“Firearm licence applicants are being checked for shaven heads, Nazi symbolism and camouflage clothes after the March 15 terror attack.Signifiers of the extreme right include tattoos, Celtic or Norse symbolism, books on the Third Reich, confederate flags, and reference to Norway mass-shooter Anders Breivik”
Morning all watch what cloths you put on this chilly morning they might indicate you are white supremacists, why do i still suspect these are not the only tools our boys in blue will be using to identify the evil that lurks around every corner, do Celtic knot tramp stamps count as well

      • On the subject of Raelene Castle, am re-posting this link from an Australian board governance expert. She refers to Raelene Castle as

        “… a B-grade sports administrator ..”
        and her opinion is that
“the heat will come on Ms Castle for her management of the Israel Folau matter which has been poorly handled from start to finish and her credibility will be on the line

Apparently, the favourite for the job of CEO of the ARFU was Phil Kearns, but the board in their infinite virtue-signalling need to prove that they weren’t slaves to the male patriarchy, made a diversity decision to hire Raelene Castle instead. Hard to imagine a sensible fellow like Kearns making a complete hash-up of things the way that Castle has, I imagine the conversation with the panty-twisted gay CE of QANTAS would have gone something like this..
Joyce “I’m deeply offended by Folau’s homophobic post, you have to do something to make him pay”
Kearns “Put your handbag away and feel free to take your sponsorship elsewhere, you pay to be associated with a premier sports brand not to impose your views on us all, we’d like to retain your sponsorship but only if you understand it doesn’t mean you own every Wallaby, their thoughts or their rights”

Anyway, the appointment of Castle once again proving my point that, ALWAYS, diversity is the new stupid.

      • I think that is a bit harsh, Christ College didn’t think that their purchaser would buy piecemeal. yet they have been very accommodating of one of their flock who wants to transition from boy to girl.

There will be some on the back of that decision to pressure them into becoming coeducational now.

    • Oh!
      Was there a solution?

I started reading and it was:
      whinge ,moan, sook
      rich white people
      whinge ,moan, sook
      Paritai Drive, rich pricks
      whinge ,moan, sook
      its not fair

      I gave up.
It rambled on too much which has been their style since the other mob started a paywall.

Fairfax and its bastard offspring love to have pictures of miserable people standing in front of their house which a practiced miserable look.
These are the only photos they don’t get from Google earth.

      • Those that could buy the sections have. We are going to have a leasehold issue. Kawhia is mostly Maori lease land, not mine fortunately but as I was selling real estate at the time I bought it I would think that I was wise to it.

That houses on the leasehold land are only asking 55$ for the house, is indicative of the wider problem. It will face future housing development also when available land is built on.

  3. Many, many years ago I was one of about three million who lived in a typical New Zealand house.

The house was a bungalow-type, single glazed and insulated by an air layer between the bricks and the interior wall linings and between the ceiling and the building paper lining the roof tiles.

The house was heated by the sweat of occupants’ brows; coal was delivered by the truckload and had to be brought inside, wood was chopped usually twice, once when first brought to the house for stacking and again to usable size pieces prior to being brought inside.

Like most my age my winter trousers were usually (but not always) purchased and repaired in the home when required and throughout the winter, inside (most of the time) and outside (all the time) we wore hand knitted jerseys.

My only coat until I started work was an old hand-me-down gabardine one that started off as my father’s and worked it’s way down.

We slept under old blankets in unheated beds, in unheated rooms, getting up early each morning to help prepare breakfast usually of oat or wheatbix with warmed milk.

More often than not cold was worked off, even as a child, by restocking firewood, coal etc. before leaving for school or work.

During the day the home was aired and dried by opening the unglazed windows.

At the end of the day the cold made you appreciate the hot, home-made soup that made up a significant proportion of the evening meal.

I’m buggered if I know how I (we) survived!

    Now global warming has hit.

No longer is it safe to live in single-glazed, uninsulated homes.

Warming is done, not by that global warming but by whinging until someone else fixes it for you.

  4. Hinemoa Elder calls for end to ‘structural racism’ against Māori in New Zealand
    https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/new-zealand/2019/06/hinemoa-elder-calls-for-end-to-structural-racism-against-maori-in-new-zealand.html
“”We know that if you live in poverty and you’re an indigenous person, you’ve got a greater risk of being subject to the stressors that make you vulnerable to having those problems,” she says.
“We have an inequitable system, we have structural racism in our country that we’ve got to continue to name, and talk about and talk about how we can dismantle those structures which perpetuate racism which, frankly, is what makes people mentally ill.”

Some soul searching from Elder about mental illness in Maori which unsurprisingly comes up with the same old tired conclusions of structural racism and colonisation.
Funny that because I would have thought a lot of mental illness in Maori would have been caused by neglect, excessive drug use and alcohol abuse but I suppose this is a bit hard to accept so easier to divert attention elsewhere.

And it was quite an interesting article about herd immunity and masturbation killing more people annually than measles. And the poster hasn’t posted again.

    • Lower levels of cultural respect – decrease in the percentage of Waikato survey respondents
who agree that New Zealand becoming home for an increasing number of people with
different lifestyles and cultures from different countries makes their city/area a better place
to live, from 51% in 2006 to 41% in 2018.

      • As a kid I asked my Mother- how come we don’t speak Italian? She replied- “your grandparents wanted us to be raised up as English-speaking Americans.” In other words, the intent was to become part of the country you are emigrating to, as opposed to the f*cked up attitudes of the left we deal with today.

        • The use of other languages is divisive & a barrier to assimilation……that’s why the Left promote ‘multi-culturalism’.

We used to make good hearted fun of Dutch & Polish immigrants who found speaking English hard-going but at least they gave it everything they had.

          • They had a hard time in the early days of a new USA, and lest we forget the prejudice against the Irish, which just seems insane nowadays. I can walk the talk as an immigrant myself- I’m 100% loyal to NZ, have always been employed here and paid taxes. I’m proud of where i came from originally, but this is my home. I tease my in-laws I’ve tainted their proud multi-generation Kiwi heritage with my Yankee blood!

            • The Irish generally got a hammering through being Catholic in a Protestant majority country that was last century’s NZ. In the 50s for example the public service was saturated with Catholics who (to be fair) often didn’t get a fair go in private enterprise where belonging to the correct lodge was important.

  6. He’s strange fruit that “Batman” but to give him his due he actually does log in & clear a few comments from time to time.

DPF was originally going to appoint about ten moderators but most of them appear to be missing in action.

    0

    0

      • I dunno about that. I am the moderator on here and so far after 2 months haven’t had to do much apart from trash a couple of comments and delete one person . If you show people respect, then they will try to reciprocate and not abuse your trust.

        0

        0

        • There’s an essential difference. As owner of the blog you automatically assume the role of moderator in much the same fashion as DPF did with Kiwiblog (2008-2019 RIP).

It’s when the blog owner deputises moderation to outside control freaks that things turn to custard. eg KB, the Standard & Whales site.

        • “If you show people respect, then they will try to reciprocate and not abuse your trust.”

You would think that but lefties commonly can’t help metaphorically knifing anyone who doesn’t agree with their belief system the back. I’ve found it better to stay far away from their reach.

          0

    • DPF is a Wellington insider who has been insulated from the real world for as long as Kiwiblog has been active. I’m sure he is a decent sort of chap, I’m sure he genuinely believes that he is centre right but being insulated from reality for so long means that he has no real idea of what the rest of us in the real world have to face on a daily basis. He is far too friendly with the scum from the left for my liking and affords the maggot we have as PM far too much respect. I’ve not posted a comment at DPF’s place since the introduction of the moderators and have no desire to do so. His once vibrant blog has become an echo chamber for wet centrists who hate Trump and would have gladly seen Clinton as POTUS because it means a continuation of the norm.
Long live Trump, Long Live Brexit, Long Live ScoMo and down with Horseface and her ilk.

      • …..”He is far too friendly with the scum from the left for my liking and affords the maggot we have as PM far too much respect”…..

Only if you see it from a Right = Conservative……Left = Liberal perspective. I’ve much in common with DPF in that I’m a financial conservative & social liberal. IOWs, do whatever the fuck you want but don’t expect me to pay for it.

The weird thing is that DPF’s blog is overrun by commenters who are financial wets yet hard line social authoritarians & religious bigots.

        • There’s nothing less liberal than a hard-line socialist which is what Ardern truly is. But we are forced to see people as contrasts compared with compatriots rather than measure them against absolutes.

Bridges & the National Party with their anti personal freedom attitude make Ardern & the rest of the Trojan horse appear liberal.

  7. I’ve just been listening to Sam Harris’ latest Making Sense podcast #161 talking to Jared Diamond, the author of a book called ‘Upheaval’ which deals with the rise and fall of cultures, empires and countries.

It’s a long podcast, but as is usual with Sam Harris it’s well worth listening to.

At one point I sat up and had the shits scared out of me when Jared Diamond was describing what happened in Chile in the early 70s and the cataclysmic upheavals there with Allende’s attempts to turn a democratic country Marxist followed by the coup which vomited up Pinched and led to 27 years of despotic military dictatorship.

Two things particularly struck me Firstly, like Diamond, I was in Chile both before and after the coup and as he says there was a general feeling among Chileans that their society was strong enough to overcome both extremisms and that after the coup things would ‘return to normal’. Chile was, after all, a cultured democratic country with a relatively high standard of living and education etc compared to neighbouring countries. Just a glitch. She’ll be right. No worries mate.

The second thing that occurred to me was the startling similarity between what happened to Chile and what is now happening to New Zealand. Our country is presently like Chile was under Allende. It has been taken over by a (quasi democratically elected?) Marxist regime which is hellbent on overthrowing many of the pillars on which our society was built and literally destroying our economic and social cohesion.

Unlike Chile, though, NZ doesn’t have an army that could mount a coup, so the emergence of a Pinochet is unlikely. What is very likely, however is the catastrophic decline of a formerly prosperous democracy into ever more chaos and social upheaval as various interest groups fight (literally) to gain control of what remains of our country.

With the general population disarmed and the weapons firmly in the hands of criminal gangs, our economy destroyed by government decrees which literally clamp our energy sector shut and strangle our agriculture, increasing bribery of indigenous tribal interests and the rapid decline of our education system, we are fast becoming the Chile of the South Pacific.

If we don’t do something urgently to turn this catastrophe around, we’re going to be in deep shit and we’ll be wishing that our army could come to our rescue.

The crisis will really hit in 2021 or so after National has lost the election and free speech has been totally shut down. At that time we will be begging for someone to come to our rescue. Will it be Australia or maybe China? Whatever happens I don’t think it will be pretty.

  8. We use “eh” so much because most of us have a maori friend or workmate, so we are exposed to it, and copy it.
Funnily enough none of the maoris I know or work with use many other Maori words.
    Aside from tangi, and kai.

  9. One of the few fighting to maintain “free speech”

Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) brilliantly grilled Derek Slater, Google Global Director of Information Policy, over revelations from a Project Veritas video of political bias at Google.
Crenshaw’s questioning included his anger that according to the Project Veritas video, Google had referred to Daily Wire Editor-in Chief Ben Shapiro, Jordan Peterson and Dennis Prager as Nazis.
Crenshaw snapped, “What kind of education do people at Google have so that they think that religious Jews are Nazis?
Three of these people had family members killed in the Holocaust, Ben Shapiro is the number one target of the alt-right.
And yet you people operate off the premise that he’s a Nazi.”

[Senator Crenshaw] If we don’t share the values of free speech, I’m not sure where we go from here.
You know, this practice of silencing millions and millions of people, it will create wounds and divisions in this country that we cannot heal from.
    This is extremely worrisome.
You’ve created amazing platforms. We can do amazing things with what these companies have created, but if we continue down this path, it’ll tear us apart. You do not have a constitutional obligation to enforce the First Amendment, but I would say that you absolutely have an obligation to enforce American values, and the First Amendment is an underpinning of American values that we should be protecting until the day we die.

  10. The writer is not that far off the mark Rachael:

…..”Maybe the real reason was even deeper and has something to do with the slow death of conservatism, as it is expressed in New Zealand by the National Party.”……

National wins when it markets itself as a good manager of the economy. It wins when it promotes individual freedom as in the case of the Folaus. It then squanders that political capital in opposing medical marijuana & assisted suicide.

It lets itself down when its Catholic mafia ignore the centrist vote in favour of the loopy, religious-conservative micro minority who have nowhere else to go politically.

They have no idea of how to win elections & no affiliation with reality.

    0

    0

    • National have certainly mis-judged the anger of the licensed firearm owners, and the level of support from their families, friends and the general public who can’t understand the rush to disarm law-abiding citizens while dismissing the gangs having firearms as a problem.

      0

      0

      • For last week’s End of Life Choice Bill second reading National were 18 for vs 37 against. I would suggest that the Committee for the Promotion of Virtue & the Prevention of Vice would have split along similar lines.

Since John Key retired the National Party have out manoeuvred the New Conservatives & now represent all forms of religious oppression by the minority of the majority. They represent the Godaddled & the socially conservative to a “T”. They’ve got those who know better than us how to live our lives on board.

The only grouping they’ve totally ignored is the sane!
