thats not what i said.
if you want to add winston to the mix theres still higher chances hes pm and nzf finance minister aswell than chloe being finance minister.

pity act and labour are pretty much incompatible, a lab/nzf/act govt would shit over anything with nats in it. at least winston and seymour would run circles around useless labour and get alot more shit done instead of useless nats watering down anything good.

Many good comments plus more exposure of the devious deeper dialectical narrative of the Green base members & their ideology.
Particularly the 42 second clip, with the manifestos ready to be rolled out if & when they gain power.

Peter Bassett: When cycleways and rainbow toilets take over, the pipes rot
There are moments in public life when irony does not merely tap you on the shoulder but smacks you in the face with a dripping length of sewer pipe. One such moment arrived this week when Julie Anne Genter, Wellington’s most indefatigable apostle of cycleways, emerged solemnly to inform us that the Moa Point sewage disaster was “a terrible reminder of the importance of investing in our infrastructure”.

You could almost hear the violins tuning up.

This, remember, is the same Julie Anne Genter who has spent the better part of a decade arguing — loudly, piously, and with missionary zeal — that Wellington’s overriding problem is not pipes, pumps, or power, but the insufficiently enthusiastic application of green paint to roads. Now, standing amid the rhetorical effluent, she promises to “ask hard questions” once the immediate problem is fixed.

Lead photo. Just imagine putting a heap of the Maori food (KFC) down on the town side of the bridge. Could the bridge have with stood the weight of charging overweight horde of natives, intending to a free feed, then slam the gate and continue with Maori day, in peace and quiet. Mind you you would have to think of a cunning plan for the next year!

I heard on the radio news earlier the interim decision on the off shore mining application (off the Taranaki coast) was made because the environmental effects out weigh the economic benefits. My understanding is the company went through the Environment Court process a few years ago and was given a pass/approval. So does mean this panel can over ride the Environment Court or disregard their decision ?
What a shambles. Bishop ( I think the Fast Track stuff comes under his overview) has a mess to sort out that is bigger than Andrew Little has with the sewage issue in Wellington.

At Chez Nasska the opportunities for your correspondent, the CEO & Stuff to unanimously agree on an issue don’t occur often. When Stuff announced that it would be backing Water Safety NZ in its target to teach 10,000 Kiwi kids to swim we warmly welcomed the initiative. Especially as for years SWMBO was a volunteer swimming instructor.

It seems that they have been somewhat successful with funds raised sufficient to hopefully drownproof 6930 children to date.

sad that its come to stuffed needing to fundraise to do this type of thing.
parents should be farking responsible and teach their bloody kids or put them into lessons.
alot of school pools have disappeared aswell, when i was primary school pretty much every primary school had their own pool and taught the kids to swim, unheated sucked but still better than kids drowning.

my parents taught us basics, then got us into half a dozen lessons to get us confident, we could swim very well before even starting school. stupid boy used to go paua diving with my old man from age 7, by age 10 dad just used to send me in to get them and i started spear fishing.

we started our kids in the pool as babies, pretty much just drownproof type stuff. once a lil older tho they were right lil fuckers and refused to listen to mum n dad so we got them lessons about age 4.
i was super strict on them learning at least something very early on to give the lil things a chance if they accidentally got near water…. mrs sb was 8months pregnant with our first child when my best mates 2yr old boy tragically lost his life drowning on the farm 🙁 that shit fucking still haunts me.
in aussie theyre big on teaching babies/toddlers to drownproof, even if it only buys them a few extra breaths it could make all the difference.

several of our mates kids cannot swim at all! like theyll fucking drown if over their head and theyre betweem 6 and 19yrs old ffs, we fucked up and werent aware and invited a couple of them to the river a few years ago. mrs sb had to drag them out before they ended up dead in the willows… wont do that again, parents or kids didnt warn us they couldnt swim ffs.

anyways of all the wasted fucking money in this country it wouldnt be wasted if we ensured every kid could swim. that school lunches money would be far better off spent on teaching swimming, hungry kids are better than dead kids.

You’re onto it. Mrs Nasska was a keen sportswoman & could swim like a fish. There weren’t too many cups at her primary school or high school without her name on them. She qualified as a swimming instructor when she was about fourteen.

Because of this all three of our brats could do a couple of widths of the town baths before they were five.

If the money wasted on cultural shit was spent on swimming there’d be a shitload less drownings each year. As I recall every school in the 50s & 60s had its own pool & instruction was part of the syllabus. Then came the “experts” with their safety standards & mania for qualifications which made it impossible for small schools to keep their pools operational.

Things change & often only for the sake of change.

We used to call our primary school pool “the duck pond”. Small with cold water is all I remember.

We were lucky to have access to dad’s work pool. Beautiful. Every year I asked him to have the pool opened by my birthday in early November. Spending time at Whangamata beach or swimming up the harbour off the boat was great fun too. 😎

theyve jusy gotta hope and pray the greens and tpm do the heavy lifting for them and scare the shit outve the electorate.
itll all come down to winnie, i rekon labour will get more party vote than nats but greens and tpm wont get them to majority.
labour will sell whats left of their soul to bribe winnie, he’ll certainly use it to play nats/lab off against each other to get the best deal but i still dont know if he will risk going with labour again as it slaughtered the party last time and its gotta be close to winnies last hoorah and im sure he dosent want his legacy in tatters. unless hes given PM by labour i think he’ll still roll with nats but by fuck he’ll make them pay but they too will sell their soul to retain power.

its a possibility, it would only ever happen once tho as nats especially would get fucking slaughtered next election and likely never recover, labour probs not so much.

nats and labour are the most closely aligned parties in nz politics. only thing they really disagree with is handouts to business/landlords vs handouts to dero bene folk.
they both love the treaty, green/climate scam and both love indebting the country and blowing other peoples money like theres no tommorow.
which chris would be pm? or you rekon theyll take turn about like winnie and seymour have done with deputy pm?

HMM. Vance gets owned by Peters.

Andrea Vance says the continued use of X by politicians is a form of ‘tacit approval’ of the abuse material allegedly being made using Grok on the platform.
That statement is as unhinged as it is stupid.
She might want to first ask some questions about her own organisation Stuff who constantly quote and screenshot my ministerial X posts for use in their articles as recently as a few weeks ago. So is Stuff complicit and now ‘tacitly approving’ of X? Where is Vance’s article deep diving into Stuff reporters using X for news content? Or is it ‘rules for thee and no rules for me’.
Before she falls off her high-horse in righteous indignation, she also might like to do a quick google search about the main social media platforms that peddle sexual abuse material – don’t worry I’ve saved her the time:
Snapchat: Identified as a leading platform for child grooming and sexual communication.
Meta Platforms (Facebook and Instagram): Frequently cited in reports for both child sexual grooming and, in some cases, the facilitation of trafficking.
WhatsApp: Used for grooming and, because of its encrypted nature, as a platform for distributing illegal material.
The list goes on but ironically doesn’t include X as the front runner.
Is Vance going to boycott all of those platforms? Or is her article exactly what it smells like – her frothing at the mouth to take ‘allegations’ and ‘maybes’ to attack a so called ‘right wing’ platform she sits in the corner and seethes about.
The hypocrisy is palpable – but not surprising coming from a journalist who used to work at the morally corrupt News of the World media organisation.
PS
In her shallow article she waxes lyrical about the sexualisation of women by Grok putting women in bikinis – then she proceeds to use a photo made by Grok of Elon Musk…in a bikini. Riddle me that.
Wouldn’t surprise me if she reads this on my X post…

some of the epstein files stuff is getting pretty wild….
“jerky” is a common codeword used and they now believe or at least speculate its code for human flesh, child flesh in particular.
what the actual fuck, some emails state theyll “walk the jerky over” then others the “jerky is bagged in the fridge” then he demands a “6-8oz jerky steak for dinner” and then he announces he “will be returning to a regular diet and wont be requiring as much jerky from now on”.

it could well be code for drugs or simply pimping bitches but other emails are blatant and uncoded so it makes one wonder why bother using codewords all of a sudden, very suss but who fucking knows wtf jerky actually ment but in the context of the emails it certainly did sound like meal prep of some sort…. one even mentions a new recipe from a restaurant referred to as “cannibal and cook”

even if it was human flesh and its proven, still aint one pos going to jail over it is there.

THE VIEW IS UNDER FEDERAL INVESTIGATION!

The FCC just launched an investigation into ABC’s The View.

And no, it’s not because someone said something false…surprisingly.
It’s because they may have broken federal law.

Specifically, the Equal Time Rule.

Here’s the simple version, for those of us who didn’t attend law school.

The Equal Time Rule says that if a broadcast network gives airtime to one political candidate, it has to offer the same opportunity to their opponents.

Why?

Becuase Broadcast airwaves are public property.

Not owned by ABC.
Not owned by Disney.
Not owned by a gaggle of daytime political activists pretending to be TV stars.

They belong to the American people.

The rule exists to stop networks from quietly turning into campaign headquarters while claiming they’re just “having conversations.”

Now here’s where The View messed up.

They brought on a Democrat candidate.

They actually brought on two!

James Talarico and Jasmine Crockett, both of whom are DEMOCRATS running for Senate inTexas.

They let them talk politics.
They let them promote his ideas.
They let them enjoy a convo with girlfriends, no pressure or accountability!

Just political promotion on a nationally broadcast show.

Here’s the bad part: They did not offer equal time to the opposing candidates.

For decades, networks hid behind a loophole called the “bona fide news” exemption.
Basically saying, “Don’t worry, this is journalism.”

But here’s the truth.

The View is not a news program.

It’s an opinion show.
An entertainment show.
A commentary circus with mugs.

And when you cross the line from commentary into campaigning, the law kicks in.

That’s why the FCC is looking at this now.

This isn’t censorship.
It’s accountability.

You don’t get to use public airwaves to help one party while locking the door on the other.

You don’t get to be activists on Monday and journalists on Tuesday.

Pick a lane.

Because if the rules only apply to some people, they’re not rules anymore.
They’re weapons.

And for the first time in a long time, someone is actually enforcing them.

Here’s the real question.

If The View wants to act like a political show, should it be treated like one?

I believe the answer you’re looking for is…HECK YEAH!

What are your thoughts?

What are our rules?

Ken Ring – Long Range Forecaster

Less than 19 weeks to act
The luxury of an air of complacency in civil defence and emergency services, generally follows a bout of severe weather conditions. However, we do not think that that is a good idea this time, because much more rain is coming that may result in more flooding of those areas already affected.
While council members take their time shuffling their papers and conducting endless commissions of enquiry over whether or not the conditions that made for the slips and floods, could have been prevented and saved lives, are completely unaware that Mother Nature is getting ready to unleash a whole new set of extremes that councils will have had no time to prepare against.
It is no good arguing about whether or not the current weather is due to mad-made environmental change, or whether the forces were natural. In July and August there are rains expected that I think will rival those in January. That leaves less than 19 weeks to prepare the next lot, hardly time for floods in many places to have gone back to normal.
The weather does not wait for humans to decide what happened last time and does not care to hear the excuses for a meaner payout by insurance companies, forgetful of why they were established in the first place, but which are now self-protective businesses, arguably at war with their customer base.
Perhaps in a fairer governed society, all such companies, which all earn more money from new disasters as an excuse to raise premiums, should not, by law, have shareholders, and would function better as public co-operatives, being seen to just break even. They perhaps could be more fairly run by charities.
It is time perhaps to take matters into one’s own hands, and maybe put investment previously set aside (for paying ever-higher premiums), into brick-and-mortar solid reconstruction, and longer lasting infrastructure that will withstand many future floods, like your ancestors did. This may force a restructuring of these companies and a willingness to work WITH farmers instead of against them.
What is coming? 2026 will be a year to remember as very wet in places, especially the north. Heavy rain is due in both islands in the first half of March, see p345 of the 2026 NZ Weather Almanac, in the North Island in April and May, and record falls in August. July, August and September are wet for the South Island. The nearly-400-page book is available from the website http://www.predictweather.com.
This is a time for action, not waiting. Do not leave it up to the govt-run authorities to make amends. Small communities should form or threaten to form, their own community-owned insurance co-operatives. My prediction is that this may encourage premiums with existing companies to plunge.
