Morning all, the doll had a busy night. Krim dot Com lost biggly in court and is getting closer to America by the minute and the lead singer of the Village People has shuffled off to the big YMCA in the sky.
You learn something every day. Victor Willis, Village People wasn’t gay, I thought the whole group was.

Renaming places in a foreign language is an erosion of our sovereignty. It takes away our freedom to use the language that we want to use, that we have traditionally used.
It compels us to say things we don’t want to say.
How is that a good thing?
We communicate mostly via conventions as in can be figured that eventuated in place names.
In other words, we decide what a place name is by what as a culture want it to be known as, then fix the term as a convention via “map” dictionary & common usage to know where we are, so we can express where we are to each other and be understood.
It’s a group process more or less but based on what we want expressions, words, concepts and taxonomy to mean.
A part of that was in the change of what was a marae, a pa, a village, to what was or could be seen as a town or a city, if one can see the transfiguration just in this sentence.
So what is the maori word for city?
Māori word for city is tāone or tāone nui (literally “big town”).
But they never had that, or even a definition for over 150 years,
So now one is made out to be a borderline criminal, a racist for not using the new definition.

Commerce and Consumer Affairs Minister Cameron Brewer not admitting defeat on surcharge ban proposal
Commerce and Consumer Affairs Minister Cameron Brewer says it’s a case of timing when it comes to the government’s proposed surcharge ban.
“We continue to work with the Commerce Commission [ComCom], with MBIE [Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment], with our friends and foes in Parliament as to where we could take this,” he told reporters on Thursday.
“There’s a lot of work required because we want to see if those interchange fees that ComCom dropped twice … What impact they’ve had on merchants and have merchants passed those on.”
“We continue to do the work,” Brewer said.
This is despite National’s lack of backing from coalition partner ACT, while its other coalition partner NZ First thinks the plan is going nowhere.

For his final project in a statistics class, a student decided
to conduct a survey. So it wouldn’t be a boring project, he
chose to find out peoples’ favourite pastimes.
The teacher required that he sample at least 100 people, so
he started out his project visiting a fairly large apartment
building near the university.
He knocked on the first door and a man answered.
“Sir, what is your name ?” ; asked the student
“John” ,replied the man.
“Sir, I’m doing a school study and would like to know what
is your favourite pastime ?”
“Watching bubbles in the bath,” Came the reply.
He liked the esoterical answer and continued down the hall,
until he came to the next door, when he asked again.
“Sir, what is your name ?”
“Jeff !” ,said the second man.
“Sir, Would you please tell me your favourite pastime ?”
“Watching bubbles in the bath,” was the answer.
Quite amused and confused he went on to ask a good number
of people in the building and all of them had the same pastime
“watching bubbles in the bath”.
He left the building and walked across the street where there
were several houses to continue the survey. At the first
house, he knocks and an attractive girl opens the door.
Our surveyor starts again.
“What is your name?”
“Bubbles.”
