The $470,000 Tauranga City Council is spending on coffee machines and coffee, revealed by Stuff, pales like a milky oat latte, compared to the $128 million annual cost on staff, including salaries, perks and expenses.
The money spent on coffee enraged ratepayers facing a 12% increase in July, but it’s just one of many benefits provided to staff.
As of Monday, there are 1299 full-time staff members at Tauranga City Council and associated employee costs are $128m per annum, Tauranga’s mayor Mahé Drysdale told Stuff, though he added he’s looking to disestablish 100 roles.

The Laptops that are important both have win11 already, the other desktops can just be data storage or be used for specific applications that don’t require the internet. I have tried to upgrade 2 to Win 11 but the fail, and in some cases win 11 on unsupported laptops just becomes a nightmare. But a big FUCK YOU to microsoft in any case, but I can’t stand Apple either.
I had a Win 11 Laptop on a job 3 years ago 2022. Did not like it.
Last Sept 2024 I did the change from Win 10 to 11 on my least used laptop.
I clinked on upgrade now. Very little data on it as mainly for browsing- a 12 inch Dell , handy for travel as it is small.
Went well in under 1.5 hours without having to stand over it
Then after that was settled I did the other 2 laptops, a month later.

A Canterbury bakery says one of its customers was killed in a crash with a truck outside the store.
Sheffield World Famous Pies store said on Facebook on Tuesday morning it had closed for the day following the incident.
A statement from the bakery read that the pedestrian hit by a truck “lost their life while crossing the road near our shop”.
