    • Got another two weeks of this to get through. Can’t imagine the shit some must be enduring.
The longer this goes the worse it will be for the COLL.

      • Wait till the psychological effects of extended house arrest start breaking through – I’m sure all of are starting to notice it in our own neighbourhoods already. Another two weeks and we’ll see the local quaint “characters” losing it and running around outside barking naked at the moon.

I particularly worry about the long-term psychological effects upon the more extroverted members of society, those who need regular and close contact with a wide-range of people – those that would describe themselves as a “people-person” (and then smile inanely and tilt their head slightly to one side). Those poor bastards right now are climbing up the walls and gnawing at their elbows.

When it’s over they are also going to go into overdrive – wanting to have street parties every 20 minutes. Wanting to pop around to “catch-up” – no work will be done as they’ll be wanting to relate every single moment of their lockdown experience to their pod-mates or co-workers. You all know at least one person like that from your workplace!!

        • The world is shut for business.
          Reality isn’t.
It doesn’t even recognise social distancing.
          No mask required.
          Impervious.

        • You can pick your friends but not your family. We all have some family members who are just as you have described them. Even if they are only in-laws, the shit they create can be long lasting.

      • Yeah TBH we’re actually not minding lock-down, but have plenty of room and lots to get on with. I usually work from home anyway, so life isn’t too unusual in our bubble. And I’m not that social at the best of times.
But it must be horrible for those locked in small apartments etc, esp in bad relationships. Those separated from loved ones. Those spending lock-down worried about their livelihoods, businesses, staff and families.
It’s easy for the CoL to throw money around and lock things down. Bringing it all back to life is going to be a real test.

  1. Why do the media do it? Are they really insane?

Presuming some rationality on the part of the media organisations – the only conceivable answer as to why they continue to work so diligently to destroy their trust and credibility is that they simply don’t care about public trust and confidence in the 4th estate.

And even more disturbingly, given that their viability as commercial entities SHOULD be primarily dependent on public trust and confidence – one can only presume that legacy media outlets are being paid to act in a way that destroys public trust and confidence – potentially even to the degree that it’s more profitable for them to act dishonestly regardless of the impact on public trust and confidence.

Lunatic left news outlets get a pass on everything they lie about but conservative news outlets have to be scrupulous in the sourcing and accuracy of their reporting as they are scrutinised by the left leaning institutional establishment as well as the lying legacy media. Which in turn will result in the ONLY trusted news sources being the conservative ones!

The level of commercial irrationality is so staggering that the only possible scenario that fits is that it is more profitable to be completely dishonest and completely partisan – so who is paying for this and why isn’t it coming through in the publicly reported annual reports of the lying legacy media?

Which should lead us to the conclusion that only state-funded media should exist (lol what could possibly go wrong with that idea???) but we see the same active, unrepentant dishonesty in state-funded media too. And coming up with a rational scenario to explain that is beyond me, given that conservatives tend to be in power more than the lunatic left are.

All in all, I keep getting back to the concern that the lunatic left have perverted all the cornerstones of democracy through the plague vector of cultural marxism and we may be at the point where a new form of government is needed – the question is what does that look like?

    • The msm media see their role as creators of opinion, not reporters of it.

They also instruct the reader on what to think and feel about event’s.

      • The churnalists were in turn schooled in their opinions by our teaching “profession” in the marxist ethos of the NZ education think. Go forth children and spread the word to the masses.

    • DP – wrt your last par:
Paradoxically those very ideologues on the lunatic left who preach that capitalism is bad have reduced those formerly noble callings like journalism, education, medicine, law enforcement to mere jobs with a price ticket to be negotiated.
While I have no problem with workers in those essential services being well paid for their expertise, there are areas where those elusive qualities – dedication and duty – have been destroyed in the process. The result is a poorer work product from the professionals and a collapse in respect from the public.
Like everything the lunatic left does, it has made us as a society poorer for it.

    • Yes, a new form of government.

Not MMP, anything but MM bloody P!!

I have been mulling about a POSITIVE dictatorship for a number of years now.

      Would it be possible?

Has it been tried in the modern age?

Dictatorships always carry a negative connotation, with good cause too!

Stay with me here. Forget all the obvious negatives that we associate with a dictatorship.

What if you could really, truly, have a positive dictatorship? Is this possible?

I’m asking in all seriousness, for your opinion.

Look at the pros in the following list, DONT look at the cons, just the pros:

      https://connectusfund.org/list-of-7-main-pros-and-cons-of-dictatorships

      Imagine if it were possible.

Small government. Directing resources promptly. Low crime. Effective people appointed in the right depts.

Don’t go all Godwin on this, just discuss.

Could it be a possible future way of govt?

      I don’t know enough, that’s why I’m asking.

      • Cannot ignore the cons – take the lockdown, right now all the members of the Ardern fan club are saying how wonderful she is- it has all been I I I I not we . So completely up to her when any changes are made, as per oil and gas decision – as she becomes increasingly intoxicated by her presumed power her desire to give away controls will dictate all her thoughts.

        0

        • Phil.

SLG is definitely not an example of a positive dictator.

The cons are human flaws. A strong individual can overcome flaws.

Thanks for your comment all the same. I do want some discussion on this thinking.

          7

          0

        • Not only are Ardern’s decisions I, I, I but they are also influenced by unknown people not elected or not appointed by the elected.

She told the country her Covid-19 response was driven by conversations with her friends overseas and no one batted an eye. WTF?

Who are these people who influence the decisions of the Prime Minister? What are their qualifications?

A Prime Minister, or any other Minister of the Government ought to have advisors carefully chosen for their knowledge and judgement in their field.

Our Prime Minister has Jethro camped in her office with far too much say in proceedings IMO, and a network of questionable people who just happen to have her phone number.

The sooner we’re rid of this dodgy bitch the bedder.

        • It would not be a politician Pascal.

Could YOU be trusted to do your upmost at every turn, for the benefit of your fellow countrymen? To allow a free economy that wasn’t impeded by red tape? To ensure that corruption was stamped out in the corridors of power?

Could YOU, Pascal, make decisions that were populist and nationalistic, all the while not becoming drunk on the power?

Making sure ALL taxes were spent on the right things at the right time without wasting it all on vanity and virtue.

Not gifting your friends and family all the sweetest gigs, but appointing the best person fit for the role?

Not a politician, no. Maybe more someone like YOU!

          • Nope, I could not. You’d have to be a near perfect person. I cannot think of anybody alive who doesn’t have some level of self interest.

That is why we have a democracy – to spread that risk.

It’s just a thought, and a pipe dream.

But, just one thing. We have the illusion of democracy, especially here in 7% Ardernistan.

              It’s just an illusion.

      • I looked at the list of pros to your question and sorry I thought…….. but it doesn’t work, never has never will. It doesn’t say the people turn on one another very quickly. Then people hopefully rise up and say enough, and I hope beyond hope that its soon here, I am so over this I could either scream and scream or start drinking big time, which is always what people under dictatorship rule seem to do. Didn’t see that on the list.

      • Example
        Good effective ‘dictator’
        Lee Kuan Yew
Singapore – took it from a swampy mosquito-infested island an international business centre and transit airport; developed oil industry; etc
        Very controlled but good results.

        5

        0

        • Thanks Howie. So it is possible, and you could improve on what this guy has done. Be less controlling etc.

I guess that’s the crux of it. You want the dictator to be controlling of the controllers but not of the people?!

Yes, that’s probably a good way to describe what would be viewed as a positive dictatorship!

    • DP says:
      Are they really insane?

      No.
      Just Evil.

      The left don’t play fair.
That should be obvious by now.
      They never provide equal opportunity.
The objective is always dominance over another, even if it makes the subject’s life worse.
That is, in part, what makes them evil.

Lefty scum have captured all levels of the formal education system.
      Primary to tertiary. Even pre-school.
They have captured the media and Hollyweird is lefty, mind-bending, cross-dressing shit.
      It is no longer entertainment.
So called ‘education’ is not education but indoctrination – climate lies, gender bending, crap about poverty- with no solutions etc. It moves into thought control territory.
Media is lies and misdirection. They don’t need any CIA mind control drugs.
The majority of fools suck it up like it is fact. It is not. Anything but..

Now they have captured parliament and it is crisis after crisis to break the people down.
They started with fabricated fear in 2017 to make people feel awkward- homelessness, poverty, suicide, car deaths etc. > Fear; fear; fear.
Then never changed a thing AND reduced official reporting on such things.

Stage two continue the fear: – March 15 2019, White Is, The wu flu….
The ‘reporting’ on those is controlled crap that would serve a huge lesson to Pravda and Goebbels.
They have softened people up to accept defeat and hopelessness.
Most people in NZ will rabbit off:-
Two legs Obama good, Four legs Orange man bad.
because they have absorbed the crap.
It gets repeated on all channels in all mediums.

      Here is the real kicker.
The man standing between us and annihilation is Simon Bridges.
And we can’t even buy whiskey.
      We are fucked.

      • So true howtis. So true.

Candice Owen is going to run for office in the US. She says that the problem is that generations of Republicans have surrendered public education to the left and we’re now paying the price for it.

Which is why Charter Schools have to be the way – if Seymour gets another go. It has to be open slather. The concept has been proven – every school in the land has to have the option. There is a reason why it was taken out by stoopid Cindy on day 1. It is a true existential threat to Labour – remove their ability to brainwash and stupify children – they cease to exist in half a generation.

  2. Another country finding that China does not measure up over this CCP virus.

THE RESPIRATOR MASKS ordered from China by the National Emergency Supply Agency (HVK) to ensure the availability of protective equipment for social and health care staff combatting the coronavirus epidemic have proven sub-standard in terms of quality.

Tomi Lounema, the CEO of HVK, on Wednesday stated in a press conference that the respirator masks do not meet the standards for hospital use in Europe.
    https://www.helsinkitimes.fi/finland/finland-news/domestic/17527-masks-ordered-from-china-prove-unfit-for-hospital-use-finland-disappointed.html

So would we hear if there are any problems with the quality of the ‘PPE’ that comes to NZ?
Do we hear any affirmation of the wonderful gear & its quality that has just recently come from China?
    So what is happening?

    11

    0

    • A word in jest is often true.
It would seem that China really does dish up “suffering in your jocks”! 🙂
As a number of other countries have found!.

In a rather hilarious and an uncanny incident, China, the now ‘fair-weathered’ friend of Pakistan, had promised ‘top quality’ medical aid to Pakistan for fighting the deadly coronavirus infection has ended up sending N95 masks made out of underwear.
(At this moment, we cannot independently verify this video. This piece could well be part of a satirical Pak TV show.)

      https://www.ibtimes.co.in/pakistan-gets-chinese-underwear-n95-masks-816723

Just wait to see what the essential Easter Bunny has sent, “virtue signalled” to New Zealand.
Will our media check out the quality?
Are those gowns, masks etc. fit for purpose?
Will they be slipped sideways to look good, to other lower classes & standards?
Will our authorities and media report & show the great quality of the Chinese medical aid?

      8

      • Simpleton1, My opinion of the CCP was marginal until I read that the PPE gifted by Italy to China has been offered for sale to Italy by China. My opinion is now decided and its not good, Chinese people whatever their faults are by comparison to the CCP saints. I also note China has concentration camps for Uigurs, Russia had Gulags for “dissident” and the common factor – COMMUNISM which is an anagram of totally evil.

        • freethinker, this writer does bring much background about the Chinese,

Pearl S Buck, the first American woman to win the Nobel Prize for Literature., and wrote many books, was bought up in China, and as a child ran with the street urchins in China.

In her autobiography she mentions this, which seems to be timelessly ahead of the forerunner to the Peking Olympics melanin Fonterra milk catastrophe.
It just proves that nothing changes, and we have to realize that China’s culture is a very different way of working & thinking to our own.

          https://tinyurl.com/wr27cew
Then scroll up one page, to the sentence beginning
“Milk, however, fresh raw milk, seemed to be the most approved food. …. ……….
….. He was ashamed enough, though only for the moment, too, I fear, and then he said, “But I boiled the water, Little Sister- truly I boiled it, knowing that foreigners always drink boiled water.
Besides the milk is so rich I feared it would make your honoured mother ill.

Pearl S Buck, brings another concept of the thinking by the Chinese people also, in many different ways.
No culture including ours, is perfect, and they all have their different quirks to cope with life.

Communism is insidious wherever it tales root and seems to be into revising history as also another ideology, which pushes “jahiliyyah”

    • A good article wrapping up a number of things about the Chinese handling of their CCP virus, and still look to make a profit, masked with their public relation machine.

….. Professor John Bell, coordinator of coronavirus testing for Public Health England, said Monday that the antibody tests are not reliable when used on any patients who do not qualify as severely ill—i.e. most people being tested. ….
….. “We see many false negatives and we also see false positives…This is not a good result for test suppliers or for us.” The British government ordered 3.5 million of the antibody tests, largely from China, last month ……
………. Western press have been regurgitating Chinese propaganda for weeks, swallowing hole their bogus public relations stunts……

      https://townhall.com/tipsheet/guybenson/2020/04/08/surprise-china-sells-uk-huge-batch-of-defective-coronavirus-tests-n2566496?

So 3.5 million tests to the UK are dud.
So how does all this “test, test, test”, as called by the corrupt WHO in cahoots with China, work?
Sounds like very profitably, so what will Tedros cut be?

Whose pocket are the NZ authorities in?
Whose pocket are the NZ press in?

  3. The NZ Herald paper has become as slim as the Eastern Courier, due to the lack of real estate and other advertising.
    This is serious.
I am going to have to find additional sources of paper to line our cats’ toilet trays.

    19

    0

    • Well that had to happen not much to put into a paper other than Liebr support and how great thy PTPM is and even that must be getting slim surely

      12

      0

    • Actually, O-sen, I can relate entirely to that. I’ve been thinking about this too. We use cat litter in the tray itself but sit it on newspaper in case she misses (she’s an old cat bless her heart).

Newspaper is also really useful for lighting the fire and for wrapping rubbish now that plastic bags are banned. Also as a mask for spray painting and 101 other uses around the house.

The free real estate giveaways used to be a good backup, but now that the magazine industry has been destroyed, I think we’ve seen the last of these too.

      9

      0

      • I line the bottom of the tray with newspaper, then pour a bit of kitty litter over the top. I have to ration the kitty litter as that stuff is expensive. (If I can train the cats to accept my coffee grounds, then I will have largely solved the problem.)
Whoever is in the kitty litter business has struck nuggets! Demographics are in your favor, as the number of millennial spinsters can only increase from here on.

        8

  4. I have a very simple/maybe complex but genuine question for you all this morning….Would someone please tell me what all the governments will do if this happens again next year? or maybe again this year? If they did not expect this event (and they say they didn’t) how do/can they know that it won’t happen with monotonous regularity? Especially now the China wet markets are open again and bat soup is back on the menu, And how will they lock the countries down again? Sorry if I appear to be a doomsday singer at this time, but as so many governments are fucking the worlds economies now, what will they do when it happens again?

    14

    0

    • Not “if” it happens again next year “when.” It seems to me that since at least three strains of this bio weapon have now been identified none of them nearly as “deadly” as the media and government would have us believe it will become normalized in the same way as the seasonal regular flu. A vaccine of sorts will be found which will make Bill Gates and his cronies enormous amounts of money which they will spend on consolidating their take over of the world’s power structures. Repression and authoritarian rule will become the norm and the new major panic to keep the sheeple terrified will be the shortages of food and the ever cooling weather as we progress into Solar cycle 25 and the Grand Solar Minimum. Hardly a word will seep out about the mass starvation in Africa and elsewhere.

      12

      0

      • We are all locked down and quiet while the world’s left take the opportunity to implement their marxist agenda? It seems more like the Greens’ agenda? Are we being manipulated to change our way of life, move back to the country and take up simpler lifestyles where we can grow our own vegetables and keep a few sheep for sustenance? Many jobs wil disappear in the short term with industries shut down due to the demise of our economy. Masses of combustion engines off the road as commuters have no employment so no longer contribute carbon into the atmosphere? But hey, celebrate, Greta and Bill Gates will be smiling.
        Sitting ducks anyone?

          Thought for the hour :-

Was the measles in Samoa last year a controlled test on an island to see how people react to illness, hospital re prioritising, and vaccination?

          The Mini Me of COVID19

‘The latest figures from Samoa’s Health Ministry reported 3,278 total measles cases in the weekslong outbreak, with 198 new cases in the last 24 hours. The nation has a population of just 200,000, and the government says they’ve vaccinated more than 58,000 people during the crisis. Samoa has been under a state of emergency since November 15 2019.

    • It’s slowly dribbling out around the world that the mortality rate is really no worse than the seasonal ‘flu.

The globalist monsters that feed the left will do as they’ve always done – they’ll rely upon sheeple to forget. We forgot about the cold war (with a USSR that couldn’t deal with stoneage Afghani hill people or feed it’s own populace). We forgot about the world-ending ozone hole. We forgot about Y2K and how it would take us back to the Stone-age on 31 December 1999. We forgot about GM and how we’d all have tomato seeds and frogs legs if it wasn’t stopped immediately. We’re in the process of forgetting about Global Warming. And we’ll forget about the common cold economic collapse.

So long as the left can control the schools to brainwash and infantilise children – they’re going to keep on pulling this crap on us.

  5. Now I asked you all what you were doing early this morning (well 7.30 anyway)
    I have found the answer.

But while the WHO announcement caused a rush for essentials, this time customers had a boring month at home on their mind.

There were a lot of sales in beginner toys.

“I think it was ‘I’m going to be home for a while here’s something I’ve always wanted to try … now I’ve got the time’.

“Perhaps a combination of that and ‘I’m not going to be able to see my partner or pick up people or see my friend with benefits so I’m going to need plenty of toys to take the edge off’.”

Psychologist Dr Jessica Maxwell, from the University of Auckland, said the use of adult toys could be used as a way to find comfort in the face of the worldwide pandemic.

“One motivation for having sex or using sexual toys is to relieve stress so it makes total sense that you see people wanting to use these during this time.”

It was also possible some people were making the best of a bad situation by grasping the opportunity to try something new, she said.

“A lot of couples are doing new hobbies like baking bread. Anything novel, whether in the bedroom or not, is good for your mental health.”

However, she warned not everyone would be in the mood and that’s okay.

“I would just say though stress and anxiety can be absolute killers to sex drive so it’s totally normal if you’re not interested.”

Adult Toy Megastore has been named essential service by the Government due to its sale of condoms and medical items.

    https://www.stuff.co.nz/waikato-times/news/120934876/coronavirus-lockdown-causes-sex-toy-sales-to-triple-across-new-zealand?cid=facebook.post&fbclid=IwAR3RmM6JqBeGv2Z0RAm58NJYHm_JmfA7bPYijtY-bXnfL7Nes21Gj4-L4bE

    So toy sales go exponential
Wonder when the Mowbray’s will start making them?

  6. The level of delusion out there is confronting. Some of the most absurd claims are:

    1. The lockdown will save 80,000 lives in NZ.

    2. Property prices could contract 10%

    3. It could be next year before the economy grows again.

The Ardern cult is more detached from reality than most religious people are.

Jacinda Ardern announces that she is stepping down as Prime Minister and quitting politics for good.
She told stunned reporters this morning, “the the economy’s stuffed, unemployment’s at an all time high, people are lining up to buy food, the supermarket shelves are emptying, more people are receiving government money than ever before, and I thought, what the heck, I’ve achieved my goal.”

      • Alice, could you please post this reply to that commenter Isage000. Thanks.

New Zealand never did want her as our Prime Minister. Because of a fatal flaw in our democratic process, she was unilaterally appointed to the job by a man who got 7% of the vote in our general ‘election’.

At the time of appointing her, this man made the outrageous statement that capitalism has ‘failed’. He meant of course to say that democracy has failed. But his slip of the tongue has now proven to be chillingly prophetic.

“Vaccines, for Bill Gates, are a strategic philanthropy that feed his

Don’t exchange one enemy for another.

Kennedy is a duplicitous Charlies auNT

“In June 2019 , leading anti-vaccine activist Robert F. Kennedy Jr, the nephew of US President John F. Kennedy, visited Samoa.
In social media posts, Mr Kennedy Jr, who believes vaccines cause autism, questioned how many more babies in Samoa had received the vaccine on the same day as the two babies who later died.

He did not update the post when two nurses were charged with manslaughter over the improper administration of the vaccines.”
      https://www.sbs.com.au/news/new-normal-how-a-more-robust-globalised-anti-vax-movement-targeted-samoa

…The deaths of two infants on 6 July 2018 in Samoa shortly after receiving their MMR immunisations were under investigation by the Samoan Ministry of Health and Samoan Police.
On 4 June 2019, both nurses pleaded guilty to negligence causing manslaughter. On 2 August 2019, both nurses were sentenced to five years in prison.
During the sentencing hearing, it was confirmed that one of the nurses mixed the MMR vaccine powder with expired muscle relaxant anaesthetic instead of water for injection supplied in a vial with the vaccine…
      https://www.immune.org.nz/hot-topic/infant-deaths-samoa-tragic-outcome-error-preparing-mmr-vaccine

      It was a genuine error.
The cops and health investigators got onto it.
There was a trial and the nurses received an appropriate sentence.
You would not see swift action and probably no action for the same thing in NZ.
      Good on them.
      The timeline:-

      No praise for Kennedy.
He went a long way out of his way to get to Samoa in order to capitalise on a tragic accident.
He is a bastard of a bloke.

  10. Schools are being advised they could re-open to some students by April 29, provided the lockdown is lifted on April 20.

Education Minister Chris Hipkins said this morning he wanted to keep expectations reasonable and stressed that the decision would be based on public health advice.

After the lockdown lifted and New Zealand went back to level 3 it would take some time for schools to prepare for children to come back, he told TVNZ’s Q+A today.

Several schools have told TVNZ they had been advised they could re-open on April 29. Hipkins did not deny that date was correct but said some children might return to school before others – with priority given to the children of essential workers.

    • Hipkins is speaking with forked tongue. Unless he is a moron ( or both). You don’t spend millions of dollars to set up a huge scheme to courier laptops to thousands students who don’t have laptops for about two weeks of home schooling. Look I might be wrong but I don’t see large masses of school kids going back to school any time soon.

    • If it will take the schools 8 days from April 20th to be ready to open on April 29th, then how long will it take butchers, fruit&veg shops and other essential retailers to order in their stock and have it ready for sale to the eager public?

Seriously, how long will it take to restart the shuttered businesses?

The coronavirus crisis has exacerbated the need for Australia to ditch the Paris Agreement and “the anti-energy craziness” of the Left in order to flourish in a post-pandemic world, according to Sky News host Rowan Dean.

Mr Dean says while China is beginning to ramp up its manufacturing sector, Australia is busy “smothering its economy.”

He said the crisis is an opportunity for the government recalibrate the economy.

“Now is the time to pull out of the Paris Agreement, slash bureaucracy, free up our employment laws to encourage individuality not uniformity, encourage ambition, creativity and enterprise,” Mr Dean said.

  15. An interesting article on blindly accepting Chinese quality control.
The last half goes into the testing, and how it is best used, and just how effective and its limits may be.
That is if one can get past the Chinese stuff-ups with the tests.

…..China, many factories have pivoted into PPE manufacturing under government encouragement, even though they lack capacity and quality control.
    .
…….. zero understanding of quality,” said Renaud Anjoran, ……. “But these are high-risk items. If they don’t work, people might die.”
    .
It’s common for Chinese suppliers to export a product under one licensed company’s name but to source their products from second, third or fourth factories, like a chain of Russian nesting dolls, with little to no traceability down the chain of supply. ……
    .
There are many ways medical product exporters could get away with counterfeited or substandard goods even with the certification requirements, Anjoran said:
    Certificates can be faked.
Certificates can be real but altered to display another manufacturer’s name.
    .
Certificates can be valid, with goods made at the factory, but the manufacturer may not be checking the quality of its raw materials — especially the filter material in masks, the most important factor in protecting medical workers from the coronavirus.
Testing filter material can take up to two weeks and cost more than $2,000. ……
    .
Many of the newly established mask factories also operate in unhygienic conditions, with no process to keep the air clean, Anjoran said, based on his own auditing visits.
    .
“But this is not even on the radar of most buyers these days,” he said. “They’re like, ‘But did you see the masks were dirty? No? OK, who cares! It’s going to save lives. Don’t be picky.’”
    .
Testing kits also require careful buying.
The World Health Organization has listed only two COVID-19 diagnostic tests for emergency use, both nucleic acid tests that use a slower, swab-based method to detect viral RNA.
    .
The faulty rapid test kits foreign governments bought from Chinese companies have all been antibody tests, which use blood samples to look for antibodies developed only a week or so into a person’s infection with the coronavirus, or antigen tests, which detect virus proteins.
    .
But both kinds of testing are relatively new and not replacements for the nucleic acid tests — notably the antibody test, which is fast and can catch mild or asymptomatic cases in people who’ve already recovered from the coronavirus, but cannot determine whether a person currently has the coronavirus.
    .
That’s why antibody tests should not be used for diagnosis, said Dale Fisher, chair of the WHO’s Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network.
    .
“At the moment, we’ve just got the PCR as a gold standard,” he said, referring to the nucleic acid tests.
“Antibody tests are really for research, to help us understand the transmission dynamics.”
    .
Britain reportedly bought 3.5 million antibody tests from two Chinese companies, Guangzhou Wondfo Biotech Co. and Hangzhou AllTest Biotech Co.
Only one of those, Wondfo, was on the Chinese National Medical Products Administration’s list of authorized test kits.
    .
Chinese national guidelines also state that antibody tests should only be used as a supplement to nucleic acid tests, not for “screening in general population,” and that they should not be used as the sole basis to diagnose or exclude infections with SARS-CoV-2, as the new coronavirus is called.

The company that Spain bought faulty test kits from, Shenzhen Bioeasy Biotechnology Co., was also not on the list of nationally authorized suppliers.
The Spanish government reportedly acquired the test kits through a middleman who produced documentation showing that Shenzhen Bioeasy had CE certification.

    True or false? Anyone?

      • ……”“coronavirus” is the family of the virus”……

Yet the common cold is a coronavirus. How far does the test drill down?

        6

        0

        • I think you are correct nasska. I read somewhere the other day where doctor with expertise in area said there is no specific test for Covid19. It makes sense , if it is a new disease –they cannot come up with a test over night. So the issue raises a few questions.

          8

          0

        • “… common cold is a coronavirus…”
I will be surprised if they manage to produce an effective vaccine for this bug.

I have my suspicions that there are multiple strains of the coronavirus that causes Covid-19. The assymptomatic strain has a immunizing effect (so the CCP would want that for domestic application). The other strain(s) can be gift-packaged for Italy via the Chinese workers (unwittingly returning to the motherland for the New Year and where they can be loaded and primed for delivery on their return to Europe).

Naaaah. I’m being paranoid. Such a plan is far too elegant…

          • ……”I’m being paranoid. Such a plan is far too elegant”……

          • Looks like it was in Italy in October and New york about the same time so that that theory out the back door.
Reckon it was in NZ by January.
When I feel stupid enough iIll go ask for a test and I have a doc record that gives me a timeframe.
Not looking for drama currently so that will wait.

            5

            0

          • So why is Covid-19 so much more lethal than the common cold – another of the corona virus family? Speculation that this virus pandemic is caused by a virus escaping a Chinese bio-lab after genetic modification to make it more lethal or target specific is scary. Or the whole thing could just be a huge beat up, I’m keeping an open mind Kea!!!!! Seems like a huge cast of actors if we are being scammed.

President Trump will have his “virus hunters” researching the facts despite any obfuscation by the Chinese.

Adam was the first man, so we all believe,
God had him filleted, and introduced to Eve,
there was no one there to show them how, but they figured out the way,

    https://youtu.be/dEfDwc2G2_8
    Apr 10, 2020 : 5 mins 28 secs.

In his editorial New Rule, Bill argues that China should be held responsible for allowing the conditions that scientists have long warned could lead to a pandemic.

Even said “liberalism lost its way”.
    Does not like non-judgmentalism.
Finding a bit of commonsense, and maybe at his age is thinking about more things.

“Can’t we even have a pandemic without getting offended?” Maher said, taking the opportunity to make a crack about Connecticut locals not getting “ticked off” about Lyme disease. …
“This isn’t about vilifying a culture,” said Maher, 64, who grew up in River Vale. “This is about facts.”

Celebrants express shock, anger after couple’s lockdown wedding

the Herald has today been contacted by many concerned celebrants saying they had cancelled their weddings much to the upset of many people but wanted to stick to the lockdown rules. i.e. the Herald rang a few for a whinge.

Miranda Zander didn’t believe a wedding was essential.
Zander runs a private Facebook page for about 600 of the country’s celebrants to network.
“I’m getting a lot of messages from celebrants and people in the industry being outraged.
Yep fucking outraged they are. Stupid people.

Meanwhile Jeff Montgomery, the Registrar-General for Births, Deaths and Marriages, is standing by his decision to let the couple go ahead with their special day, sending an email to all celebrants today stating it is up to them and their clients if they decide to get married during the 4-week lockdown period.

Executive Branch Agencies Recommend the FCC Revoke and Terminate China Telecom’s Authorizations to Provide International Telecommunications Services in the United States

Today, interested Executive Branch agencies[1] unanimously recommended that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) revoke and terminate China Telecom (Americas) Corp.’s authorizations to provide international telecommunications services to and from the United States. China Telecom is the U.S. subsidiary of a People’s Republic of China (PRC) state-owned telecommunications company.

Is there any evidence that Yamamoto actually said that, or is it a Hollywood script writing line?

        • Toko, I am looking into it.
English language references on the Internet attribute the following quote to Isoroku Yamamoto: “I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve. In the first six to twelve months of a war with the United States and Great Britain I will run wild and win victory upon victory.”
However, to verify this, I will need to trace the original Japanese. It is possible that the English quote is a fabrication.
          Give me time.

I’m searchiing for: 山本五十六 (Isoroku Yamamoto)
名言集 (collections of his famous quotes)

          3

          0

          • A cursory search for
            山本五十六 (Isoroku Yamamoto)
名言 (famous quotes) and 巨人 (giant) picked up this blog entry from 2003.
            http://shojiki496.blogspot.com/2013/05/blog-post_4.html
Commenting on the “sleeping giant” quote, the author states:

            この台詞(せりふ)は、映画『トラ・トラ・トラ』や『パール・ハーバー』に出てくるのだが、日本では、こんなことを山本五十六は言っていないというのが一般的である。けれども、英文の資料を読むと、史実であるとしようとしているものが多い。

Note: 『トラ・トラ・トラ』や『パール・ハーバー』 These are references to the movies “Tora Tora Tora” and “Pearl Harbor”.
            BTW: トラ (tora) is “Tiger”

(You can run this through Google translate.) The writer’s conclusion is this “sleeping giant” comment is not something that Isoroku Yamamoto (Japanese Marshal Admiral of the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) and the commander-in-chief of the Combined Fleet during World War II) would have ever said. (There was a war going on, remember…)
However, it is something that the Americans would have loved him to have said.

    • It’s a good video, especially for those new to this information. For me it was more a brush up on my time down in the rabbit hole.

I doubt many on here would bother to watch. Cognitive dissonance and all that.

Most on here have a political bent I suppose. They’re here on that jaunt, but actually don’t realise that it is just scratching the surface as to what is really wrong in this world that we live in.

This is something that has been going on for hundreds of years. People just don’t want to know. In accepting and believing in the grand conspiracy, it involves understanding that you have been duped.

People don’t like admitting they’ve been duped.

      You are being lied to.

But not in a trivial red vs blue kind of way.

You are being lied to on the most grandest of all scales.

      It’s just an entree.

  29. The Easter Bunny & Tooth Fairy deemed as “essential services”, seem to be busy creating rabbit holes to bury things from the public.
Climate Change sneaked into Resource Management.
While everyone is ham strung by lock down! and the media will cover, & deflect.

Government is using Parliament’s select committee process to sneak climate change provisions into the Resource Management Act. ……
……. “The climate change considerations were not in the original bill, …….
… Environment Minister David Parker said he was working on ways to improve the speed and certainty of consenting. This bill will have the opposite effect.”…..

    https://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/PA2004/S00028/govt-sneaking-new-climate-changes-rules-into-rma.htm 5/04/2020

Proposals to expand the role of local councils into climate change mitigation under the Resource Management Act would add confusion, complexity and duplication, according to the Petroleum Exploration and Production Association of New Zealand (PEPANZ) and Straterra.
“These changes would open a can of worms that could delay all kinds of major projects and encourage litigation.
This is the last thing we need as rebuild our economy from the COVID-19 crisis,” says Straterra CEO Chris Baker.
    .
…….. “The committee has said the proposed changes will not come into force until 31 December 2021 to provide time for national direction on the policy. However, this just creates more uncertainty, killing off investment and jobs at the very time they are most needed. ……
    .
…… “Unless we know what the national direction will look like and its effectiveness, it is too soon to press ahead with these proposals. Both the legislative amendment and proposed guidance and national direction should be presented together. …….
    .
….. “It’s also very concerning these changes have been inserted so late in the select committee process with no opportunity for public consultation.
It makes a mockery of the Resource Management Review Panel’s process when they have been considering submissions on this very issue.”

    https://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/PO2004/S00092/new-rma-climate-change-proposals-increase-cost-and-uncertainty.htm

Who can trust these people in government, full of transparency. yeah right.
Would you be allowed to travel down to Wellington to protest, to walk into the “select committee room” ? to personally speak to your submission, or will they just mute your mic.. and switch off the system, whilst 2 barefacedly apologizing for a gliche in the system!

Not even an adhan about this, but wait until the pronouncements by fatwa, by the world acclaimed communication expert.

Level 4 Calls, Quarantine Calls, finally done this week, well the wrong way around and may have eased the Level 4 if quarantine called more early.

Seems like the Climate Change Emergency that was being talked up, is now riding on the coat tails of the Resource Management Amendments

All gone, Petrobras, Anadarko, Equinor/Statoil, Chevron and others, and OMV just signed out, being the last major oil company searching for new oil and gas in New Zealand waters,, whilst it still had the right to search for oil here after securing drill permits prior to the 2018 ban on new offshore oil exploration.
Undoubtedly hounded, by iwi, hapu, NGO’s, local councils, environmental groups, all supported by this ‘transparent’ government.

    • It depends on who is pushing for such greater uncertainty, progress, or change.

I would question the motives of whoever is pushing certain ideas. Why are they doing so? What is their end goal? Whose interests will the ideas serve?

When so-called progressives are encoraging uncertainty (what’s gender? how many are there?), progress (let’s get rid of urinals in men’s toilets) or change (let’s do it this new way, because…) then I would often regard them these ideas as crimes (or at least of no benefit to a healthy society).

My argument is not dependant on change for changes sake but rather for decisions to be made based on logic rather than readings of chicken entrails or personal delusions.

  33. This virus is like having caught a tiger by the tail.
Seems like we are still in the petri dish, either with the sniffles, or dying for breath.
A lot more research, to be done, and that all takes time.

….. Korean health officials reported Friday that 91 patients thought to have been cleared of the virus had tested positive again, up from 51 people on Monday. ……
………… patients testing positive again showed no symptoms, while others were suffering from fevers and respiratory issues, ……..
…….. “We say that a patient has fully recovered when he or she tests negative twice within 24 hours. But the fact that some of them tested positive again in a short period means that the virus remains longer than we thought,” ………..
“The number will only increase, 91 is just the beginning now,” ……..
……. Mr Kim also said patients had likely “relapsed” rather than been re-infected. ……

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/recovered-coronavirus-patients-test-positive-161747102.html

Sort of like a virus cycle, through the shingles, often in the grand parents, that can infect the grand children, and so it goes round, unless a bit of preventive treatment.
A bit too soon to know all the tricks of this CCP virus.
