  1. White Island Eruption: ‘How good is Ardern’.World praises PM for disaster response.
This comes when a Prime Minster seeks re- election next year after a year of disasters that she has used her drama classes experience to gather votes, with media hell bent on forgetting the corruption and poor leadership in other and more important times for NZ.
    https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=12292678
Jacinda has a knack of being able to create a sympathy vote for herself while reading speeches that others have penned for her and is a attention seeker of the highest degree. The media have seized on this fact to push there own agenda which is to keep Jacinda and Labour in power to suit there need.

  2. Which way is the future, based on an essay written by Australian, Andrew Hastie.
Or is just ourselves doing the self gutting? 🙁

The battle is now well along to determine which set of values— democratic or authoritarian —will shape the emerging world order,
    https://www.demdigest.org/art-of-deceit-democratic-wests-strategic-culture-impedes-efforts-to-counter-autocrats-sharp-power/

“The challenge for us in the West is that the character of that competition, being conducted by authoritarian opponents, is attacking our way of life and our freedom in a manner that is remarkably difficult to defeat without undermining the very freedoms we seek to protect.
    https://www.smh.com.au/politics/federal/hastie-urges-democracies-to-engage-in-political-warfare-to-preserve-peace-20191203-p53g7u.html

An interesting view of the manoeuvres of China, building islands, etc…

….. Mao Tse-Tung put it, “Politics is war without bloodshed, while war is politics with bloodshed”. Politics and warfare became interchangeable and all the instruments of the state were refashioned for subversive warfare. ….
…. democratic West has lacked the intellectual framework both to perceive and to respond to these subversive tactics. ….
…… Many democracies find themselves economically co-dependent on authoritarian states and vulnerable to coercion. ….

    https://www.michaelsmithnews.com/2019/12/provocative-essay-from-andrew-hastie-mp-on-countering-chinas-espionage-corruption-and-military-aggre.html

So what is happening here in NZ, and when do we don the “coolie hat”, though some would wear silk,
The dairy industry, and now the sheep & cattle industry, becoming very dependent on China.

US-RUSSIAN NUCLEAR WAR SIMULATION SHOWS 34 MILLION WOULD DIE WITHIN 5 HOURS

In September 2019, researchers at Princeton’s Program on Science and Global Security published a video which shows the “domino effect” of using just one tactical (low-yield) nuclear weapon.

To repeat, the only country with nuclear warheads, that also has a “preemptive” nuclear strike policy is the US, and this video begins in a situation that Moscow assumes Washington’s war-time doctrine. Russia, in 1993, did drop its “no first use policy,” but its 2010 doctrine only suggests that nuclear weapons would be used in response to an adversary using them first. Any other suggestions that it could resort to such weapons first comes down to speculation.

      • Thanks Ross12. If time later I will look for him.

In some ways I also have questions even about the essay.
I did wonder if creating an enemy to try and bring an unification and broaden one’s “base”.
The nativity of some to other cultures, and the changes being pushed, does not measure or monitor, what we are about.

Still one must know one self, and putting the Australian citizen first.
Then if there is an enemy, to then know them.

At least everything to be discussed, debated, and so truth can be revealed, with good reasons.

  3. Another Labour Minister that likes to play the blame game when it suits his agenda.
Probe into Foriegn interference to late: Justice Minister Andrew Little says, this is dispite Labour not starting the probe until September 2018 , one year after being elected.
    https://www.nzherald.co.nz/politics/news/article.cfm?c_id=280&objectid=12292660
Labour and the Coalition find themselves behind in the vote and thought they could sleep walk back to power but corruption allegations and Ministers out of their depth have changed the outlook on the political land scape and leaving little time to smear the opposition like Little planned to do.

  4. Impeachment charges against Donald Trump revealed
    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/world/2019/12/impeachment-charges-against-donald-trump-revealed.html

“Democrats in the House of Representatives announced formal charges against President Donald Trump on Tuesday that accuse him of abusing power and obstructing Congress, making him only the fourth US president in history to face impeachment.

The full Democratic-controlled House is expected to vote on the charges, or articles of impeachment, next week. It is almost certain to vote to impeach the Republican president, setting the stage for a dramatic trial in the Republican-controlled Senate, likely to begin in January.”

  5. Will the criminal investigation into the White Island deaths include investigation of the NZ Police decision to stop rescue efforts?

Looks like they were more interested in preserving a crime scene than rescuing victims.

Despicable actions by senior politically appointed police. The local cops would have jumped on a boat and searched the island.

    • Yes it’s surprising that they handed out bravery awards to the cops who subdued and arrested Brenton Tarrant. Surely by the managements most recent actions they should have stood by and cordoned him off.

        • It is easy to say in hindsight, having read his manifesto and knowing his will. I think decisions, and not knowing whether the armed gunman (men) loose in Christchurch will open fire or surrender changes your response. They are still rank and file cops that, in a thought to be dangerous situation, risked themselves for the public.

No matter what changed im the days and hours afterwards as we learned more, at that time they did react well.

Afghanistan report bombshell: US officials misled public about war for nearly 2 decades

The paper, which obtained a cache of government documents under the Freedom of Information Act after a three-year legal battle, reported that the American officials made repeatedly lied about the longest armed conflict in US history.

    • I knew years ago of the sham, the unbelievable positioning of islam in the Afghan constitution in 2005.
This is also similar to the Iraq constitution made after the war.
It makes it difficult for those countries’s leaders to hold out, and other ones to more easily acquiesce to the bottom line, of sharia.

The constitution of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan creates a nation that pledges to be both Islamic and democratic.
Two tenets occupy a prominent place: Islam and resistance.
The new constitution confirms that Afghanistan will be an Islamic republic with Islam as its “sacred religion.” It also states that no law can violate Islamic principles (Article 3). Although the document does not include a reference to sharia, it adds the proviso that no law “can be contrary to the beliefs and provisions” of Islam.

      https://mepc.org/journal/afghanistans-constitution-success-or-sham

An absolute travesty of western democracy, and a continuing wasteful western sacrifice for nothing!

The positioning of islamic principles, laws in the West are also slowly and stealthily being ratcheted in.
It all seems to be ok with academia, media, politicians, that apply heavy censure, “cancel culture” de-platforming, and, or shaming to any questions, debate or questions about islam.

That so sadly is what the loss “allies” lives was for; an islamic constitution.

    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2019/12/white-island-eruption-simon-bridges-says-police-announcing-criminal-investigation-created-uncertainty.html

“Simon Bridges says police announcing a criminal investigation into the White Island disaster before retracting the statement hours later created uncertainty for those caught up in the tragedy.

“It’s very unfortunate to have a situation where they say something like that, with the uncertainty that creates,” said National leader Bridges.”

  8. Time to make this an election issue

I am surprised stuff has this article. It is a massive indictment in terms of the Polive etc fucking things up Pike River style once again.

    https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/118103101/whakaariwhite-island-helicopter-pilot-said-conditions-perfect-to-recover-bodies

    Quotes:

“The conditions are perfect, I don’t understand why [emergency services] wouldn’t go – I’d go.

“We could go do that now, so that’s the frustrating part.

“The intensity has probably lessened. The southwesterly has probably blown the plume and the gas away, so you could probably walk around there without a gas mask on.”

Once they learned emergency services were not heading out, they decided to save people themselves.

“We then decided to move the helicopters up to where most of the people were lying and in a distressed state.

“And then three of us started loading people in helicopters. We put five people into one and Jason left for the hospital.

“I brought my helicopter up and we loaded five more into that and we left.”

    End quotes

So the fucking emergency response was ” Just don’t bother ”

    COWARDS.

        • What?
Become a foot soldier for political activity; not a protector of decent folk against criminals.

          Proof.
-Ext Rebellion scum can vandalise with impunity and stop taxpayers going to work. Cops do nothing but warn said taxpayers to stay home for their safety.
          What!! Think about that.

-Unemployed non tax paying people (mainly benes) occupy private land ready for the building of 500 needed houses but the cops do nothing. Why?
it is not about the law- it is political and about optics.

-Gangs are growing while the cops do nothing. Gangsters can hold onto AR15s and the cops will do nothing come next week.
They will go after generally honest citizens placed in an awkward position by bad law rushed through and supported by Notional.
The criminals are in their safe space- Gang HQ!
Occasional signalled showpiece raids don’t cut it.

-Sound vaguely ‘white sup remacist’ and the cops will be at your door in a heartbeat.

That is the NZ today. 2019.
-Had your house burgled – tough
-Had your computer stolen and know where it is; we won’t bother but if you go to this premises to collect your lawful property we will arrest you for trespass.
          – right now they are poised to prosecute people over White Is when something that has some risk – therefore commercial attraction – turned fatal when nature took its course.
Are they going to close down car racing?
But 115 people died in the CTV building in 2011 and no-one even got bitch slapped.
          It is all political.

NZ Cop 2019 = Political enforcer.

    • So if the brave helicopter pilots and others did not take the situation into their own hands many would be still on the Island.

  9. White Island eruption: Hero pilot Mark Law says conditions perfect to return
    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/new-zealand/2019/12/white-island-eruption-hero-pilot-mike-law-says-conditions-perfect-to-return.html

“A hero pilot who rescued people in the immediate aftermath of the White Island eruption says conditions are right to return.

Mark Law was one of the many selfless Kiwis who rushed to help dozens of people who were severely burned.

Emergency services are still assessing conditions on the island to launch a recovery operation.

But Law says they could leave now.”

GPS shows The Police maritime unit Deodar is anchored off white Island presumably to make sure nobody attempts to land on the Island. The cops have refused to attempt to recover the bodies today saying the conditions are not safe.

“Mr Bridges told TVNZ1’s Breakfast today roading projects were important because “more than 90 per cent” of people and freight travels by road.

“I started personally CRL (Auckland’s City Rail Link), I’m not anti this stuff but I do think if this is basically just pie in the sky, not a whole lot here, not some new real roads starting – they’re not going to turn the dial for congestion in Auckland. Actually, they’re not going to get New Zealanders moving around this country.”

  11. Time for a rant. I had the displeasure of travelling long distance north and south this country of ours over the last week.. How utterly diabolical. I am a pretty take it easy kind of driver I set the cruise control and let the kilometers pass me by, If need be I will overtake someone on a passing lane or if someone has the decorum to pull over. Otherwise im perfectly happy to trundle along behind someone.

But it seems every time I have to make one of these journeys it becomes harder and harder. If this country is going to commit to trucking as its primary source of carting things here there and everywhere. Tourism as a significant source of revenue. And continue importing immigrants like its going out of fashion… How about some bloody infrastructure?!

I witness near misses almost every time I take one of these open road ventures. Yes some peoples driving attitudes aren’t quite what you would call sane, BUT almost every instance is caused by people getting impatient. Impatient with getting caught behind a convoy of holiday makers scared witless of cracking 80kph in their giant campervan they rented. Impatient with Truck after truck after truck. Its beyond a joke, passing lanes are all but pointless when you overtake a truck or two only to sit behind the next one and the next one and so on (this is assuming of course one of the trucks doesn’t decide they wish to overtake and ruin it for everyone else).

How about some bloody roads? I think were at (if not past) the point where near every main highway needs to be a dual carriageway. Its costing lives, its getting to the point where I’m not feeling as safe on the road and if it could be avoided I think id rather fly just to avoid the stress of it all. Rant over.

    11

    0

    • What freaks me about overtaking is almost everyone who pulls out onto the main road going left from a side road never looks left, they only look right, if you’re overtaking at 120k then they pull out its game over.

      7

      0

        • I have a problem with motorist that are scared of the big nasty scary truck, they were traveling faster if they catch up to a truck. Will they pass, oh no they don’t, they sit in close so no one can pass either. Other countries allow the same trucks to travel legally at 100km. So why are ours limited to 90km?
I use to be a truck driver in another life! They are the most regulated working person in NZ. If the plod don’t get you, the employer will. Logbooks are going electonic, so you just get a ticket in the mail, cameras to watch the road as well as the driver. Employer ring up saying you did this or that. Customers with all their own rules as well. Safety inductions up the kyber pass for every site.

          5

          0

    • Keep left, pass right. Drivers taught in New Zealand have a shitload to learn. I come from a country where minibus taxis take the steering wheels off and replace them with spanners so they can fit another driver in. I have seen a driver reload his pistol in traffic. And I still think Kiwi-born drivers are worse on the road.

    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/sport/2019/12/rugby-ian-foster-to-be-confirmed-as-new-all-blacks-head-coach-reports.html

“New Zealand Rugby has announced Ian Foster as the new head coach of the All Blacks on a two-year deal.

Foster will step up from his role as an assistant to take the top job that was vacated by Steve Hansen, after this year’s Rugby World Cup in Japan.

The 54-year-old has won the race for the role ahead of the Crusaders’ Scott Robertson, who was the primary second candidate once Jamie Joseph re-signed with Japan and Dave Rennie commited to the Wallabies.

“I feel truly privileged and honoured to be given this opportunity,” Foster told Allblacks.com. “And I can’t wait to lead the team into the next chapter of what is a remarkable legacy.”

  13. The cameras on White Island were shut for the same reason the police don’t want the bodies retrieved.

There were survivors after the initial blast, which is now confirmed by eye witnesses.

This is a coverup by the police. The evidence is overwhelming.

The cameras may have filmed survivors. An autopsy would show time of death. So they want the bodies as decayed as possible. The cops will be hoping for the whole thing to blow.

The actions of the police have resulted in the deaths of survivors and they know it.

He’s a gutsy bugger like the other pilots & crew & the article is a good read but one part made my skin crawl.

……” Barrow said despite breaching Civil Aviation rules by landing on an area with volcanic activity, he wouldn’t change his decision if faced with it again.

“When something like this is happening, as much as we are trying to be safe, we are not pulling the rule book out … We knew there were lives at risk.”……

A hero he is but he’ll probably be an unemployed hero when the paper shufflers & nit-pickers of Civil Aviation are finished with him. If the arseholes even look like going for his company or licence the time is overdue for civil rebellion against our bureaucratic overlords.

  19. ‘Cynical’ to describe infrastructure spend as election year slush fund – Grant Robertson
    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2019/12/cynical-to-describe-infrastructure-spend-as-election-year-slush-fund-grant-robertson.html

“These guys are world-class at announcing stuff and they’re third-rate at delivering… They haven’t delivered in the year of delivery and now they’re throwing money around.”

As well as roads, the Government is promising a $300 million dollar fixer-upper fund for hospitals.

Another $300 million will go into regional infrastructure, $200 million to remove coal-fired burners from schools, hospitals and prisons, and $400 million was already allocated for school upgrades.

It’s all a helpful distraction from the news of a $900 million dollar deficit.

“Labour’s screwing up the economy,” Bridges said. “In two short years they have gone from surpluses as far as the eye can see, into the red – it’s unbelievable.”
