A paradox for our time: The far Left is disproportionately white, wealthy, and well-educated. So extreme “wokeness” is now one of the most glaring symptoms of “white privilege.”

    • And another one:

A former senior Facebook executive has called on governments and technology platforms to scrutinise the impact of social media on elections and opinions can be swayed after a surprise Coalition win in the weekend’s federal election.

“Whatever happened during the election I would say overall we are entering this era where opinion forming is happening differently,” he said.

“It would allow us to understand what’s good and bad about how opinion-forming has changed and then come up with policies or points of view that can then be debated in public.”

Because the ‘wrong’ party won in Australia, the ability for the ‘wrong’ party to win must be eliminated. Electoral advertising et al must be controlled by Leftists.

      • You can buy a truckload more posts and video’s on FB than you can buy billboard space that no one reads.
ACTS biggest failing is the even though it has had plenty of money it wasted it by not using the social media.

Act need a couple of hotties and some smart marketing. Have said this plenty of times in the past. Too many toffs wasting space on the board.

        • “Act need a couple of hotties”. Labour did that and look at the cluster we ended up with. I’d rather have someone standing with practical experience and political nous than looks.

    • And the ignorance of the Left has no bounds:

In the wake of Scott Morrison’s surprise re-election, an Australian TV host has penned an open letter urging him to seek advice from Jacinda Ardern.

Lisa Wilkinson, host of The Project Australia, called on Morrison to show “real leadership” and to provide a “genuinely clear direction” as the re-elected Prime Minister.

“If you’re ever in doubt when those big decision-making moments arise, when all the nation turns its lonely eyes to you, if despite all your best efforts you find that wisdom is failing you, can you do us a favour? Just call Jacinda.”

Why would anyone want to contact Ardern for advice on anything? She has life skills. She avoids making “big decisions” and takes the easy way out if she can and dithers on things she cannot.

Giving hugs to Muslims after a bunch of them have been shot is not a big decision. It’s an easy one. Sacking incompetent ministers is far more difficult and she has utterly dithered on those, and dismissing the incompetent shouldn’t be that difficult either.

  2. While reading Newshub, I noticed that they have started underling ‘key’ words. Is this a new tactic? I know that Amanda on AM emphasises words that are meaningful to her.

Should we stay or should we go, if we are asked to stay? My stance is that ISIS has only just lost the caliphate, so gains need to be solidified.

  3. I heard Simon Bridges on NewstalkZB talking about Alfred Ngaro. It looks like a Christian party or him joining the New Conservatives is a real possibility. The latter makes far more sensed

  4. Government to target the ACT party as part of the “Christchurch call”.

    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2019/05/christchurch-call-government-s-war-on-extremism-online.html

According to Tova O’Brien, “The group they’re fighting includes white supremacists, the extreme right and far right activists [emph. Ed] who use coded language to draw in and radicalise new followers.”

You might think I’m being hyperbolic but ACT is often considered “far right”.

From Te Ara, the Encyclopedia of New Zealand:

ACT, a far-right party [Emph. Ed]

    Pension Protest:

The ACT Party which covers the far-right [Emph. Ed] spectrum in New Zealand politics…

Whomever Brian Easton (from Pundit) is:

New Zealand has a far right [Emph. Ed] party, ACT…

And so on and so forth.

I bring this up because who defines these terms?

I also note the lack of targeting of Islamists and Socialists with the former being the no.1 source of terrorism ideology and the latter being the no.2 source of terrorism ideology. Perhaps they’re implied but I doubt it with the CoL in charge.

I wonder whether they’ll be monitoring Patrick Gower given his recent rants about how common white supremacists are in NZ households, which must infer he has a problem in his own household…

No wonder David Seymour called Golriz Ghahraman a menace to freedom.

    • The right-wing have absolutely nothing on the head-count of the left. Consider estimates for Mao is between 30,000,000 and 42,000,000 for his policy mistakes and for Stalin is around the 10,000,000 mark. That’s not even counting the smaller contributions of various tin-pot socialists and the likes of Venuezela.

Here, in New Zealand, Ardern and her accomplices are seeking government control of the media (Think of Curran and her failed meetings with Hirschfeld), are actively pursuing people who hold opinions different to them by using a politicised police force, have rammed through undemocratic, non-consulted legislation and have implemented policies that will not only worsen our global environment, but will have a real impact on our ability to feed our nation and keep our people healthy. They’re performing far worse than the previous, National government.

Yet, they plan to come after those who stand for liberty, freedom of speech and small government. That’s the real evil according to them. Bloody ridiculous, that’s what Ardern and her media companions are. A true force for evil.

  5. i think the article that I posted before is very relevant, where Bob Hawke might have been Labour, but Labour isn’t Labour anymore and as the political parameters shift, what the media choose to term far right, wouldn’t have been considered so before. It is just a manipulation. The more that people acknowledge that the better. Could anyone imagine that Simon would have been coupled with Shorten if they had won lol. Even Labor losing in Australia is used to beat Simon with.

        • It is likely USSR communists had infiltrated the USA, as equally the USA government sanctioned spooks were active in the USSR, however, the point of the article was the search for “reds under the bed” or the out of control witch hunt of normal citizens accused of being communist sympathisers and having their lives ruined by overly zealous communist hunters, Jo McCarthy and the FBI.

      • But spent 12 hours in China- the country that helped us trade through the GFC esp 2008 to 2012.
Without China we would have been closer to Ireland or Spain in performance.
The interesting element here is that it was Ze Eden Park Fuhrer’s Labour Govt that secured the FTA.
What have the Romans ever done for us….or What has France ever done for us?
The Romans have been less harmful to NZ than the French ever have.

        Where is the EU-NZ FTA?
Does the SLG even know what an FTA is, given her inability to understand economic TLAs > example being GDP?

    • Malcolm TurnBull was truly a Labor (ALP) fella at heart. Even he said so.
This is why he stiffed the Libs in the Wentworth by-election last year to smooth the path for controversial lesbian feminist Kerryn Phelps.

Who does 5% Bridges really work for?
If you are too afraid to ask this fair question then you should not profess to comment on politics.
He agrees with almost everything that Labour do.
      USA has the RINOs.
In NZ we have the NINOs; lots of them.

  6. One of the highlights of a Monday was awaiting the RNZ weekly politics podcast to drop into my feed. I loved the way that Hooten took it to whatever left-wing lickspittle Labour put up for the weekly slaughter. I must admit that I took particular pleasure from the way he got under Stephen Mills skin.
Now that Hooten is not on the show I cannot bring myself to listen to it. Those that are put up as being ‘from the right’ come from the Soimon Bridges or Nikki Kaye side of the party. They are apologists for National and refuse to go after horse face at all. I want Hooten back.

  7. “Mr Bridges also signalled a move to allow New Zealand to act independently of the United Nations through a law change giving this country the ability to “autonomously” impose sanctions on countries where it believes it’s warranted, and “outside of the ‘held hostage’ United Nations sanctions regime”.

Recent examples of where New Zealand should “uphold its values” in the face of aggression were Russia’s conduct in Ukraine and its use of nerve agents in the UK, terror attacks in India and Sri Lanka, and the ‘abhorrent disregard for democracy and human rights in Venezuela.”

    YES!

  8. Existence is like a book with a million pages written in an ancient language.

Science attempts to decipher this book page by page. Religion just looks at the cover & tries to guess the ending

  9. Re: allegations surrounding the Crusaders in Cape Town.
I’m not going anywhere near the “he said/she said” squabble, but I do want to know why professional athletes would subject their bodies to the stuff McDonald’s hawk.
It isn’t fast and it isn’t food.
There should be an enquiry right there.

  10. Sounds like there is now going to be a witch hunt on homophobes, they will be seeking and finding them everywhere, they will likely be white supremacists too, so it will be a two for one deal?

    • I reckon you’ve been on the planet for about as long as me Rachael so you may have a valid opinion on my pet hobbyhorse; that being that society’s behaviours don’t move incrementally…..rather they swing as a pendulum & often quickly.

Instance homosexuality & homophobia. Fifty years ago gays were the subjects of entrapment by police. Thirty years ago homosexual acts became legal. With reasonable luck I will expire before they become compulsory. Point being that sooner or later the apogee will be reached & common sense will eventually prevail.

Point two of my theory is that the more native human behaviour is suppressed the more violent will be the response, a view lost on social conservatives whose natural reaction is to screw down the relief valve on the pressure cooker even harder.

      • I think the pendulum over corrects and then comes back to a medium. Sexual revolution for one, all that free love was a mistake in my opinion. As for relief valves, I think it is mine that is being screwed down, so you could be right.

Although I grew up in what I would describe as a conservative household, I was a bit of a rebel, and did it my way. I look back at that time with few regrets. I wasn’t a rebel for very long, having a child at 17 fixed that for me lol. My conservative upbringing however has happily reasserted itself.

I just don’t get why I have to care about some else’s sexuality, unless I actually wanted to have sex with them, who cares, certainly not me.

  11. So here is something future leading from a NZ company.

touch technology that blows the mind.

    https://www.resene.co.nz/comn/whtsnew/SmartTouch-conductive-coating.htm?fbclid=IwAR3G2b1ig1b09Sn3RUzuo0tf1I0YABJ5jxc7XOYE9fnCK_xqspKEqtMmHoA

    witch on with Resene SmartTouch

Traditionally all we expected paint to do was look good and protect the surface.

    Project Description

Now it can do so much more, from reflecting U.V. light (Resene CoolColour), to providing a magnetic (Resene Magnetic Magic) or whiteboard surface (Resene Write-on Wall Paint) and absorbing unwanted toxins (Resene products, such as Resene SpaceCote Low Sheen, formulated with formaldehyde abatement technology).

    • Helen started that and collapsed all the workshops that many had spent hours and thousands of dollars getting these people into society. Just like she tossed the mentally ill out on the streets. From the caring Left. That’s where all the street dwellers came from.
      Nasty bits of shit.
