Morning everyone, off to the Snake bank party today. The party is actually held on McDonald bank which is just off McLeod bay in Whangarei harbour. As the tide goes out a large sand bank pops up and they unload a band and heaps of party people, boats gather round and it’s all on for young and old until the tide comes in again. Not a bad way to spend a Saturday.

Without the wind, the plume of a fire tends to be like a candle and flows upwards rather than outwards as demonstrated by knowitis yesterday.
So the fire and heat go up from the source thereby not affecting some of the trees or even some of the other surrounds. It’s the wind that spreads it or sparks.
trees are also wet timber, leaves are largely water so it takes a hell of alot more to burn then some kiln dried timber that hasnt seen moisture for decades.
