A major high-grade gold and silver discovery has just been confirmed in New Zealand, and it’s quickly becoming one of the most talked-about epithermal deposits in recent years.
It will be interesting to see if this goes ahead, especially as the area has a very poor history in respect of gold production, and the local ‘alternative lifestylers’ are very, very protective of their cash crops and can get quite aggressive if they feel they are being threatened, while the local iwi are always in favour of ‘direct financial contributions ‘ to their cause…
As in many links the common sense & reality is found in the comments. eg. that of Tekjoe:
“Like many small countries it won’t benefit the locals to any great extent. Money will simply go abroad to investors and foreign interests. Keep up the sheep farming and tourism and stop putting unqualified people in charge of naval vessels..”
At their West Coast meeting, NZF said they wanted to ensure that mining royalties weren’t insignificant. They also proposed that some percentage be allocated directly to the area the mining occurred in.
Basically I lack faith in corporates, especially overseas owned corporates. Their modus operandi is to put off remediation work until the mine has been flogged, put the shell company into receivership & leave the government (aka the taxpayer) to sort out the mess.
We’re still paying for the cleanup in the mines above Te Aroha which closed in 1973. There’s arsenic in the Thames harbour from goldmining & they’re scared to dredge the channels in Coromandel harbour for the same reason.
I’m not against mining per se. I’m against cleaning up the shit after the wide boys have cashed up.
Put a levy on the mining company from day one. Make sure it is paid and only refund it at the end of the mines life, once all remediation is done. If they go bung, the local council has the money to fix up the pollution.
Something like that would do the trick. I seem to recall that there are insurance policies available that will cover any defaults.
With the benefit of hindsight a similar provision would have covered the disaster in waiting at Tiwai when the smelter inevitably closes in X years time.

Exxon Mobil has been having trouble with workers developing stress issues on its offshore oil rigs. The men are on a 28 day on,28 day off, 12 hour on, 12 hour off, 7 days a week roster. As the shifts roll on and fatigue and stress sets in,they have started to take it out on each other leading to arguments and bitter in fighting among themselves, some have been turning to drinking excess alcohol. The Senior managers at ExxonMobil believe the problems could lead to safety issues so have hired an Industrial Physcological Consultant to investigate the issues and see if he can remedy the situation. The initial investigations findings are that although the amenities for rest, relaxation and socialising on the oil rigs are of a very high standard, because of the tight confines of an oil rig, the men don’t really have time to be by themselves to pursue their own hobbies to relax, this is causing the friction among them , leading to fights and excess drinking. What he suggests is that if the men were to bring an item with them to keep themselves occupied and amused in their off time, it could de- escalate the situation causing less problems. 15 countries mobilized under France to reopen Hormuz, Macron says
French President Emmanuel Macron said on Wednesday Iran is ready to unblock the Strait of Hormuz, calling it a good thing.
“About 15 countries are now mobilized under French leadership for a strictly defensive mission, coordinated with Iran, to restore navigation when conditions are met,” he said.
Why is that so? One would assume Macron knows how the French are the butt of much ridicule over their always being late or never showing up when they are needed. I blame it all on their defeat at Waterloo.
Is there any other event in history that can explain this?
Nothing wrong with a bit of ABBA. If you looked at my music history, they would be right up there with Engelbert Humperdinck, Eagles, Kenny Rodgers, Merle Haggard, and John Farnham.
In town this morning I came across something rather disturbing. I called into the chemist to collect a prescription and there, seated like in a doctors waiting room, were four pensioners busily filling in a form on a clipboard. I glanced over one of their shoulders to see what they were writing and to my horror I saw that it was a Covid Vaccination Concent form. If this is being repeated in pharmacies around the country it would seem that the Gates / Fauchi plan to eliminate the elderly useless eaters is still going strong. I felt like saying something but it’s none of my business really. How can it be that there are still, seemingly, so many people who are so unaware of what is going on? I can only assume that they get their news from TVNZ and don’t know how to work the internet.
eliminate them? doing a fucking shit job cuz those old biddys will be on their 15th shot by now.
big pharma dont want you dead, they just want you sick so they can milk you/govt/insurance for all the money they can.
Bloody amazing. Here we have people who have obviously lost their marbles consenting to euthanasia without the active interference of the handwringers of the Catholic church & its political branch sometimes referred to as the National Party.
Poor old citizens racked by pain & riddled with cancer are denied a peaceful death through the vagaries of the Death with Dignity legislation while the pharmacies can line up the perpetually bewildered for senicide at will.
You cannot and should not help the stupid amongst us. They are most likely Liarbour voters. You can be forgiven for not interfering in natures wish to reduce the Liarbour voting pool.
I know my friend I’ve just seen isn’t a Labour voter but she’s stuck in that same void. She has stopped taking covid boosters but recently lined up for the flu jab, shingles and some other offering.
She also has major TDS stating Trump was totally inappropriate with his FU to Iran on Truth Social and also believes Trump has lost his mind. I reminded her Trump is about the same age as Winston Peters and he could soon be our next prime minister. That went down like a cup of cold sick too 🤢😅
The key part was, “unless government legislation confers obligations upon councils”, which unfortunately it seems the RMA and Local Government Act are but two examples. Exactly how consideration of the bros’ views must be made under the legislation I don’t know, but I doubt the legislators ever intended voting rights or what amounts to veto power.
The solution should be to yank any treaty BS out of legislation. Maori as landowners (should but don’t) have the same rights and obligations as any other landowner – as per the equality guaranteed under the treaty.
But of course the weak wankers in government pussyfoot around and just repackage the garbage in a new wrapper.
“Maori as landowners (should but don’t) have the same rights and obligations as any other landowner ”
Paying their rates would be a great start. Its unenforcible because land ownership is soooo complicated. Colonialism has it’s uses I guess.
The relevant legislation is not complicated but it’s unworkable.
Essentially it treats the land as belonging to (say) 264 individual people each liable for their portion. IOW they are treated as joint tenants rather than tenants in common & each must pay 1/264th of the rates demand.
To collect overdue rates the local body must take action against non paying individuals which the snivelling arseholes refuse to do. There is no appetite for change at a parliamentary level & the status quo suits Maori.

John Deere to pay $99 million settlement in right-to-repair lawsuitFrom staff and news services
Des Moines Register
April 7, 2026Updated April 8, 2026, 7:24 a.m. CT
John Deere has agreed to a $99 million settlement fund for farmers in a class-action lawsuit over repair costs.
The settlement addresses “right-to-repair” concerns, with Deere agreeing to provide farmers with repair tools and software for 10 years.
Eligible farmers who paid for dealer repairs since January 2018 are covered by the proposed settlement, which awaits a judge’s approval.
In the settlement, Deere also agreed to make available to farmers for 10 years “the digital tools required for the maintenance, diagnosis, and repair” of large agricultural equipment, including tractors, combines, and sugarcane harvesters, the filing showed.
Fantastic. The response from owners who were not even allowed to change the oil in their John Deere tractors has been deafening. I will never buy another John Deere product ever!
Bloody good job. I’ve read reports from farmers in the states who have waited a week for some halfwit from the dealer to turn up to fuck around with a faulty computer programme & received bills for thousands to “fix” a fault that was baked into the machine when it was designed.
Denying third parties access to tools & software incentivises poor design.
half the fixes are online, ya just call up and they can remote access 24/7 and sort it.
think the plug in is just for updates but half the time its a stupid sensor fault and thd dumb lil sensor is several thousand dollars to replace by time travel, parts and labour. john deere dealerships over here are screwing farmers $190+gst per hour for labour.
Crap sensors are responsible for far more “breakdowns” than any mechanical failure. Most modern engineering is brilliant 21st century stuff plagued by sensors no better than those found on a 1950s toaster.
Why the fuck they can’t build some redundancy into the systems has me fucked. Even two sensors in each location, in parallel allowing operation to continue if one failed would be an improvement. They’re probably worth about $1 each before the parts departments put their mark up & a reference number on it & it price it at $1000 + GST + freight + packaging.
You can buy sensors locally. There is a business here that sells them. told about them a few days ago.
I looked it up and there are quite a few places you can buy them.
There are various types of sensors in agricultural machinery. Optical, electro -chemical, moisture, location, airflow, electronic etc. What we can pretty much guarantee is that John Deere, or Kubota or Klaas don’t make their own sensors. Rather they’ll be sourced from specialist manufacturers much the same as brakes are made by Lockheed & gearboxes by Borg Warner.
Find out what the price per 100 ex factory is vs the unit price ex parts dept & you’ll understand why reliability & lack of downtime takes a very low priority in the development of farming equipment.
House Speaker Mike Johnson has filed a motion with the Committee on Rules and Procedures to begin the process of restricting or removing Democrat Maxine Waters’s vote.
“Congresswoman Waters hasn’t been in the House chamber in months,” Johnson wrote, “Yet her vote is always registered. It’s time to eliminate the procedural loophole that allows that to happen.”
Voting by proxy was a rule added by Democrats during the COVID-19 pandemic that gave them the ability to work less and fundraise more.
“That rule needs to go so we don’t have zombies voting from a rocking chair three thousand miles away.”
You go to work every day to pay taxes, but your representative has been ‘missing’ for months while still casting votes with your money? See how Mike Johnson is forcing these ghosts to come to light. Don’t miss any details of this investigation: https://ifeg.info/…/the-zombie-vote-speaker-johnsons…/

Just more bullshit from the evil bitch.
Too brainless to even begin to think properly.
Ardern and her ministers controversially didn’t want to be questioned publicly before the commission, which did not compel them to.
But Ardern’s testimony behind closed doors has now emerged in interview transcripts released alongside the commission’s Phase 2 report last month.
It follows the Herald’s discovery that Chris Hipkins had received advice as Covid Response Minister about the potential risks of mandating a second Covid-19 vaccine dose for teenagers at a time when tens of thousands of them had yet to get a follow-up jab.

Actually, Ed, I like some of ABBA, Engelbert absolutely!! I bet you didn’t know his real name is…Arnold George Dorsey!!
I shit you not!
Engelbert Humperdinck was the name of a German composer that Mr Dorsey ”borrowed”.
What!!?? Ed started it
In town this morning I came across something rather disturbing.
Culling the stupid can’t be all bad.
eliminate them? doing a fucking shit job cuz those old biddys will be on their 15th shot by now.
big pharma dont want you dead, they just want you sick so they can milk you/govt/insurance for all the money they can.

Why local government is sabotaging any dismantling of the divisive, co-goverance agenda – and why they’re legally wrong.
Michael Laws: Local govt claim they have “obligations under TOW”. They don’t.
Luxon was mouthing off about Trump again yesterday. He should have waited for a report from his foreign affairs minister who again knew more than he did.

Being taken to court by the feds as well.
