  1. A bit pricey for me, but good on them for standing firm.

a spokesperson from Hyatt Hotels provided them with the following statement by email:
“We take pride in operating a highly inclusive environment and we believe that the facilitation of gatherings is a central element of what we do as a hospitality company.”
“We believe in the right of individuals and organizations to peacefully express their views, independent of the degree to which the perspectives of those hosting meetings and events at our hotels align with ours.”
“Our own values support a culture that is characterized by empathy, respect and diversity of opinions and backgrounds, and we strive to bring this to light through what we do and how we engage with those in our care.”

  3. Why do they have checkpoints going in to Auckland? It’s obvious the people coming in have been away for the weekend and are just returning home. Highway one was crowded heading south as usual yesterday arvo and I hear things came to a grinding halt about Te Hana. Do they ever think before they make decisions? Probably a silly question.

    • Coz
      -This is a totalitarian State
-The M O H is full of pen pushing control freaks who could not make it as a real Doctor.
-the Stasi love restricting your freedom and freedom of movement while making decent people suffer.
Sometimes they need a break from playing guitar to criminals and take time out to harass decent citizens who did not wrong for shits and giggles
-The most homo Govt in the world likes to punish the whole country from Kaitaia to Nightcaps for something a South Auckland darkie did (break the covenant, no enforcement ). We know it is a darkie because if white would have be named and shamed or at least opprobrium dished out.
-there is no official opposition to the Molesworth control freaks in this one party state – now we know how the whites in Rhodesia/Zimbabwe feel.

      Take your pick.

    • How many portable toilets did the coppers supply along the 30-40 km stretch to their lair?
Accounts of many people psiing and shitting on the grass roadsides. The place will be full of flies and stick like a shithouse.
Danger money for the lawn mowing men would be appropriate.
7 hours Raglan to Auckland with a car full of young ladies.
      Stories a plenty.

      Waht a disgrace this lousy
      govt really is.

  4. COVID-19: blame and fear for team of 5 million as Prime Minister pleads for compliance.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has pointed to personal failures of a few and stoked the fear of death by Covid, “Covid kills people…..we must never lose sight of the reasons we take these measures.”

    https://i.stuff.co.nz/national/politics/124387831/covid19-blame-and-fear-for-the-team-of-five-million-as-pm-pleads-for-compliance
So the blame games startand because our amazing balls Prime Minister can’t blame National for this like she does with all other problems she faces its now blame a 21 year old and others for a problem she initiated with continual lockdowns at every whim to scare the living daylights out of the older people of New Zealand and strengthen her grip on power in this Country.

    20

    • The way it reads the lockdown had already been initiated before the 21yr old got tested and went to the gym.
Cindy can go fuck herself, she cant accept any blame or responsibility for her endless failings so its abit rich to start blaming joe public for just living life like normal.

    • Why does our Melbourne Cup winner have to remind people how deadly COVID is when all those infected are dropping dead on the streets of South Auckland and police are kicking down doors all over Gayotearoa finding entire families dead?

Remember all the bodies they found recently in Papatoetoe!!!

You know the COVID Plague of 2020-21 is like the Antonine Plague of AD 165-80, the Black Death of 1346-53 and the Great Plague of London 1665! And the Influencer Pandemic of 1918-1919!!!

And how lucky we are to have Dr Ashley Bloomfield and the Pink Lady!!!

    • More people have died on motor bikes this year than of covd.
The measles is 10 times more infective than covid and its more infective before you know you have it.
Have we locked down the country because of measels or are we suffering these lockdowns because of the fuck up Ashley made of the measels vacine.
Either way he needs to bugger off and stay at home. He is out of touch with reality.

You can always tell when some one gets the wages paid every week with optu owning a business.
They have no regard for any business nor the needs a business has to pay things other than wages. The wage subsidy doesn’t pay all the wages and neither does it pay any of the fixed costs.

But why would we expect cindy and Grant to even begin to understand that.
      Making NZ poor again.

Why not put the tax instead onto epidemiologists and plague modellers who falsely claimed to be able to defeat a virus by fucking an economy using Government DIKTAT and TYRANNY backed up by POLICE FORCE.

  8. A man goes to see the doctor complaining he has an orange cock. The doctor asks him to flop it out so he can have a look to see what the trouble is. The man duly gets his cock out for the doctor & sure enough, it’s bright orange. The doctor is amazed by this & tells the man he has never seen anything like it before then asks him when he last had had sex?

“Never,” says the man, “I”m a virgin & live on my own”.

“Does anyone else in your family have this affliction?” asks the doc.

“Not that I’m aware of” replies the man.

“Do you work with any strong chemicals?” queries the doctor.

“No, I’m unemployed” states the man.”

Really,” says the doctor, “what do you do all day, then?”

“I sit at home watching porn films & eating Cheezels.”

Now I’m in Wellington. My hate for this toxic shithole is complete. It is the worst place, with the worst people, I have ever encountered.

  12. Maybe some good will come out of this COVID-19 experience. People will become more likely to stay at home when sick, they will wear masks to suppress the spread of bugs, they will wash their hands more. These changes alone could really help people stay healthier.

On the other hand, if you keep the infirm and aged living longer, their quality of life may not necessarily improve, and they will be a burden on society for longer. Brutally speaking, you want a society where the productive can remain productive longer, but the unproductive do not stick around. (Then again, who defines “productive” and who has the authority to decide who lives and who dies?)

      • Yeah I take a PLB. But I’ve just got this whizz-bang InReach GPS as well. I can make emergency texts on it, or just normal text. Can even set it to tracking, and Mrs Saggy can sit at home and track me on a map – sends satellite signal every 10 mins. So if can’t get to PLB for some reason, last location still transmitting. Bit hungry on juice if transmitting. Only thing I don’t like about it, is it’s rechargeable. Can’t just take batteries.

  13. What proportion of the population are happy to comply with the government’s lockdown decrees?
I think the proportion is decreasing, especially among all those people forced to stop at checkpoint bottlenecks over the weekend.

There is a way out for the government.
    – Order the labs to reduce the number of PCR cycles to below 20.
    – Role out a “vaccine”
    – Order the media to report deaths as “flu complications” and not (under any circumstances) to use the “C” word

The public are not stupid, and will realize that the government simply wants things to return to normal (economically).

Will the government take this way out? Or is it too addicted to the morphine of power?
BTW, with this latest lockdown announced on Saturday night, what economic bad news was it timed to overshadow? (I bet there was a massive job-loss or plant closure somewhere, and this Covid lockdown very conveniently distracted the media from it (right on cue).

  17. I’ve just met the wife of a friend in the street out walking. At first she seemed to be trying to walk around me so as not to catch some terrible disease, but then when we started to exchange pleasantries (“how are you?” etc) and I said “I’m thoroughly hacked off with this lockdown bullshit, how ’bout you?”

Well. She backed away like I had waved a gun in her face and she started on with the by-now well used Labour Party propaganda response “What about the UK and America? Look at the terrible way the virus is affecting them. You don’t want us to be like THAT, do you?” etc etc.

When I pointed out that this latest piece of totalitarian control was sparked by two people in Papatoetoe who like 99.5% of everyone who is ‘infected’ probably didn’t even know they had it, the conversation abruptly stopped. She just turned and walked away from me. Discussion over.

This is an otherwise intelligent woman in her 60s who has been a professional/managerial type all her working life. She’s probably got a degree from way back when universities were genuine higher education establishments. And she and her husband are pretty well off having been successful (and good on them) in life.

What has happened to our society? Probably 80 to 90% of our population think like this and they are more than happy to be denied their civil rights and have their businesses, their social structures and their personal freedoms taken away from them willy-nilly without warning at ANY TIME!

Sometimes I feel like I’m living in some sort of alternate reality. Maybe I’ve gone mad?

    • Hell. 700 university critters lose their jobs.
I call that a good start.

If these were for ‘overseas students’ then the uni people were simply fall guys/ fall girls/ fall [other gender or any of 70 genders as you see fit] for a gravy train.

They were a platform for NZ passports via the back door.
When these people got passports they brought in family – avg 14 per person.

This has led to the massive house price inflation (combined with Councils getting jizzied up over fag parades and prancer and dancer floats instead of getting houses and roading built)

This will do more to curb house price rises than anything Adrian Orr does.

      More please.
When you look at the state of NZ universities now- Baker, Hendy, Pink hair, Massey in its entirety, and 80% of Otago, then halving the size of the universities will not cause a brain drain.
There will be less misinformed people in the world.

  27. Latest fro ACT..Its looong.
“There’s got to be a better way

The Prime Minister is subtly and but unmistakably shifting the blame for the latest lockdown to Case M, a 21 year old man from South Auckland. Yes, Case M went to the gym after being tested, that is wrong, and there should be penalties for breaking such rules. However, there are some other facts that are inconvenient for the Prime Minister.

It appears that the man caught COVID from known cases D, E, F, G and H. The Government itself reports that genomic sequencing backs this up and that contact tracers have established they might have met case M and infected him. That’s good to know now, but knowing a week ago could have saved us all of this trouble.

Case M was the brother of a Papatoetoe High School (PHS) student. Such people were asked to self-isolate until any PHS family members received a negative test. The sibling received three. Case M is being attacked for going to the gym, by the Government who never identified him as a contact of the known cases he actually got it from until he got tested himself.

Having found that the young man was not the problem, the Government this morning seized upon the fact that the young man’s mother, Case N, visited family D, E, F, G, and H while Auckland was under Alert Level 3. Notice the Government was blaming other people before it knew whom to blame.

This episode tells us a lot about the Government. First, its contact tracing is not up to scratch. Second, it’s not prepared to be reflective and take the blame. Finally, its kindness includes the Prime Minister, a master communicator, publicly shifting all the blame to a young man and his family when it should be shared with her.

The more immediate problem is that a third of New Zealand is now under lockdown, and the South Island is isolated for a problem in South Auckland. There’s got to be a better way.

If any good can come from this episode, it will be a reset in the Government’s approach to handling COVID-19. The Government has been long on complacency, and not short of self-congratulation. Reflection and improvement have been in short supply.

The saga of the Simpson-Roche report tells the story. On September 28th it was released to the Government, damning its management of MIQ and recommending better testing, better technology, and an all-of-government agency instead of the Ministry of Health Running the show.

We did not know this when ACT’s policy was released in August, calling for the same things. None of us were to know until the Government released the Report on December 18. That was the last Friday afternoon before Christmas.

A Government that welcomed open public debate about improving our response to COVID-19 would have released it earlier and promoted a debate. This Government, that was happy to rush out a press release about vaccine agreements six days before the election, did the opposite.

This latest outbreak shows we have not been specially led. We had the world’s greatest advantages for an epidemic, being the most isolated first world country on earth. This and a little luck are what got us to February. The Government now has the opportunity to confront this reality and find a better way.

Vaccines may save us. The early evidence from Israel is extremely promising. However, even if they do keep working as hoped, the Government says we will not get underway with widespread vaccination until the second half of the year. We are at least six months away from vaccines making a difference.

In the meantime, the Government’s COVID response needs a reset. There needs to be a multi-disciplinary Epidemic Response Unit in place of the Ministry of Health. It needs to be open to working with business, so that we can augment our response with better technologies. These ideas are in ACT’s policy from August, and the suppressed Simpson-Roche report.

On the other hand, the Government’s capability and policies for tackling COVID are unchanged. The success rate for contact tracing has not reached 80 per cent of contacts within four days, in fact it has been constant for the August, February I and February II outbreaks.

However, more than anything, the Government needs a reset in attitude. It must stop blaming others, accept that it has not done a good job, and seek to bring more people into the fold to do better. Then, and only then, will we find a better way. We might achieve ACT’s policy and Taiwan’s reality, of maintaining elimination with no more damaging lockdowns.”

    • What about making sure that should the virus get away that treatments like Ivermectin (now on the balance of probabilities proven to work) are available for Dr’s to prescribe. What about encouraging the population to keep Vitamin D levels up. Frankly none of these politicians including ACT have a clue.

  28. On a completely different topic. Has anyone looked at the legality of the imposition of MMP (the evil undemocratic tool that allowed winston first to form NZ destroying alliances) or the denial of our right to vote it out. I was a Key fan but after he hugged up to Obama and also denied us our right to kick MMP out, I changed. He was a do little, status quo man and he squandered a majority that ultimately allowed the PTPM harpy in. Is there any legal hope? Maybe a treaty claim?

    • Criticizing the Vatican pardy.
      You sinner.

The pope has decreed you must do 50 Hail Marys as penance.

MMP is bad but FPP is worse.

Eg. in 1981 Social Credit received 20.7% of the popular vote (the same as Notional in 2002 under Blinglish) but had 2 seats.

In 2015 in UK The UKIP had 12.5 % or 1 in eight votes and 1 seat of 650.

      On balance, FPP is worse.

        • Tail wagging the dog with MMP. I was a social credit fan and met Bruce Betham at a school presentation when I was about 15. Single transferable vote seems to mitigate the effects of FFP while MMP is just a system to empower the indefensible and bring about the chaos socialism is so fond of. If I had to pick FFP to get rid of MMP, I’d do it in a moment. The years of our country stagnating while the power of the deranged increased, would’ve disgusted Bruce Betham I’m sure. I’m sure he would have rebelled against the minority having tyranny and given the pseudo greens amongst others an swift message.

          • I think SMP is the way to sort out MMP. STV is too complicated.
Under SMP the only difference is when the lists seats are sorted out, the electorate seats are taken out first, so the Party Vote percentages only apply to the remaining seats available.- –ie the list seats (This also places more value on electorate seats.)
Under MMP the Party Vote percentages affects all seats so we can have a situation like in the previous election (2017) where National got many more electorate seats than Labour but Labour ended up with more list seats than National. Under SMP that would not occur.
Also the “tail wagging the dog” disappears –Peters would never have been a kingmaker.

  29. By Allan Barber

In spite of its measured, unconfrontational tone and its science-based approach, the Climate Change Commission’s draft advice for consultation is a masterpiece of communist state planning.

The Commission has delivered exactly what I imagine it was tasked with doing: produce a step by step template for a thirty year plan which is very hard to argue with and, therefore, the Government can adopt as policy to silence almost all critics, both national and international.

    https://www.interest.co.nz/rural-news/109289/allan-barber-points-out-if-we-adopt-prescriptive-state-plan-livestock-production

Allan Barber points out that if we adopt a prescriptive state plan for livestock production, it will be a slippery slope for many other industries too, driving increasing distortions and away from essential consumer demand signals

Writing in the New Zealand Herald, PR-man and former National Party staffer Matthew Hooton says CCC chair Rod Carr has gone from being a champion of the free market to a proponent of more far-reaching, centrally driven economic and social change than envisaged by Michael Joseph Savage and Roger Douglas. Even the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change recognised the impossibility of a single committee prescribing a solution to the threat of climate change, preferring to let individual governments impose sinking lids on carbon emissions and use trading schemes to set the price for emissions.
