Seymour hints at big tax reform eyed for this year’s Budget

Deputy Prime Minister David Seymour has hinted at GST sharing with councils.
Councils might soon be able to receive a portion of the GST collected on some construction that occurs in their areas, potentially adding tens of millions of dollars of revenue to their coffers.
Deputy Prime Minister and Act Party leader David Seymour dropped a strong hint that the policy, long championed by his party, could form a part of this year’s Budget.
The policy is designed to encourage councils to enable the building of more homes, by giving them a financial incentive attached to new construction. Act costed the policy in 2023 at just over $5 billion over the four-year forecast period, based on a calculation of returning half the GST from new build homes to councils.
Act and National’s coalition agreement committed both parties to “consider sharing a portion of GST collected on new residential builds with councils“, but the agreement does not stipulate what portion would be shared.
Speaking to Ryan Bridge TODAY on Herald NOW, Seymour hinted at the change when discussing councils’ funding challenges.

Hopefully other taxes won’t be raised to make up for the loss of revenue by sharing GST with local councils because I doubt that local councils will reduce rates.

The pain in Ashley Beulink’s chest, running up the 14-year-old’s neck, started the day after her second dose of the Pfizer Covid vaccine.
It was February 2022, and the two-dose requirements of the Government’s controversial vaccine passes had been in place for about three months.
The aim was to reduce transmission of the Delta variant while allowing some freedom after the end of the lockdowns and the alert level system, but with different rules for vaccinated and unvaccinated people. Under certain settings, for example, you couldn’t go to a cafe, gym or hairdresser without a vaccine pass showing two vaccine doses.
The passes also applied to gatherings – including some school groups outside the classroom – and while the 5-11 age group was exempt, those 12 and older were not.

As it happens, I was talking to my Grandson last night. He commented about all the young men he knows and the ones he wants to employ having heart problems. He has a hard-work business.
My comment was about all the people around who either have died or are extremely unwell with various forms of cancer.
It’s an epidemic currently.
But we are not seeing it as that yet, and by the time pollies do and rip the heart out of the medical industry (if they ever have the balls to do so), this will continue to claim people’s lives.

[1] The number of people I speak to who avoided the vaccine,but are attending constant funerals, for people well under retirement age. And they seem to occur in clusters, withing the same friends or family group.
[2] The excess death rate, which some commentators say is not huge, but the numbers are astounding. I downloaded them from our world in data, which is supplied to them by our government.
No excess deaths in 2020, or in the first two months of 2021, when Covid was rampant. Excess deaths started accumulating and building after the vaccine rollout. since then, a staggering 0.3% of the population have been excess deaths. Over 15,000 and climbing.
Many of the deaths have been instant, or cancers that started and spread, and killed the patient all within weeks.
Noticeable in the crowds.
That’s the real tragedy. Acknowledgement and eventual harsh punishment of those who imposed medical tyranny won’t change the chronic damage they caused.
Those who were forced by blanket mandates to comply with resulting life changing medical status have to live with their damaged hearts, pain and shortened lives. There will be no reprieve or magic cure for the disabled and dead caused by those who blithely imposed medical mandates.
Their lives has been forever degraded.

You have more faith in people’s ability to think through these things than I have. What’s needed, I suggest, is that pollies get made responsible for bad people decisions and that the Medical council get hung out to dry, the pollies that prevent people from choosing their own remedies are banned from office. That we have a constitution that protects the Rights and Freedoms of all citizens.

yep thats so, I was kinda thinking that if there was a link between smokers and non-smokers that would be an interesting thing to look at.
I’ve heard that nicotine is anti-microbial or along those lines. The link with being a preventative against covid has been made before.
Smoking carries it’s own set of risks that distort health figures, so I think lung damage might obscure any benefits of nicotine. Smoking cripples the lungs first line of defense against airborne threats, everything from airborne bacteria, fungi, even background asbestos, and of course vaccine shedding.
I know a bloke who was a heavy smoker. He was an ex rugby prop. He had all sorts of injuries that he kept under control pain wise with voltaran. He stopped smoking. Next thing he was in hospital. Had to have his guts removed, and a colostomy bag fitted.
Doctors said the nicotine was suppressing the voltaran from eating out the gut lining.
