  1. Why have we employed Meng Foon as the race relations conciliator,we could have just put Hone Harewhira in that position the outcome is going to be the same in the end.
Foon is an out and out separatist and blatant racist.

  2. The gloves are off, Peters is frustrated at the polls for NZF while the “amazeballs” he put in power is taking all the glory.

NZ First reminding Labour who put them in power, with election around the corner
    https://www.tvnz.co.nz/one-news/new-zealand/nz-first-reminding-labour-put-them-in-power-election-around-corner?auto=6161570098001

The Winston Peters-led party has been throwing its weight around publicly, not only on commercial rent but also the push to move to Level 1.

“We need to get the lexicon right. They’re not running the country by themselves. They’re in a coalition with NZ First,” Mr Peters said.

“They’re only in the Government because NZ First chose them to be there.”

Mr Peters’ comments came as no surprise to a realistic Prime Minister.

“Hey, this is election year you’ve got to expect this,” Jacinda Ardern said.

You only have to look at the polls to explain Mr Peters’ motives.

“How do you explain what I’m doing here and my party’s doing here for 27 years if you pollsters are right? And I wish you’d just get a grip of reality,” Mr Peters said.

    • NZ First did not have the option of choosing anyone else since National told the drunken dwarf to stick his bottom lines where the sun doesn’t shine.
Winston’s perceived power is a media construct with no basis in truth.
Labour was appointed to the government benches by the Greens who didn’t have the imagination or economic nous to understand that a stand with National would have been in the best interests of the environment and the kiwi underclass they pretend to represent.

  4. Auckland businessman accused of smuggling 75,000 cigarettes into NZ
    https://www.tvnz.co.nz/one-news/new-zealand/auckland-businessman-accused-smuggling-75-000-cigarettes-into-nz

The 29-year-old Auckland businessman appeared in the Auckland District Court after NZ Customs officers arrested him yesterday following a tobacco smuggling investigation.

He faces multiple charges under the Customs & Excise Act and the Crimes Act, and more charges are likely.

The Chinese-branded cigarettes were hidden in a cargo-load of new household items and were uncovered by Customs in January this year, officials said.

The total evasion of Customs duty and GST amounted to $83,365, officials allege.

  5. Judith Collins calls for clarity around ‘mind-boggling’ Covid-19 border exemptions

The Government needs to come up with and release clear guidelines for border exemptions to help kickstart the economy again, National economic development spokesperson Judith Collins says.

But the sailing teams don’t yet know if they can come in early and get the ball rolling, Ms Collins says.

“[Mr Twyford] said he doesn’t even have the America’s Cup applications on his desk. It’s just mind-boggling difficult to get through this,” she says.

“We need to make sure that [people wanting to enter the country] have very clear guidelines that they can meet, rather than an ad-hoc basis.”

A search by 1 NEWS couldn’t find anywhere publicly available laying out the exemption requirements.

  6. Coronavirus: Wage subsidy kept 89 percent of businesses going during lockdown – Sepuloni
    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2020/06/coronavirus-wage-subsidy-kept-89-percent-of-businesses-going-during-lockdown-sepuloni.html

The Government’s $11 billion wage subsidy helped nine in 10 Kiwi businesses which received it survive the COVID-19 lockdown, says Minister for Social Development Carmel Sepuloni.

The Government has released details of a survey it sent out to more than 90,000 businesses which received the wage subsidy, to help keep staff on at a time when many of them were shut down or operating with limited capacity.

“I think it’s really important for people to have the right to peacefully protest, but this is the problem – we couldn’t have funerals, we couldn’t have all sorts of things going on, people couldn’t have weddings.”

FFS who does this creature think she is ,at the same time special K has given four million dollars to waitimo caves to keep them operating and they were given it a day before anybody else could even apply.
And worse the guy that runs that venture is the chairman of the group formed by special K to allocate said monies to business,FFFFUUUUCCKK.

    • “special K has given four million dollars to Waitimo caves to keep them operating”.

A Hamilton company owner has just phoned Peter Williams on Magic Radio to say she phoned Waitomo Caves to book 20 of her employees into a team building weekend this Saturday blackwater rafting and other challenges. She asked what they could offer her group and after a lot of excuses about only taking 12 people, etc, etc and the company owner chasing WC several times in an attempt to book in the end was told WC couldn’t take the booking!

Easier to take the $4m from the taxpayer? Oh, and WC is part owned by the Chinese.

      • Visited Waitomo Caves last year.
Saw Asian tourists treated like shit. The classic ‘if they don’t understand English shout at them a bit louder’, and the overpriced cafe turned away asians demanding they buy cabinet food only, then cooked us up food to order.
As a kiwi, it was cringeworthy.
It’s a quintessential kiwi experience, so I hope they don’t fall over, but I can’t say I’m upset to see them take a hit.

  10. This is a quote from Scott Morrison from just part of an Q&A reported on Breitbart.

“Australia believes in what Ronald Reagan called the ‘truths and traditions’ that define the United States,” Morrison said. “We stand together in these self-evident truths. We stand together for personal liberty and freedom. For democracy and the ballot box. For the rule of law, and freedom of association. For free economies and free peoples.”

    https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2020/06/04/aussie-pm-scott-morrison-backs-straight-up-donald-trump-a-man-of-faith/

Forgetting which side of politics you are on for a moment. Can you think of anyone in our Government who would think and speak about NZ like this –ie. getting down to the fundamentals of principles and beliefs ? I would go a step further and say there are only 2 or 3 three MPS in our Parliament who would think like this.

My post is not in support of Scott Morrison but more to do with the fact that NZ MPs have lost the plot on what it is all about.

    • When was the last time a National Party politician publicly proclaimed the ‘truths and traditions’ that define New Zealand?
Come to think of it, does New Zealand even define itself by truths and traditions, or is this a foreign “American” thing to do?

(The last time I looked, “tradition” has a bad name in this woke Kiwi society, and truth is a malleable and flexible construct that can be bent in the way that is desired at the time.)

      https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/2020/06/04/researchers-retract-study-that-found-big-risks-using-hydroxychloroquine-treat-covid-19/

“The Study purportedly based on the health records of almost 100,000 patients around the world, found that hospitalized covid-19 patients treated with the antimalarial drug hydroxychloroquine — a drug repeatedly touted by President Trump — had a sharply higher risk of death and heart problems compared to those who did not receive the drug. It also showed the drug didn’t provide a benefit. The study was “observational,” which is less rigorous than a randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial.

Almost immediately after the study’s publication, critics raised questions about the data and analysis provided by a private company, Chicago-based Surgisphere, and its founder, Sepan Desai. Another study that also relied on the database — one that looked at the effects of blood-pressure medications on covid-19 patients — also was retracted Thursday, by the New England Journal of Medicine.
Desai, who was listed as one of four authors on the study, was not immediately available to comment.”

    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2020/06/covid-19-wage-subsidy-tweaked-to-allow-more-businesses-access-to-the-extended-scheme.html

The changes to the wage subsidy scheme criteria means it is now forecast to provide between $2.6 billion and $3.9 billion of support to businesses, up from a top estimate of $3.2 billion under the old threshold.
It will be funded through the Government’s mammoth $50 billion COVID-19 Response and Recovery Fund unveiled in Budget 2020.

The wage subsidy scheme has so far paid out $10.997 billion, covering 1.66 million jobs.

How do they expect Air NZ to keep their workers busy if the business is down to about 20% of their previous activity ?

Police Association angered by Green Party’s letter rallying against armed cops in wake of George Floyd’s death

The Green Party has angered the Police Association by sending a letter to the Police Commissioner urging him not to arm officers, in the wake of a US cop facing a murder charge over the death of George Floyd.

The letter, penned by Greens co-leader Marama Davidson and justice spokesperson Golriz Ghahraman, warned the Police Commissioner against implementing the recent trial of Armed Response Teams across New Zealand.

“We only have to look to the United States to see how violent things can get under a militarised police force,” Davidson said. “This is especially so for minorities and communities of colour.”

Farmers’ photos highlight lack of rural cell phone coverage
    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/rural/2020/06/farmers-photos-highlight-lack-of-cell-phone-coverage-in-regions.html

Farmers have been fighting for improved connectivity for years, but as highlighted by a number of photos shared online this week it seems there is still a way to go.

The images, shared on Federated Farmers’ Facebook page, show the lengths that some farmers have to go to for a decent cell phone signal.

    • They have my sympathy. On our property there was one area of about 20 acres on the furthest ridge which attracted a couple of bars of 3G signal. Broadband near came & passed us by. The Chorus copper offering was slow while satellite was slow & expensive.

If you looked at a relief map of the central Wairarapa it wasn’t hard to figure out why but it didn’t make doing business exactly easy.

,National had a program to improve rural broadband and eliminate cell phone black spots.
Some gains were achieved in the face of Telcos ,Councils and others only doing what suited them.
