  1. Next years election slogan for NZ first will be “Vote for NZ First to keep Liarbour and the Greens honest”

    • The previous slogan of “Vote for Winston First to keep National honest” was promoted by Slater.

Do you reckon this one will be promoted by Martyn Martin Bradbury? It would seem fitting.

Or is it only sub-Continental matches that are under suspicion?

    • England deserved to lose, fielding was abysmal, batting not as bad but lost Roy and Morgan cheaply, Roy played a shocker. Starting to get interesting, could be NZ, Aussie,India, West Indies make the cut. In saying that, India are yet to play.
The diversity team are finding that picking people on their colour isn’t a great idea, meanwhile killing more white farmers, Zimbabwe 2 coming up. South Africa look like being ready to return home on India’s first outing. Maybe they can solve it by only playing teams with a certain percentage of colour. The world has gone crazy.

      • Before the game the slime were speculating whether Pakistan could stop England scoring more than the WC record in their innings (obviously pre-toss).

The headlines now stress how large the England target was.

Some fun reading around the traps today, particularly because the Poms are still getting over the weekend’s boxing.

    • I guess their are also many from Taranaki seeking out opportunity in Australia instead of sitting and waiting to learn how to be a vegan and knitting hemp or bamboo socks for a living. Don’t mention filthy wool grown by dirty emitting disgusting sheep.
I think any person wearing wool should be publicly shamed, disgusting attitude to our terminal existence on this planet.
Taranaki can do what Queensland did, but need to fight back.
One of their mayors looks like he has rolled over and taken the pittance on offer.
Start showing these idiots just how stupid they really are.

      • This awful Col sticks a big knife in Taranaki’s back, robs thousands of long-term jobs, (in a multi-billion dollar industry FFS) and then flicks them a fancy new “clean energy centre” worth a few million bucks. Not only is this SO insulting to Average Joe Kiwis, these dumbshits won’t even find a carpenter to BUILD the f*ckin thing!

  4. And once-more the Lamestream Media illuminate their biases for all to see.

Apparently, Trump rants at village idiot and mayor of London, Sadiq Khan. However, village idiot and mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, does not rant at Donald Trump with “is just one of the most egregious examples of a growing global threat”. No, Khan is a ‘considered opinion’ whilst Trump is a ‘rant’.

Next, the media will pretend they’re actually neutral.

    0

    0

    • Trump tweeted “Sadiq Khan is a stone cold idiot”. So you wonder why on earth he would do that before he has even landed in Britain for a State visit. Well, that little nugget was left till after the click bait headline. Trump responded to Khan giving approval for the street protesters to float their Trump baby blimp while Trump is being hosted by the British Govt and Queen Elizabeth. Go Trump!

      0

      0

    • And the Lamestream keep going parading their biases. This time with headlines like “Trump, still making it awkward”. In case any “journalist” bothers to look your Messiah, Obama, was a bungling idiot back in his day as well. The difference is you didn’t bother to report it.

Oh, look at this nitwit who didn’t follow protocol and who made it awkward:

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNRXGRFJdDY

Why was this never national news if Trump’s faux pas are?

  5. Hi you good users. I am new here. Fairydust received an email from the editor on Saturday and forwarded it on to me. I have heard you are giving her a hard time. Be nice to her. She has had a hard upbringing and is slowly getting her shit together. I don’t know where she gets the time to join this blog and say what she does. Good on her for doing so.

Someone has to come on here and give another side to these debates you are having. I will try and post on a regular basis. I work in the social field and it will be tough finding the time.

    0

    0

    • Work in the social field..? Is that like reading between the lines with Clarke on a Friday night in the city? Or just PR and woman’s weekly photo shoot assistant to Cindy every other week?

      0

      0

    • She has had a hard upbringing and is slowly getting her shit together.

      Haven’t we all?

Someone told me years ago that there were children that had worse childhoods than me. I replied with “That’s true, I survived”. I have permanent physical injuries thanks to the loving embrace of socialist parents.

      0

      0

    • Be nice to her? Is she nice to us? Not that ‘we’ require sycophancy. I would say that those on this blog are more open to other views than a left leaning blog would be. Trolling on the other hand is different. Anyway posting here is a choice, are you saying that Fairydust is a masochist by posting here?

I express my objection to the word ‘nice’.

      0

      0

      • Now now Rachael we are an all inclusividy blog. If someone wants to come here and asks you to be “nice” we must “respect” her “feelz” and not “offend” her.
Says he with the sarcasm literally dripping off.

        0

        0

    • Hi Char-mayne. I take it from your comment that you are here to “give another side to these debates you are having”. So what is your politics? Are you a died in the wool lefty/socialist dreamer, or perhaps you see increasing irresponsible demands on services that the taxpayer cannot keep paying for?

      0

      0

    • Tough? It is entirely voluntary. I would love to hear your views on this Government, if Fairydust needs you as a crutch then she is more like Jacinda than I previously thought.

Although I have suggested that they get some friends, (you I think have just confirmed she), is that the same as getting someone to give a personal plea for niceness? Are you ‘woke’?

How would you like ‘nice’ to be expressed, by agreeing with things that are not what I agree with?

      0

      0

    • Well welcome Char-mayne. I hope you are a little more able to add reasoned and fact-based input than your friend, if so you will be a very valuable addition to the general debate here. The great weakness of the ‘woke’ left is their inability to present any rationale at all for the policy positions other than ‘the feelz’. Fairydust seems only able to offer ‘Waacist’ or ‘Hayte speech’ to rebut any ideas or observations put forward here.

I for one would be most grateful for anyone who can illuminate with insight and intelligence the position and direction adopted by the political left.

Again you are many times welcome.

      • Wow what a tough crowd. Fairydust wasn’t wrong when she told me you were such a bunch of righties.
Never mind I am here and I am sure we can cope together in a civilised manner.

        0

        0

        • Someone posts a welcome to you and you respond by calling them a tough crowd?
Hell’s teeth, what were you expecting?

          0

          0

        • Yes we are righties, but please do engage in the conversation. There is a very simple explanation of why the folks here think and comment as we do- we believe in freedom, small Govt, low taxes, and self-responsibility. None of these values are “racist”, “sexist”, or “homophobic” by a country mile. Welcome to YSB 🙂

  6. Hi Chars, thanks for coming on here. They are bunch of alt-rights who are always down on the like of us. Our ideas are totally strange to them. Together we can oppose their comments.

    0

    0

    • Curb you hate speech and bigoted labeling of me! Im so outraged! That will lead to death threats against me, even if they are from myself!

Im hardly alternative, just a general old fashioned right leaning New Zealand who would prefer that our country stay as it is/was.

      0

      0

    • Interesting that your point is “to oppose”, rather than discuss. It signals to me that you can and will see no view other than your own and that you are closed to the idea of liberty, personal freedom and personal accountability.

There is a better world than the jackboot, authoritarian socialism of Jacinda. Promise! You will however have to debate it, not just oppose it.

      0

      0

    • Alt-right? What do you base that descriptor on? As that is used as an insult, you have a bit of a cheek. Chars might see you as ‘not nice?’

      0

      0

    • No need to oppose my comments. I’m a political slut and am ready to sell my vote to the highest bidder.
      What’s on offer, Fairydust?

      • I suppose you are a traitor to your feelings Maggy and that you would be prepared to change your mind if you were merely presented with an explanation that seemed reasonable and logical.

The worst kind of open-mindedness. Pah! In our gloriously infantilised society, one must recognise that facts are just a social construct and that you must stay true to the narrative, regardless of facts or information that would lead you to change your opinion on a subject. Let your feelings rule you. Believe only what your teachers tell you (they wouldn’t lie would they) and what you see on TV (they wouldn’t lie would they). You don’t need to think! You don’t need to have explanations or proof! You just need to believe your betters like our glorious empathic leader.

  7. After a long night of passion, the young guy rolled over, pulled out a cigarette from his jeans and searched for his lighter. Unable to find it, he asked the girl if she had one at hand.

“There might be some matches in the top drawer,” she replied.

He opened the drawer of the bedside table and found a box of matches sitting neatly on top of a framed picture of another man. Naturally, the guy began to worry.

“Is this your husband?” he inquired nervously.

“No, silly,” she replied, snuggling up to him.

    “Your boyfriend then?” he asked.

“No, not at all,” she said, nibbling away at his ear.

“Well, who is he then?” demanded the bewildered guy.

Calmly, Sally replied, “That’s me before the operation.

    • The whole thing surely can’t have much value anyway.
There are 180 awards, twice a year.
That is one a day. Not really unique are they.
      Here’s some MNZM recipients:-

      >Ms Allison Muriel Dobbie, Auckland, for services to library and information management and the arts
She was paid as a public servant to be head of the Library at Auckland Council.
She was just doing her paid job.

On a similar vein, prior to Geoff Palmer’s messing up local Govt in 1989 and introducing paid councillors perhaps they could get awards for community service. Now they are paid they can also get awards.
      Double dipping. This is OTT.
If you volunteer it is one thing but if you are paid to do a job – usually from the public purse- then there should not be these awards.

      How about this one:
      >Mr Ewen Robert Pirie, Wyndham, for services to clay target shooting
I suppose when you throw millions and millions at rich fellas yachting events you have to sprinkle some other fairydust. But still…

      and
      >Ms Phylesha Brown-Acton, Auckland, for services to the Pacific and LGBTQI+ communities
      …. yay for the alphabets

      and
Hinemoa bloody Elder. Clearly that was not an award for good parenting!
      Face Painting perhaps?

One award a day handed out.
They must be running around looking for them.
It is all so racist. But we won’t hear about that.
When was the last time there was an award for services to white people?

    • Oh, and this whole gamut is sexist.
If a bloke gets ‘Sir’ his wife can be ‘Lady’
      Forever.
Frank Renouf’s wife of a few months was there at the right time and spent the rest of her life being Lady Susan Renouf when it suited.
For 30 years after the marriage ended and even 20 years after he died.

However if a woman becomes a Dame, her husband gets nothing.
      This is soooo sexist.

It is not that they refuse to assimilate, it is that they can’t.
Muslims, irrespective of the country of their origin, (except Iran or Turkey [really?]) were raised in such way that they can never assimilate into Western culture.
True Muslims unanimously abide by and live under the laws of Sharia and not the Constitution …. or other man-made laws in other countries.

… to be a loyal and faithful Muslim, one must adhere to and perform many rituals, as specified in the Quran by Allah and the Hadiths/Sunna, every waking moment of his entire life.
Disobeying these rituals does not make one a moderate Muslim, but rather it would make him a non-Muslim, facing an uncertain future.
It is not their fault that they adhere to their customs and traditions. They were born with it.
It is our fault that we bring them here and force them to assimilate. They won’t.

Keep this in mind, it is mandatory for a Muslim to adhere to Islamic laws and not to a man-made law ….
A Muslim can never be both a Muslim and a … [kiwi] at the same time. If a …. politician does not understand this common theme within Islam and its political nature, it is a disservice to those who elected them into office.

Now that Muslims are here in ….. , they do not shy away to demand an accommodation according to their own Islamic Law which is unconstitutional.
We are left with no choice but to allow them to do as they please. Like any good dhimmi would do. That is Sharia law.

What is incredible is the gall and audacity of Muslims to demand Western democracies legalize Sharia in their own societies. ….

  13. Winston’s Post-budget magical mystery tour:
    https://www.newsroom.co.nz/2019/06/04/619315/winstons-post-budget-magical-mystery-tour

…”Peters refers to the lower currency, $1 billion for research and development, and then grumps about three billion logs being exported, without value being added, from Gisborne’s port, which is “not sound for the economy”.

Asked again what was in the Budget for the business audience he’s just addressed, Peters says: “Well, as I said, $1 billion for research and development. Ahhh. An economy with more money than there’s ever been in our economy at any time in its history. If you’re any good at making money, you should be able to make some.”

Except the $1 billion for research and development – which is a tax break, including for some state-owned enterprises – wasn’t in the Budget. It was a policy announced last October by Ministers Megan Woods and Stuart Nash. That whittles down Peters’ message to businesses, effectively, to: The economy’s awash with money, go and make some.”…

    Full of it or delusional?

    0

    0

    • “Not sound for the economy”? Not sure how he knows given he is responsible for a coalition that has done considerable harm to the economy and heading to do more. At least the log shipments have generated work in the community and are exports. Yes, there are issues with fair apportionment of roading costs and land use but these are nothing compared to the potential impact on farming by the Zero Carbon Bill.

The Zero Carbon Bill will impact negatively on more than just the farming industry. We will all get clobbered as we have been by the latest Excise tax to fund rail and public transport.

Mr Peters government has allowed the “captains Call” to decimate the Taranaki economy and thus the whole economy. They have form with economic waste. It is the soundness of the economy that is their weak point.

  16. The Northern Advocate alternates Letters to the Editor with “Facebook Feedback”. In today’s issue a contributor writes:

“We live in the Far North & once marijuana was everywhere now it’s like hen’s teeth as meth is the main drug of choice & very cheap. So many families up here are hooked the little kids sit in the house with it 24/7 with no escape, they are just as hooked as the parents, it’s a sad place to be up here I can assure you! Help is here but at what cost! I think they have to move quickly as every day someone dies.”

The author may not be the greatest writer but seems sincere.

Successive governments of both hues, police & customs must take the blame for the meth debacle. For years cops played Rambos, jumping out of choppers to pull a few spindly dope plants. People were turned over & charged for the remains of a “tinnie” in their possession. Who can remember when a NZ activist (possibly Shadbolt) had his lounge floor vacuumed by the police searching for evidence?

Meanwhile the gangs laughed & constructed empires from P. We are reaping in destruction what was sown in ignorance!

  17. When we left the big smoke to retire to the boondocks we realised we might not have a big choice as to medical care etc…but as we were past our use-by dates, we figured no great loss.

On Friday, Hubby realised one eye was in trouble..and self-diagnosed that he had macular degeneration.
He called Spec Savers and got an early Sat morning appointment with our Optician.
Diagnosis confirmed by 11am on Sat.
Husband a bit grumpy when he was warned that because there aren’t many eye surgeons in Gizzy, he mightn’t get seen for a few weeks…..and the condition could deteriorate drastically, but optician would tell Gizzy Hospital that Hubby was an urgent case.

At 2:30pm Saturday Optician called to say he’d scored a spot for Hubby on Tues afternoon at the Hospital Eye clinic.
So today Hubby got first treatment… injection of “stuff” into affected eye… We were home by 4pm.
Now he’s down in his man cave fiddling with his circuitboards and tweaking his twiddlers.
I can’t see that we could have got better or faster service in Wellington.

    0

    • The only real downside to medical support away from the main centres is the quality of the service offered. I’m not suggesting that it’s third world but cutting edge techniques take longer to filter through.

But by & large we don’t know how lucky we are.
