition would take about two years to enable a smooth change over – with the cost currently not known.

    • Two years to make a smooth change over……what nonsense. One part of the state apparatus is going to hand over this revenue gathering mechanism to another. We were advised the revenue went to the state, what is the problem that justifies two years of salary costs to get a smooth transition.

As if any road user expects a smooth transition between these outfits. Who would know or care if the transition, let’s call it a transfer, from one to another is smooth. The road user loses either way.

When I think about the present overly restrictive speed limitations imposed by the incoming speed monitoring and infringement issuing agency, I wonder if the correct decision to transfer has been made.

    • That is just great.
Take an organisation that was formed by Annette King in 2008 which combined 2 functioning focused agencies into one unfocused dysfunctional crapola outfit.
Let National ‘do nuffin’ not reverse this decision enacted months before they took over govt in 2008.

Let NZTA roll out and stuff up pretty much all its functions.
Allowed dodgy licencing to occur across the spectrum in taxi licences, car licences, truck licences run mainly by recently arrived corrupt arseholes from India.
Allow the relatively simple process of issuing WOF turn into a broken situation. Tick 18 boxes. Pass /fail.
Simple. Well not where NZTA pokes its nose.

Allow NZTA to ‘supervise’ the building of the Kapiti Expressway to the point it had to be ‘fixed’ within a year.
Kick out the Chairman and replace it with a fixit man. Stiassny. Replacement resigns after a short while.
      CEO stands down in 2018.
Appoint new Chair Brian Roche mid 2019 who presided over the decline of NZ POST for 7 years and made 7 decisions in 7 years – where to hold the Christmas party.
Make Phail Twyford the Minister in charge of all this with the crazy yankee tart as assistant and it is one gigantic cock up.

Now throw in road cameras to this monumental fark up
..what could so wrong when NZTA are in charge?

Print it all, what can go wrong. 🙁

……. In the Extinction Rebellion movement, for example, activists are quite certain they have learned that there is an alternative to markets as the means to economic prosperity. …..
……… we now live in a world where the creation of wealth is seen by many as requiring little more than the creation of more money. ……
…….. nothing should be in short supply, since everything is bought with money and money need not be in short supply.
Those who know only unlimited fiat money soon demand free healthcare and free higher education as a right. And why not?
Unlimited money will pay for it. Into this never-never land comes demands for scrapping the fossil fuel underpinnings of our modern economy by those who understand nothing of how an economy works.
But, apparently one does not need to understand technical limitations, because there are no technical limitations. ……..
…….. only an Ebenezer Scrooge would deny funding the latest demanded government program.
If wealth is so easy to create, many conclude only greed and cruelty are what stand between us and far greater prosperity for all. ……..

I haven’t seen in it, but I will, in the not too distant future.

  11. Wellington gets ANOTHER “tax and spend” mayor

I hear that Wellingtonians kicked out jackboot-licking soyboy Justin Lester only to find that their new Mayor is no better! So little Andy Foster’s solution to the fact that the Government wants as much congestion in Wellington as possible is – wait for it! A new fucking tax! That’s right the little lying bastard kept totally silent about this during his Mayoral campaign, then the moment ‘tax and spend’ Lester is seen off, out comes the mad socialist in Foster with a fucking congestion charge.

Yes! That’s right! I keep on saying we all now know that whoever we vote for is lying to us and that they’ll never let on about the shitty, destructive things they want to impose on us (think Oil & Gas ban) until they get in to office. What I don’t understand is why these lying see you next Tuesdays are so bald-faced about it.

The problem with Wellington’s congestion is not about the volume of traffic, it’s because the fucking NIMBYs stop all and every roading solution that would get ‘through’ traffic bypassing the city centre. Fix the RMA and roads and bypasses get built. Build a fucking overpass over the Basin, remove the fucktard cycle virtue-signalling lanes and return the car parks and the city will flow again – I mean FFS it’s only the size of a small provincial town in most developed nations little Andy – IT’S NOT FUCKING ROCKET SCIENCE!

Well done Wellingtonians, you got rid of one useless lying socialist bastard and you replaced him with another useless, lying socialist bastard.

(Although, I have to admit, I have enjoyed the amazing humiliation of soyboy Lester this year. I mean, has there ever been a more sad sack of shit than him when the PTPM didn’t even know he was a Labour candidate? And the joyous outcome of the recount case, when it turned out that the numbers were not really going to change at all and he was (as usual) proven to be just wasting rate payers money again. How bad do you have to be to have been turfed out after one term, I mean they have dogs in the US as mayors who can get re-elected – but Lester couldn’t!)

    • Wallytonians voted for shit so don’t complain about the stench, on the other hand you can make his life miserable by hassling him on e-mail, his public appearances, at council meetings some may even leave messages on his car/ house etc becomes quite concerning when you become the centre of unwanted attention Foster. Nothing nasty of course just constant reminders of not saying what you really mean – and that can be just as concerning when Foster realises he has legitimised the technique. Foster may even change his mind in response to his public education.

    • Until local body voting is restored to one rates bill, one vote then the results of the last 20 years will continue.

This sensible approach was destroyed by that piece of eternal scum Geoffrey Palmer.
Palmer was so, so bad that not only was he going to lose the 1990 election, they dumped his arse 7 weeks before the election so the loss would not be so bad.
Jeez, even when they dumped angry Andy’s arse he got a cabinet position a few months later!

Nonetheless the damage this nasty critter did in a few years lives with us today on many levels.
Palmer would be in the top five finalists for the worst ever person for NZ.
On a personal level he was a condescending prick but if a pretty girl sidled up he went all cooey.

Either one rates bill, one vote
      or
Scrap rates bill and charge a per resident fee as the main source of council revenue.
Then you can have universal franchise.
      Pay, you get a say.

One rates bill, one vote will have voting rates in local body elections back past 70% turnout as the people care and it is representation for taxation.
It is the easier of the two to administer.
The current method is a Merry Palmer’s* answer!
This dogs breakfast leads to the odious results and will not improve while this is in place.

    • Another MSM Labour sycophant chanting for the PTPM:

“Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern is so well liked that she sends ripples of excitement through groups of jaded civil servants when she meets them in Wellington. So imagine what she’ll be able to do to a crowd of card-carrying Jacindamaniacs (yes, some people actually self-identify as this).”

“The big challenge for the prime minister will be asserting a more lasting influence on the party. Unions still have too much sway. While this is unlikely to be eroded any time soon, plenty in caucus believe that Ardern’s election in 2017, which bypassed unions and members because it was only weeks out from the election, is proof they’ve got a better handle on where the party is than the rank and file. They’re probably right.”

Designed in Sweden and made in Hungary.
        It was 2200 watts.
So, made and designed in the EU at a time when the max power allowed in EU was 1400 watts.
So they make and sell them, just cant buy them.
        Hypocrites.

It was good for 3 years and 3 months.
It had a 3 year warranty
Then died 3 months after that expired it expired.
For over $300 it was a crap deal from Farmers who really sell overpriced crap now. No longer a customer.

I replaced with a $59 one from the Warehouse and that has lasted 3 years to date and even bought a second one at that price to keep in the garage.

        Bugger EU made crap.
        Buy Asian made.

Those under-powered ones are a waste of time. You spend longer vacuuming to get a lesser result.
Use as much electricity for worse results. EU. Huh.

“Rogue truck drivers will be hauled off the roads to protect other motorists in a $72 million safety upgrade.

From 2020, 12 weigh stations will form a national network of checkpoints using new technology targeting illegal trucks and their dishonest drivers.

It comes as the Automobile Association points out that despite trucks making up a small fraction of road users, they are involved in a significantly higher number of fatal or serious crashes.”

    More revenue gathering tricks.
It is not worth trucking firms to take the chance of overloading their weight limits. Fines for commercial trucks overloading are astronomically high. As for accidents, truckies are installing dashcam video to prove accidents are often caused by other drivers erratic and dangerous behaviour around trucks forcing truck drivers to take evasive action to avoid them.

  21. Maori in Oz: Living the good life
    NICOLE PRYOR11:31, Jul 19 2013
Maori are living a “good life” in Australia – one with better pay and a better chance of being highly educated.

The lure of higher wages has led to a rapidly growing Maori population, known as “Mozzies”, across the Tasman, and it is likely to continue, says a University of Waikato study.

Already, about 128,430 Maori live across the ditch, according to Australia’s 2011 census. A Statistics New Zealand estimate put the number of Maori in New Zealand at 682,200 in 2012.

    http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/8937746/Maori-in-Oz-Living-the-good-life?fbclid=IwAR3YtpIR-CxTFJd9MVpv-Gzv8XmcNGz9DHs5eUPSnqtmnMZNlOgjFqYMEd4

Research from Victoria University shows more Maori now live in southern Queensland than Hamilton.

The number of Maori living in Queensland was about the same as the number estimated to be living in Northland in 2011. It is also more than the estimated Maori population in 10 of New Zealand’s 16 regions.

Among New Zealand-born Maori males in Australia, the labour force participation rate was 92.6 per cent, compared with the national figure of 89.8 per cent. For Australian-born Maori males the rates was 87.5 per cent.

Ross12 posted this yesterday. It is very good. The Presidential historian who has written his latest book on Trump and received death threats if he publishes the book. He has interviewed people close to Donald Trump as the official presidential historian. Hubby ordered the book, launched 26 Nov, after watching the interview.

“Any one interested in current USA politics , this is a very good video to watch (about 1 hour long)

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=21&v=FI-aLLG7zXw&feature=emb_title

Doud Wead is described as a Presidential historian as he has interviewed and written books about 6 Presidents. The video is an interview with him about writing his latest, on Trump. Trump gave him full access to all in the White House including his family.”

  22. The latest from little Greta

“After all, the climate crisis is not just about the environment. It is a crisis of human rights, of justice, and of political will. Colonial, racist, and patriarchal systems of oppression have created and fueled it.”

I wonder all those teenagers who cling to every word she says understand what that statement is about ?

    • …And also wonder why they (the Teenagers) can never be as ‘eloquent’ as she is. Having ‘Minders’ helps, especially with the big words, and if English is NOT your first language…

Puppets come ion many forms; one is currently trying to cross the North Atlantic.

  23. London Bridge attacker A known wolf

He was arrested in December 2010 and released on licence (parole) in December 2018, wearing an electronic tag. He had reportedly been invited to attend the Learning Together conference. ….
…… Professor Stephen Toope, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cambridge, said he was “devastated” that an event organised by its Institute of Criminology was targeted in the attack. ……
……. “I am devastated to learn that today’s hateful attack on London Bridge may have been targeted at staff, students and alumni attending an event organised by the University of Cambridge’s Institute of Criminology”. ….
…. the attacker, who police have identified as Usman Khan, was invited to attend the conference and sat through a morning session. …..

So close to the guinea pigs they study.
Those electronic tags might have motivated the attack, with the ongoing radio signals. 🙁

Just read the koran in chronological order, and consider where the effects where Mohammad reveals the “abrogation” verses.

At least the police did listen … One of them [pedestrians] was shouting ‘shoot him in the f***ing head’. ….

          • Yeah, there is making a point and then there is throwing your toys out of the cot and wailing. Say as you will, but I think you are doing your message more harm than good at the moment. And it is a message that shouldn’t be lost to infantile prattling.

            9

            1

              • Well, I happen to think the message about auhoritarian, police states is a valuable one. It has been a threat for generatuons and Ardern has turned it into a reality for us. But I also think you are behaving like a child and that you are harming that message. Downtick away though, whittle away at the support you have.

                • No you don’t and sorry to burst your bubble but I don’t crave support.

The reality is you support an authoritarian organization that actively lobbies successive governments to pass laws to:

                  1. Take our guns.
                  2. Ban free speech
                  3. Censor the internet
                  4. Increase surveillance
                  5. Remove rights
                  6. Give themselves more power and guns to kill us.
                  7. Ban liquor
                  8. By pass courts to allow them to be judge and executioner

I’ve known a lot of cops. All the good ones hate the police. In the big picture it’s a vile government department. A few good cops at the front line dosen’t change that.

Now how about answering my question regarding Muslims?

                  • If you knew how to read, you would see I agree with you on the police.

But I also think you are behaving like an asshat, and that is harming the message that police are authoritarians, under government control and there to take our freedoms away.

YOU are fucking up that message, you fidgit. No more discussion though, because you are not rational today.

              • Kea, Have you considered that holysheet who started a blog to fight the COL and police actions endangering our freedom of speech is unlikely to be a “boot licking authoritarian”. I doubt any of us on YSB could be put in that pigeon hole. 🤨

  24. I’m trying an experiment today. About to light the coals for a combination of a curry and a beer can chicken. I’ve got a little dutch, cast iron pan that I’m going to fill with vegetables and a curry sauce and things using a potjiekos curry recipe, that will go into the bottom of the Weber. I’ll put its lid upside down, then stand the spiced chicken on the can ontop of that. Close the lid on the whole mixture and give it an hour or so. Wish me luck! I’ve had enough working for today, so about to open a beer and get started.

Possible reasons for the waist effects were discussed, including women’s abdominal body fat decreasing their own desire through neurohormonal mechanisms and decreasing their partner’s desire through evolutionary-related decreased sexual attractiveness.

  26. Yep here comes the election spend.

The Government has signalled its intentions to take advantage of the all-time low cost of borrowing to bring forward a “significant” amount of spending on infrastructure projects.

But there is little detail about the size and scale of the spending package – the Government promised to unveil more information at the Half Yearly Economic and Fiscal Update (HYEFU) next month.

Speaking at Labour’s annual conference this afternoon, Finance Minister Grant Robertson said the Government has a “once in a generation” fiscal opportunity.

Robertson said he had directed Treasury to help bring together a package of short- and medium-term infrastructure projects the Government can invest in.

“We are still finalising the full list of specific projects, but they will be spread across the country and will support a number of different sectors.”
So it will be targeted at thier electors and winstons as well.

If the fuckers hadn’t made a disaster of the economy before Key came along and then again when Jacinda came along this stuff would have all been done.

  27. Robertson also refused to provide much, if any, detail on the Government’s spending pipeline plans other than telling reporters to prepare for something “significant”.

Finance Minister Grant Robertson is denying that the Government was pressured by the Reserve Bank into borrowing more money to spend up large on new infrastructure projects.

The central bank and its Governor, Adrian Orr, have been calling for the Government to loosen its purse strings for much of this year.

Labour never stop lieing do they.

But we have made the decision that this is the priority to do this investment now.”

Details, such as the size of the spending package, what the money would be spent on and how it would affect the Government’s debt track, would all be revealed at the Half Yearly Economic and Fiscal Update (HYEFC) on December 11.

i.e. The election is coming next year. This won’t save them as it will be too late by the time it gets started.

  28. Auckland woman Claire Szabo has been elected the new president of the Labour Party after beating two other candidates in a contest at the party’s conference in Whanganui.

She is the chief executive of Habitat for Humanity, a charity which builds houses for people on low incomes.

She beat Tane Phillip, the party’s senior Māori vice-president, and Lorna Crane of the Westport branch.

    • The entire green industry it drives, would be worth trillions i suspect.

The great thing about green industries is they don’t need to work to make a profit. Useless expensive windmills are a great example. They make small amounts of insanely expensive electricity and are not even green when you factor in their manufacturing.

  29. Call for regulation on NZ’s pork industry in the wake of global spread of African swine fever

    https://www.tvnz.co.nz/one-news/new-zealand/call-regulation-nz-s-pork-industry-in-wake-global-spread-african-swine-fever?auto=6110682808001

“Time and time and time again our biosecurity has been breached and we’ve had some very expensive breaches and I just think there’s got to be a line in the sand and we say ‘enough is enough’ and we do some practical things to protect ourselves,” says Josh Hill of Poaka New Zealand.

He’s worried about African swine fever, the virus predicted to wipe out a quarter of the global pig population.

It has spread from Africa to Asia and Europe, recently found as close as Timor Leste, just north of Australia.

Last month, World Animal Health officials warned that no country is immune.”

    • I never each imported pork or bacon. The imported bacon is pumped full of saline, and shrinks when you fry it, releasing out the fluid as muck which affects crisping. No idea what sort of antibiotics or steroids they pump in while the animal is live.
Hellers is NZ sourced, and there are other smaller operators (Pirongia or Pokeno bacon, etc.)

    • The Stuff poll mid article is disgraceful and dangerous.
      Loaded with Arderninistic mumbo jumbo.
The news providers of today have got be the weakest ignoramuses in history.

How about doing a poll like this: (Random questions in no particular order)

1/ In the event of a terrorist attack what course of action would you implement to save yourself, family, friends, and loved ones from harm?

2/ Knowing that an an attack is inevitable, what precautions can be taken, to isolate, minimize or eliminate potential harm?

3/ What are the tell tale signs that an attack is being planned / possible, and who should you notify your concerns to?

4/ When in immediate danger, what can you do to gain control of the situation?.
