Why oh why would very necessary night time flight training for army helicopter pilots take place on the runway approach for one of that country’s busiest airports? It did!!!
To the east of the airport is a helicopter flight path, but helicopters are restricted to a 200 feet altitude in that area. The 200 feet limit becomes 300 feet a few miles south by the Wilson Bridge, away from the flight path. The American Airlines Wichita KS to Reagen Airport flight collided with an army helicopter at 372 feet altitude as the American Airlines flight followed the usual flight path approach to Reagen Airport.
Note how the news report had FACTS. Our news media would be more interested in reporting what feminine hygeine products the wife of the jet aircraft’s pilot used. One has to get a female perspective on all news stories.
