‘It’s not a party’ – Auckland bar owner lashes out at criticism over controversial ‘100-person party’

    https://www.tvnz.co.nz/one-news/new-zealand/its-not-party-auckland-bar-owner-lashes-criticism-over-controversial-100-person

HeadQuarters Bar owner Leo Molloy says his business isn’t just a bar but a restaurant, allowed to open under the Alert Level 2 rules.

“We’re entitled to be opened… I’ve done nothing wrong,” he told 1 NEWS.

Outlined earlier this week, the rules allow for up to 100 people to gather in a single location, but individual groups must consist of no more than 10 people.

“There is no party. It’s dinner, it’s seated, it’s dinner, it’s a restaurant.”

Around 85 people have been invited to the 150-seat restaurant, including Destiny Church’s Brian and Hannah Tamaki and National deputy leader Paula Bennett.

In a fiery interview with 1 NEWS, Mr Molloy also lashed out at Ms Ardern for “changing the rules”.

Previous Level 2 guidance allowed for 100 people to gather indoors and 500 outdoors, without the new 10-person limits.

Mr Molloy said the rule forbidding multiple groups of 10 is “bulls***”.

“We’re allowed 100 inside the building, she’s changing the rules every five minutes. We did what we did.”

Mr Molloy is confident everything will go smoothly this weekend, saying he’s “abso-total-lutely” sure his event sticks to the rules.

Restaurants and bars that do break the Level 2 restrictions risk getting shut down, Ms Ardern says.

    • I hope they end up two thousand people queueing to get in. They deserve that level of support.
The Stasi will make his life very difficult, but I get the impression Molloy will see that through.

  2. Budget day. I don’t think I can watch all that syrupy sweet self-congratulation and lies from Robbo. There will be a long list of spend, spend, spend in all the wrong areas with Robbo oozing pride and puffery so I’ll just wait for the summary afterwards.

    • you say
‘Its all very strange and frightening’

      Fear is the key

The intention is to make you afraid and uncertain.
      This makes you more compliant.
ArDoom is employing the basic tactic of confusion to go with the plethora of lies.
      One and the same, really.

      She announces levels 1,2,3,4.
We get a poster in the letter box of what these are 7 weeks ago

Then she just makes it up as she goes along and decides that she will ‘#bekind and tell you when you can move to a bedda level, but may have to go backwards to a tighter level… at her whim

      It is all about Kontrol.
      Fear is the key.
The more afraid you are…. the easier to Kontrol.
She has studied the East German model (or her Kontrollers are using that same playbook)
There were a lot of the Na zis who did not escape to South America who moved to East Germany – ‘German Democratic Republic’
      Same ol’ same o’
Na zi or Commie – it is all just branding of totalitarianism.
Merkle’s father willingly moved from West to East Germany after the division of States.
      Think about that.

  4. When will the sheep that follow Jacinda Ardern wake up to the fact that healing praise and thanking the Prime Minister for listening is just giving her a olive branch to break more rules and hurt more people.
While I have sympathy for those that have lost loved ones she only changed the rules as it was inflicting damage on herself and the Labour Party from the constant barrage from the opposition about their cruelty.
COVID-19: Government thanked for listening as public outrage prompts Funeral rule change.
The policy change will impact Kiwis like Stacey whose family has faced unfathomable loss under the lockdown, both her husband’s parents died within days of each other then last weekend her Grandmother passed away also.
The family just want to say goodbye Stacey told Newshub it will mean such a lot.
    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2020/05/covid-19-government-thanked-for-listening-as-public-outrage-prompts-funeral-rule-change.html
My condolences go out to Stacey and her family but this is about a Government that makes rules to suit themselves when thanking them the keep doing the same they only care about themselves.

  5. Andrew Little says police facial recognition software trial ‘a matter of concern’
    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2020/05/andrew-little-says-police-facial-recognition-software-trial-a-matter-of-concern.html

“I don’t know how it came to be that a person thought that this was a good idea,” Little said.

“It clearly wasn’t endorsed, from the senior police hierarchy, and it clearly didn’t get the endorsement from the [Police] Minister nor indeed from the wider cabinet … that is a matter of concern.”

Clearview has sparked controversy for its opaque structure and its database of images ripped from social media sites – a violation of their terms of service. It claims to have been used to solve crimes from mailbox thefts to child sexual abuse, but has not been independently reviewed.

Little said he had received assurances from police that any further exploration of technology like Clearview would have “proper ministerial or cabinet approval”.

He said he did not know what the trial was used for.

Police did not respond to any of RNZ’s questions today on its relationship with Clearview.

    11

    • Is anyone surprised that the NZ Police would attempt this sort of thing? Their recent track record on “application” of the rule of law has been questionable in the extreme. Their refusal to answer questions when caught out is suspicious in the extreme and Minister Nash should for once be rattling a few cages at Police HQ.

      14

      0

      • Not surprised that Police HQ would venture out with such considerations as facial recognition. They have form in overstepping as was demonstrated with amendments to the Arms Act promoted vigorously post the Christchurch event in 2019. I doubt the present Minister has much clue or perhaps he is yet to demonstrate his capacity to handle a department. He failed to do so with the Arms Act amendments.

I may be wrong. Perhaps he did support the disarming and confiscation shambles yet overlooked the facial recognition trial as a matter we may be interested in.

    • Mr Little, being the ‘good’ gutter politician that he is will have been very aware about what was going on and is only commenting because he got ‘caught out’ and there is an election on the horizon.

Hard decisions will need to be made to grapple with the economic fallout of Covid-19, with one of those being a raise to the retirement age, says economist Cameron Bagrie.

you dont live in your own house,
You dont have an investment house,
you own a 25 year old car,
you never pay your bills on time,
you are always visiting social welfare offices,
your kids are being fed at school by the government,
you haven’t had a job for at least 10 years,
your rent is paid by the government,
      ETC,ETC,ETC,
In fact I will bet good money these people will be far better off after today’s budget …

I ventured into the local bookshop/NZ Post outlet today, having requested entrance from the clipboard warrior who recorded my details two letters at a time, muddling most of them and failing to recognise that Jack Ardern 04 8305000 might be a piss take, before giving me a specially sterilised pen to sign the form.
I executed a small purchase once I had gained the attention of a staff member who saw no advantage in interrupting his conversation with his colleague while I paid for my purchase.
I will continue to source reading material on line and the local store can get f’d.

Key and Clark unite to call for Auckland port move as post-COVID-19 project
    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2020/05/key-and-clark-unite-to-call-for-auckland-port-move-as-post-covid-19-project.html

The former Prime Ministers and leadership rivals both agree that it would be “awesome” to free up the waterfront – and the multi-billion project required to move it would be good for New Zealand’s economy as it looks to recover.

Clark said: “I’m one who favours the port being shifted. This is probably the most valuable land in New Zealand. Post-COVID-19, I’m very happy to be seeing proposals like shifting to Marsden Point seriously looked at.”

Key said: “I support moving the port. The world is changing because of COVID-19 and because of our changing demands. Why wouldn’t we use this? Out of adversity comes opportunity.”

To free up Auckland’s pretty coastal views by f#$&ing up someone else’s is just bats.

  9. Mentioned in the comments on Moraymint’s post is this which is also very interesting and applies very much to the UK and NZ too I suspect:

“Failure in risk assessment led to a global false alarm.
A high-ranking whistleblower in the German Federal Ministry of the Interior warns of wrong risk assessments and massive collateral damage. And crushingly, «the state has proven to be one of the largest fake news producers in the corona crisis.”

    • “Failure in risk assessment led to a global false alarm.”

When a novel pandemic shows up, the State will invariably select the computer model that gives the bleakest outcome. The State does this for two reasons: a. They don’t want to be held responsible for direct deaths (we’ll forget about the indirect deaths that invariably come later); and b. The opportunity to trial new ways of social control is too good to resist.

      8

  10. I read somewhere that domestic flights will only have half their seats filled, for “social distancing” but is this effective, given the air-conditioning air-circulating system that aircraft use? Wouldn’t wearing masks while sitting next to each other be more effective?
Or are the airlines forced to do so simply by the government’s “social distancing” rules (even though these may not actually work)?

    9

    0

    • The process begins with compressed air that is ducted off of the aircraft engine compressors. This extremely hot compressed air is now called “bleed air”. It is taken from 2 different sections of the compressor, both the low pressure and high pressure compressors.

Basically, aircraft use bleed air to circulate within the cabin, high pressure and low pressure engine bleed valves automatically modulate to maintain the required bleed air demand. So you are always getting fresh air via the system which has been warmed thru the engine warming system then filtered into cabin and out again.

      13

      0

    • It’s not about science though is it. It’s about fear.

And we have to have constant reminders in every way, every day that even though this whole panic has been basically caused by a disease that has mortality rates similar to what society has previously survived EVERY SINGLE YEAR with the normal flu season – that even though it’s not different. Really it is. That is why there is the narrative about “The NEW NORMAL”. Because, it just plain isn’t normal – it’s important if you are destroying freedom and you want to start exterminating vast tracts of humanity – but it isn’t normal.

If we are kept in a perpetual state of fear, then it WILL SEEM NORMAL, when frightening things happen like mass die off of humanity. The great cull, will seem that our overlords were right to keep us shackled in fear.

We voted for this. The Globalist NWO is using NZ as a test bed for their great population control plan. We’ve always been a test bed site for these sorts of things, although in the past we’ve benefitted from it (EFTPOS etc) – now we’re going to be a test tube to see how a small controlled population will tolerate rapid and excessive oppression (why else did the guns need to be removed, why else is censorship increasing so rampantly here, why is our lockdown heavier and more drawn out than just about anywhere else in the world given the fact that CCP virus is (statistically speaking) absent from our society?).

New Zealand society is being stress-tested for tolerance to oppression. And this is not a non-destructive testing regime. You only find the breaking point by ramping up the pressure until the test subject shatters. The new lockdown legislation is what the next level of oppression looks like. After the Gestapo phase we are about to enter now, we can expect economic collapse, followed by electoral irregularity (maybe postal voting – easier to commit fraud) after that who knows? Maybe public show trials for those that try to resist.

We are living in the ruins of the once great Western civilisation.

  11. Kiwiblog exploring paid content

I haven’t formed an opinion on this yet, but DPF is exploring introducing “Paid Content” the same way as WOBH and BFD went.

I mean at present, it’s his blog, his opinions, he’s just hanging what he thinks out there in space (and sure advertising isn’t much revenue although $16k/year passive income (ie he was going to be doing it anyway) isn’t anything to sniff at). But does all that change if you start charging for the the “Public Square” function? Do the people paying for the content get different rights? Do they get to not have their comments moderated? Do they get some share coming back to them (no blog is worth anything if there are no commenters and readers!).

    Interesting development though.

  12. The lockdown has achieved its goal of destroying the capitalist economy and freedom.

Now the budget will ensure it stays that way. Expect to see:

    1. Election bribes to alt left minority groups.

    2. Billions to alt left faux green fantasies.

    3. Punative measures against anyone rising above their station and making money – unless they are alt left Party supporters.

  13. What the lying left-wing apocalyptic doom merchant propagandists epidemiologist modellers said would happen in Sweden vs Reality

So it seems that the greatest fraud ever perpetrated on humanity (using utterly totally overblown dishonest modelling about CO2’s impacts on Earth’s temperature) was just a dry run for the real mind-fuck – the Great Coronavirus Communist Swindle.

If you want proof, have a look at this image – it shows what the standard range of epidemiological models predicted would happen if Sweden used the approach they did – that’s on the left side. On the right – the reality.

Epidemiology uses deeply flawed statistical methodology – just like climate change “Science” and also opinion polling (remember Trump had NO PATH TO VICTORY according to opinion pollsters). All three of those things have the same things in common:
    – they are demonstrably fraudulent and inaccurate to such a degree as to be lies
    – they always favour the lunatic left
    – they are used to reduce freedoms and oppress society
    – they add no value
    – they are ubiquitous

If epidemiologists had some skin in the game, I bet they’d start being a bit more accurate with their forecasts. I say, we need laws to be passed that increase the risk/reward profile for the profession. If models are demonstrated to be more than 5% inaccurate – then the epidemiologist should lose a hand, if it’s more than 10% inaccurate then they lose a hand and an eye. If the model is more than 20% inaccurate then summary execution should result. I bet we’d see a lot of the overblown and catastrophic predictions completely disappear with this one simple law. And it’s not nearly as draconian or oppressive as the lockdown laws that are being rushed through Parliament right now.

  14. So I’m currently reading a biography of Lee Harvey Oswald.
For those that may not know- Before the shooting Oswald was a Marxist who defected to the USSR for some time.
I had to laugh when I read his reason for escaping back to the USA in 1961-
” The work is drab, the money I get has nowhere to be spent. No nightclubs or bowling alleys, no places of recreation except the trade union dances. I have had enough.”

Remind you much of Jacinda’s Socialist Paradise?
The terrifying thing being that Oswald could actually escape the Iron Curtain and we (Jacinda’s subjects) are stuck here behind her wall indefinitely- Unless you happen to be a very, very good swimmer!

  15. America and its allies are getting ready to force the CCP to open up and allow investigation by the WHO and others into the origins of the novel coronavirus, to which the CCP has refused so far.
In the meantime, the CCP are retaliating against the Australian government for Australian’s questioning of CCP actions. The CCP won’t directly attack the US, but will instead beat up on their smaller allies. NZ (being the smallest) is shaking in its (ankle) boots? The CCP will be mindful that its action will put more pressure on NZ to choose a side. Which will it be? The Allies or the CCP Axis?

  16. Shamubeel Eaqub seems fiscally unaware. He has no concept of good economic management.

Coronavirus: Economist expects ‘oodles and oodles of spending’ in Budget 2020
    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2020/05/coronavirus-economist-expects-oodles-and-oodles-of-spending-in-budget-2020.html

Economist Shamubeel Eaqub is expecting a big spend-up in Thursday’s Budget to help stimulate the economy.

“I am expecting oodles and oodles of spending. We are in such a big economic hole, just like all over the world, that we are going to see Government pumping in huge amounts of money in lots of different areas to try and prevent the downturn, [but] also to really try and encourage the recovery, which is probably going to come towards the end of the year.”

No country will escape the downturn, however, Eaqub says, but our Government can try and cushion the blow – something it is able to do due to the rainy-day surplus it had up its sleeve.

“What the Government can do is blunt the downturn and then look after the people who lose jobs and all that kind of stuff, and also invest in the recovery that has to come afterwards,” he said.

Thank you, and a fair- enough comment. However, as a close observer of the American political scene, I stand by my point, especially as Obama is a ‘leftie’ and a fervent advocate of the New World Order. I notice BTW, that the ‘editor’ in the ‘rebuttal’ video cut the video at 2.26 BEFORE Obama delivered a rebuttal of the ‘Alternative vision’, he was describing , an act which I find somewhat unusual, since by NOT quickly-denying (as in ‘I don’rt believe in it myself’), Mr Obama implies tacit support for it, support which has become increasingly-evident as time passes. Thank you.

Nor did I ever like Obama.
It is like the Obamas birth certificate, that he danced around, knowing that it wasted the energy and eventually the credibility of those who tried to make an issue of it.
Obama was very adept at building a “straw man’s” debate, to waste time & energy of his opposition.

  22. – Crash the economy. [X]
    – Pay a UBI (means-tested, of course) to everyone with no assets or no savings
    – Scrap the National Superannuation (see UBI above)
    – Free education (student loan balances wiped)
    – Permanent Alert Level 2 (for health and safety) with police enjoying wipespread powers
    – High death duties to prevent families from accumulating inter-generational wealth and thus becoming less dependent on the State
    – High surcharges on funds sent out of the country (unless you are the NZ subsidiary of an Australian bank, but we’ll deal with these boys and their mates later)
    – Closer economic ties with China (like the way in October 2015, the Chinese-owned Landbridge Group won the bid for a lease of Port Darwin for 99 years)
    – Leasing of the port of Auckland to the CCP for a similar deal as Port Darwin)
    – Increased immigration from mainland China

      • The phone (the “Freedom Phone”) will be a new Huawei thin-card phone. In addition to a hard-wired tracking function, the State will also be able to activate the phone’s camera and microphone remotely at any time.
The phone will have a permanent memory that contains biometric data of the phone’s owner (fingerprints, retina patterns, etc.).
It will be compulsory to carry your Freedom Phone at all times when you leave your home. In conjunction with the phone, all citizens will be required to be chipped. The chip will be very small, but the Freedom Phone will be able to sense it and will know when its owner is at home or in close proximity. The Freedom phone will “know” when it is being carried by someone who is not its chipped-and-registered owner, and will broadcast this fact to the authorities.

  23. I’m not sure if I picked up the link to this video on here or not. It is about the link to the MMR vaccine and autism. It is a must watch. I’m not sure about how the MMR vaccines are given in NZ now –ie. are they given together or as 3 separate shots at different times, the latter seems to be the safe way.
I ‘m one who thought the anti-vaxers were nutters getting carried away with anti science, conspiracy theories but what I have read because of the Covid issue and viewing this video (I’m only half way through it ) I have changed my mind. I’m not saying I am against vaccines totally but I would be doing my research before getting any.

    • MMR is given as one shot. The links to autism were discredited years ago and the purveyor of the fraudulent paper which the antivaxxers live by, was struck off the British medical registry.

    • I had the MMR shot last year.
..and I am still sane – relatively speaking !!

      The Hepatitis (A +B) is 3 shots – At Now, +2 months, + 8 months

The Prick RF Kennedy Junior was in Samoa last year capitalizing on a tragic mistake.
      2 kids died.
The two nurses were convicted on manslaughter and jailed.
But still he was on a crusade.

He went all the way to Samoa to grandstand.
He is discredited in my eyes.

      I’m Glad I’m not a Kennedy.

CNN’s expert panel for a Thursday town hall on the novel coronavirus features two doctors, a former Health and Human Services secretary, and a teenage climate activist who has yet to graduate from high school.

CNN announced Wednesday that its Global Town Hall, “Coronavirus: Facts and Fears,” would feature Greta Thunberg, the 17-year-old Swede known for her global-warming protests, not her medical expertise.

  27. It was obvious the virus was coming across the border with increasing numbers as we waited for Cindy to lock down the NZ border. 25 cases caught but hundreds more suspected.

Covid-19 quarantine measures catch 25 cases at the border
    https://www.stuff.co.nz/travel/news/300012010/covid19-quarantine-measures-catch-25-cases-at-the-border

Since late February 567 travellers are known to have carried a virus into New Zealand.

From these known travellers, and perhaps others who were never tracked down, the Covid-19 stowaway they brought with them has gone on to infect another 930 people, killing 21.

The quarantine implemented in earnest on April 9 aims to catch and trap the virus hitching a ride on any returning New Zealanders. Since facilities were first established, 25 cases have been caught.

  28. I really hope good decent Kiwi’s have had enough of this cesspit of shit currently masquerading as a government. The wreckage and destruction they have caused is unprecedented. How can MMP allow window lickers who weren’t voted in to become part of an orchestrated collapse of the economy as well as giving the blue uniformed filth SS type powers?

I desperately hope that these sociopaths are not only voted out but that they lose their seats as well.
Maybe if I think kind thoughts and believe in rainbow coloured unicorns it will happen.
