    • Department of stats employees playing games with departmental “feelz” cards, including “sun” and “moon” moods. If Chloe Swarbrick is not just in the promo but has had input into this policy then she is young and idealistic and it shows.

I liked Simon’s answer “if you asked about someone’s moon feelings they’d probably laugh or punch you”

    • Can I just say to the NP that not all your supporters have a FB account, or want one. Spread your messages further afield so we can all see what you are campaigning on. Where is the next “All Sizzle and No Sausage” advert?

    • If you’ve ever been over the Brynderwyns on St Hwy 1 north of Kaiwaka, it’s hardly a 21st century highway for 50-tonne trucks and a million cars per day. In my 15 years living in Northland there have been dozens if not hundreds of deaths between there and Whangarei due to head on collisions. NZTA 4-lane our highways dammit!

      • Travelled the Brynderwyns many times. Steep, winding, slow and clogged with traffic. Grinding up those hills behind barely moving trucks is a nightmare. Worst traffic accident I believe was a fully laden bus going over the edge. Remember the promise of the Greens not to build any more roads. Their ideology trumps NZ’ers road safety.

        • You are spot on! I knew the “holiday highway” would be canned with influence from the greens if they got into power. All that climate change crap. We need (good) roads- we are a growing country!

  1. I just came back from my first day as a trainee graphic designer…
“How did it go?” My wife asked.
“Okay,” I told her, “They told me, I should practice drawing things to scale.”
“Oh!” She replied, “What are you going to draw?”
“I might do my penis,” I joked, “You got any paper?”
She said, “There’s some post-it notes in the kitchen drawer.”

    • That segues into the court case regarding penis measurement. What a novel defence from an experienced barrister, he must have been waiting for a suitable case his entire career, it cetainly has them talking.

    • What I do not get is why we are changing to accommodate Muslims or anyone else in NZ, if I went to muslim country they would expect me, quite rightly, to play by their rules. Is it passive aggressive?

      • I believe it is something to do with those who are deemed downtrodden and need the help of the UN and financial aid and compassion from rich Western countries. Someone wrote an explanation that in the 50-60’s the Israeli Jews were the group deemed to be at the vulnerable group in the pecking order of the world so all support was thrown at them. Then 1967 came and the Jews triumphed over other ME countries in the 7 days war. Suddenly Israel was seen as strong and aggressive and the power balance changed. Now the Palestinians were the aggrieved group. Somewhere along the line it changed from downtrodden countries to Muslims as a group.

        • I do sometimes wonder if that is the tenor of threats? made to DPF, whether they are abusive towards his Jewish heritage, would that make one more sensitive to the emotions around the CH CH attack?

          • DPF did say it was in response to allowing David Garrett’s post, and I don’t even remember what the content of DG’s post was. DG is obviously a red rag to SJWs. Anyway, point is he could have taken the option of standing up to the threat and publishing to expose the nasty individuals attempt at shutting down free speech?

            • The David Garrett one was on Muslim Immigration. I see you made another reference to this blog on KB today, your first one got about 30 upticks, it is disappointing that they haven’t come on over yet. I told Chuck Bird about it yesterday, he has been over at Whale he has been so upset about the moderation. I think that he felt singled out and not appreciated how many others there are too.

  2. The battle of the authoritarian nannies vs the authoritarian local bodies is heating up:

The ultimate nannies, aka the NZ Transport Agency, state: If seriously tired take a 15-20 minute nap (no more than this). This is effective in restoring alertness and focus as a short term solution.

    Yeah. Sounds like good advice…….but…..

…..”An Arrowtown man who received a $200 freedom camping fine after sleeping in his vehicle in central Queenstown overnight”….. (Poor bastard probably didn’t pack an alarm clock)

Which is it to be? Who to believe? Which set of know-all wankers should prevail?

      • These council pricks are the lowest of the low in law enforcement. Sitting on the side of the road with uber expensive video cameras just waiting for some poor soul to fall foul of the stupid bus lanes that have emerged everywhere in Auckland and Manukau.

  3. I am really torn at the moment. My gut reaction is to vote Act ( because of their general policies, and mostly because of their response to the gun laws). BUT, I also realise that unless Nats get a good majority, the Act vote is potentially wasted. It’s not that I don’t like Simon, or any of them for that matter, I really believe Simon is an intelligent, decent bloke. I also believe that this is not the time for leadership crap in National. I fucking hate Winston the traitor, and I find Labour politicians just infantile and stupid, including our (Saint) Dear Leader. So it’s very much between Nat and Act, but how best to vote strategically and use MMP’s vagaries to the best advantage. Intelligent replies only, I don’t engage with fools. Labour scum can fuck right off, right now.

    • I don’t know what to tell you rol. ACT seem to be totally invisible apart from Seymour. I have no idea who their rep is for the Waikato. Guess some research is in order before the election. Keeping an eye on national but not very impressed so far…

    • I am in exactly the same position. Really pissed with National rolling over on the firearm legislation, joined ACT i a fit of pique. I will see how the remaining year or so plays out. It will be an interesting watch.

      • Act will get people if they can get numbers and its a chicken and egg thing. They have always had good policy. Just like the others though not always the right people. Act needs a few more like Seymour who think clearly andmore importantly who understand social media and communications. They have had lots of cash to spend but have wated most of it. It needs Trump style action.

    • Simon, like his mentor Bolger is an appeaser not a leader. Its all about “I think” not principled decisions. Don’t see anyone in the Nats with the right attitude unless you are Catholic or Maori.

  4. Hi Thanks. I really like your work and celebrate a forum to call a spade a spade. I really hope you get fantastic support. Don’t worry too much about the moderation, I am used to it on Kiwiblog, but I have to use a pseudonym to protect myself and my sanity. It’s sad that when working in a Lefty world, one feels that one has to keep political views secret.

  5. How come there isn’t a greater outcry about the Sultan of Brunei and his stand on homosexuality and being killed, Israel the sportsman is only saying what he thinks will happen when homosexuals have died.

Lucky he is such a great sportsman, shame he is a Christian, where only Christianity needs to be secular. If Australia fires him, will we take him, or are we too whipped and not a sporting nation anymore?
