    This comment from Brian reminded me of a funny conversation I had with a group of Chinese teachers here in Guangzhou a few years ago.We were drinking tea,with the teapot having the old imperial motif on it.So I made the cheeky remark ‘’wouldn`t it be great if the Chinese flag was a yellow dragon on a blue background compared with the boring red flag’’…then one young female teacher pipes up with ‘’but the red represents the blood of the martyrs’’ which made all of the other teachers chuckle at the unworldliness of the girl.

    The Chinese government does make a hat tip to their founding mythology but being a practical people have long woken up to the fact that the Marxist/Leninist system imported from the West is not fit for purpose, so now call it ‘’Socialism with Chinese characteristics’’..in other words lets keep the Lada body but the running gear,suspension and electronics are all Lexus.

    As for China being a threat as is the current zeitgeist,it will not be from spreading international socialism as they do not believe in or practice it themselves,but a certain local mad queen once lead a group who believe such nonsense!

    And I agree with Brian about Western Marxist propaganda,it is more subtle and insidous.The poor woke saps brainwashed through the institutions and media actually believe in the cause.As Douglas Murray rightly calls it ‘’the new morality’’, this new woke religion is the future of the West.

  6. Police postpone latest intake to Police College.
    The latest intake of recruits into training college has been postponed by police, it comes after police stopped taking new applications due to the increase in the number of people expressing interest in June last year. Association President Chris Cahill said he had been told of the delay last week , he said police had made the decision in the last week of December.
    Meanwhile Chris Cahill said it is very important the police keep adding to its numbers while the rate of crime is increasing, and also made the statement police has the facilities to be able to continue training, but not just the money.

  10. Having the market dominated by monopolistic giants is not going to be good for innovation. This could decrease productivity in the long run. We’ll end up with a very few super-wealthy individuals controlling the markets that dictate the lives of the masses. This will be coupled with limitations on travel and the ability to speak one’s mind freely.

Commiserations to all NZ citizens who couldn’t come home because their MIQ places were taken by 5047 people with “other passports”. Big shout out to all those NZ parents and families, like mine, who were prevented from seeing their NZ-born and raised kids because MIQ was full of foreigners. Surely New Zealand citizens should be allowed entry before all others?

      • I wonder if masks are safe? What if they are releasing micro-fibers into your lungs? Might not the long-term effects be similar to that of another infamous fiber — asbestos?

        (On the other hand, mask-wearing has been a big thing in Japan for the last couple of decades, so if there really was a danger posed from Japanese-made masks, the authorities would know about it.) But then, what about Chinese-made masks? I would hope that they would be just as safe as Japanese ones…

If we are unable to address Muslim issues agreeably and cannot guarantee safety at all costs, perhaps we should re-address our immigration policies?
