    • Isn’t it ironic – that after being under attack by the CoL – we’re now relying on them again?

Who gives a fuck about the environment when all the jobs have gone – is there any better illustration of how stupid the Green movement is?

I wonder if wonder girl and her henchman even have caught up with this 4 day p;d news now in Trumps hands.
We can make this stuff here.
Trump announces two drugs will be available ‘almost immediately’
    20 Mar, 2020 5:51am
During a briefing with the coronavirus Taskforce at the White House, the US President said the antimalarial drugs — hydroxychloroquine and Cloroquine— would soon be available for “prescribed use.”

“We have to remove every barrier or a lot of barriers that were unnecessary and they’ve done that to get the rapid deployment of safe, effective treatments and we think we have some good answers.

“This could be a tremendous breakthrough.”

    https://www.nzherald.co.nz/world/news/article.cfm?c_id=2&objectid=12318309

I would bet that none of them read much because this has been public along with 2 other old drugs named earlier by the Australians and the Japanese yet there is not a mention in our paoers, (where it was first announced on their websites) and nothing from the health Ministry (who to be fair are running around doing her bidding) nor any official source.

too slow to avoid a cold these people.

  3. “Freshman Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) is offering rare praise for President Donald Trump’s leadership, calling his response to the coronavirus outbreak “incredible.”
“Politics aside, this is incredible and the right response in this critical time,” Omar, a member of the progressive “Squad,” wrote Wednesday evening in response to a list of Trump’s actions in response to the virus and its devastating economic impact.”

Guess we will be seeing this endorsed by all the anti Trumpers any moment. Go, President Trump.

    • Hooker Phil ,That dog Omar is greasing for a presidential pardon she is in deep shit for an endless list of criminal activity, she is wasting her time I suspect her chances of a pardon are about as likely as watching an Adern speech without being hypnotised by her relentless swaying from side to side to side to side endlessly.

  4. As it is drizzling here this morning and I can hear the water running through the pipes: How long will it be before some Councils are seriously shut down so that supplies of water and sewerage and refuse collection cease or are severely cut.
Normally Council will have a number of staff employed in each area that can each cover for each other for normal sickness, holidays etc. If one of those contacts the virus and has been in close contact with all the other members of that unit, all should be required to stand down, at the same time.
Could be serious, guess that also goes for all the staff in any business, or supermarket.

[Deleted by DPF. If you think something I write is garbage then you can fuck off to aniother blog]

    • Cindy’s strategy in interviews is to ramble on about things unrelated to the question in order to burn up time. She comes prepared with a set of answers to deflect, and just bends them to fit anything she’s asked. Mike Hosking’s finally got tired of this, and this morning he cut her off several times while she was still dribbling away on some tangent. He does however seem to take his foot off her neck just before she’s forced to eventually admit she doesn’t know the answer.

There are several issues at play in Italy. Firstly Northern Italy has the highest concentration of elderly people in Europe.
I also read that for a very high percentage of Italians antibiotics do not work –they have become resistant to them, presumably because they have been vastly over prescribed in the past. A few days ago the Italian Health Authorities come out saying only 3% of the virus related deaths were due to the virus –ie. a secondary infection killed the patients.

    • We are 2.5 weeks behind where we should be.

How much of this is attributable to Ardern wanting her ‘moment in the sun’ on March 15?

      11

      0

      • I’d guess a week at least is attributable to Cindy wanting to gain leverage from the Chch tragedy. It’s telling that they canned it the day before. The fact that they couldn’t wait another day means they were watching the situation deteriorate until they absolutely had no choice. And still I’d hazard that the reason they canned it was not out of concern for citizens, but because they were finding themselves on wrong side of public opinion.

    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2020/03/government-planning-mercy-flights-to-extract-kiwis-stuck-overseas-amid-coronavirus-pandemic.html

Peters’ comments came after he announced that Government is raising New Zealand’s overseas travel advice to the highest level amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Peters said this is the first time New Zealanders have been advised by the Government against travelling anywhere overseas, which he said reflects the seriousness of the current coronavirus outbreak.

Therefore these radio and TV stations that interview people like purple haired crazys are spreading misinformation.

Will the Govt take action to stop this?
Or do they allow misinformation/speculative channels to continue?

If you make the rule, enforce the rule or it is not a rule. It has no meaning.

    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2020/03/coronavirus-government-announces-100-million-forestry-redeployment-package-for-gisborne.html

Economic Development Minister Phil Twyford, Forestry and Regional Economic Development Minister Shane Jones and Employment Minister Willie Jackson announced the funding on Friday.

Twyford said COVID-19 has had a “significant” impact on workers throughout New Zealand, but acknowledged that forestry workers in Gisborne have been the hardest hit.

“Our Government is moving quickly to help people stay in work through a $100 million package which will see workers redeployed into local alternative employment for the next three to six months. Of this funding, $28 million will go to Tairāwhiti [Gisborne] to help redeploy almost 300 workers.

If you were a super power and owned most of the western worlds media, pharmaceuticals, energy resources etc and the only way to secure complete dominance was to fabricate a crisis and then recover relatively quickly while still pushing the threat, you’d have a window of opportunity to install a truly socialist, greed driven, totalitarian world order.

……. New Zealander who’s also the Washington Post’s bureau chief in Beijing – though she’s currently in self-isolation on Waiheke Island in Auckland. ……

…… Anna Fifield says Chinese authorities are now trying to change the narrative of how the virus spread around the world.

” China seizes on every opportunity to make the US look bad … but in this situation Donald Trump has made it very easy to continue spouting this propaganda.

“But China actively suppressed this information at the beginning.

“Scientifically we can see it stemmed from a market in Wuhan. Scientists say it seems to have originated in bats and then jumped to an intermediate carrier … and has then gone to humans. That’s peer-reviewed information.

“But now China has started up this narrative about how maybe it didn’t come from China – maybe in fact it came from the United States – as part of this broader ideological, political, economic war between the countries.

“This is clearly fake news – clearly something China is trying to push to absolve itself of blame for the crisis, because I think they can see, across the world, there is going to be a lot of blowback against China.”

    • A good time line of the dodges in this china virus cover up and who was involved in this and how they collaborated as far back as November last year.

The Chinese need to be burnt with shame.
We need to see them for what they are, opportunists using the cover of entrepreneurial ability.

Like they did a few years ago, taking down Fonterra and their own babies, severely ill & dying. Sure the the ones shoveling the melamine into milk, but the cover up into high levels, until after the “successful” Olympic Games.

How can NZ trust anything they make, to meet whatever the standards, that can be so easily exempted for that ideology.
Nor can we trust how they may wish to influence us.
      Pollies are you listening?

Still money talks, and controls, even us, but more exposure with commonsense is needed, as in many things.

    • Germany’s government creates “fake news” to maintain its ideological hold, just like the Chinese government of lies.
Their ideological sparring to put it on Trump, as if that is putting Germany on a war footing. 🙁

The attempt to whip up anti-Americanism appears to be an effort by the German government to blunt public criticism of German Chancellor Angela Merkel and her cabinet for their lackadaisical response to the coronavirus epidemic.
      .
The story was quickly picked up and uncritically disseminated by print and broadcast media throughout Europe — and America. Nearly all quoted the Die Welt article verbatim without confirming the story on their own.
      .
“To make it clear again on coronavirus: CureVac has not received from the US government or related entities an offer before, during and since the Task Force meeting in the White House on March 2. CureVac rejects all allegations from press.” — Statement by CureVac, March 16, 2020.
      .
U.S. Ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell denied the allegations. “Not true,” he tweeted. “The Welt story was wrong. But Business Insider, Reuters and others went with it anyway despite not having their own sources. Now everyone is back peddling.”
      .
The newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine, in an article titled, “CureVac Has Not Received an Offer from the U.S. Government,” described the Welt article as “Fake News” concocted by CureVac in order to secure government funding. The paper suggested that the German government helped to promote the lie…
      .
“A German minister, who heard from another German minister, that a German journalist, who was not there, reported that the U.S. president offered $1 billion for a company that has not yet developed a vaccine against COVID-19…. For my taste, much hearsay, the striving of Die Welt for many clicks, the fueling of resentment against Trump and perhaps intelligent marketing by the company for public funding in times of the corona crisis.” — Reader comment in Die Welt, March 17, 2020.

So a government misleads everybody, not even correcting anyone, but simultaneously want to be the only “go to authority” of knowledge and guidance.
Creating a fake enemy so they can go on a war footing. hmm history repeats or rather rhymes like Danzig Crises, where the first shots were fired, 80 years ago.

Certainly no different for any that follow that socialist ideology, whether trees, houses, plastic bags, carbon taxes etc etc…
All whilst demanding money with menaces, supposedly for your good.

  25. Well that didn’t take long:
Coronavirus: Hospitality revenues falling fast, claims Government rescue package ‘does nothing’

“. . .the Government’s announced $8.7 billion financial rescue package for business does not allow for adequate support for struggling medium-sized businesses with more than 20 staff or larger firms as it did with small firms.”

“The $150,000 cap would support businesses with approximately 21 staff, Gray said.”

“According to Statistics New Zealand, 90 per cent of New Zealand businesses have 19 or fewer employees.
The remaining 10 per cent of businesses employing 20 or more people are responsible for almost 72 per cent of the country’s workforce.”

“Although the headline figure of $12.1b is significant, 72 per cent of employees are being left unsupported. Medium and large employers need to know whether they are going to receive help for their employees before it is too late.”

  28. Simon says:

    Dear

I understand many of you will be worried in light of recent events regarding Covid-19. The reality is that this is an unprecedented event and I don’t blame you for having concerns. But I encourage everyone to keep calm and follow advice from public health officials, and do your best to limit contact and slow the spread of this virus.

Our borders are now closed and the situation is fluid. These are uncertain and challenging times for all us.

You will all be aware that we are closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation. We keep you up to date with information as it comes to hand from the many Government agencies involved in the response.

Most of us remember when we knew our neighbours, but now in this online age we may not know as many. Now is the time that we can all step up and look after ourselves, families, friends and neighbours. In particular we need to ensure that we protect the vulnerable in our community. Our seniors, a vulnerable group, are worried as not all have family support.

My electorate office is receiving an increasing number of enquiries from not only Tauranga constituents, but nationwide, as people don’t know where to go for information.

The health and safety of our people and our community remains my main priority. You need to feel protected and supported, and it is vitally important that we protect ourselves too.

I’ve detailed below some of the most frequent queries and links to responses for the most common questions being asked.

How can I best protect myself?

Good handwashing and personal care are the best ways for you to protect yourself. These measures can be found here.

It sounds simple, but proper handwashing with soap, and ensuring your hands are 100% dry, is one of the best defences.

The Ministry of Health is the Government agency leading the response to COVID-19 and provides health advice including symptoms, prevention, treatment and how the virus spreads.

Where can I go to get the most up to date information on the virus?

The official website for information about the virus is http://www.covid19.govt.nz

How can access support for my business?

The Government Business website brings together all the Government information relating to Covid-19 and how you can stay as up to date as possible

I am elderly or disabled, what support is available to me?

The Ministry of Health website references useful links on information for aged care providers, disabled people and residential care providers.

Should the situation change and schools are closed, where will I find information on school closures?

The Ministry of Education website offers the most up to date information and resources for parents, caregivers and teachers about COVID-19 and how it affects our education sector.

How can I look after my mental wellbeing?

Your emotional and mental wellbeing is important. It is normal to feel stressed or lonely when self-isolating, but there are some things you can do to feel better and keep well, visit this site to keep mentally healthy.

What can I do to help you?

If you don’t feel comfortable using the internet, we can provide you with information over the phone.

Please call the office on 07 577 0923 or 07 579 9016 and we’ll help you any way we can. Keep up to date with new information, follow me on social media or subscribe to my newsletter.

I know that the extra precautions we are taking, such as “social distancing”, seem odd, and sometimes hard to do. But together we will get through this, it’s vital that we take these extra precautions with our physical contact to keep healthy and safe.

Please look out for each other, stay safe and stay healthy, all of us can make a huge difference.

          • And it will for the one reason it will not consider.

It doesn’t represent the values of secular Kiwis who don’t want or need a government to tell them who they should marry, the circumstances of their deaths, what women should do with their bodies, what they can smoke, what they can drink & legislate for a hundred other intrusions courtesy of the religious nuts who have taken over the party.

            • The funny thing; the majority of those who won’t vote for National for the reasons you have listed will happily turn around and vote for Labour. Not realising they’ve flipped the coin to tails and are now getting the same deal, just stinkier.

People need to vote for a real libertarian party – not a group of religious nuts or a wank of communists pretending to be liberal.

  30. At last. BUT , there is always a but in this country.
Kiwi Covid-19 cases may soon be recruited for clinical studies looking at whether medicines used for malaria and HIV could help infected patients recover.

The studies – being hosted at Auckland City Hospital and others here and in Australia – are among a surge in trials investigating whether anti-viral drugs might offer a stop-gap defence against the new coronavirus until a vaccine could be found.

Covid-19-positive patients admitted to hospital – either in a medical ward, if their illness was not severe, or in an intensive care department, if their illness was severe – would be offered the option of taking part, said Associate Professor Mark Thomas, of the University of Auckland’s School of Medical Sciences.

Aussie is using it, America is starting and we are going to do trials.
