    I am not sure accounting and insurance businesses need this world first piece of additional constipation by more reporting however glossy the politicians involved describe their additional legislation and regulations.

  6. Looks like a heads up from Australia of how Ardern will lead New Zealand.

    So there is really no point in doing the vaccinations or doing a rapid roll out?
    This would seem to apply in New Zealand too.

    Mr Hunt suggested at a news conference in Canberra on Tuesday the international border closures could last much longer and stay in place even if the entire population had been vaccinated against the coronavirus.

    So now we can figure, at the very most New Zealand will share in the shaky Australian bubble, and looks like no other real international connection.
    It will all depend on the flow through & bookings of the Monitored Quarantine places.

    It also seems that more powerful track & trace systems, along with vaccine, test passports, could be set for another push, sort of ratcheting things between vaccinations to be done to be rewarded by freer international travel, that will never happen.

    Or are continuing border closures a Federal election winner as it has proven to be for some of the states.
    Federal elections will be held in or before 2022.

    • Depends on your local by-laws. Most seem to encourage collection of your own rainwater but I seem to recall reading something about Auckland Regional Council claiming ownership of all water that falls on any property.

      I think it arose from a proposal for the owner of a large building to collect & sell the water collected from hs roof.

The poor attitude to education displayed by too many Maori parents is responsible for the streaming….not Wascism!

    • Peter Williams was commenting a week or so back that school attendance levels were somewhere closer to 60 percent rather than closer to 100 percent. If you don’t bother attending school it doesn’t matter what stream you have been placed in.

      I was in a streamed class at intermediate, many many moons ago. ( it was an upper stream class). It was the best thing that happened to me — on top of streaming we were in a competitive environment. It all encouraged us to achieve to our potential. If it had not happened I am sure most of us, who were from average working class backgrounds, would have gone on under achieving through out our lives.

      • Agreed. With the right teachers it makes learning & the associated achievement competitive.

        As a 1960’s student who was aiming for a career in agriculture I was put in a class where we were considered to be doing well if we didn’t eat ourselves & I was still in the bottom half. Fortunately my academic experience was cut short when I was expelled & I went on to actually learn something useful. 🙂
