  1. So long as it wasn’t a bit of heat-treated crappy central plateau pine it would be fine.

So long as Fetchers and Carters had nothing to do with it it would be OK.

Remeber your rates will be paying for their shit for the next 40 years.

  2. Well, today could be Cindy’s last day as PM.
I hope so, BUT, somehow I think the bought
and paid for media scum have done their
job with saturation coverage of the awful creature.
    Have a wonderful day folks.

  3. Jacinda Ardern says she will resign from leadership if Labour loses

yep heard that and if the r is a lord above she will be gone by lunchtime on Sunday.

hell I’m supporting the God botherers. Help Naaska.
Labour leader Jacinda Ardern says she will not see out another full term in politics if Labour loses the 2020 election.

Near the end of the debate, Ardern was asked if she would remain the Labour leader if the party lost the election.
    No,” Ardern said.

Speaking to reporters after the event, Ardern said she would step away from politics entirely if Labour lost the election.

“My message would that be if people don’t want to see me resign, then vote for Labour.”

hell vore for anyone but Labour.
What she is saying is she wants out but ain’t got the gutsd to go.

  4. I am off to Wellington today to attend the Royal Numismatic Society Conference held over this weekend.

“Numismatics” is the study of coins, banknotes and medals. It is called ‘the hobby of kings’, after all they are collecting images of themselves, their families and their enemies!

Stamp collecting is the hobby of the king’s servants 🙂

Blogging from me will be non-existant but I will be lurking here regularly for updates 🙂 Ditto the swamp otherwise known as Kiwiblog.

  5. Hundreds of people booked to fly from NZ to Australia today for first time in months
    https://www.tvnz.co.nz/one-news/new-zealand/hundreds-people-booked-fly-nz-australia-today-first-time-in-months?auto=6201244139001

People are expected to journey to Sydney on the first day, on flights operated by Air New Zealand, Qantas and Jetstar.

But Kiwis travelling to Australia will have to quarantine once they return here – and pay for it.

    9

    • But as they are required to quarantine for two weeks on return, it’s still a restriction on freedom of movement

If I’d said 12 months ago Covid Cindy was going to make NZers pay thousands of dollars to be imprisoned for a fortnight after a two week holiday in NSW – I’d have been accused of being a conspiracy theorist.

      Yet here we are!

All for a disease that in statistical terms no one dies of! It’s going to be fractionally worse than the 2018/19 ‘flu season and not nearly as bad in terms of excess mortality as several other bad flu seasons since the turn of the century.

The great thing though is that our herd immunity to many other novel coronavirus strains is being destroyed by isolation. It’s a genius plan if you have no sense of right or wrong.

  6. Sounds like a perfect work training scheme for unemployed kiwis. Maori owned fishery employing “their people”.

More than 400 foreign deep-sea fishermen head to New Zealand due to labour shortage
    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/rural/2020/10/more-than-400-foreign-deep-sea-fishermen-head-to-new-zealand-due-to-labour-shortage.html

A charter flight from Russia will arrive in Christchurch on Friday, where the first 200 crew will begin managed isolation.

But those in the industry and Immigration Minister Kris Faafoi say the group destined for New Zealand over the next few weeks are essential.

“Sealord operates two of our nine deep sea trawlers and has done so for about 25 years with fishermen who come in from Russia and the Ukraine. We use 84 on each vessel and some of them would’ve been with us for the whole period, for the 25 years,” he said.

They were specialist roles which took years of experience and training.

“Every time we bring them in we are required to test the market and try to get New Zealanders to work on those vessels. Unfortunately, there just isn’t enough trained fishermen in terms of the required roles we need, and on our other seven boats -which are predominantly crewed by Kiwis – at any point I’ve got about 30 roles which are vacant pretty much all the time.”

  8. Question of the day , is Tova Obrien actually a skinny 14 year old boy?
She certainly looked like it this morning on the “promote Ardern” Garner show.
And then Garner absolutely shat on National by coming up with some leadership battle conspiracy going on in that party one day before people vote.
Garner is an Ardern fan boy the fat C – -T.

    • The post spilling a bit about the Chinese Biden corruption.

wg. how far away are the indictments on Joe Biden? 🙂
How can he keep running for Presidency?
Eventually how connected up is Obama?
Will there be an over flow to the Clintons, as likely they would also have been clipping some ticket.

The documents obtained by The Post also include an “Attorney Engagement Letter” executed in September 2017 in which one of Ye’s top lieutenants, former Hong Kong government official Chi Ping Patrick Ho, agreed to pay Biden a $1 million retainer for “Counsel to matters related to US law and advice pertaining to the hiring and legal analysis of any US Law Firm or Lawyer.”
      .
In December 2018, a Manhattan federal jury convicted Ho in two schemes to pay $3 million in bribes to high-ranking government officials in Africa for oil rights in Chad and lucrative business deals in Uganda.
Ho served a three-year prison sentence and was deported to Hong Kong in June.

    • Liebour is Pro Crime

People must remember that when casting a vote for these slime.

For decades Law and Order has been in the top five election motivators.
      It has been removed.
ACT have highlighted the pro crime stance.

Notional- in their very jumbled campaign – have not really.

It is sad that people would vote Liebour instead of Notional in order to keep the Greens out.
It underscores there is so little to distinguish ‘the big two’
Notional has been like a coalition partner for Liebour – supporting all its nonsense esp in 2019.

  11. Greg Sheriden tells it how it is.

“No international halo is so shabby, or so fraudulent, as that worn by New Zealand Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern. Politically she resembles Dan Andrews. They excel in woke gesture and progressive symbolism. Their achievements in real policy terms are thin or negative.
This is a judgment against the dominant narrative concerning Ardern, so let’s first acknowledge her strengths. Our Kiwi cousins go to the polls on Saturday and Ardern will likely win a second term, perhaps in coalition with the Green Party. The chief restraint of her first term, the mercurial Winston Peters’s New Zealand First Party, probably won’t make it back to parliament. Ardern has done three positive things. She has just about eradicated COVID-19. She has navigated the politics of the virus so well she stands on the brink of electoral triumph. And she responded with moral clarity and decency to the Christchurch massacre. However, she has still been a poor Prime Minister, elected almost by accident under the Byzantine protocols of her country’s eccentric electoral system, though she won far fewer votes than the National government she replaced.

The more total your shutdown, the more you can eradicate COVID-19. It’s then a matter of keeping your borders shut. This, incidentally, is medieval plague policy — keep everyone out and keep everyone isolated until the plague runs its course.
New Zealanders embraced this policy for the sake of getting rid of the virus. But this is not remotely comparable to the achievements of nations such as Taiwan, South Korea and to some extent Singapore, which have kept the virus under control or out altogether while also keeping their society and economy going.

Before COVID-19, Ardern was trailing in the polls. Her list of undelivered election promises is staggering: 100,000 affordable homes promised, 600 built; homelessness to be eradicated, it increased; zero carbon emissions by 2050, emissions went up; reduce child poverty, it went up; regional public service emphasis, more public servants based in Wellington than before; light rail from Auckland airport to CBD, abandoned.

Validated by a swooning international media, unchallenged by a tepid and under-resourced local media, she has sold the narrative that her government has saved NZ. With Peters gone, and the Greens more influential, she will move left in her second term, presaging a lost decade for our beloved cousins across the ditch. One consolation: the best of them will come here.”

  12. Labour has a plan to destroy the free market. It’s housing.

The country is mired in unproductive debt – through housing. Labour are flat out printing money to lend, for housing, to the bankrupt population. Debt is going up as production falls. They then sell the rising house prices as economic success. I won’t insult the readers intelligence by explaining why this can’t work.

As a nation – we have massive debt, both govt and personal. No prospects. No means to repay it. And the govt is handing out money at an incredible rate.

Do you know what has happened every time that has been done?

    • Bang on Kea. I note an article about Bob Jones this morning where he plainly states that there will be a massive crash, likely next year and that RJI have been building capital for exactly this. Bargains to be had from the carnage in his eyes.

  14. Four Catholic men and a Catholic woman were having coffee in St. Peters Square. The first Catholic man tells his friends, “My son is a priest, when he walks into a room, everyone calls him ‘Father’.”
The second Catholic man chirps, “My son is a Bishop. When he walks into a room people call him ‘Your Grace’.”
The third Catholic gent says, “My son is a Cardinal. When he enters a room everyone bows their head and says ‘Your Eminence’.”
The fourth Catholic man says very proudly, “My son is the Pope. When he walks into a room people call him ‘Your Holiness’.”
Since the lone Catholic woman was sipping her coffee in silence, the four men give her a subtle, “Well …?” She proudly replies, “I have a daughter, slim, tall, 38″ DD bust, 24″ waist and 34” hips. When she walks into a room, everybody says, “Oh My God.”

Thousands defy government ban to attend pro-democracy protest in Thailand
    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/world/2020/10/thousands-defy-government-ban-to-attend-pro-democracy-protest-in-thailand.html

Tens of thousands of Thai protesters cheered and chanted into the night in central Bangkok on Thursday in a show of mass defiance to a ban on demonstrations designed to end more than three months of anti-government action.

Growing demonstrations have targeted King Maha Vajiralongkorn as well as Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha, a former junta leader, in the biggest challenge for years to an establishment long dominated by the army and palace.

“Like dogs cornered, we are fighting till our deaths,” Panupong “Mike Rayong” Jadnok, one the high-profile protest leaders who remains free, told the crowd. “We won’t fall back. We won’t run away. We won’t go anywhere.”

      • I was there last time they had a coup. Red shirts/Yellow shirts. Tanks and AK47’s floating around. Not nice.
Last year I could see the writing on the wall. There was much talk around the place, people were not happy. When ‘K’ IX passed away, basically the shackles came off the T people.
The current PM is an army general who led the last coup. He is not liked.
What makes it worse this time around is the fact that the protesters are also taking aim at the royalty.. that’s a BIGLY no no. I won’t mention the current ‘K’ X ..but he is very disliked. Mix in a bit of Covid..collapsed tourism sector, millions of unemployed, desperation and hungry tummys…I know whats coming.
Thais are usually very, very placid people but when they get angry especially as a large group, its not a good place to be.

    • Would that have been a sop put out to appease types like this. eh comrade? 🙁

From some of those old time comrades. 16 October 2020

…… The perspective of world socialist revolution is not a utopian aim; it represents the only practical solution to the disaster created by capitalism. ……
….. the only party that it fighting to build the necessary revolutionary leadership in the international working class to abolish capitalism. …..

      https://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/PO2010/S00203/the-fight-for-social-equality-against-the-pandemic-and-war-is-the-fight-for-world-socialism.htm

Was there not something a while ago that capitalism had flaws back in 2017?
Whoops it was Winston said capitalism had flaws, and so the birds of feather ……

She has also, however, called capitalism “a blatant failure” for allowing high levels of homelessness, and bonded with Winston Peters—the leader of New Zealand First, a populist party in her governing coalition—over his decidedly non-Third Way attacks on neoliberalism.
      .
Chris Hipkins, an Ardern lieutenant with multiple briefs including education, likewise insists that the aim is not just “tinkering around the edges of the neoliberal model.”
Rather than being content with fixing a few “market failures,” ministers recognise that “the state does have a role in public services, that public service is different from the market, and that market decisions don’t always apply in the public sector.”

But unsaid; she can stay if you all vote for her, an emotional cult blackmail. 🙁

We on the other hand must:- “never never never give in”.
It took 3 years before it could be said;-
“Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning”.
Then all the tough work, done and dusted in the next 3 years.

Combined with the Media having a very clear directive to attack National this week it screams that this Election is going to be way, waaay closer than people think.
For the record I think National/Act will go close but no cigar and unfortunately we will be stuck with the Labour/Greens nightmare.

  18. All eyes on Christmas as economist predicts ‘double-digit’ downturn in early 2021

An economist says many Kiwis in business will be looking to Christmas as a sign of the state of New Zealand’s economy, but warns a “double-digit downturn” could be on the cards for early 2021.

He said there is something of a two-speed economy taking place – some are strongly affected, especially those in low-paying retail or tourism jobs, while others have seen little change from before Covid.

“Looking forward into 2021, we think the economy is going to start contracting again, because there are more job losses coming through,” Kiernan said.

  19. NZ Election 2020: Judith Collins reveals result that’d be ‘fantastic’ for National
    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2020/10/nz-election-2020-judith-collins-reveals-result-that-d-be-fantastic-for-national.html

“If we can get in the late 30s tomorrow night, that would be fantastic and that is a way through. We have got 15 per cent in that poll last night undecideds. We could do a lot,” the National Party leader said.

“It would be great. Let’s just be realistic. If these polls are right and you have got ACT at eight. That is actually a winning combination.”

“We have just done so well. I can’t believe how well we have done as a party and as a caucus. But it is really important that we do better.”

At Thursday night’s leaders’ debate, Collins said she should be kept on as leader after the election even if her party fails to win Government.

“I am doing a very good job. Nobody can say I am not putting everything into it. I think that we need very strong leadership and we need someone who can make decisions and I am that person with the experience to do it.”

  20. I havent watched any of the debates so far and have no intention of doing so but what I have heard from Judith has surprised me as to how suited she is to the role of Leader of the NP. And I wasn’t a fan previously. If National does lose and throw her under the bus it would be a huge mistake. She’s the only one who can rein in Jacinda as the usual cries of “sexist, racist, misogynist” can’t be applied to her. Replacing her with Luxon would be the death knell, expect NP to drop to Bill English levels of popularity.
My one concern that if the referenda for cannabis passes and National win power, they would do exactly what the Labour party did when the smacking bill was declined by NZers and they pushed it through anyway, except NP will ignore the wishes of NZers in favour.

      • The so called referendum is meaningless.
Parliament can do what they like .

If it is a Green/Lab Govt then the Greens will push for the legislation.
They are ideology driven and not pragmatic.
And to a marxist, democracy is a joke to them.
They use the system against you.

The anti smacking referendum at 88% to drop stupid law was ignored.
the sensible ‘drop the number of MPs to 99’ referendum was FOR 81% but ignored.

Referendum are generally bollocks in NZ
For that reason I left that one blank.
To make any mark would show some respect for it and i don’t respect it.

    • Similar.

I think Collins has done well on a messy campaign and one must heavily factor in a lying, scummy, filthy media making up bollocks (even more than usual)
The outfit behind her (I wont say team, they lost that post-2016) is poor quality.

I think people don’t appreciate how strong Muldoon really was.
He had some pretty capable MPs but overwhelmed them.
Those sort of people – in those numbers – are not in Parliament today, or even this past decade.

Key up to 2016 had people well organised .
      This dissipated quickly.
English had his small inner circle including Nick Smith and this meant he never connected like Key did.
Key had the stars aligned..and did nothing with it.

It is hard to read her in a short time but I wonder If Collins is a significant departure from the slackness of the past 10 years
She presents something good, from what I can assess.
It is probably not what is wanted by weak and feeble MPs – of which there are too many in Notional today and the replacements – given selection under President Goodfellow – are generally ‘downward dog’.

As the country moves away from church going and religion in the last 30 years Notional has moved rapidly towards it.
It has had 50% catholic PMs in the last 4.
Although it is difficult to include English as a PM because it looked like he was practicing home quarantine for 9 months in 2017.

      in short.
-Notional seem to be on a good thing with Collins after a troubled last 3 years but the low energy and low intellectual horsepower of the current (N) MPs and their weak and woke direction will not want to retain this.
-N is godward bound in a time kiwis are moving away from this.
-It could be a turning point where Notional fall away from being ‘a major party’
-N are so indistinguishable from liebour in so many area is there is not much purpose for them.
-Goldsmith is well short of previous finance people and that was a prior differentiator.
-If they lose, and dump Collins, and replace her with Luxon, yes, 2002 looms large.

  21. Looks like President Trump might kill two birds with one stone —Biden and the big tech guys. That is, Biden and his family are shown to be as corrupt as most of us who read widely have known for some time and Big Tech have been caught out big time doing what conservatives have known all along –they are censoring anything that does not suit their narrative. If Trump wins, expect the huuuuge regulatory hammer to come down on them.

  23. Spending taxpayer money like there was no tomorrow, and then Covid struck.

NZ Election 2020: David Seymour’s claim Labour turned $6b surplus into $1b deficit before COVID-19 ‘mostly true’ – AAP factcheck
    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2020/10/nz-election-2020-david-seymour-s-claim-labour-turned-6b-surplus-into-1b-deficit-before-covid-19-mostly-true-aap-factcheck.html

In response to a question about ACT’s path to power, Mr Seymour characterised voters as saying, “These are the guys that gave us KiwiBuild, can they really rebuild our country out of this? Can they really get on top of the debt when they took, I think it was a $6 billion surplus to a billion dollar deficit in only two years before COVID happened?”

AAP FactCheck analysed Mr Seymour’s claim that a $6 billion surplus had been reduced to a $1 billion deficit in the space of two years pre-COVID-19.

According to the 2018 report, the government recorded a surplus of $5.5 billion in the financial year ending 30 June, $500 million less than Mr Seymour’s figure of $6 billion (page 22, table 2.1 – fiscal indicators). The following year’s surplus was $7.3 billion, according to the 2019 report (page 24, table 2.1 – fiscal indicators).

In the same report, Treasury provides the projected deficit for 2020 as $0.9 billion, close to the $1 billion deficit highlighted by Mr Seymour.

Its a time to gather around the common ground and put aside our trivial differences. It’s not our brown brothers, or even the Jew, that is the problem. It’s us.

  26. I posted this on the Prediction thread above as well but it worth reposting as it is quite interesting

Here is a guy posting on BDF who does his own analysis seat by seat

“Ok folks. I have finished my analysis of election results from the 2017 election (including booth analysis) in addition to looking at boundary changes and how that affects they political party strength as well as new electorates. I have not taken into account any polls from any polling outfit whatsoever – they mean nothing because of how erratic they can be. So this is my result. I don’t think NZF will return, neither the Greens and there are numerous reasons why but the reliance on overseas special votes in my view as where Green’s gain, is gone. Now, my results are from my analysis and from no-one else and of course BFD is great as a forum for discussion it may generate that (or not!). This election has been far more interesting to analyse by comparison with all the elections in the past, so, hold onto your hats because it will be very close I think. If you feel like doing your own calculations go to https://elections.nz/stats-… and have a go! ”

He has a chart which I cannot copy and paste but it says

% of Vote MPs Electorate MPs List MPs
    ACT 9 13 1 12
    Labour 42 58 26 32
    National 35 49 45 4

So it all hinges on the Greens missing out from what I can see.

  27. Fourteen Kiwis detained in Australia for sneaking into Melbourne
    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/world/2020/10/fourteen-kiwis-detained-in-australia-for-sneaking-into-melbourne.html

Fourteen New Zealanders have been detained in Australia for sneaking on to a flight to Melbourne.

The Herald Sun reports the travellers landed in Sydney and managed to slip through domestic security to board a connecting flight into Melbourne – which is not accepting international travellers.

They were discovered when they landed in Melbourne and have been kept in the airport until a flight back to Sydney is available.
