  1. ‘More chance of getting measles in Auckland than coronavirus in Shenzhen’
    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/new-zealand/2020/01/more-chance-of-getting-measles-in-auckland-than-coronavirus-in-shenzen.html

New Zealanders visiting relatives in China are now trapped in Wuhan as the city goes into lockdown over the deadly coronavirus.

At least 17 people are dead and more than 500 infected in China alone, as the virus spreads from Wuhan to other provinces and countries.

“At five o’clock China time this morning, the Chinese Central Television Station Channel One said from 10 o’clock this morning, all of the buses, subways, airport – and I’ve just heard that all the motorways – will be closed down temporarily.”

New Zealand doctor Lance O’Sullivan fears the spread of hysteria over the deadly Wuhan coronavirus, saying the answer to outbreaks like it is to have better vaccination programmes prepared.

  2. Bloody Hell Ed! You’re taking your chances there.

You’ve got a couple of conservative Xtian followers who know deep in their tummies that they are the sole arbiters of what is offensive & what is allowable.

They won’t take a challenge like this lying down! 🙂

      • ……”As a Catholic, Nothing offends me”……

Yes. I’ve noticed that. How is it that you find it possible to live in the same world as non believers without shoving Godshit down the throats of people you’ve never met? How do you manage not to dictate how others live their lives?

        So many questions…………

  3. One day, there were two boys playing by a stream. One of the young boys saw a bush and went over to it. The other boy couldn’t figure out why his friend was at the bush for so long. The other boy went over to the bush and looked. The two boys were looking at a woman bathing naked in the stream.
All of a sudden, the second boy took off running. The first boy couldn’t understand why he ran away, so he took off after his friend. Finally, he caught up to him and asked why he ran away.
The boy said to his friend, “My mom told me if I ever saw a naked lady, I would turn to stone, and I felt something getting hard, so I ran.”

    https://www.tvnz.co.nz/one-news/new-zealand/giant-metal-richie-mccaw-sculpture-belongs-in-christchurch-petitioner-pleads

On Wednesday Kurow, the All Black legend’s hometown, offered to adopt the rejected sculpture – but a loyal Cantabrian reckons it belongs in Christchurch instead.

Chinese sculptor Yang Yi built the 7-metre-tall sculpture of McCaw for it to be homed in New Zealand.

  5. Ha a good theme for todays Herald News.

    https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=12303041

Basically a 20 yr old and a 15 year old got chummy, parents encourge them to share bed and so the provlivities of human nature took over.
Dumd fucking policeman?woman decided oh they broke the law. woman chrged.
Pompous Judge decided that was a no go.(idiot) and sentenced the young lady to be moralized by the PC people.
Went on about the 5 year difference FFS.
where do they get these dumb uneducated fucking clowns that they turn into Judges. Worse where do they get the stupid fucking police that think the life is ruled by made up society rules.
Of course it was dunedin. Suprize it wasn’t Christchurch.

Meanwhile young woman under the age of 15 prostitute them selves on the street everyday in Auckalnd.

A friendship developed when Bambery returned to the area and they became reacquainted.

The offending occurred over about a month when, with the consent of the victim and his parents, Bambery shared his bed.
Being permitted to share the victim’s bed might be considered unusual in the extreme, but his parents would not have expected Bambery to commit an offence.

Really. What did they think would be happening. Under the sheets holding a Prayer vigil.
    fucking morons.
Worse part is the taxpayer pays the judgemental to arrest people for living and make a judgement.

Chuck will be alonfg shortly to tell us his moral view of how things should be.

      • Teenager’s heaven.
Notice that they showed her pic but not his nor his parents who were complicit in the bed sharing.

        • But he was just a minor and didn’t know what he was doing,
So he just kept repeating it over and over again and got the same results everytime!

          8

          0

    • I disagree.
If that had been a male of 20 and a girl of 15 and it was before the courts he would have got at least 4 years prison time.

There is a general rule of letting it slide when there is two years or less age difference if one party is under 16 years of age.
Helen Clark tried to formalise this as it is common in many jurisdictions but this was defeated (2004) by the moral brigade.

It is getting closer to equality.
      eg
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ages_of_consent_in_Oceania#New_Zealand
‘The sexual abuse of boys of any age, including rape, by adult women was fully legal in New Zealand until around 2007. This is despite New Zealand having been party to international conventions against the exploitation of children since the 1980s.’
      Ain’t equality great!

It sounds like the parents should have been party to charges as well as they were the legal guardians and enabled this situation.

For this to have come before the courts then somebody squealed.
      Who?

Once it is before the courts and the facts are examined the law is applied.
This does not happen often enough….as people here regularly say.
It is good to see the law, as written, is applied.
Tough that she was caught but, again, somebody called the cops……

So….Not everyone involved thought it was a good idea.
      http://youthlaw.co.nz/rights/sex-relationships/when-can-i-in-relationships/#someone-complained-to-the-police-about-my-partner-and-i-having-underage-sex-will-i-get-in-trouble

Remember that circa 1973 three army lads from Trentham were convicted for shagging 2 ‘boy friendly’ gals from the Wairarapa.
The two girls were 15 years 9 months and the other 15 years 10 months of age.
They were already sexually active with multiple partners.
The army boys happened to get caught.
Who squealed? I don’t know that. Was following it through the ‘Truth’ Newspaper.

They were, I think, 2 x 17 year olds and one 18 year old.
One of the 17 year olds was Ron Mark; now NZ First MP
I guess some people will change their opinion and clap with glee that Ron Mark was convicted because of political dislike.

      What is fair?
      I think that was unfair.

In this case (2019)the law was broken
There were some odd sounding circumstances but then again it is Dunedin so probably not odd at all.

If you are going to claim equality (although it is usually very selective) then enforce it.
If the 20 year old was the male he would get far worse treatment.
Women get less than one quarter the punishment as males do for the same offence and that has only started to happen in UK and NZ in the last 10 years.
In the USA the women’s punishment is closer to the men but still behind.

Oh for the days of equality!
..going back to the skit on YSB the other day about if women want equal pay….

      • The age of criminality with respect to sex should be around 14 as it is in most European countries. An “age” actually is no real decider, more the mental and psychological development of the people concerned. That makes it more iffy to apply, but is probably more realistisc. No way this 15 yr old was hating it….

      • Undoubtably not all the truth is told. Usually these things get about when one party desides to quit.
Still not owrth the taxpayers dollar to bother with.
After all the police can’t sort out the bad bastards and this was about “love”.

  6. More proof the EU and the UN and Merkel really are useless.
As I no longer watch NZ MSM news (Because I do not want to hear Climate Change every five minutes) I have been watching Al Jazeera a bit.
The war in Libya is featured quite a lot.
They held a meeting in Germany to start a truce and ceasefire.
The UN backed government basically only holds Tripoli the capital, the war lord Hafta controls the rest of Libya.
    Hafta did not sign anything
Then the EU and the UN asked that the parties respect the ceasefire.
Why would have Hafta want a ceasefire when he has nearly captured the whole country.

They really are pathetic, pleading for ceasefires and truces.

I hope facebook will keep these stories at the ready starting now and will hold this Government to account every time a lie is told we are still waiting for the correct figures on Child Poverty to be released that have been hidden since the last Election and Jacinda promised the Country that her plan was the only one that could fix it. 8. Labour wheeled out ‘motor mouth’ Jackson on Newshub to front Socialist Cindy’s election posidividy campaign. Jackson is just a filler, a supplier of rhetoric and political jibes to cover for the PTPM’s hypocrisy.

Labour’s Willie Jackson accuses National MP Chris Bishop of wanting to be ‘Rambo’

Labour MP Willie Jackson has stretched his party’s promise to keep its campaign “relentlessly positive” and “factual”, claiming National’s gang policy is to just “shoot them all”.

Jackson appeared on The AM Show on Friday alongside National MP Chris Bishop, whom he called “Rambo”.

  9. How can NZ be Equal with Denmark in top position of the World when we have had sexual assaults sweep under the carpet and the victims ridiculed by the Prime Minister and her Labour Council charged with the enquiry to find the truth. Then you have her Coalition Partner and Deputy Prime Minister found by the media to be gaming the political Donations rule by having all donations put in a Foundation without having to declare them. These same two Leader had no trouble in taking the opposition Leader to task that was also a donations that were hidden after serial liar and National playboy Jamie Lee Ross fell out with National Leader Simon Bridgesand was expelled from the National Party, this complaint has been in the serial fraud office for nearly a year as our corrupt Government wants to drag the results into Election year. How anyone in the world can say we are top of the list for least corrupt Government in world after the Provincial Growth Fund shinagins and the political bribes from Shane Jones a Coalition MP is beyond me and shows whoever’s runs this contest is also on the take which can’t be good for world Politics.

  10. LATEST ACT NEWSLETTER

    Dear

The most important election in a generation

This year’s election will decide whether you have the freedom to speak. Free speech is the foundation of our freedoms. Our ancestors fought for basic rights such as freedom of expression. It is critical to our way of life.

But the Government is now using the Christchurch attacks as an excuse to shut down free speech. The Justice Minister has promised tough hate speech laws will be introduced into Parliament this year. Jacinda Ardern has told people privately she wants hate speech laws to be part of her legacy. New Zealand is now going down the same path as the UK where the Police pay visits to people who have sent tweets referring to transgender people as men. Labour and the Greens are pandering to the woke left who want to police your thoughts and your words. National has been invisible and cannot be relied upon to defend free speech. Only ACT has been fighting day in and day out on this issue.

The Government won’t be able to get hate speech laws through Parliament before voters go to the polls. So, there’s still a chance we can stop them. But if the Government is re-elected, it will finish the job. You will no longer be able to speak freely without fear of the authorities knocking on your door.

Some bad news and some good news

The bad news is that some voters are considering giving the worst government in a generation another three years. Another Labour/NZ First/Greens is a very real possibility. That would mean tough new restrictions on free speech. The only way we are going to defend free speech is if ACT decides the next government. The good news is that the last polls of 2019 showed ACT holding the balance of power, with between 2 and 5 MPs. The election will be very close.

    What you can do

Elections are expensive. ACT doesn’t receive taxpayer funding and the government has a huge advantage because it can spend your money to buy votes. The forces who want to shut down free speech will campaign hard against ACT because we could decide the next government. You can donate to our campaign right now.

We need your vote and the votes of your friends and family. Please share this email with as many people as you can. Ask them to vote for ACT and to join our campaign. Never underestimate your influence.

Become an ACT member and show others you stand with us in protecting freedom.

Join us on our Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn and Twitter channels. The 2020 election will be fought and won online.

    Yours sincerely

    David Seymour

    • I don’t doubt his sincerity but what has he or the Act Party done to warrant Government funding over the years, nothing apart from National gifting his seat. I need the Coalition to fail and the only way to do that is for National to win the Election.

      4

      6

      • Except national can never win on their own. Gees some people are bloody thick.
They never have and despite polls they never will. Its party votes tht matter and the Nats can’t get there on them.

        5

        0

        • Seeing your such a smart arse and I am thick as you put it Viking if NZ First is wiped out there is every chance National can Govern alone and I am not saying Act can’t help but two act MPs wont do the job no mater what you think. It people like you and many others on here that wanted to teach National a lesson last Election and look what happened. It National don’t win then so be it but don’t go on about the Government you will have helped to elect because of your dislike for National.

          2

          0

          • National can govern alone IF NZF is wiped oit and IF Labour don’t change electoral law for their own benefit. National would be smart to cultivate and grow partners, where a trade of a single electoral seat can get 2 or 3 MPs.

            0

            0

      • There’s a balance to be struck, I think. Part of me wants to go: “Let parties fund themselves from what their members contribute” and that feels fair to me. Another part tells me that parties starved for funding won’t die. They’ll sell what they can do for money. That doesn’t seem better.

        Anyway, what does ACT achieve?

I see them as a voice of reason.

Labour rushed through the gun legislation and buyback scheme. National folded so quickly to avoid being accused of being pro-freedom you’d think they were hinged in the middle. There was one party that said no, that was ACT. Others followed later on, but somebody provided that first dissent against what our major two parties did.

I think in general I see them as the party that (currently) sits at the table, listens to the other ones gabble on about taxing us, taking things from us and giving our labour to others and then raises a hand to interrupt the insanity.

That’s the value I see them bringing.

        6

        • Pascal am not telling people how to vote as it is everyone’s right to, what iam saying is I will be voting National because I want rid of this corrupt Government because I dont.think David Seymour can walk on water it doesn’t mean the you can’t and I know you have no time for National as Party, but I am sick to death of everyone saying vote for someone else to teach National a lesson and then when we get the Coalition we have it is everybody else’s fault.

          1

          0

          • Voting to teach National a lesson is dumb, agreed. I have no time for them, correct, because I do not believe in their principles. I won’t even argue if you vote for National because you believe in their principles. (I may point and laugh though)

But if your sole reason for voting for them is to get rid of the Coalition we should sit down and debate it a bit 🙂

  11. The lobbyist working in Phil Twyford’s office didn’t disclose contracts to employer

A lobbyist who worked in Minister Phil Twyford’s office did not disclose the contracts he took through his lobbying firm while employed as the minister’s specialist advisor.

Barry Ebert took on three contracts for “research and communications work” while also working for the minister that were not disclosed to his employer, who yesterday believed Ebert had ceased “actively trading” when he joined Twyford’s team in October 2017.

Ebert was Twyford’s advisor between October 2017 and January 2020. During this time he remained the sole director and sole shareholder of his lobbying firm, Three Point Two Communications.

What about our own coal on the West Coast ? No need for oil & gas exploration , we can just import coal to cover the energy shortage. In the meantime there is a flotilla of Greenpeace idiots going 40kms offshore from Balclutha, to protest the OMV exploration activities.

  14. Simon Bridges questions what Labour has done for Māori as politicians descend on Rātana

Politicians from both sides of the House are descending on a small town near Whanganui today for the annual celebration of the Rātana Movement as the political year kicks off.

Mr Bridges criticised what Labour had done for Māori.

“What have they done? The Prime Minister said yesterday she values the facts. Well here are some facts,” before citing the latest benefit figures, saying they disproportionately impacted Māori.

Latest benefit figures show that in December 2019, 147,464 people were receiving the Jobseeker Support benefit, a 10 per cent increase on the previous year. It comes amid a low unemployment rate of 4.2 per cent.

“It’s the action and delivery that matter in Government,” Mr Bridges said.

“When I say something I’ll do it. When the National Party say something, we’ll do it.”

    • Yes, there’s afair amount of this bullshit going on. My son started a building project at Te Puna 18 months ago, and the excavators had to scrape a 300 m2 site progressively, 150 mm at a time – to ensure that there was no ancient Maori artifacts or middens there. They found a bunch of pipi shells, so the project has been delayd 18 months while archeologists and other beureacrats inspected the site . All this bullshit cost the landowners around $10.000, and achieved absolutely zero.
      What a crock of shit.

Called the local Iwi guy who came and removed twhat was there.Said well we don’t know who they belong to but we have a space for remains like this at the back of the urapa.
Now these graves were below the Rotoiti ash layer which is not that deep there but that layer was put down in the 1200’s before Maori arrived here.
The tradition of vertical burials is one from places like Easter island.
Now what makes that interesting is that a close Marae has as one of its sons a Kiwi entertainer and that young man was on the DNA program a year or so back. One of his matches was a close match with a man on Easter Island. He went there and stated that he had always had a desire to go there.

Given the findings the other day in Australia its entirley possible and could also match with the change in the earths polarity.

    • I hope you’re right Kea but I’m far from complacent about it.

The 1918 pandemic took out about 9000 Kiwis. To put it in context about 18000 lost their lives in WW1.

      • The total number of deaths from this, Sars, bird flu etc is not even a days worth of ordinary seasonal flu.

Personally I think we need a good culling of around 70%. So I’m untroubled either way

        • well, it makes a nice change from being brow-beaten with heat waves and burning planets and boiling seas. Now I can stop worrying about the world coming to an end in11 years 9 months, because I might be already dead from some dirty bod sneezing over me.

    • Kea.
Yesterday I posted, that the coronavirus was man made and patented. (With links)
No one thought to question or even follow up.
      Sweet.
Today, I will post something else that may or may not garner comments, also sweet.

On October the 18th 2019 an exercise was funded by John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, The World Economic Forum and The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

The fake exercise was called Event 201. A Global Pandemic Exercise

The following promotional scaremongering clip is 11:45 mins long.

      https://youtu.be/AoLw-Q8X174

So, with the climate change hoax being challenged mocked and losing steam, another hoax is set to spread and destroy humanity.

Bill Gates helped fund the patent application for the coronavirus.
      https://www.pirbright.ac.uk/search?keywords=Gates

William Gates Senior served on the Board of Planned Parenthood. (Among other dodgy companies)

Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Inc. (PPFA), or Planned Parenthood, is a nonprofit organization that provides reproductive health care in the United States and globally. It is a tax-exempt corporation.

The Gates family hide behind philanthropy, all the biggest crooks do.

      2

      3

    • This massive (10 -15 cities) uprising in France has nothing to do with fuel prices as forcefully stated by the MSM.
It is the utter rejection of globalism.
      It always was.
How far do New Zealanders need to be pushed before protesting?
Is it only ever going to be a whinge at the local pub, cafe or dairy?

The rest of the world is waking up, they are sheep no more.

  18. Nasska’s comment the other night about his early schooling days on the East Coast reminded me of Parekrua Horomia’s acceptance speech to Parliament.

Parekura stated that when he was growing up on the East Coast, he had to to walk to school because the school bus was for the Pakeha kids only.

Graeme Williams (Waiau) responded publicly with, “hey Pare, you and I used to sit together on that bus”!

    Politicians lying since forever.

      Pure and simple child abuse.

      • Couldn’t agree with you more but this is the way Jacinda and the media think she can guarantee her another term. She is a attention seeker and a con to go with it , but today a lot of people are sucked into it because it’s all about her not about how to run a Country or have the knowledge help our economy.

    • Labour’s historic ties with Rātana church tested over handling of Māori issues
      https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2020/01/labour-s-historic-ties-with-r-tana-church-tested-over-handling-of-m-ori-issues.html

“But despite the warm reception, this is a tough year for the Government at Rātana – under the pump for its handling of Whānau Ora, Oranga Tamariki uplifts of Māori children, and the land dispute Ihumātao.

The Prime Minister acknowledged at Rātana that she’s called for her Government to be held to account, and said while she’s “really proud” of the work that’s been done for Māori, there is “more to do”.

It probably didn’t help Ardern having her Cabinet Minister Shane Jones’ extraordinary evisceration of Ihumātao protest leader Pania Newton.

Jones described Newton as a “young putiputi”, basically a pretty young thing.

“Pania must not pretend that she is something in the Māori world that she’s not,” the minister said. “You derive your mana in te reo Māori not from pleasing Pākehās.”

        If you haven’t you should.

She of a different tribe would be taken for a slave and maybe a second wife. Any argument would cause a bang on the head.

        Haven’t travelled far have they.

“There are limits. There is no such thing as a blank cheque thing.

  20. The US Department of State has revealed new visa regulations that will crack down on pregnant women who travel to the US to give birth so their children can have an American passport.

The practice the Trump Administration calls ‘Birth Tourism’ is when pregnant women travel to the US, because under the 14th Amendment of the US Constitution, any babies born on American soil are automatically a citizen.

But from Friday, the State Department will stop issuing temporary visitor visas to women travelling to the US to give birth without proof they have a medical reason to be doing so.

  21. UN THRUSTS ‘CLIMATE CHANGE’ REFUGEES ON AUSTRALIA

A landmark decision by the United Nations Human Rights Committee has found it unlawful to force “climate refugees” to return to their home countries.

The ruling, which was issued earlier this month, is the first decision by a human rights body concerning someone seeking protection due to the effects of climate change.

It’s important that Scott Morrison doesn’t sign any new deals with the United Nations that would make this legally binding.

  22. One of the country’s most distinguished Māori scientists has been tapped to lead a new national taskforce for science and technology to be established by the New Zealand Māori Council.

Biochemist Dr Gary Hook chairs the Waikato Tainui Endowed College and is a former head of Te Wānanga o Awanuiarangi.

Most of his career was in the United States, running a research laboratory for the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences.

Council executive director Matthew Tukaki says the new taskforce will help develop Māori positions on issues like DNA and genome sequencing, water, the exploitation of native species, 5G and health science.

It will also develop programmes to support Māori in the science and technology sectors and encourage entrepreneurship and scholarship.

Its first hui will be in Rotorua in May.

  23. Three women are discussing sex and birth control.

    The first woman says,
‘We’re Catholic, so we can’t use it.’

    The second woman says,
`I’m also Catholic, but we use the rhythm method.’

The third woman says, `We use the bucket-and-saucer
    method.’

Fascinated, the other women ask for an explanation.
    “Well, I’m 1.80 m and my husband is 1.50 m,” the third
    woman says.

‘We make love standing up with him standing on a
bucket, and when his eyes get as big as saucers I kick
the bucket out from under him.’

When Philip Lanigan heard a sledgehammer crashing through his front door, he knew he and his wife were “going to be set upon really quickly”.

The Mount Maunganui man began giving evidence at Tauranga District Court this week at the trial of two men accused of being involved in a home invasion in the early hours of July 20, 2018.

Chaliedene Taueki and Maninoa Vincent Felise have each pleaded not guilty to a charge of aggravated robbery and a charge of aggravated burglary.

Nice people who were terrified by what happened.

I note that the two constables first on the scene are no longer Consables. Too tough.

      Go you good things

interesting string of comments incl this:-

…you really support Hillary who stole $6billion in Haiti relief money. Massive protests not covered by the media. Haitians are dying…

Yep a few politicians heads rolling into a basket could be a suitable start.
People died while corrupt politicians held aid -provided by others – in warehouses.
      This also happens in Africa.
Even in countries like Australia how much of the aid money for bushfires will go to the firefighters and those that lost property and people in the fires?

This is purely symbolic but representative of annoyance with Govts around the world – France; Hong Kong

  26. Serena Williams is out of the Australian Open tennis.
The media spout so much crap.

She has not won a Grand slam Singles since AU Open 3 years ago in 2017.
They give so much media hype.
A white person would not get this positive coverage.
Must be like the other Williams…Sonny bill.

If she had not f…ed around from 2004 to 2009 she would have beaten Margaret Court’s record easily.
    She pissed around.
Now she is on drugs ..as many USA athletes are..but gets a TUE.
This still does not bridge the gap.

    Roll of honour
    Lance Armstrong
Marion Jones and her husband CJ Hunter
Ben Johnson would not have been disqualified in Seoul 1988 if he had been USA. Carl Lewis was caught twice in the 12 months before the Olympics but the USA Olympic committee covered it up at the time. Ergo, another gold to USA
    Ryan Lochte
    Justin Gatlin

People love to claim the Russians are big cheats but if you look at who was doing much of the cheating from the eastern block pre 1990 is was East Germany. The Germans, Not the Russians.
But hey, follow what they media tells ya.
Like a broken clock they can be correct once in a while.
    Perchance.
