ACTs current natural position seems to be about 8%
i.e. 1 in 12 voters. The various polls in the last 6 months tend to support this, with minor speed bumps and figurative road cones along the way.
ACT has not beaten the Gweens in party vote in more than 20 years now.
This seems locked in.
Of concern is that it has a current natural support base of about 12% so one in 8 people.
If you are in a bus with 40 people it is like 5 of them are Gween voters and 3 ACT voters.
No, Wait, make that 18 Gween voters and No ACT voters in a public bus!!
Notional seems to have a natural support base of about 37% now.
This means it will need support partners to form a government.
A decent chunk of support partners.
Its current treatment of partners -watering down pretty much ALL pre election promises – is a bad move; but nude nut is too naïve to understand this.

Morning all, you have no doubt heard of the land of the midnight sun. Along those lines I think Northland could well be known as ” the land of perpetual rain “.
I would have to say that if you asked me 5 or 6 years ago about contrails, aerial spraying and weather intervention on the basis of deliberate manipulation of weather I would have scoffed.
Now I am not so sure.
A huge amount of regular weather patterns have gone in the last 4 years.
Auckland used to get a nice spell of weather from mid August to 10 Sept. 3 weeks of nice weather. Then spring would arrive and it was usually windy and horrible for 10 to 14 weeks.
It used to be that a sea breeze would kick in about 1pm Daylight saving time. Through to just after 6pm.
This year the breeze has arrived regularly at 4pm. Not earlier.
This is illogical. It should occur when the land temperature rises above the sea temp (usually about 21 Deg C in Mid January. )
The rainfall here in NZ has been frequent and East Coast Australia has had it for more than 3 years. This is odd as weather is mostly from the west and there is plenty of arid desert in AU for the air to dry out.
All the media ‘predictions’ from ex spurts of la nina/el nino just get washed away.
The regular rain in the top half of the North Island has been almost constant in the last 2 years with the concentration in the northern-most area; seems to be a new thing.
It is more than the prior ‘afternoon showers’ that Whangarei used to experience.
Northland often went from drought to flood in the same year.
2 years ago (Jan/Feb/Mar ) Hamilton sat on 30 degree days steady for over 2 months. I don’t recall this before. It was always hotter than Auckland in that period.
The weather in the first half of March was like the normal second half of April. Cool.
And the first week of June (in Akl) has been better than any time in May where in the first half the temps were often down to 2 or 3 degrees in early morn. Very cold.
But in June so far has never been below 8 Deg C .
Freaky.

I don’t think anyone fully understands the effect of the Tonga eruption. It did two things, chuck a shitload of moisture into the upper atmosphere along with tons of dust that seeds clouds. It will be a while before anyone can say with certainty what is going on. However, it is probably not “climate Change” ….

I have been painting this week and watching the rain radar. We get a lot of our weather from the north but this week the rain seems to have been hovering over northland and then moving out to sea. Quite strange.
