I’m told that the Government has completely changed the way that over-65 aged drivers are to ‘monitored’ and that these new regs’ came into force on 6 October.
As it’s not April 1 (And so therefore this ‘alteration’ would seem to have actually occurred), has anyone received formal notification that they have to comply and how this is to be done?

Based on official sources from the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA, also known as Waka Kotahi), there are no new major changes to driving licence renewal rules in 2025 specifically targeting seniors over 65. NZTA has explicitly warned about false information circulating online claiming such changes, including rumors that drivers over 65 must renew every 2 years or face other draconian restrictions—these claims are inaccurate and appear to stem from misinformation or outdated/misinterpreted proposals.

Would make this blog a little bit more “user friendly” and others will be better able to keep up with comments, that are lost in an earlier thread.

It now runs a reduced number to only 8 comments, when before it ran at 16, though if to be altered, 20 would be a good number to help others.
