    • Mikey’s busy fossiking through the cupboards for a bottle of “breakfast”.

I hope he finds some, or else we will have to put up with him hallucinating all day.

    • Ive been up for ages, just chilling with coffee and thinking about the global warming that seems to have missed us in this land of communist rule. What a great pity as our useless ptpm says we have a global climate emergency and and and we had rain the day before yesterday so…….what can I say apart from the fact that she is a crazy bitch. And Kea, we will all be looking for a bottle in the cupboard in the mornings if this crazy government continues on this way. Maybe Mike is just way ahead of us.

      • At least the climate emergency isn’t so great that the SLG and her army of bureaucrats aren’t spending their 12 month holidays burning fossil fuels like Prince Charles and his fleet of cars, helicopters and jet planes.

      • Homemade vodka from our own potato crop. That’s the tried and true start to the day of the Russian proletariat, they had years of practice so it’s only fair we profit from their experience as comrades. The SLG and Robbo will still find a way to tax it for sure.

  1. “A fine day. Any early cloud clearing away to bright and sunny conditions. High 19 ” Finally, a bit of summer holiday weather, those in tents and camps will enjoy it, especially those by water.

    • Yep, looking up at the sun on the sprinkling of snow on the Tararuas. Still there from night before last. Not too summery, but very beautiful. Still 80% cloud cover at the mo, but sposed to be clearing to blue, as I head off North.

      • Not the first tome for snow up there at Xmas.
I remember the snow being on the beach at Paraparaumu -Waikanae one year.
Used to be the place to go to party. Remember it being bloody cold. Not an inviting place to shed your knickers in the evening.
Sand gets bloody cold when its like that.

        Gets in the knickers too!

  2. Water, water, everywhere, and not a drop to drink.
I am the man from the government and I am here to help you.

….. this month, the Cabinet has agreed to push through the biggest local infrastructure reform since the council amalgamations of the 1980s.

There’s been little fanfare. No speeches. No Government press conferences or Ministerial media releases.

But the $50 billion proposal will slash city and district councils’ balance sheets in half, handing over ratepayer water treatment and distribution infrastructure to about four big new government-owned water agencies.
If you don’t know about the Three Waters reforms, it’s time to sit up and listen. ……

…. taking over responsibility for drinking water, wastewater and stormwater for its region, by late 2023 or 2024…….
    https://www.newsroom.co.nz/govt-agencies-to-take-control-of-water

How much pay will those chairman, chief executives, chief engineers, etc. just like Auckland water systems be able to charge? onto your water bills, etc..

Nor does the “3 waters” mention how it would work in with “iwi” where koha will need to be collected and guidance around keeping “taniwha” placated, with in the great art of “mauri” forces also coming into being.

The “political class” of bureau-techno-crats & politicians are going to rectify the mistakes they made, in the first place, and at what cost.

Many of those local governments, moved away from the priorities at the behest of big government so they could do all wish lists of diversity crowning, vivacity of vibrant projects, parades, for the feelz good virtue signalling, etc.. then increased their stipends for their increased business.

Any example, as the costs are so high for Taupo Catchment, for their management, so all people in the Waikato Region have to pay a Taupo tax.
That is people, their land where water does not come from Taupo, nor flow to Taupo.
Just tax every one. …. yeah right.

      Iwi/Māori interests
Building on the Crown’s engagement with iwi/Māori through the Three Waters review, the Department is committed to working in partnership with our Treaty Partners as we progress the reforms. Our work requires ongoing engagement with iwi/Māori to understand Treaty rights of interests over the course of the reform period.

      • A read of a small part of the Scottish experience suggests this matter will increase household costs and the Scots did not have the Iwi component.

Rural New Zealand could be in for a punishing ride on this matter. Those with their own systems are already facing rate charges for something they do not and cannot use. Seems it may get worse.

          • Metering is the way to go. Stops the worst of the waste. Gives owners of rental houses some relief as the tenants have to pay for their groceries. Very successful in the Mount where people used to water their sand lawns 24 hours a day with drinkable water.

            • We are on a water meter for our town water as well the garden tank under the driveway. 😇

Not around here? but some are getting hold of those 1000ltr cubes used for transporting liquid to fill for a supply of water for the garden.

  4. A specialised police unit is using artificial intelligence technology to scour New Zealanders’ Facebook, TikTok, Instagram and other social media channels as part of its bolstered intelligence capabilities after the March 15 terrorist attack.
New Zealand Police have confirmed that it established an open source intelligence (OSINT) capability following the March 15 attacks.

“The team provides a dedicated capability that assists in the understanding and collection of information from online sources,” a police spokeswoman confirmed to the Herald.
The expert unit searches the internet and gathers information “in relation to people, events and issues of interest” to police.

However, it will only be able to access publicly-available information, police say..

The inquiry also noted: “The intelligence function of the New Zealand Police had degraded and from 2015 was not carrying out strategic terrorism threat assessments.”

It found that Tarrant, prior to his terrorist attack, occasionally used Facebook to post far right material.
    https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/christchurch-mosque-shootings-police-launch-ai-unit-to-monitor-kiwis-social-media/FPUXWU5V2W6EUCY3CEIXSXPLC4/

then of course there is the definition of what is far right or rather left fascist material that Tarrant quoted.
Unfortunately, there seems to be a great misconception of what is left or right.
But when we can’t figure out what a person’s gender is that’s no surprise.

    14

    • Like Tarrant’s social media posts from his recent trip to Pakistan, where he praised the deeply Islamic country and its people?

Brenton did not hate on anyone. He is a far left environmentalist. If anyone read his manifesto they would know that for certain. But they banned that and hid the evidence for 30 years.

        • The Marxists turn everything they say on its head. Whatever they accuse the right of doing they are up to their beady little eyes in. The left accuse Hitler of being far right when he was leader of the ‘National SOCIALIST Party’. Clearly totalitarian left. BLM and Antifa are far left Marxist groups who follow the playbook of Hitler’s Brown Shirts of the 30’s. Never trust a lefty or their propaganda arm the MSM.

    • Son has just moved to Hastings and is looking for a place. I have told him not to even contemplate buying a property that is tenanted. One place he wanted to look at was tenanted and the tenants would only allow one open home a week – no other inspections or visits – he steered well clear.

      14

      • It’s unacceptable and this is what the owner should do ( I did see the story on tv1 last night).
Wait down the road until they go out. Removal truck and crew on stand by. Upon seeing them drive off ..straight in. Empty the house in 30 minutes. Change the locks and station a guard at the front door for a few days. When they return security guard issues them with a trespass notice and a letter with your lawyers phone number. Now the ball is back in your court and they own the stress, not you. ( YOU become uncontactable)
I did all of this about 10 years ago to some shitbags who tried a similar number on me at a property I once owned just north of Christchurch. They decided to stop paying rent. I had the tenancy aggreement, paperwork etc. but I knew the tenancy tribunal eviction process was a long drawn out all- for- the-tenant wankfest.
The police got involved initially but left it alone after many back and forward phone calls to their legal dept. It was ‘a civil thing’.
In the end ( 6 months ) the shitbags gave up. I gave them the bill for storage, they paid, got their crap back and I never heard from them again.

Lady Interviewer: Do you drink every day?

    Man: Yes.

Lady Interviewer: How much a day?
…
Man: Around 3 six-packs starting at noon.

Lady Interviewer: How much does a 6-pack cost?

Man: Roughly $10.00 at a deli.

Lady Interviewer: And how long have you been drinking like that?

    Man: 15 years.

Lady Interviewer: So with a six-pack costing $10.00, and you consuming 3 six-packs a day, you are spending roughly $900 each month. In one year, you would then be spending $10,800, correct?

Man: Correct.

Lady Interviewer: If in 1 year you spend $10,800 on beer, not accounting for inflation, 15 years puts your spending roughly $162,000; correct?

    Man: Correct.

Lady Interviewer: Did it ever occur to you that if you did not drink for the last 15 years, you could have bought a Ferrari?

    Man: Do you drink?

Lady Interviewer: No.

Man: So where’s your fuckin’ Ferrari?

It is interesting how you subconsciously build up an “image” of a person from reading a few news reports or articles about a person over the years and find it to be totally wrong. My ‘image” of Snowden was a quiet , nerdy type with a hacker type mentality, who almost acted like it was a dare.
How wrong could I be –he is clearly a very intelligent and extremely articulate guy who really knows what he is talking about. I now join the call for him to be pardoned.

Well worth 90 minutes of your time to listen to it, if you have not already done so. There is a bit, quite close to the end about privacy and who owns the data etc. which gets to the nub of the issue.

    1) Draconian speed limits & enforcement.

    3) We have reached road cone saturation point.

    4) The absence of police on the roads of 95% of NZ after 9pm.

    • Yes, interesting coming from a former major-general, not just some talking head.
Economies will be in major shit soon enough, and there’s always been one sure fire way to ramp up an economy. I guess that answers the question, “war, what is it good for?”!

HAMBURG, Germany/ATHENS — Global conglomerate China COSCO Shipping is gearing up for a fight as it seeks to tighten its grip over the Greek port of Piraeus, the once-sleepy harbor that it has turned into the Mediterranean’s busiest hub for sea freight.

COSCO, which has invested hundreds of millions of dollars into Piraeus since first responding to an appeal for support from Greece in 2008 amid the global financial crisis, is now working to bring cruise ships and trains to the port and expand its offerings there into shipbuilding and repairs.

Which means winestone and shane are still on the books for another two weeks and a couple of days! Parliamentary services, of which the cunt Trevor Mallard is in charge of had better have orgznised tow trucks to pick all their vehicles! They fucked up last time and it was only the effort of whale oil that it was retuned! Did the pay of all the members that did not see reelection pay finish on the last day of Parliamentary session and return their vehicles?
