So if social workers want parity with air traffic controllers (one of the most stressful jobs around), then no doubt air traffic controllers will want parity with doctors. Which of course means social workers will need parity with doctors by virtue of the fact that they need parity with air traffic controllers. But bin collectors will want parity with social workers, so they too need to be paid as much as doctors. So everybody needs to be paid as much as doctors. And there you have it – everyone’s happy.
But wait. . . .doctors will need to be paid as much as brain surgeons.

I had those exact discussions in my youth with socialists saying that broom pushers and brain surgeons should be paid the same. And always the proponent of those discussions were the broom pushers, not the brain surgeons. Essentially it is the lazy and unmotivated wanting wealth without having to earn it, i.e. theft. The core premise behind socialism is theft.
I know a few pilots, and the sacrifices they went through to be at the top of their game.
So when I get on a plane, especially international, I pray the pilot is on at least $300k+ so that his wife didn’t have to work, and focused on the home and children, and so that he had the money and time to get an engineering degree and/or a physics degree on the side, built his own microlight, or own and fly a Cessna, so that he is an expert in aerodynamics and how planes respond..
Because is something goes wrong, he is well equipped to understand how to deal with it, and land us safely. A pilot like that is worth $165 an hour equivalent. A lazy socialist broom pusher, or water-sider union goon, would be lucky to be worth $25 per hour.
“Pay equity” is just another term for theft i.e. socialism.
If a Pilot is worth $165 an hour but L(I)awyers charge $450 an hour who would you trust most with you life, so pay equity should work in reverse, a Pilot of a 737 is in charge of 200+ lives and a $100 Million piece of kit, a lawyer has about $10 k of office stuff and their frequent failures cost them nothing. A fairer way would be a base wage of $25 an hour and a % of sucessful results whihc would see many fewer lawyers and some of them drawing beneifts to make up thir living costs.

Man who heckled Winston Peters under investigation by employer for ‘disruption caused’The man who heckled Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters at a policy announcement on Tuesday morning is under investigation by his employer over the incident.

When did speaking ones mind and offering an opinion in your own free time allow an Employer to take disciplinary action especially when the Employer (Tonkin and Taylor) name, or the speakers association or relationship with his employer, is not bought into the matter.
If any disciplinary action is taken against this man, I think both Mr Tonkin and Mr Taylor, if they are still upright, or their subordinates may find themselves spending a bit of time before the. Employment Court where they will loose.

As an employee I am bound by a code of conduct. Any public statements must not reflect on my employer and as such I need to make sure I do not implicate my employer in any private matters. He failed there. If I recall correctly, you’re self employed IAASB? If so, your view point might be influenced by having no restrictions placed upon you by speaking out. So the question must be, was he incompetent, or was this a bullying action by the Health practitioners, and should that lot be shut down?

Hopefully, as a surgeon that fine wouldn’t hurt too much but the idea of deregistering and fining someone who is helping in the medical field is ridiculous. We have too many stupid judges and not enough medical staff in NZ.
Depends what he did, of course. Some eye treatments, like laser and so on, don’t necessarily need others except for office functions. Had a couple of cataracts done lately and that requires a team, but the adjustment that I needed didn’t, just the surgeon.

There is a photo of an older English man on the lead of this story. I was in a Tooting Suoermarket (South London) in 2005 one evening. There was a very dapper dressed old gentleman, suit, bow tie and carrying a small shopping basket, much older than the man in the photo, would think way into his 80’s.
