  2. Up to 2000 workers from the Pacific allowed into NZ to fill horticulture, wine industry jobs
    https://www.tvnz.co.nz/one-news/new-zealand/up-2000-workers-pacific-allowed-into-nz-fill-horticulture-wine-industry-jobs?auto=6212508109001

Additional financial incentive is also being offered to unemployed Kiwis who take on seasonal work.

Under the Recognised Seasonal Employer (RSE) exception, employers will pay the workers at least $22.10 an hour and cover the cost of managed isolation.

Workers will be paid the equivalent of a 30-hour work a week while they complete managed isolation.

    • Saggy ,It’s a fucking joke, just imagine her waddling up to some world leader all tattooed up with that stupid look on her face.
At least the Maggot Peters was as sharp as a tack when it came to international affairs, this creature is going to be the laughing stock of the jet set.
Her main claim to fame was and she made a big fuss over the fact that she’s the first MP to have a dribble tattoo in parliament FFS, a total loser like Twatford could do a better job than she will do.

  3. Lefties can’t stop blackmailing others.

Under the Registered Seasonal Employer (RSE) scheme, workers from various Pacific Island nations will be allowed in between January and March next year to help plug labour shortages in the horticultural and wine sectors.

However, employers must meet a set of strict criteria. Companies will be required to cover the cost of managed isolation, currently estimated at $4722 per person in addition to paying the workers a minimum of $22.10 an hour.

The Government has announced it will allow 2000 horticultural workers from the Pacific to enter New Zealand in the new year under strict conditions, in the first significant opening of the border to foreign workers since the Covid-19 pandemic hit.

    https://www.stuff.co.nz/business/farming/123520634/government-announces-first-major-border-exemption-with-2000-horticultural-workers-coming-in-the-new-year

Its that or employ our own lazy buggers who don’t want to work.
Not sure where the Govt. thinks employers are going to find the money to do this.

“We’ve been working with the sector for quite a long time trying to get the balance right,” Immigration Minister Kris Faafoi told Stuff.

While acknowledging that the sector will be left “quite a bit short” of the desired number of workers, Faafoi said the process was pragmatic and the Government was still working on ways to get Kiwis into the jobs.

    Its the reset of course.
    Why would we bother?

  4. The idea to increase the minimum wage of $18.90 to the living wage of $22.10 per hour is the obvious headline grabber of the recent “Gains for Everyone” report from the Helen Clark Foundation and the New Zealand Institute of Economic Research.

How much we pay our lowest earners always gets people’s attention and the point of the suggestion is arguably to spark discussion.

It is an irony that the politicians, economists, business owners and even media commentators who opine so knowingly on the costs and benefits of paying people more or less have only a distant memory of earning a minimum wage themselves.

    https://www.stuff.co.nz/taranaki-daily-news/opinion/300166322/incremental-minimum-wage-increases-a-valuable-tool-in-the-battle-against-inequality

Well I have been listening to this rehtoric for around 50+ years since I was old enough to take I in.
Its not new at all. Its almost an annual wail.

But you know what. I doubt that the situation has changed much for many. They simply continue to make bad decisions, fail to educate , fail to work, borrow to live, spend everything every week much of the spending frivolous and a waste.
but still they want more instead of learning tosave, learning not to waste money.
Its a choice and freedom of choice will be attacked again.
We will be taxed even more as so will they.
Raise the wages and therefore raise the taxes and therefore raise the benfots paid.
all tied together in an unholy alliance.

    • On the money, Viking. Add to the increase in minimum wage, the inevitable consequential demand for increases from those currently earning close to the minimum wage who will want their margins protected. So the cost to the employer will be even more. And the price of the product will have to increase – given that the labour input is already less than needed, so savings can’t be made in labour costs (or fruit etc will be left to rot) – for which the supermarkets will be blamed.
Unintended Consquences – those who have never run/managed a business have no concept. I include politicians and the Public Servants who advise them in that.

  5. How a breakthrough material could supercharge our homes and cars
    Olivia Wannan11:34, Nov 25 2020

MacDiarmid Institute and University of Canterbury researcher Martin Allen is investigating the material gallium oxide as a replacement for the silicon we currently use in electronic devices. The new electronics are “faster, smaller and more efficient”, he said.

When electricity runs through silicon circuitry, some power is lost as heat. That is why your laptop heats up when running and comes with a fan to cool it down if temperatures get too high.

In contrast, electronics made from gallium oxide are more efficient – the heat losses are not as high and more power remains for the task at hand.

“That immediately saves emissions. And New Zealand is a particularly important place to do this in because we have already got 85 per cent renewable energy,” Allen said.

Silicon stops working when it gets much above 100 degrees Celsius. Although gallium oxide creates less heat, the electronics still work even when the mercury is as high as 500C, Allen’s team discovered.

“We were blown away,” Allen said. “In fact, instead of getting damaged, they seem to be getting better and better under high temperatures.”

Science is the go. Never mind the arty farty.

    • Silicon is readily available and cheap.
The heat produced in laptops has mainly coming from spinning hard disks.
The solid state drives reduce power consumption considerably.
This is the real reason that laptops can now run up to 6 hours on battery.
The less power required from solid state drives, not any notable improvement in battery storage .

It may become a solution in niche markets.

  6. A Man goes into a baker’s Shop and asks for two bread rolls. The shopkeeper picks up two rolls with a pair of tongs and puts them in a paper bag.
The man then asks for two cakes. Again, the shopkeeper picks them up with the tongs and puts them in the bag.
The man says, “It’s nice to see, that you don’t manhandle the food”.
The shopkeeper says, “Sir, nothing in my shop is handled by human hands.”
The man then noticed a piece of string, hanging from the shopkeeper’s trousers and asks:
“What’s that piece of string for?”
The shopkeeper says, “Well, that’s for when I need a piss. I pull on the string and my old boy, just pops out.”
“Great idea,” says the man, “but, pray, tell me how you put it back in”
    “That’s not a problem”, says the shopkeeper…
    “I just use the tongs”

    • Though before the filing the suit by Powell, this guy well explains a lot of a detail that the media do not mention.

    • The bizarre thing about the ACTUAL coup the NWO tried to carry out – is that still so many people believe Biden won fair and square.

80% of Dem voters think that way.

The human race is doomed if that many people think there is no problem when:
      – you send out 1.8 million postal votes but count 2.4 million (with a statistically improbable landslide for Biden)
      – that Biden won the record lowest number of counties (only 16.7%) while blowing records for the highest number of overall votes

The book keeping is farcical, Al Capone did life in jail for less.

      • I assume that each postal ballot carries a unique serial number, and that all counted serial numbers are tabulated in a central computer to catch any fraudulent votes.

If you put serial numbers on your paper currency, why would you not do the same for your ballot papers?
Is a trustworthy vote not as important for a democracy as a trustworthy currency?

Kiwis offered $1000 incentive to jump into seasonal work amid horticulture labour shortage
    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/rural/2020/11/kiwis-offered-1000-incentive-to-jump-into-seasonal-work-amid-horticulture-labour-shortage.html

“We’ve also introduced an incentive payment of $500 to be paid to the employee halfway through the contract and another $500 to be paid at the end for jobs that last six weeks or more.”

Changes had also been made to the Seasonal Work Assistance Programme to provide more support for people who had moved off a benefit to take up a seasonal job, but haven’t been able to work due to bad weather and as a result had lost income, Sepuloni said.

  9. Some would just say “incidental collateral damage” but others fight back and win.

Others resist, like in Mexico. 🙂

…. “No, it’s not our duty to give you our data. You have earned our mistrust. Nor should it be mandatory to carry a cellphone,” ….
….. backlash to the idea of a compulsory contact tracing system forced the local government to backtrack.
On Thursday, four days before the day the plan was supposed to be implemented, the government announced that the use of the QR code app would not be compulsory for both individuals and businesses since more people said they would ignore it.

  11. Does anyone know how many cycles are run in PCR tests in New Zealand? (Assuming that the number of cycles is constant.)
As the number of cycles increases, the probability of getting a false positive increases geometrically.

The PCR test can’t tell you if the virus is whole (and functioning) or whether only fragments of its RNA have been detected in the sample.

  13. Probably a bit of conspiracy but given what is happening, anything is possible. I read a comment on a USA site earlier saying there rumours going around that Biden has spoken to Mitch McConnell about a deal. They are worried one of the key court cases will get over the line so apparently he says if they keep Hunter Biden’s laptop buried he will concede. If it is remotely true I doubt it is about the court cases but more about what is on the servers taken from Germany which probably implicates a large number of the DC swamp.
Probably all BS, but lets see what happens over the next week or so.

    https://www.tvnz.co.nz/one-news/new-zealand/dangerous-driving-gang-funeral-procession-sees-vehicles-impounded-multiple-infringement-notices

Police received more than 40 complaints about dangerous driving activity linked to the procession on Saturday November 7.

“The driving behaviours on display presented a very real risk to those involved, as well as other road users, and will not be tolerated,” he said.

“If you choose to put other motorists at risk through dangerous driving activity, such as sustained loss of traction, you can expect follow up action from police and your vehicle may be impounded.”

  17. It would seem that Ardern has been giving tips to Democrats about land for the indigenous, or the ones who “built”// the country.

…….. The Justice for Black Farmers Act that plans to establish The Equitable Land Access Service system. This land redistribution system would be led by an Under Secretary of Agriculture for Equitable Land Access. ……
……. co-sponsors such as Senators Elizabeth Warren and Kirsten Gillibrand. Lewis told Red Elephants that “the goals of Booker’s legislation aren’t all that dissimilar from those of the land expropriation acts enacted by South Africa’s ruling ANC government ……
……. demands for racial reparations for the accused crimes of the historic American nation in the post-white America envisioned by our hostile political class are cut from the same cloth.”
In the view of these leftist radicals, any type of beef with White people justifies race-based redistribution of the land and resources that productive Whites have managed for decades. ……
……. his case for this radical redistribution plan.
He cited “institutional racism” as the principal reason for why blacks are participating less in farming during the past century. ……

    https://theredelephants.com/corey-booker-is-introducing-south-african-style-land-confiscation-bill-to-dispossess-whites-and-give-million-acres-in-land-to-black-farmers/

A linkage in these ideas are very active and global.
Just like the old Lysenkoism in Russia, and Climate Change, with “cultural black & brown science”.

One would think that from a few projects underway in NZ, that Ardern can ably go and give great advice to the Democrats & Biden.

    • You’re a Polyanna V2. From Wikipedia:

…..”The United States Geological Survey (USGS) estimates that more than 1 million tons of gallium is contained in known reserves of bauxite and zinc ores.[47][48] Some coal flue dusts contain small quantities of gallium, typically less than 1% by weight.[49][50][51][52] However, these amounts are not extractable without mining of the host materials (see below). Thus, the availability of gallium is fundamentally determined by the rate at which bauxite, zinc ores (and coal) are extracted.”……

In our brave new world led by Green, socialist fuckwits there will be no mining & therefore no source of gallium to do anything with. Get back on your bamboo bicycle & hum Kumbaya.

  18. A look at the possible future of banking in small New Zealand towns

A new banking hub launched today in Martinborough is being described as the possible future of banking in small New Zealand towns.
    https://www.tvnz.co.nz/one-news/new-zealand/look-possible-future-banking-in-small-new-zealand-towns-v1?auto=6212594600001

It’s one of four regional hubs being trialled around the country in response to banks shutting down individual branches.

“Fundamentally what this is about is making sure we continue to see people who live in regional towns still able to access face-to-face banking,” Finance Minister Grant Robertson says.

  19. Here is how you do business. A company in China which started 5 years ago selling cosmetics is called Perfect Diary.

On Singles Day earlier this month they sold US$76 million in 31 seconds !!! For those who do not know what Singles Day is , it is an annual sale day , 11th November for online businesses –a bit like Black Friday but on massive steroids. Alibaba did US$74 billion in sales ( spread over 4 days to help cope with online traffic)
I think the Perfect Diary sales are done so quick because customers pre book the purchases and at 1 second past midnight the purchases automatically start being triggered.
