David Seymour hints big tax reform may be coming in this year’s Budget
Seymour hints at big tax reform eyed for this year’s Budget

Wed, 15 Apr 2026, 1:31pm Deputy Prime Minister David Seymour has hinted at GST sharing with councils.
Councils might soon be able to receive a portion of the GST collected on some construction that occurs in their areas, potentially adding tens of millions of dollars of revenue to their coffers.
Deputy Prime Minister and Act Party leader David Seymour dropped a strong hint that the policy, long championed by his party, could form a part of this year’s Budget.
The policy is designed to encourage councils to enable the building of more homes, by giving them a financial incentive attached to new construction. Act costed the policy in 2023 at just over $5 billion over the four-year forecast period, based on a calculation of returning half the GST from new build homes to councils.
Act and National’s coalition agreement committed both parties to “consider sharing a portion of GST collected on new residential builds with councils“, but the agreement does not stipulate what portion would be shared.
Speaking to Ryan Bridge TODAY on Herald NOW, Seymour hinted at the change when discussing councils’ funding challenges.
Hopefully other taxes won’t be raised to make up for the loss of revenue by sharing GST with local councils because I doubt that local councils will reduce rates.
they should also structure it so no councils are eligible if they have cogov and non elected members with voting rights…. imagine the creative corruption with a windfall like that!
‘It could’ve been avoided’: Families of sick children vent over ‘not appropriate’ Covid vaccine rules Expert advice in late 2021 would have justified the Government loosening vaccine requirements for those aged 12-17, allowing some young people to avoid social or educational exclusion, or even getting sick. A member of the expert group has labelled those requirements a “100% gold-plated” bad idea. Derek Cheng reports.
The pain in Ashley Beulink’s chest, running up the 14-year-old’s neck, started the day after her second dose of the Pfizer Covid vaccine.
It was February 2022, and the two-dose requirements of the Government’s controversial vaccine passes had been in place for about three months.
The aim was to reduce transmission of the Delta variant while allowing some freedom after the end of the lockdowns and the alert level system, but with different rules for vaccinated and unvaccinated people. Under certain settings, for example, you couldn’t go to a cafe, gym or hairdresser without a vaccine pass showing two vaccine doses.
The passes also applied to gatherings – including some school groups outside the classroom – and while the 5-11 age group was exempt, those 12 and older were not.
As it happens, I was talking to my Grandson last night. He commented about all the young men he knows and the ones he wants to employ having heart problems. He has a hard-work business.
My comment was about all the people around who either have died or are extremely unwell with various forms of cancer.
It’s an epidemic currently.
But we are not seeing it as that yet, and by the time pollies do and rip the heart out of the medical industry (if they ever have the balls to do so), this will continue to claim people’s lives.
Viking, I’ve commented many times but two things stand out like the testicles on a boar.
[1] The number of people I speak to who avoided the vaccine, but are attending constant funerals, for people well under retirement age. And they seem to occur in clusters, withing the same friends or family group.
[2] The excess death rate, which some commentators say is not huge, but the numbers are astounding. I downloaded them from our world in data, which is supplied to them by our government.
No excess deaths in 2020, or in the first two months of 2021, when Covid was rampant. Excess deaths started accumulating and building after the vaccine rollout. since then, a staggering 0.3% of the population have been excess deaths. Over 15,000 and climbing.
Many of the deaths have been instant, or cancers that started and spread, and killed the patient all within weeks.
That’s the real tragedy. Acknowledgement and eventual harsh punishment of those who imposed medical tyranny won’t change the chronic damage they caused.
Those who were forced by blanket mandates to comply with resulting life changing medical status have to live with their damaged hearts, pain and shortened lives. There will be no reprieve or magic cure for the disabled and dead caused by those who blithely imposed medical mandates.
“harsh punishment of those who imposed medical tyranny won’t change the chronic damage they caused.” But it might make others think twice about trying that again in the future.
You have more faith in people’s ability to think through these things than I have. What’s needed, I suggest, is that pollies get made responsible for bad people decisions and that the Medical council get hung out to dry, the pollies that prevent people from choosing their own remedies are banned from office. That we have a constitution that protects the Rights and Freedoms of all citizens.
Been saying this since the N Z Party’s days. They were working on that.
“An up-and-coming teenage tennis ace shocked and horrified spectators when he collapsed on the court from a sudden heart attack last Wednesday.
Player Luigi Santarelli, 15, was seen laughing with his coach just minutes before he suddenly dropped to the ground, witnesses told GBNews.
The medical staff at the Cittadella dello Sport complex in San Giovanni Teatino, Italy, immediately jumped into action to tend to the fallen player, and he was swiftly carted off to a local hospital for emergency treatment.
Sadly, it was all to no avail as Santarelli was pronounced dead at Pescara hospital. He reportedly never regained consciousness.
Authorities have not officially determined the cause of his death, and a full medical investigation has been launched to obtain the answers.
Sports officials say the teen’s medical certificates were current and in order and did not indicate any medical conditions.”
where are the actual stats tho? in the age of social media alot more stuff comes to light. also a certain cooker faction are on the lookout and repost everything to echo chambers so it amplifies and makes it seem as tho its happening alot more.
same theory goes with near anything theses day, climate change/weather events, homeless, poverty etc.
I’ve seen some random info about that, but I’m not sure. There are other remedies and protocols that are recommended. Things that help with inflammation, blood circulation, and neutralising the spike.
Smoking carries it’s own set of risks that distort health figures, so I think lung damage might obscure any benefits of nicotine. Smoking cripples the lungs first line of defense against airborne threats, everything from airborne bacteria, fungi, even background asbestos, and of course vaccine shedding.
I know a bloke who was a heavy smoker. He was an ex rugby prop. He had all sorts of injuries that he kept under control pain wise with voltaran. He stopped smoking. Next thing he was in hospital. Had to have his guts removed, and a colostomy bag fitted.
Doctors said the nicotine was suppressing the voltaran from eating out the gut lining.

See I told you to replace him!
A solicitor calls his wealthy art collector client and says, “Sir Ian, I have some good news, and I have some bad news.”
The client replied, “I’ve had an tough day. Give me the good news first!”
The lawyer said, “Well, I met with Lady Pamela today, and she informed me that she just invested £50,000 in some pictures that she thinks will soon be worth about £50 million, I’ve looked at them and I think she could be right.”
Sir Ian replied enthusiastically, “Wow, that’s incredible, my wife is a shrewd investor and I never even knew it, you’ve just made my day! Now I know I can handle the bad news. What is it?”
The lawyer replied, “The pictures are of you and some rent boys in a motel.”
“Former Xero IT project coordinator Ally Naylor alleges multiple instances of unwanted sexual contact by Drury at his apartment while he was the company’s CEO nearly a decade ago.”
Eh? She kept going back to his apartment for more unwanted sexual contact?

In a display of political chess so brilliant it borders on the comical, Viktor Orbán sniffed out long ago that the European Union, George Soros, Obama, and the whole globalist club were gunning for him. With no worthwhile left-wing opposition left in Hungary (none of them cracked the laughable 5% electoral threshold), the Hungarian prime minister decided to solve the problem his own way: he took his top ally and right-hand man, Péter Magyar, and sent him out front as a deluxe “opponent.”
The plan was as simple as it was genius: Magyar, who until 2024 was a key piece of the Orbán government, dramatically jumped ship, played the dissident, eagerly accepted funds from the very Eurocrats who despise Orbán, and positioned himself as the great hope for “change.” The European left and their patrons fell into the trap like flies into honey. “At last!” they shouted in Brussels, as they cracked open the checkbook. No one understood a thing, of course, because hardly anyone speaks Hungarian and the headlines in Western media were too flattering to question.
The result? Magyar won. And the moment he set foot in power, the “traitor” revealed his true face. He declared that the border “isn’t strong enough,” rejected 90% of Ursula von der Leyen’s demands, prioritized the rights of ethnic Hungarians, and in practice, stuck to the same sovereigntist line that so irritates the EU.
The European Union, Soros, Obama, and company bit the bait, shelled out the cash, and now stare in stunned disbelief as the “change” they celebrated so much is exactly the same old Orbán—just with a different name. Masterstroke. 5D chess at its finest. And the best part: all of it legal, all of it clean, and all of it right under their noses.

Well, never that I would vote Labour, but seriously, this is expected to attract middle New Zealanders that are tossing up between Labour Light and Labour?
So one of, or both of, two things will happen in Wellington – higher earners will flee to the provinces, and/or contractors will demand a much higher hourly rate to make the risk of being a contractor vs being a permanent employee, worthwhile.
The second isn’t currently viable, so the Labour nitwits could expect an exodus from Wellington, and down the track, a shortage of contractors.
A forward-thinking bunch as always.
And for anyone who thinks $150k in Wellington makes you a “rich prick”…🤣😂🤣😂

Whites and the rest of NZ are “the slow boiled frog”
With one or two hold outs excepted YSB commenters present as dedicated opponents to those who trample on civil rights & liberties. That is why I have difficulty in understanding their lack of vehement opposition to facial recognition technology as instanced in my comment yesterday about Bunning’s spyware & probably to this case of false imprisonment via flawed technology.
#. “Williams’ ordeal illustrates the flaws in commonly used facial-recognition technology — and, according to the American Civil Liberties Union, the mistaken belief by many law enforcement agencies that a match in the technology indisputably verifies a person is a wanted criminal.”
#. “The check revealed a warrant for Williams’ arrest, based on an image of a suspect that a bank investigator had uploaded to an electronic mailing list tool used by law enforcement and private investigators. An individual who saw the image ran it through facial recognition software, which falsely flagged Williams as the culprit.”
Without any other collaborative evidence the police obtained an arrest warrant for the woman & she spent six months in jail for crimes someone else committed. That’s six months of a life totally wasted because of a mistaken faith in flawed technology.
And it’s not a one off. An ACLU lawyer says, “Williams is one of 14 people known to have been arrested over an inaccurate facial-recognition alert”. Identifying a person as someone who looks similar to the suspect is not a high enough bar to deny an individual their freedom.
It will happen here unless safeguards are mandated in law.
“With one or two hold outs excepted YSB commenters present as dedicated opponents to those who trample on civil rights & liberties. That is why I have difficulty in understanding their lack of vehement opposition to facial recognition technology as instanced in my comment yesterday about Bunning’s spyware & probably to this case of false imprisonment via flawed technology.”
Yes, f**k the govt, Bunnings and anyone else forcing facial recognition technology, digital ID, freedom of speech enforcement or any other law imposing on personal space or data 💩🤡
When somebody does something that affects you, and they are caught by the use of facial recognition, then you can crawl on your hands and knees and beg forgiveness from Rols boss.
Ya see it’s not all bad, and if you have a driver’s license, then you are on record, so if you do something bad, then why shouldn’t you be caught?
Keep your nose clean, and you will be fine and looked after.
Shit in someone else’s nest, then you deserve to be caught.
So let’s clear up the situation now.
Are you a good fella that causes no harm to others or not?
Green for good, red that you are a baddy and need locking up.
I prefer govt and corporates to stay out of personal life. And No, I don’t have anything to hide. Laws are in place to cover criminal activity for those who break the law.
President Ronald Reagan famously stated,
“The nine most terrifying words in the English language are: ‘I’m from the government, and I’m here to help’ “
…..”Keep your nose clean, and you will be fine and looked after.”…..
How did that work out for Kimberlee Williams who spent six months in pokey as detailed in my link above? Her & the 14 others who were falsely identified by defective facial recognition technology may be less impressed.
Your outlook reeks of “If you’ve done nothing wrong, you’ve got nothing to fear”. It is a favourite slogan of a police state.
😃 Got to keep on trucking despite how depressing the oppression is.

There are claims (which I don’t know if they are correct or not) that nicotine patches help the body rid itself of the MRMA crap.
So, the question I have is this.
Of the victims that have died from the jab, how many were smokers compared to non-smokers?
Possibly not a known thing.
I’ve seen some random info about that, but I’m not sure. There are other remedies and protocols that are recommended. Things that help with inflammation, blood circulation, and neutralising the spike.
I’m told setting fire to witches, helps!
Anyone know any witch?
How many feamles in th eLabour party – need this info to accurately answer your question Sooty

yep thats so, I was kinda thinking that if there was a link between smokers and non-smokers that would be an interesting thing to look at.
I’ve heard that nicotine is anti-microbial or along those lines. The link with being a preventative against covid has been made before.

Think the Far North & Gore councils are co-governance worries? Check out the Otago Regional Council’s ‘Strategic Directions’ policy.
Looks like the govt want the Maori wars back.
Keep your ear out for the chants, “Kill the white farmer!”
Now they’re bitching about schools being given back the choice whether to teach maori or not.
If the schools are not forced to teach Maori the gravy train ends!
From https://san.com/cc/facial-recognition-software-sent-her-to-jail-for-months-she-was-the-wrong-person/

You miss the point. It’s not about enforcing laws, its about identifying those who do wrong
Simple, says that whoever was running that FR was a dumbo and failed like so many to check their facts. something policemen are noted for.
Thank you. I’d be hard pressed to describe better my feelings on the subject.
😃 Got to keep on trucking despite how depressing the oppression is.
Commifornia is nuts. Nick Shirley, the young social media investigating reporter who broke the Somalian fraudsters in Minnesota and medical fraud in California being targeted by California Demorats for uncovering fraud may result in a $10k fine or a year in prison.
