  1. Theresa May did seem to know that she would stuff things up with Brexit one way or the other, but one does have to admit, the precautions have put the UK. in good stead for this chinese viral attack.

Former Prime Minister Theresa May ordered “no deal” planning “to step up” – and thanks to her foresight Britain now has tons of supplies amid the Chinese Coronavirus crisis and it will keep us going for months.

The British Government imported more than £22 billion worth of processed food and drinks in the event of a no-deal Brexit and to show that Britain was ready to go it alone.

Similar stockpiles were also prepared for medical supplies amid fears of chaos at British ports in the event of a no-deal Brexit.
    https://www.politicalite.com/brexit/revealed-uk-food-supply-at-full-capacity-thanks-to-no-deal-brexit-planning/

So no fear of breaking the food bank in the UK.
Probably needs to be used up, or turned over to freshen the “use by” “best before” dates but nice to know, the stock pile is there.

  2. EU calls for fundamental solidarity many times, and demands it like redistributing refugee/migrant going to the EU court to enforce it.
But then “We asked for supplies of medical equipment, and the European Commission forwarded the appeal to the member states,” Italy’s permanent representative to the EU, Maurizio Massari, told Foreign Policy. “But it didn’t work.”
In addition, Germany and France, leading EU member states, even imposed bans or limitations on the export of facemasks and protective equipment. ……
….. an organization that pledges solidarity as a founding principle, but abandons that principle the moment it is most called for. ……
….. Greek-Turkish border has shown the EU not only as unhelpful, but an actual liability;- …..
…. Merkel said, according to a report by Die Welt, that she would work “with all her strength” to “take the EU-Turkey agreement to a new level”. ,,,,

    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/15774/european-union-the-end

This EU solidarity will be a very costly affair, that Merkel proposes with Turkey, and that word “solidarity” is used to leverage, pressure communities into the communist system, or have the cracks in this subterfuge house of cards with-stand many more winds, as the trough feeding elites do not care about the collateral damage it creates

        • A nice pic of the tent and blockade and then their aims

But Tairawhiti Area Commander Inspector Sam Aberahama asked communities to rethink road blocks.

“We know the community is very concerned about Covid-19, but this is illegal,” he said. “We urge people to be kind to each other during these unprecedented times. We need to work together as a country, and as a region, to take care of ourselves, our whanau and the wider community.”

  4. “If some big chief dies next week, probably lots of people will go,” said Tipene-Leach. “But if that same big chief was to die in two months’ time, when things are not easily controlled, then many people will need to make the sensible option of saying I don’t think we’ll go.

“Not going is a good public health thing to do. As opposed to us feeling guilty. Ko tērā mea Māori he kanohi kitea.”

Tipene-Leach said Māori needed to get organised. Many had already started working on their plans including advising their tribal members to use customary facial expressions such as raising eyebrows instead of hongi.

He said Māori may need to consider e-tangi, livestreaming on Facebook or other social media.
But the Māori Council is against ending tangihanga.

In a Covid-19 response guide with a wide range of recommendations it released on Wednesday, the Council said iwi and hapū would have protocols and advice based on their own tikanga (customary practices).

The Council is encouraging marae to ensure there are sanitisation and social distance measures from each other particularly in the wharenui (meeting house) where people sleep or house the deceased.

  5. Though the experts decried the No.8 wire as being a bad mentality, now we pray that it does not leave us.
I am sure NZ No 8 wire legends can also do something similiar.

So who was trying to get a tally of the ventilators?

Lets hope that Utube does not take down that video, because of some copyright nonsense. 🙁

    • I certainly hope so, but I would not count the chickens before they hatch.
Just what are the Communists UN WHO EU, Democrats, Labour prepared to cover up and do?

The effects of this virus, has not been fully studied, and there is a lot more to come out.
Just look at the cover up in the 5 cruise ships around Australia and New Zealand, not even to look out of the window.

I think it is too early to tell about China, and do not trust, as they also have a political agenda, not only in controlling their people, expendable as collateral damage for their longer term aims.

Censorship, corruption to the highest level , to maintain power.
Netizens seem to be showing something different, though I also figure it could be spiked with rumours, but truth can only be covered in this instance for a few months.

  6. Good for the goose? Newshub-Pravda continues the war on landlords

Skeletor’sSocialist Cindy’s mouthpiece – Newshub – continues the unabated assault on landlords despite the call for “kindness” amid the Chinese Virus epidemic manufactured by the CoL.

Apologies if this has already been posted in the past – but I feel this sort of hatespeech has to be covered again. Poverty porn advocates are “a href=https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/money/2020/03/coronavirus-landlords-urged-to-defer-rent-increases-and-help-tenants-stay-in-their-homes-amid-crisis.html>calling for landlords to put aside rent increases reports Newshub.

And as usual with our legacy media whores – there is not one attempt to balance the story. They cherry-pick bland bits after contacting landlord representative groups but as usual they lie by omission.

I’m very happy not to put up rents as a community response, AFTER the fucking government:
    – suspends the incredibly punitive new measures they want to bring in currently
    – return expensing rental losses against income
    – suspend the existing insane penalty payments for landlords regime introduced last year for trivial offences
    – allow landlords to evict bad tenants
    – postpone the new high cost heating requirements
    – announce a government Covid19 support package for landlords as the biggest housing provider in the nation (owning 10x what the government does)

The need for huge rent increases is a direct response to the government’s assault on landlords.

When those do-notihing fascists back the fuck off then we can talk about rent rise postponements.

But landlords are people too, people who pay bills, who may have jobs under threat, who have family members to support too. The only difference between landlords and the vast majority of renters – is that they’ve been productive members of society who have made good life choices.

Why should landlords go bankrupt so ne’er do wells can get another free ride?

Fuck off Newshub, trying being professional for a change.

    • Quite right DP, as I feel so offended by that media release so it must be considered “hate speech”
I know that the system of academia, media, politicians will cook up other colonists privilege etc… charges.

Will we even be able to get electricians, plumbers, insulation fitters, but no mention of extension of time.
Not only those costs being demanded and imposed on landlords, but massive fees & penalties will be charged, some being windfall compensation for tenants too.

  7. Bloke who has tested positive in Taupo (well was in Auckland then flew to Taupo) was unable to get through to Helpline for four days. Ended up going else where. Four days!!!! And this hasn’t even started yet. They are not prepared.
Yesterday Cindy does a Winston Churchill address to the nation; not to tell use we’re being bombed, but that the CoL have created a scale of 1-4 to let us know how they think it’s going with virus. Then we start at level 2. I’d say give it a couple of weeks and we’ll be at level 4, so that was a complete waste of effort. Nothing like getting everyone to look at you on TV though, with Michael Savage (must be turning in his grave) strategically positioned over your shoulder, and draped with NZ flags. Makes you want to vom.
After being repeatedly be asked, Princess and the Reverend are not able to find out how many test kits we have. Bullshit. They won’t tell us because we’re hopelessly short. That’s why we haven’t been testing when we should have been. Cindy bends the truth by saying have 30,000 swabs, swabs being only part of the test kit. And even if we have 30,000 kits, at the rate of 1,500 per day, we’ll run out in three weeks if we’re not getting more.

  8. Impeachment – this is what foreign interference in an election looks like

During the clown show in the US Senate at the start of the year – most sane observers were asking what the senile old front-bum Pelosi was doing with her long drawn-out Impeachment dance. It was doing her any good, it made the Dems look like utter fuck-knuckles, there never was a hope in hell of getting the God Emperor impeached, it has turned the electorate against them wholesale, it kept presidential candidates like Sanders and Warren away from the campaign trail at the most important time for the party.

    But now we know.

All the while that the Impeachment circus was going on – China’s Chinese virus epidemic was blowing up. And the whole world was looking at Washington – the 24 hours news cycle was utterly dominated by goby-eyed Schiff self-destructing on world TV.

It’s been clear for a while that there have been seriously dodgy connections between the DNC and China (Feinstein’s chauffeur, the secret gmail address that diverted Hilary’s emails to China from her private server) but now we know – the DNC have ceased even the charade of representing the US voter. Everything they do serves China’s national interests.

The impeachment farce was about diverting the Executive at a time when they should have been focussed on preventative measures for the Chinese virus.

Sadly, in NZ the Chinese had it much easier. Having hosted Cindy during her year as President of the Young Socialists – she was already fully lined up to defer, delay, put-off, dither, bobble her head as long as it was needed to ensure Chinese virus took root here.

        I am wailing!
They will be listening to their Oracle in the Pulpit spouting something….. not useful and chasing holy ghosts

I just looked up Lent. It is based on
‘ By observing the 40 days of Lent, Christians replicate Jesus Christ’s sacrifice and withdrawal into the desert for 40 days’
Ah, they had this self isolating gig 2000 years ago.
        God sees all.

They will be mumbling into their rosary beads and then in the day job, backing Liebour in what they do.
Lets have Gun control, Zero carbon and lots of control over people.
Lets deploy the cops to charge in on people having ‘bad thoughts’ like libertarianism, equal rights, prompt justice. heterosexuality is fine , only two genders, free speech, national pride.

That is the problem with Notional being stacked with religos.
They are used to following, not leading.
They follow a fantasy world so are not much use when hard pragmatism is required.

  9. I spoke to my daughter, a student in Wellington, last night. She sounded sick as a dog, sore throat, cough etc. She can’t get tested for cv19 as she hasn’t had ‘direct contact’. She works part time at a popular fast food restaurant in the city. Can’t get time off for being sick as they are too busy. They have been ‘unofficially’ told by management that if they need to cough, to go behind a screen where customers can’t see them to do so.

I can’t see this virus being contained.

  10. Sit rep:

In Europe black immigrants continue looting shops and coughing and spitting in the faces of elderly. The internet giants are flat out trying to remove video footage of it.

Here in Welly most of the farmers decided not to come to the big Sunday farmer’s market on the waterfront.

Long lines of frightened woke farmer hating urban wankers desperate for food.

My advice to farmers is look after yourselves and community first. Let cities rot and burn in their own filth. Remember they are a “tech economy”

    12

    0

    • We never got the tech economy.
We are by far a net importer of tech.

We also never got the ‘Big Finance’ John Key talked about BEFORE he was elected PM.
It sounded like a good idea.
      Nothing happened.

The state of NZ in 1979.
The biggest company was NZ Forest Products.
There was no Fletcher Challenge nor CHH.
Our electrical engineers were trained at the Post Office and Mechanical engineers trained at the Railways.
      Good training too.
We were a mixed market economy with Agrarian and manufacturing.
Then 5 years later manufacturing was wiped out.
So we were a basic agrarian economy.
It was tough for 15 years until we lucked in with Milk.
The great Socialist Bolger’s lot did nothing, nada, zip for the economy.
We fell way behind Australia because the Chicago School of Economics theory was followed.

Tourism was built up but this happened world wide so was not a Unique Selling Point.
Tourism is fragile. A political gust of wind and it stops.
This happened in 1990 with the Gulf war.
It sunk Brierly’s as they had just invested big in thistle hotels.

NZ is a basic agrarian based economy with some clip ons.
There is a huge service economy giving each other Uber rides, making coffee, and teaching about how the Maori were hard done by.
Wine is still agrarian despite what the hipsters like to think (do they think?)

The oversea education is not bad but is No 5 choice after USA, UK, Canada, and Australasia so we will never get the cream.
Much of it is a scam such as the sourcing of Indians for ‘education’ – really just a Govt backed Visa scam.

But the good thing is, we are corruption free.
I’d say stick that in your pipe and smoke it but we will be smoke free in 5 years.

      6

      0

      • “Corruption free” ??? All going up in smoke.

At the moment the snouts in the trough, are tripping every one over with Fees, Regulations, Penalties, Laws, Directives, Fines, Rates, Taxes, all extorting demanding money with menaces.
All the while saying as Goebbels would, that it is a form of a love tax, kindness & well being budget of redistribution.

Done with little accountability & little responsibility, but to enjoy the feelz. to enjoy the stadiums, equal pay sports, cycle-ways, trains, etc.. whilst all will have equal out come. yeah right.

  11. What will today’s total be? I think it’s going to 250

So it seems we were all right when we were worried that there was already community transmission before it was announced. I mean if you import loads of people from ground zero, you don’t test and you don’t quarantine them – it’s fucking obvious that it was going to be in the community.

I’m trying to imagine how the conversation between bobblehead and Dr Silly Name from the Ministry of Health went:
Bobblehead (BH): Have we got community transmission yet?
    Dr Silly Name (DSN): No
BH: How do you know that?
DSN: Because we haven’t had any cases yet
BH: But you haven’t done any testing?
DSN: Correct. We fucked up and we have next to no test kits so we’re saving them for when we really need them
BH: So when is testing most useful?
DSN: At the very start so we can isolate carriers and prevent community transmission. That’s what the WHO are saying.
BH: So why didn’t we test everyone we brought in from Wuhan they’re almost likely to be carriers?
DSN: Because we didn’t have community transmission at that point
BH: Shouldn’t we have isolated them from the get go in real quarantine?
DSN: No. Because we didn’t have community transmission at that point
BH: Ok what about closing the schools, didn’t Italy do that as an early measure?
DSN: Yes, but we don’t have community transmission at this stage – so there’s no need to do that
BH: But you know what kids are like they’re like little plague vectors, they pick up everything that’s going around
DSN: Yes but we don’t have community transmission at this stages so there’s no need to do that

My pick is that when the testing results are announced today – we’ll have gone from 53 yesterday to nearly 250 today.

What do you think it’ll be fellow YSBers?

    12

    0

    • I’m going a bit more conservative. Say total of 80 today. Will they tell us the truth. Our test limit of 1,500 per day is ridiculous. Soon 1,000 a day will be infected, and to find them you’d need to be testing many, many thousands per day.
We are definitely NOT “going early and going hard”, as Cindy would have us believe. Imagine how much better off we’d be now if Princess had gone for border closures and event shutdown a week before March 15.

      9

      0

    • There is a formula for determining the approximate number of cases per known number. Based on community transmission.

I dont recall the ratio but you are massively underestimating the numbers.

Like I said a month ago, this cant be stopped or contained.

      3

    • Your writing style is great, DP, and the points you make are spot on…. but there’s a serious fault with the scenario you described.

Ardern isn’t intelligent enough to ask questions like this.

      12

      0

      • Lol – as I was writing that, I was thinking – I can imagine Dr SillyName saying that stuff. I couldn’t imagine Cindy asking sensible questions (but then I guess that’s why we are where we are now).
        Fair cop though 🙂

  12. More of the Cruise ship petri-dish saga.

Too many New Zealand connections as Ardern was so blithe, about not even turning and looking through a window, whilst repeating her lies to Hoskin.

when the Ruby Princess arrived in Sydney on March 8, its captain claimed no one aboard was ill.
But in fact, the ship logged 158 unwell passengers using an online government portal, known as the Maritime Arrivals Reporting Systems (MARS).
    Breaching MARS is an offence.
This means the Ruby Princess was then free to take on its next load of passengers and set sail to New Zealand.
It is on this cruise that four people were struck with the virus.

    • Celebrity Solstice, confirmed case joined the ship in Auckland on March 10, docked in Sydney on March 20
    https://www.msn.com/en-au/news/australia/five-cruise-ships-that-were-allowed-to-dock-in-sydney-were-infected-with-coronavirus/ar-BB11uy5K?li=AAgfLCP

  13. Europe has been flooded by black and Muslim immigrants. Because woke.

Keeping their brown pets was all good fun when the economy was rambling along. Now they are faced with very different circumstances.

Now they don’t have the resources to give handouts to their violent pets. Their pets are not domesticated and are already going wild.

Don’t feel sorry for the smug gutless Europeans. Leave them to their Trump hating and colonization of indigenous white lands. Rejoice as their cities burn, their family are raped and murdered. These things were happening anyway and they dealt with it by attacking those who spoke out.

So focus on being good to folk at home and let woke urban wankers burn.

    • The left are using this to justify increased surveillance and monitoring, in addition to internet censorship. This will be maintained and increased post pandemic. Because – public safety.

At this point we are heading towards a global takeover by the extreme left. They are terrified of losing their power and maintaining power is their ONLY concern during the pandemic.

The situation is very fluid and could change. But right now we are heading rapidly towards totalitarianism way beyond the pandemic period.

I was asked for my telephone number when I went in –they said it was for the Health Dept. in case someone tested positive and they needed to track contacts. I had no real issue with that, although they could have got it from my library card details. ( but there would other people in there not taking out books)

  16. Idiots around the world stealing toilet paper

Coronavirus: British police nab toilet paper thieves
    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/world/2020/03/coronavirus-british-police-nab-toilet-paper-thieves.html

British police said on Saturday they had discovered a haul of stolen toilet paper and hand wash products – in short supply due to the spread of coronavirus – after stopping a vehicle that had also been stolen.

Three men were arrested late on Friday for burglary offences relating to the dozens of packs of toilet paper and hand sanitiser, which have been hard to find in stores in Britain as shoppers rushed to stock up, and for the theft of the vehicle.

A billion pounds (NZ$2 billion) of extra food have been squirreled away over the past three weeks, putting massive pressure on supermarkets, environment and food minister George Eustice said.

  18. This was up on KB yesterday. I wonder if the police are breaching the Electoral Act.

Does the “right” in Right Minds stand for right-wing? [We had to pause our conversation at this point owing to my needing a full minute to laugh.]

Do you donate to any political parties or other organisations?

Do you know what New Conservative’s immigration policy is?

Do you know any representatives of the New Conservative party?

    This is chilling, if correct.

If the Police can’t understand the difference between mainstream political parties such as New Conservative and radical extremist groups, then that is a huge problem.

    • Hi Chuck, YSB had this as a post on thought police a couple of days ago. Keep up!

You are correct, our police are too woke. They should not be questioning the public on their political beliefs. Our police force are meant to be neutral on such things and showing their bias and lack of awareness on such constitutional matters makes me wary of them having an agenda.

Nah, doesn’t smell right. There is no actual facts just a bunch of wishful thinking and dots he has tried to join. Right in the middle of those dots is the biggest reason of all, Whaleoil’s favourite politician:

You are on our own. Old people will not even get respirators when this bites. If you dont fit the demographic of a Party supporter you will be left to die alone.

People need to wake up to what a vile monster Ardern is. She is a life long communist firmly committed to mass death of the old school to bring revolution.

She burns with hate and malice towards society and people. Anyone who thinks she is trying to protect us is delusional.

“Our Government’s $12.1 billion economic package will help many Māori whānau, workers and businesses, whether it’s through wage subsidies, income support and worker redeployment, or the $500 million fund to strengthen our fight against COVID-19, and ensure health services are there for those who need them the most,” Associate Health and Whānau Ora Minister Peeni Henare said on Sunday.

“But as Māori Ministers we know there are specific challenges for Māori that require a specific response.”

    In Sunday’s announcement is:

$10 million reprioritised from Vote Māori Development for ‘community outreach’
$30 million for Māori health services
    $15 million for Whanau Ora
$1 million to provide Māori business with advice and planning
$470,000 for Te Arawhiti “to engage and work with iwi on their COVID-19 pandemic response plans” (Te Arawhiti is a Crown agency “dedicated to fostering strong, ongoing and effective relationships with Māori across Government).

“My Māori ministerial colleagues and I know we must act now to protect our people, particularly our kaumātua and those who already have significant health issues,” Henare said.

  29. Total cost of her COVID-19 treatment: $34,927.43

(TIME) When Danni Askini started feeling chest pain, shortness of breath and a migraine all at once on a Saturday in late February, she called the oncologist who had been treating her lymphoma. Her doctor thought she might be reacting poorly to a new medication, so she sent Askini to a Boston-area emergency room. There, doctors told her it was likely pneumonia and sent her home.

Over the next several days, Askini saw her temperature spike and drop dangerously, and she developed a cough that gurgled because of all the liquid in her lungs. After two more trips to the ER that week, Askini was given a final test on the seventh day of her illness, and once doctors helped manage her flu and pneumonia symptoms, they again sent her home to recover. She waited another three days for a lab to process her test, and at last she had a diagnosis: COVID-19.

  30. Courtesy Hobson Pledge.

This sort of shit is starting to wear VERY thin.

“No justification for race-based Covid-19 funding”

There is not the slightest justification for allocating $56-million in Covid-19 funding on the basis of race, Hobson’s Pledge spokesperson Casey Costello said today.

    In today’s announcement:

$10 million from Vote Maori Development is for community outreach,
$30 million for Maori health services,
    $15 million for Whanau Ora,
$1 million to provide Maori business with advice and planning,
$470,000 for Te Arawhiti, the Government’s “Treaty partnership” agency, to engage with iwi on their pandemic response plans.
“Race-based funding is an affront to all New Zealanders, especially at a time when we are being reminded to work cooperatively and in unity,” Ms Costello said.

“This Government has yet again sought to placate outspoken individuals claiming to represent Maori,” she said.

“There is absolutely no evidence that Maori are suffering any more than other New Zealanders,” Ms Costello said.

“And there is no evidence that the allocation of this funding will be tagged with any acceptable level of accountability,” she said.

“Maori are eligible for all state funded aid and support so separate funding at a time of pending crisis makes a mockery of response strategies,” she said.

“The challenge now is not what else the Government can do but what Maori corporations and trusts who claim to represent the interests of Maori are prepared to do to support our people,” Ms Costello said.

    • What we need is to be preparing spaces, for the worst case scenario, to house/isolate and hopefully treat those that will need care.
This has nothing to do with race.
from memory, here is their idea of priority:
      >$2 billion to raise benefits.
      $500 million for health
      $160 million for ICU capacity
      now $57 million for Maori.
      WTF?

This failure around human priorities is actually terrifying if the worst case predictions turn out to be the correct ones.
At the moment I think we are relying on luck, trust in luck holding that Cov-19 isn’t already set to explode with internal transmission.
So far it seems to all be traced overseas (testing bias?) – but if they really dont want a collapse of the heath sector, and real deaths, then they need to stop pandering to their ideology and getting onto a war time footing.
      i.e: questions:
What bandwidth do we have to expand ICU and beds?
Military construction, stadiums, public buildings can house how many people if this was life and death?
What industrial ability do we have to prepare for protective equipment? (can the factories previously producing our single use bags be fired back up?).
Is there ANY critical or useful equipment we might be manufacturing now as insurance, in case it is needed?
Can we remove the H&S constraints on scale of production of hand sanitisers? what else?
Have we asked entrepreneurs, scientists or business people for any ideas we might not have thought of, how many different ways might we prepare for the worst?

It is lack of capacity which kills.
I don’t think we know how bad Cov-19 really is for NZ, so don’t want to see them cut the throat of the economy,.
Yet at the same time I don’t get from COL funding announcements that they are doing anything like what could well be needed if we go even partly the way of Italy.
At the moment, I feel that we might as well be praying, since the government isn’t really in control.
Tinkering around the edges, doing the minimum to please those that expect action, but simply moving a threat level up or down won’t help if they lose control.

Out there in the shit, out there in the danger, out there touching countless surfaces that could be infected, out there working punishing hours for low wages are the people we too often overlook and take for granted — even though they are the ones who keep our world turning.

Away from their families, risking illness, America’s farm workers, truck drivers, grocery store workers, sanitation workers, and delivery people, are holding together the slender thread that keeps our supply chains moving, and those supply chains are the literal difference between civilization and anarchy.

  39. An Auckland-based subsidiary of American medical technology company Vital Software has developed an online platform to self-diagnose coronavirus, designed to reduce the pressure on hospitals and medical facilities.

Vital Software launched its “Covid-19 checker” at 2am (9am Eastern time) on Saturday and so far more than 200,000 people worldwide have used it to check if they have symptoms of coronavirus. The company has approached the Ministry of Health with its platform and is in talks with the Bangladeshi and Brazilian governments to create local versions.
