    • You have to wonder who is the fourth charged wit misleading the SFO in the course with complying with a requirement ….of the serious fraud office act 1990 supplied information knowing it was false or misleading in material particular.

  1. To some the heading pic will make perfect sense; self-generating on-site and hydro-based (‘renewable’) electricity; ready to use, from water to the outlet. What is there not to like?

    I;m sure they’d get a real ‘charge’ out of using it

    Thank you.

  2. Heatherdu plessis-Allen responds to the obvious response to Peters scandal is…..
    The Prime Minister should be embarrassed by the Government she is leading. What is this the Government of everything goes, what does it take to get should down in this Government.
    I would argue this business with Winston Peters is taking the micky now.

    Obviously Heather has very sheltered life if she hasn’t noticed what most people in politics will say he has always been corrupt.

    • Heather is from South Africa I believe, they don’t have corruption there hence her inability to recognize it when it stares her in the face!

      (Oh, that’s sarc. in case you didn’t realize:-)

  3. It is worth reading this exchange with the Prime Ministers Chief Science Adviser. Then go pour yourself a good shot of whiskey, even at 6:30am and drink a toast to the end of reason and to farewell our country.

    • Thanks for that, Pascal.

      The “high priestess” in NZ of that cult seems to only believe in “computer modeling” with all it over-reaches and assumptions.

      Very interesting points, and needs to be much more further spread for general consumption, as the agenda of their beliefs, paints them into a corner.
      The fallacies and set up for those beliefs need to be revealed, so that truth can be seen, discussed and debated, to clear the air.

    • Minister Woods needs to read and absorb this before proceeding with her electricity reforms. I support any action to sensibly manage costs for consumers. I do not support any move to move towards zero carbon in the reforms where pointless costs will be inflicted on all consumers.

    • Bit strange . While National was in power they tried to move people in big State houses (esp. when there was only one or two in the house ) to another state house so there could be development of the big section. When the tenant kicked up the Opposition (ie. Labour) always supported the tenant.

      9

      0

      • Labour in opposition were like a dog chasing cars, they couldn’t resist opposing any law change by the Nats. It is the way Labour make their own policy decisions, it’s all about feelz, nothing about common sense or pragnatism

      • The idea was good.
        Pull down or have removed the big old uninsulated houses built over 60 years go that had old wiring (risk element of fire) and old plumbing that had sustained large use for more than half a century by tenants who generally did not and had no need to care, and replace with 3 modern dwellings on the same size section to fit the modern era.

        It was poorly sold.
        Bill English was very poor at selling ideas. Utterly hopeless in fact. 2002 and 2017 prove this.
        Then of course the lying media scum spun the story the way their unions tell them and the propaganda was rolling.

        This is where President Donald J Trump, Commander in Chief, is so much smarter.
        By pass the media swamp rats and send all you comms on twitter.
        Then the media swamp rats have to report on that. On facts everyone else can see.
        It is a war with the Marxist scum of media and tertiary institutions and cap guns don’t cut it.
        Notional needs to wake the feck up if it wants to communicate ….and 2020 is no different.

  4. ‘We all do things we are not proud of ‘ says out going Invercargill MP Sarah Dowie.
    A lot of people like to criticize MPs for not standing up for what they believe or hiding away there failures or the dirty washing from there mistakes. But full credit to Sarah dowie for the honest without smearing others in a honest assessment of hers.

    • Good on her but rooting a sleazy nutbag like Ross who was already in bed with sleazy Slater and a disciple of Lusk suggests she has very poor judgement.

      Although the same could be said for Soimon Bridges who was very close to Ross for years and could not read him at all. What happens if Bridges had to assess world leaders who are often duplicitous – he would fail miserably. He was only a public service lawyer in a provincial city. It is not like he made Partner of major law firm in his thirties. Those are the truly clever minds.
      Bridges was very, very close to someone who has been actively trying to destroy the Notional Party (JL Ross) for more than a year. Several SFO cases later…
      Should Bridges consider retiring in September?

      Credit to Dowie for owning her mistakes.
      Bridges, not so much.

      It is a tough life after all. A four day week for a bit over half a year.

    • What a disgrace this country is. The majority want to give up rights to the corrupt police state because – think of the children.

      Sleazy posturing aside, the demands of these creeps can be simply met by lying. Something those opposing the right to silence do everyday.

        • Exactly Rachael. Essentially it opens the door to allowing (as evidence) statements extracted under duress.

          Once that door is opened it will be applied to other things. Such as us “alt right” folk. So the regime’s police will not only raid your family home, but be permitted to use torture to extract confessions.

          Too extreme? Seems I’ve been told that every time. And every time my predictions have been right.

          • Couldn’t agree more Kea. This shit makes my blood run cold. If we line that up with the other “initiatives” by Comrade Ardern’s regimes (evolving weapons ban, armed raids on citizens expressing disapproval of Ardern, proposed hate speech legislation) it is a bleak future for this country if the citizenry doesn’t wake up.

            10

            0

      • So from what I can gather from the situation the family are either too frightened of the person that did this heinous act, in which case they should speak to the police when they are interviewed alone, (surely the police are interviewing them on their own) or they feel confident that he/she won’t actually do this to them? They should be very afraid that the person who did that to the poor child will turn on them and perhaps one day soon. Anyone that does that to a child is not a stable person. I cannot believe that there is nothing we can do. It’s a disgrace, they obviously learned the lesson from the Kahui family.

          • Look at the pieces of subhuman bacteria that polluted the short and painful life of Nia Glassie.

            That bacterial scum needed to be wiped out and any critters they had parented be removed from the gene pool .
            Clean the fecking slate!

            *WARNING* on this paragraph. Subhuman behaviour described :
            …Nia was subject to extensive physical abuse for weeks, possibly even months, before being admitted to hospital and dying of brain injuries on 3 August 2007. The court concluded that in addition to having had chunks of wood dropped on her and wrestling moves copied from a computer game practised on her, she had been kicked, beaten, slapped, jumped on, held over a burning fire, spit on, placed into a clothes dryer spinning at top heat for up to 30 minutes, folded into a sofa and sat on, shoved into piles of rubbish, dragged through a sandpit half-naked, flung against a wall, dropped from a height onto the floor, and whirled rapidly on an outdoor rotary clothes line until thrown off…

            Roll call of subhuman bacteria:
            Michael Curtis,
            Wiremu Curtis,
            Lisa Kuka,
            Michael Pearson,
            Oriwa Kemp.
            should have been wiped off the planet along with all their spawn.

            What we got instead was …Oriwa Kemp went on to have multiple children taken into care…

            This was in Rotorua where Merepeka Raukawa-Tait is based.
            Tait is saying kids should not be removed and therefore supports this child abuse.
            Tait (various names over the years) was convicted in 1993 for tax fraud and not paying over PAYE deducted from employees.
            Tait was a candidate for the Christian Heritage Party and personally recruited by convicted rapist Graham Capill. She was his deputy for a while. Capill himself was a police prosecutor before he went to trial for rape.

            What a dreadful web of warped critters there are out there.
            They love to lord it over others despite not having the moral nor intellectual fortitude to do so.

    • I don’t like removing the right to silence, but like everyone else I’m well over kids being bashed to death (or worse) and no one being held to account. Perhaps we could treat these cases the same way we do traffic infringements: it’s your car so tell us who was driving or we will charge you.
      Same with kids. Was the child in your care? Then tell us who bashed the child senseless or you will be charged with inflicting the harm by failing in your duty to protect the child in your care.

            To have ones parent banged up for dishonesty must be a requirement to be a Labour MP.

  5. What a Arsehole Baary Soper is , with Statements like this , Jacinda Ardern can’t forever remain blind to what going on around her.
    Then in his smarmy bitter way he starts to smear Paula Bennett for saying that sort of behavior is not acceptable in the National Leaders book, with Soper again smearing Bridges for his remarks on Maureen Pugh and Jamie Lee Ross.

      • Up until really recently we knew nothing about them Not even how they reproduced. Not even the common ones nor did we know how to capture them and keep them alive.
        Went to a talk by Steve the Squid man a few years back. bloody interesting.
        These big fella travel along on the currents way down deep in the dark. They meet, have a sexual encounter which is rather unique in its manner and the female produces a egg sack which when released floats around. The found that many of these egg sacks get smashed by trawl lines so the new squid never arrive. Hence the trawling restrictions off the West Coast.
        From memory there are 80 types of squid in the world and most of them are found in NZ. Creeks in Auckland have squid in them.
        When he started no one ever caught a full giant squid. Usually it was chopped in half by trawl lines.
        There is some relationship between these monsters and whales. as whales feed on squid and shrimps etc. Both have a pathway to the Antarctic and back. Over the Chatham Rise where all the fish used to be.
        Whales turn up on our beeches empty of food since the rise was heavily fished.

        Unfortunately Steve was not favoured by the Auckland Uni and for some reason (sex maybe or someone else wanted his job.) they parted company and he moved to Aussie. Still a really fascinating talk.
        Until he began researching squid no one had ever done so.

    • Yes, Odakyu, that’s exactly what he’s saying. It’s the same principle as ‘one man goes mad with a gun as so hundreds of thousands of innocent gun owners are persecuted’ or ‘three people left litter on a beach so virtually all plastic bags are made illegal’ etc etc etc

      This is the way our society works now. Unlike in Japan where cohesion and a common view of the world holds sway, New Zealand is becoming even more fractured by identitarian sub groups until we will become literally at war with ourselves.

      Bear in mind that this Becroft character used to be a fucking judge ….. and yet he sees fit to attack one of the most basic tenets of our Western legal system.

      15

      0

      • In Japan we have cohesion, identity, a common worldview*, homogenous ethnicity, a common languge, and yet our birth rate has crashed and our society is aging/dying. (Note: these same problems are far, far worse in South Korea.)

        *The “common worldview” of middle-aged Japanese may be significantly different to that of Japanese youth (20s). If we delve into the mindset of the Millenial Japanese (who has only ever known recession since the early 1990s) then we may begin to gain a better understanding of the problems in Japanese society today.

        Why do New Zealanders put up with people like Becroft? Isn’t it obvious that he is a closet totalitarian?

  8. I see Bernard Hickey has ripped the dribble to shreds this morning in Newsroom:

    https://www.newsroom.co.nz/2020/02/18/1040364/8-things-worth-knowing-from-bridges-economic-speech

    Entitled ‘6 Things worth knowing from Bridges’ big speech’, Hickey goes on to cold bloodedly analyse the dribble’s opening salvo yesterday in what will be a long drawn out election campaign.

    Simon Bridges says a National government would cut taxes for average earners and invest much more than Labour in infrastructure, and with less waste. But he’s holding back the detail, and got a key figure wrong, Bernard Hickey reports.

    I despair. Yesterday I predicted that the dribble party’s non-leader would be a pathetic flop…. but I didn’t think he would actually do this badly. He can’t even get his facts straight and he totally ignored all the big issues that are freaking out right thinking New Zealand at this watershed time in our history.

    5

    5

    • The article is reasonable. A few changes I’d make:

      * OECD comparisons are meaningless to us. We’re better off comparing ourselves to the Asia/Pacific region.
      * Looking at the ease of starting a business versus the ease of running a business are very different things.

      He’s right that National doesn’t seem to have much of a clue beyond sound bites. I look forward to reading Mr Hickey’s analysis of the Labour Party announcements in the same manner. After all, how does the World Bank measure hugs and feelings and fuck all outcomes?

      10

      0

      • I am not sure why National would disclose their policies now Pascal, there is still 7 months till the supposed election. I am happy with them playing their cards close to their chest. I just hope they have more substance to the sound bites and think they do, but I could be proven wrong. As far as I am concerned though no matter what they actually do they are one hell of a lot better than this pack of useless ones that form the col we have now.

        7

        0

        • Better get their ducks in a row, ready for an early election!
          Because how can the COL, electioneer when joined at the hip!

          5

          0

        • You don’t want to know what the policies are the party you support are likely to implement long enough before the election day to actually digest them? You’d blindly vote without knowing what they’re actually going to do? That sounds like blind fanaticism to me, not an informed vote for a better New Zealand.

          Looking even at the basics “Tax cuts for the average wage earner at 33%” when the average wage earner is on 19% and likely to receive a large chunk of various benefits. That type of sound bite is useless. Apart from his facts being wrong, what type of tax cut? Are we talking a substantial and costed one like ACT down to a flat tax rate for everyone? (It’s on their website) Or is he thinking a $50 a week type of number? That type of policy detail matter even this early in the campaign.

          And if Labour copies their policies and they’re good ones – I don’t care who implements them.

          3

          0

      • Socialist Cindy squawked on the AM Show yesterday that “We haven’t written our election policies yet”. After the 2017 election it was unbelievable to find Labour had to set up working parties of their supposed experts to draw up actual policies for their slogans they had run on.

        Labour have obviously not learnt that you can’t run a country on slogans, a wing, a prayer and feelz! 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡

    https://www.stuff.co.nz/life-style/homed/real-estate/renting/119593626/rental-reforms-landlords-slam-end-to-90day-no-cause-eviction-notices

    The Residential Tenancies Amendment Bill introduces a number of changes, including increasing financial penalties when the law is broken, anonymising details of the successful party in Tenancy Tribunal cases, ensuring tenants can make minor changes to properties and banning rent bidding.

    It will also require fixed-term tenancies to become periodic unless both parties agree otherwise, which is designed to stop all the tenancies in an area finishing at the same time in peak demand periods.
    It also gets rid of landlords’ ability to remove their tenants without giving a reason, if they give 90 days’ notice.

    Serious Fraud Office to investigate New Zealand First Foundation
    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2020/02/serious-fraud-office-to-investigate-new-zealand-first-foundation.html

    Newshub can confirm the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) is opening a formal investigation into the New Zealand First Foundation donations scandal.

    Last Monday, the Electoral Commission referred to police allegations the New Zealand First Party was hiding donations through the foundation. Police referred the case to the Serious Fraud Office.

    The Electoral Commission found the Foundation received donations which should have been treated as party donations and they weren’t properly declared.

    ~~~
    Peters can’t state anything factually. He also claimed on Magic Talk this morning that Shaun Plunkett had applied for a job with NZ First. When Shaun later arrived and Peter Williams asked him about it he said Peters offered him a job with NZF but he refused the offer.
    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/new-zealand/2020/02/mark-richardson-hits-back-at-people-generalising-kiwis-as-racist.html
    “I refuse to be bullied by the very woke media that we have at the moment. I’m starting to tire – I’ve been told I’m racist all the time. And what’s more, the more you tell me that, I think the more counterproductive it’s becoming. Anyone heard of pushback?
    “Alright I get it, I don’t get it, because I don’t get it, do I? I sort of do – Hone Harawira has the right to call me ‘you people’ doesn’t he? So if I don’t get it, what I’m going to tell you is what I actually believe, and I believe the vast majority of New Zealand is good, honest, loving people, and they’re the ones I’m going to focus on, champion and believe as representative of my country New Zealand.
    “So now I’m a denier, aren’t I, in your minds? Just like the climate debate, just like Trump. If you don’t condemn everything Trump does, therefore you support Trump don’t you? If you don’t say the world is burning because of climate change, then you’re a climate denier. But isn’t this ‘you’re either with us or against us’ absolute mentality the very thinking that you are campaigning against?
    “Racism exists in this country and it can’t be tolerated. Unfortunately, we can hand-wring all we like, but dickheads will still be dickheads. If you can make a difference to one person’s prejudice, please do. If I can, then I will. But please in the meantime, can you stop generalising?
    “I don’t think I, and most of us in New Zealand, actually deserve it.”
    • Everyone is racist for the same reason they love their kids. Controlling speech only makes it worse.
      The only issue is how it manifests itself. Most overtly racist people are decent and do not mistreat others.
      The most overt racism is towards the white minority who make up a diminishing 8% approximately of the world.
  14. From the New Zealand (i.e., general Western) perspective, you can get the impression that countries in Northeast Asia (South Korea, Japan and Taiwan) “have it sussed.” Don’t be too sure about that.
    In the immortal words of the great New Zealand scholar/ poet Frederick C. Dagg, “You don’t know how lucky you are, mate.”
    Class homework:
    Find out what you can about the following social phenomena affecting youth in the following countries.
    a) The Sampo generation of South Korea (“San-po” is only Level 3. It gets much worse…)
    b) The Strawberry generation of Taiwan
    c) The Satori generation of Japan
    And you thought that Western Millennials are a bunch of no-hopers.
    Mastercard is pioneering new payment technology that identifies commuters by the way they walk
    Ajay Bhalla, president of cyber and intelligence solutions for Mastercard, told MarketWatch in an interview: “We are working with transport organizations where your face or gait will authenticate you.
    “The way you hold your phone, which ear you use, and how your fingers touch the buttons are all unique to you. We have been testing heartbeat, vein technology, and the way people walk to authenticate people.”
    UK Professor: Only Way to Save Planet Is to ‘Let Humans Become Extinct’
    Giving birth to a child is “the worst thing you can do” to the climate, says philosophy professor Patricia MacCormack of Anglia Ruskin University.
    “The manifesto simply asks that humans no longer reproduce – no life is lost, no being is mourned,” she states. “If we no longer reproduce, we can care for all inhabitants already here, human and non-human, as well as care for the Earth itself by mitigating the damage already caused. It’s an activism of care.”
    2A Supporters, Gun Control Orgs React to Defeat of Virginia ‘Assault Weapons’ Ban
  20. One day, a father and his 14 year old son are in the bus.
    The son sees a stunning redhead and yells, ‘hey babe, you’ve got some nice tits!’
    The father, a religious man, thinks his son needs correction and sends him to a Catholic boarding school.
    Six months later the son comes home for the weekend, and again he and his father are on the bus.
    A nice blonde with a huge rack is sitting opposite of them. The father wants to know if the school taught him better manners, so he says: ‘Son, have you seen that blonde? What a nice breasts!’
    ‘Well’, the son says, ‘what would one do with breasts… but have you seen that bus driver’s arse?’
  22. I decided to be brave, inspirational and join my daughter in her second Taekwon Do class. I usually run around 8km a day, which isn’t much but I thought I was doing okay. Please, remember me kindly as the guy who loved motorbikes and food and his wife. Because right now I’m about to register as dead.
    • Yep. He even put a photo of the Mustang up on Crusader Rabbit then got all bitter & twisted when I pointed out that there was an inverse ratio between the size of a man’s dick & the cost of his gay Yank muscle car.
      Provoked quite a reaction as I remember. 🙂
    Remember Logans Run?
    ‘OK, Boomer’ mentality: Academics want to label old age a disease, in case you had any respect left for the elderly
    In their wisdom, 30 experts – from prestigious universities like Harvard, MIT, Stanford, Cambridge Imperial and UCL – have decided that ageing is no longer a normal feature of life. They want the World Health Organization to classify ageing as a disease. This diseasing of old age represents another blow to the moral status of the elderly.
