  1. I’m taking bets on when Drunken Garner’s clown show will do away with using “New Zealand” in favor of “Gayotearoa” ? I’d say less than 2 months and itll be pushed by the “talk us through how it feels” Bint, Gillies.

  2. New Zealand is being sold an hallucinogenic about being able to deradicalize a pious, devoted muslim.
    .
….. Jonathan Hall QC, the UK’s independent reviewer of terrorism legislation, said there was “no magic bullet or special pill” that could help to change convicted extremists. …..
…arguing that deradicalisation programmes do not work …..
…… the public should be under “no illusion” that they would be effective. …..
….. no special pill you can take that deradicalises people, whether they’re coming back from overseas from Syria …..
    .
…. if you didn’t try, it would be throwing away all hope, …..
…. some who will change, but you should be under no illusions. It is not some automatic process. And in many cases it simply won’t work. …..

    .
Sure she is not convicted of terrorism, but she was an adult, 19 years old when she decided to go to Syria.
She would have known what the Australian government views of ISIS was, as one would have had to be devious. to go there.
    .
So who will look after the children in New Zealand?
Just ask them how real was their “soccer ball” practice.
Meritless inclusive diversity of muslims? ….. yeah right. ….

  3. Meanwhile out in the world.
Aim of Impeachment Was to Paint All Trump Voters as Criminals: Rep. Mike Johnson

Rep. Mike Johnson (R-La.) says Democrats used the impeachment of former President Donald Trump as a tool to paint all of his supporters with the brush of Capitol breach-related criminality.

Johnson told Breitbart News in an interview on Feb. 14 that the ultimate aim of impeaching Trump a second time was to associate the 75 million Americans who voted for him with those individuals who on Jan. 6 broke the law.

So comparingTHE DEMS WITH THE CCP IS THERE ANY DIFFERENCE IN THEIR AGENDA’S

NEW DELHI—Propelled by its geostrategic ambitions, China is silently but potently expediting a policy of unrestricted warfare in Kashmir, a region that stands witness to decades of conflict and territory disputes between India and Pakistan, according to an expert on Kashmir.

“I will say the Chinese have a much more sinister, deeper, and larger agenda in Kashmir, rooted in its larger regional and global geostrategic ambitions,” Abhinav Pandya, CEO of Usanas Foundation, an India-based geopolitical think tank, told The Epoch Times in an exclusive interview on Feb. 8.

    https://www.theepochtimes.com/chinese-have-a-much-more-sinister-deeper-and-larger-agenda-in-kashmir-expert_3695328.html?utm_source=morningbriefnoe&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=mb-2021-02-16

“I mean, they want to keep India busy in Kashmir and establish their firm control over the oceans, where they are vulnerable as 60 percent of their oil supplies pass through Malacca straits.”

The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) notes that 80 percent of the global trade by volume and 60 percent by value goes by sea, and 60 percent of this passes through the Strait of Malacca.

India has greater control over the trade passing through the Strait of Malacca because the trade route from the strait leads to India’s maritime boundary and Pandya said since India has the ability to choke this point, the Chinese are creating an alternate route through the Belt and Road Initiative.

  5. France constantly protecting President Macron through their bought media.
But some find a way to publish more freely, though I think “self censorship” will still be there.

Just consider the truth of Marine Le Pen’s point to a journalist with showing undeniable photos of what ISIS was doing in Syria.
So the judiciary waging a court case against Macron’s major opponent Marine Le Pen.
    .
… French philosopher Michel Onfray is sometimes described in his home country as a “left-wing Zemmour” ….
…. saying that “many troublesome intellectuals are being ousted.
For example, I was myself kicked out of [public radio station] France Culture because I made Emmanuel Macron uncomfortable.
Many newspapers that are subsidized by public money hold an ideological discourse in which there is not much room for freedom and intelligence. …..
…. that operate with public money, which are totally ideological media, freedom is non-existent. …
    .
….. In June 2020, Onfray launched the quarterly review Front Populaire, which describes itself as the review of “sovereignists from the right, the left and, above all, elsewhere —
namely, those who do not recognize themselves in the bipolarized, and therefore Manichean, political game”.
In September, the launch of the magazine was hailed a “great editorial success”

    https://rmx.news/article/article/freedom-ceased-to-exist-in-france-a-long-time-ago-says-french-left-wing-philosopher-michel-onfray

Though Ed is not quite up to Zemmour or Onfray standards, 🙂 Ed is still extremely high & tops on the “freedom” stakes in NZ.
    Thank you,
Many battles to come in NZ.

  6. The Greens remain the arseholes they always were. New tax sneaked in while no one except Preeble was watching.
Where were the Nats? Usless bastards.

While we are focused on another lockdown the Government is sneaking in a great, big, new tax.

I would have missed it except I was watching the parliamentary channel. I saw the Green co-leader James Shaw under urgency introduce the Climate Change Response (Auction Price) Amendment Bill. “It is a technical” amendment he said.

It turns the emissions trading scheme (ETS) into a revenue-raising tax.

Governments are addicted to tax. Government expenditure rises to exceed revenue. Once a new tax is imposed, no matter how damaging, governments find it very hard to remove the tax.

The coalition had already rigged the emissions market. Now it is a tax-gathering rort.

  8. I was driving down the new QE2 drive extension in Christchurch yesterday, which is a 2×2 carriageway. Anyhoo I passed a Men at Work ute parked on the side of the road with one person sitting in it, a large flashing sign sitting in the back. ‘Warning workers up ahead’ sort of thing. All good.
Get up around the corner, another ute with a similar sign but bigger..flashing same sort of message. Another person sitting in the ute (playing on their phone). Up ahead in the distance I see a large truck with a massive flashing arrow pointing me to the right hand lane, which I duly moved to. I note another drive sitting in said truck. Infront of this large truck was a small sucker truck removing shit from the roadside drain. Then, in front of the sucker truck was another Men at Work truck with large pulsating strobe type flashy light..and another person sitting inside. So, excluding the sucker truck we have 4 vehicles as ‘traffic safety management’, thats 4 vehicles and 4 drivers at around $200p/h each. 4 hours =$3200 plus gst. It should have cost around $800 plus gst as the only trucked needed was the one pointing out the lane change movement to the right. The remaining safety vehicles were just a massive overkill. No fucking wonder our rates and taxes are sooooo high.

    • Welcome to communist employment in NZ… everyone paid by the taxpayer / ratepayer while not producing anything productive. The trucks with flashing lights are part of the ‘kabuki’ theatre from our self-important masters to show the masses how necessary they are.

    • MH
There is that layer of cost.

But what is not so visible is all the admin.

These are contractors that so the akshull work .
      In many cases sub- contractors

So Council has a job to do .
      They advertise
      Negotiate. No work done yet.
When the job is finally allocated there are contracts.
The job will have project manager.
That project manager has a program manger who oversees multiple projects.
Others have their oar in the water.

Every time there is a change -like a lockdown that affects deadlines and possible penalties – everyone gets ‘on board’ to ‘touch base’ and ‘renegotiate’ etc etc etc.

If there is anything done wrong on the job then the contracting party cannot just tell them to ‘go fix it’.
They have to prove where there is an unapproved variation.
Was it defined properly at the start.
      Schedule a remedy.
Define who bares what proportion of cost.
      blah blah

My sister decades ago did a Hort degree and had to do 70 weeks practical.
She did this with a Council.
As she said, if there was a problem , the boss comes in, tells the staff and they go an fix it.
      No longer.
And people said Council were inefficient then.

There was a case in 2004/2005 with the new bus lanes in Auckland .
The Contractor did not put up the signs ‘as per spec’
Not a simple case of just fixing it.
The Council had to ‘negotiate’ with the contractor to amend.
      This took 18 months.
Meantime the council could not legally collect revenue on bus lane infringers for 18 months

The cost layers now are extraordinary and why NZ is expensive for anything.
      This was on Notional.
The ones who said, and said, and said they would get rid of the RMA – that they championed and passed in 1991.
This was an over-reaction to Pike River.
      Thanks Johnny boy.

Now you want to paint your house you need scaffolding up the wazoo.
Watch for a deterioration in house quality as houses rot where a $5000 job became $12,000

      • I wanted a contractor to get on the roof of one of my 2 story rentals to spray the lichen. “Sorry mate, we dont do that sort of work anymore, nor do we clean out spouting..H&S rules and blah make it uneconomical”
So I went down to Bunnings, grabbed a 5 litre pail of fuck off lichen concentrate, chucked it in the weedsprayer, climbed up onto the roof..bingo done in 30 minutes. I was so wanting a clipboard carrying hi viz HSE nazi to waltz on past. Heh.

  9. So, for a government who couldn’t deliver a letter, this one is going to doubly complicate it’s vaccine rollout by having a separate rollout plan for one demographic of the population. If they can do this for Maori, why not Pacific Islanders? Why not everyone who lives in Sth Auckland? Racists.

A specific vaccination rollout plan for Māori will focus on giving them confidence in receiving the vaccine, Minister for the Covid-19 Response Chris Hipkins says.

  10. After criticism over the reliability of Covid-19 death statistics, here’s one that’s 100 percent accurate.

Statistically, more Kiwis under 49 years of age have died wearing stockings & suspenders while sucking an orange, a bin liner on their heads with a gerbil stuffed up their arse & the lead of a Russell Hobbs kettle round their neck than through Coronavirus.

    • He’s our local MP & seems straight up. He worked as a rural fencer to finance his studies so unlike most of his Labour mates, he’s actually walked on a farm.

He worked hard to take the Wairarapa seat although he was aided & abetted greatly by the carpetbagging arsehole National stood for the last couple of terms.

His politics are not my politics but since we’re going to have a Labour MP I prefer him to anyone else on offer.

  14. Judith Collins defends Australia’s move to dump terrorist problem on New Zealand
    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2021/02/judith-collins-defends-australia-s-move-to-dump-terrorist-problem-on-new-zealand.html

Collins told The AM Show on Wednesday it was a “tough call”, but New Zealand should have done it first.

“Obviously New Zealand has to look after New Zealand’s position, and unfortunately the Australians have moved faster by revoking the citizenship of this jihadi woman. The main thing to understand is that the Australians are going to play for keeps, and perhaps New Zealand should too.”

The main difference is one can be used to threaten a population that has low critical-thinking skills, low average cognitive ability and a high degree of trust of authority.

      • The chimneys cleaned.
Get your firewood in. keep it dry.
Sacks of coal if you can.
        Bottles of gas.
Now are we sure it will be a very cold winter?
        – – – – – – – – – – –
It’s late Autumn and the Indians on a remote reservation in North Dakota have asked their new Chief if the coming winter is going to be cold or mild.

Since he was a modern-day Chief he’d never actually been taught the old indian ways or their secrets, so when he looked at the sky, he just couldn’t tell what the winter weather was going to be like.
Nevertheless, in order not to disappoint the tribe and to be on the safe side, he told them that the winter was indeed going to be cold and that they should collect firewood and be prepared.

However, being a practical leader, after several days, he got an idea.
He went to the phone booth, called the National Weather Service and asked, “Is the coming winter going to be cold?”

“It looks like this winter is going to be quite cold” they responded.
So the Chief went back to his people and told them to collect even more firewood in order to be better prepared.
A week later, he called the National Weather Service again, “Does it still look like it is going to be a very cold winter?”

“Yes”, replied the man at National Weather Service this time, even more certain,“it’s going to be a very, very cold winter.”

So the Chief went back to his people once again and ordered them to collect every scrap of firewood they could lay their hands on.

Two weeks later, worried about the mountains of wood and the hard work the tribe was putting in collecting it, the chief called the National Weather Service just to be absolutely sure.”Are you definitely sure that the winter is going to be very cold?”

“Absolutely”, the weatherman said, “It’s looking more and more like it’s going to be one of the coldest winters on record.”

“But how can you be so certain?” the chief asked. “Well, for a start” the weatherman replied, “the Indians are collecting a shed-load of firewood.”

      • I have said it before and I’ll say it again. the Earth is long overdue for it’s next ice age. One day in the not to distant future, the norther hemisphere countries will endure snowstorms that will not stop. The planet will heat up,(happening now) then it will reach a tipping point ( any time soon) and the place will be plunged into the next ice age.

“Wiremu Keepa had no idea why he kept blacking out. It was only after the 68-year-old crashed his car and was being treated for injuries that the reason was revealed – he had a serious heart condition that almost ended his life.”

    Let’s look at the facts.
This guy keeps on blacking out. He doesn’t know why.

If you were him, what would you do?
    a. Remain puzzled, but continue your normal life, including driving your car.
    b. Remain puzzled, generally continue your normal life, but take steps to reduce risk such as not driving.
    c. Talk to your friends and family about what you should do.
    d. Immediately see your doctor.

What did this guy do? (Choose a, b, c or d from the list above.)

It appears his heart condition was discovered while being treated for his car accident injuries. It is possible that he never mentioned his blackouts to the medical staff out of embarrassment and a cultural phobia of mental illness.

Meantime, activists claim that poorer (_insert name of oppressed minority_) health outcomes are the result of “systemic racism in the heath-care field” (despite a significant proportion of healthcare people being compassionate types who want to put the world right). I am sure that these health professionals see cases like this one far more frequently than is necessary.

    10

    0

    • I saw the chappy from Heart Foundation being interviewed this AM. It was going good and In was all for making a donation on-line. Then he was asked, “how much do they normally take in their street appeal”. His reply was “he didn’t know”
It was at this stage that he lost my donation. If he can come on TV, lie about not knowing this basic information, what else is he lying about?

      10

      0

    • I am sure that these health professionals see cases like this one far more frequently than is necessary.

Do those health professionals play dumb because.
1)Speaking out will be challenged in a mindless way? like privilege, etc..
      2) Self censure what they observe as being contrary to what is now called the current orthodoxy?
      3) Fear of being doxxed, career wise?
      4) Do not want to lose funding for the organisation they work for?
      5) The higher management have regulations, a stasis, that are time consuming, to stymie anybody or anything going to public discussion.
      6) Management ignore any report any way.

      7

      0

      • Do health professionals really want people to be healthier?

The sicker people are, the greater the role of health professionals in society. (Note: a sicker society may just be an aging society, as a consequence of aging boomers and a falling birth rate. Older people tend to be less well than younger people.)

As long as a health professional doesn’t offend anyone, they have a job for life. This means that they will keep their mouths shut, particularly if they are an intelligent member of the “oppressor class.”

    • O’sen@1356

As one who went in to the local hospital for a seemingly innocuous test for ‘an intermittent but annoying pain’ and came out 18 days later after a quadruple bypass heart operation, I can assure you that it is definitely possible to be unaware of a serious heart condition ( especially if you perceive yourself as being ‘healthy’), although in the instance you describe the blacking out should have been definitely investigated. Perhaps he couldn’t afford a Doctor? ( A not uncommon occurance).

I have long been of the opinion that the old labels Left and Right are outdated and that the new enemy of conservative liberty-loving people is those who would deny us the freedom to live our lives without being subjected to tyranny. In this regard I have mentioned Chris Trotter’s name on this blog as a ‘leftie’ who illustrates this perfectly.

Chris has written a really good critique of wokeism and its dangers here, titled ‘The Woke Supremacy’:

    https://thedailyblog.co.nz/2021/02/04/the-woke-supremacy/

(The) de-platforming of dissenters by the woke media – often facilitated by threats from major corporate advertisers to withdraw their financial support – will complicate the mobilisation of wokeism’s opponents, but it will not prevent it. Inevitably, the sheer number of New Zealanders shut out of the wokeist discourse will persuade conservative investors to offer them a Fox News-like outlet for traditional views and values.

    and this:

Who will take on the right-wing populist mantle of Muldoon and Peters? Certainly, National’s Judith Collins and Act’s David Seymour would like to, but are they temperamentally suited to the role? Do they have the necessary slivers of ice-cold steel driven deep enough into their souls? Are they able to deploy the sort of cruel humour that lacerates their opponents’ self-confidence? Can they make people laugh at their vicious jokes in spite of themselves? It is certainly very difficult to imagine either Collins or Seymour successfully delivering Muldoon’s brutally funny quip: “I have seen the shivers running around Bill Rowling’s back, looking for a spine to crawl up!”

Here is a man who understands what is going on and, even though he sees the world from a different viewpoint to us conservatives on many issues he is certainly IMHO a friend rather than an enemy. I get the feeling that if I was in the same room as this guy we could have a rational conversation and we would find a lot of common ground.

  23. Just been talking to a mate that was put in to receivership about 10 years ago.
He has been putting a case together to go to court and next week he is finally there. The bank fought all the way ,blocking access to information etc .He has even found a document which appears to have a forged siganature.
The bank cannot explain why he was put in to receivership and with discovery and a PI they have put together one hell of a case against the bank.
Fingers crossed for him as it has screwed his life.

    • And yet Biden wasn’t president when a lot of the wind turbines were installed, trump was.

      https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-02-16/frozen-wind-farms-were-just-a-small-piece-of-texas-s-power-woes

While ice has forced some turbines to shut down just as a brutal cold wave drives record electricity demand, that’s been the least significant factor in the blackouts, according to Dan Woodfin, a senior director for the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, which operates the state’s power grid.

The main factors: Frozen instruments at natural gas, coal and even nuclear facilities, as well as limited supplies of natural gas, he said. “Natural gas pressure” in particular is one reason power is coming back slower than expected Tuesday, added Woodfin.

“We’ve had some issues with pretty much every kind of generating capacity in the course of this multi-day event,” he said.

      • Probably another Federal tap that Trump was not able to turn off.
And you are right that not under Biden, but Biden was Vice President for 8 previous years.

Since 2008, wind energy in the U.S. has more than tripled, and wind power accounted for 31% of all new generation capacity brought online from 2008-2014.
And last year, as part of the budget deal, President Obama secured a five-year extension tax credits for wind and solar, which will spur an additional 100 GW of new wind and solar in the coming years.
That’s more than double the amount in operation today.

        https://obamawhitehouse.archives.gov/blog/2016/09/09/offshore-wind-industry-has-wind-their-back

So the rush was on to take advantage of the subsidies.
Though in this article a note of caution back in 2019

….. Taxpayers and consumers are currently paying more than $2 billion annually to renewable energy companies operating in Texas.
And with the threat that eligibility for the biggest renewable subsidy, the federal Production Tax Credit (PTC), might expire at the end of the year, there is a mad rush by renewable companies—many of which are multibillion-dollar, multinational conglomerates—to take even more of our money from us through the largess of our local, state, and federal governments. …..
….. companies seeking local tax abatements from counties, school districts, hospital districts, etc. across the state. A total of 34 projects in 27 counties want taxpayers to subsidize their businesses so they can make more profits. And with each of these projects likely to produce fewer than 10 permanent jobs each, there isn’t anything in it for county residents. …..

Lobbyists to governments know how to twist a nice dollar out of the systems. though many of these ideals have been formulated through the decades, and politicians keep topping them up.

incentives have come in the form of production or installation tax credits, grants, and renewable portfolio standards, at the federal, state, and local levels of government.
        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_wind_energy_policy

I am not opposed to wind power, but there is no easily transparent evaluation, responsibility and accountability.
Only an assured top up by government, and as Biden has played, 2 trillions dollars up for grabs.
        https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-election-biden/biden-climate-plan-would-spend-2-trillion-in-bid-to-boost-economy-idINKCN24F202
Will this money, the priorities, really be evaluated? accounted for?

Biden openly now supports and widens the “Green Deal”.

….. Signed yesterday, Biden’s presidential executive order could boost the level of federal leases for offshore wind from the current 21GW to 41GW, experts say. ….
….. In his speech, Biden outlined the merits of his administration’s plan for the country to see 100% green electricity supplied to the grid by 2035 (up from 38% at present) and to reach net-zero emissions by 2050. ……

Bill Gates warns stopping climate change will be ‘hardest thing humanity has ever done’

Billionaire philanthropist Bill Gates has warned the death rate from climate change will be five times worse than COVID-19 if emissions aren’t curbed.

During an interview with Australian network ABC on Tuesday, Gates said getting the world to carbon-zero by 2050 would be “the hardest thing humanity has ever done”, but if we don’t, we risk “a death rate five times as high as the peak of this pandemic every year”.

Jacinda Ardern said earlier this week border workers were “being isolated from their usual community groups and activities because it’s known that they are in the border workforce”, and even their children have been targeted.

The curfew must be lifted immediately. The court in The Hague determined this in a case brought by the Virus Truth foundation. The measure was taken on the wrong grounds, the judge ruled.
According to the preliminary relief judge, the curfew is a far-reaching violation of the right to freedom of movement and privacy. This requires very careful decision-making, the judge ruled.

Iwi are trying to stop Whakatane District Council granting consent for a residential subdivision next to the ancient coastal urupa Opihi Whanaungakore, which is still in use today.

Ngati Awa kaumatua Maanu Paul said the proposed development undermined hapu mana whenua, threatened its whakapapa and would destroy its rangatiratanga.

The council sold the land for subdivision for almost $8 million in 2017 with an agreement that 10 of the 40 hectares of the Opihi Block on Bunyan Rd would be reserved for a retirement village.

  31. I’ll tell you miss green person the best thing that you can do for poverty in New Zealand. Reduce the cost of living, not increase it with more taxes. Reduce the taxes on petrol. Stop trying to bring in new climate change taxes, don’t force people who can’t afford an electric car to buy one. Tell councils to stop wasting money and return to their core businesses and in doing so reduce rates. New Zealand has poverty because it is too expensive to live in New Zealand because of government and local costs.

    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2021/02/child-poverty-inequality-at-unacceptable-levels-wealth-tax-crucial-to-improving-outcomes-green-party.html

The Green Party says child poverty and inequality in New Zealand is at “unacceptable” levels – and a wealth tax is vital to stop Kiwis from falling through the cracks.

On Tuesday a new report from the Salvation Army showed there was a “rapid increase” of children living in benefit-dependent households in 2020 – up by 23,000 – a sign child poverty rates could increase, rather than decline.

  34. https://sorendreier.com/official-data-on-adverse-reactions-to-covid-vaccines-released/

The UK Government have released a report highlighting adverse reactions to both the Pfizer and Oxford / Astrazeneca vaccines that have occurred since the rollout began on the 8th December and it does not make for pleasant reading.

The report has collated data inputted up to the 24th January 2021 via the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme. At this point an estimated 5.4 million first doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine and 1.5 million doses of the Oxford University/AstraZeneca vaccine had been administered, and around 0.5 million second doses, mostly the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine, had been administered.

But as predicted, with the rise in vaccines administered came a rise in adverse reactions with 49,472 reported reactions to the Pfizer vaccine and 21,032 reactions to the Oxford / Astrazeneca vaccine. For both vaccines this equates to 1 in every 333 people suffering an adverse reaction. This rate could actually be higher as some cases may have not been reported to the Yellow Card Scheme.

  37. Tax payers Union.

    Dear Supporter,
Taxpayer-funded play about COVID-19 is propaganda
Teasers for a new play about New Zealand’s COVID-19 response suggest it will be nothing more than taxpayer-funded propaganda.
The play, named “Transmission”, received a $57,000 grant from Creative NZ taxpayers, and according to its co-director Miranda Harcourt:
It is a verbatim stage-show drawn from our interviews with NZ Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, Finance Minister Grant Robertson & leading epidemiologist Michael Baker around last year’s decision to lock down NZ in response to Covid-19 & its targeted elimination. It is a behind the scenes glimpse into how these remarkable people were thinking and feeling at the time. And into the life events that have shaped them as leaders.
    What an embarrassment.
We say New Zealand’s playwrights are welcome to produce obsequious propaganda, but taxpayers shouldn’t be forced to fund it. This stinks of a state-supported cult of personality that you’d expect in Kazakhstan or North Korea, not an egalitarian society like New Zealand.

Creative NZ has form for this. It has previously handed out grants to commission poems on Newsroom attacking centre-right politicians, and opinion pieces on soft-socialist blogsite The Spinoff agitating for the Government’s Māori wards legislation. We’re yet to see Creative NZ fund a single project that doesn’t fit their politically-correct, Wellington-centric, left-wing world view.

The study participant in late-stage testing reported symptoms consistent with transverse myelitis, a rare inflammation of the spinal cord, said company spokesman Matthew Kent.

On Tuesday, AstraZeneca said its “standard review process triggered a pause to vaccination to allow review of safety data.” It did not provide any details other than to say a single participant had an “unexplained illness.” The vaccine was initially developed by Oxford University after the coronavirus pandemic began this year.
