I’m enjoying the sense of boldness to be found in various parts of the world at the moment.
In Britain, thanks to Freedom Day, they’re out and about enjoying their summer having run a successful vaccination programme.
The Olympics, although run in a country with a poor vaccine rollout, was determined not to let a pandemic ruin their day in the sun.
No, it’s not what it could’ve been, but in a world where too many are driven by fear, you have to admire their bravery in forging forward, and at the end of it, when it hasn’t turned into a super-spreader event, hopefully a few of the sceptical observers might note that everything doesn’t have to be locked down forever in order to live with a virus that is going nowhere.
Then we have the protesters this past weekend in various parts of Australia, who are fed up with their Government and its inept attempt to face up to a virus that is hurting them in a way it never needed to because Pfizer Moderna, Oxford and co came to the party months back and all you had to do was negotiate.
Which brings us to this country and its burst bubble.
We are not going to Australia for two months, because we are as useless and lackadaisical as they are.
To be fair to Scott Morrison, he did at least have a half-decent plan at the start, he got AstraZeneca lined up in amounts that would allow them to vaccinate rapidly, and had CSL able to produce it locally. That was until various countries, most notably Germany, who upon reading some early medical data, lost ALL sense of proportion and freaked out.
The rest as they say, is history, and they’ve been busy on the phone to Pfizer ever since, trying to make up for lost time.
We, of course, didn’t even do that. We have essentially sat here pretending there was no hurry.
You see the scandal here is that that was always a lie, there was always a hurry, because of exactly the predicament we now find ourselves in.
We are trapped and we are scared, and all we have at our disposal is the same plan as we did 18 months ago … lock the borders.
The difference this time is we’ve had access to an answer, the vaccine is the answer.
Vaccines mean the ICUs aren’t full, the very reason we locked up in the first place, people aren’t dying in droves.
The sooner we get vaccinated the more we can move forward.
That was always the truth, the Government just didn’t want to tell you that and, sadly, far too many New Zealanders weren’t alert enough to want to hear it.
The same terrible outcomes haunt us the way they did a year and a half ago and yet now they haunt us for no good reason.
Businesses closed, unable to trade; government aid programmes fired up paid for by yet more debt; airlines cancelling seats by the thousand; the mental health issues; the uncertainty; the hit to confidence.
Australia is living it, because of complacency, we are but one case away from the same outcome and yet none of it is now necessary.
In the early days, fear was easy to pedal because of the unknowns, today the facts are in, if you want to read them and we are now dealing with a full-blown rort.
Our vaccine rollout is a national disgrace, our lack of supply is a direct result of a lack of determination, and an abdication of responsibility to the people of this country.
The simple truth is we don’t need to be in the locked-down mess we are.
We never had to be.
Scott Morrison apologised last week for saying “its not a race” … he was wrong.
Our Government owes us the same apology.
“We don’t have Covid” was their excuse, but look at us, paralysed because we might, fear stricken because it’s a couple of hours’ flight away.
We are sitting ducks because we have a lazy, inept government that has the 125th worst vaccine rollout in the world.
And what makes it worse is they still insist this thing is going well, and what makes it even worse than that is there are still some suckers left here who believe it.
The problem is Mike Hosking is just berating and proving Labour is totally unable to deliver anything.
The issue is what do we want Labour to deliver?
The vaccines?
The vaccines that is not looked at, to even to consider a court case proved that government was in breach of it’s own NZ Medsafe terms & conditions of use of Pfizer, that then used retrospective legislation in Urgency to be passed to legitimize the government’s vaccine plans.
That NZ Medsafe tells all ‘vaccinators’ to ignore the “Emergency Use Authorization”, but not really emphasized NZ Medsafe terms that now follow NZ government guidelines. a part of government propaganda.
Hosking and many others, thugh they seem to stir, seem to be all very careful to remain with in government propaganda guidelines, that the vaccine is the magic bullet to the virus.
Not even to consider any of the other debates & discussions by Doctors, researchers, here in New Zealand or overseas.
So really they are just another mouth piece for Ardern’s adhans.

Well I probably won’t make any friends with my reply and will most likely earn plenty of down ticks, but this is really about Jacinda Ardern and her Government simply to take the pressure and bullshit away from their vaccine problems and Jacinda’s woeful performance, the Prime Minister says we have a plan and it’s ahead of schedule but really we are still at the bottom of the list when it comes to how many and which have received their vaccines.
While the supermarkets have high prices and are up on years before , they didn’t cause higher fuel prices increases on sick leave increases in the hourly rate and freight prices that are also through the roof .
While I agree it is not helpful with prices increasing look at everything else, petrol , electricity and tradesman they have all increased.

Completely agree HC. The raising of minimum pay rates is going to cause price rises in most commodities and the loss of some of those jobs as automation will be introduced to reduce costs. It has also had a flow on effect as my “slave” gets a 10% pay rise as of next month. I can see he is struggling to make ends meet as cost of living is goes up. That cost has to be passed on to customers as there is no “fat” in the system. I am not sure if it will mean less work as customers balk at the increases.

If you get a neighbourhood dog by accident and an autopsy is done you didn’t poison it as dog ate tampon ,it swelled up and blocked its intestines , my experience involved coyotes but there was always the risk of someones wandering pet hence the need for non toxic methods

An advertiser’s first policy violation will only result in a warning. But advertisers will earn their first strike if we detect continued violation of our policies. Advertisers will be able to receive a maximum of three strikes, and the penalties applied with each strike will progressively increase. Temporary account holds will be applied for the first and second strikes (for 3 and 7 days respectively), while the third strike will result in an account suspension.
An advertiser placed on a temporary account hold will be required to remedy the violations in question and to submit an acknowledgement form to resume serving ads. What would be a reasonable definition of a “COVID vaccination death”? Simply defining it as any death within __ days of completing the vaccination is arbitrary. What about those who die of other illnesses or accidents or simply old age?
How would you fairly define a “COVID vaccination death” so as not to mislead people?
If you cannot define a “Covid Vaccination death” then there is no way you can define a “Covid Death” as being caused by “Covid” There is no such thing as a covid death, but there are deaths caused by underlying illnesses.
The UK has a code for “Covid” death. Please note that a “code” is not the same as an accurate definition. Codes and coding are used in market research all the time to give labels to responses, so that the responses can be sorted, tallied and analyzed. Nothing more. “Codes” are merely handles. They are often highly arbitrary.
Coding is one of the darkest of the Black Arts of market research.
The UK government code for “COVID death” is death occurring within 28 days of an (overclocked) PCR “test” throwing up a positive.
So, let’s say I catch the coronavirus, but have no symptoms and recover from it naturally. There will be fragments of the virus in my body (for a time). The over-egged PCR test will likely lead to a “positive” test result. If I am killed in a motorcycle accident 25 days after my PCR test, the UK government would record my passing as a “COVID-19 death”.
Gee. That sounds highly fear-inducing and misleading to me.
So with the abandonment of the now discreadited PCR test, how many covid deaths have been wrongly attributed to “covid”?

Earlier this year the agency put out a special warning that “you should not use ivermectin to treat or prevent COVID-19.”
The FDA’s statement included words and phrases such as “serious harm,” “hospitalized,” “dangerous,” “very dangerous,” “seizures,” “coma and even death” and “highly toxic.”
Any reader would think the FDA was warning against poison pills.
In fact, the drug is FDA-approved as a safe and effective antiparasitic. ….

How does the New Zealand health system rate those 2 very important medicines now?
That needs to be publicly asked, and persisted with, to find the reasons why or why not ! ! !
It would seem to be a great kindness to allow Doctors to prescribe these medicines!
Or is it a cruel kindness to with hold them? to deny the well being of the people. ? ? ?

….. Despite the FDA’s claims, Ivermectin is safe at approved doses.
Out of 4 billion doses administered since 1998, there have only been 28 cases of serious neurological events, according to an article published this year in the American Journal of Therapeutics.
The same study found that Ivermectin has been used safely in pregnant woman, children & infants.
If the FDA was driven by science & evidence, it would give an emergency use authorization for Ivermectin for Covid 19.
Instead the FDA asserts with out evidence that Ivermectin is dangerous.

At the bottom of the FDA’s warning against Ivermectin is this statement:-
“Mean while effective ways to effective ways to limit the spread of Covid19 continue to be to wear your mask, stay at least 6 feet from others that do not live with you, wash hands frequently, and avoid crowds”.
Is this based on the double blind studies that the FDA requires for drug approvals? No.
Really no reason that this is not given in the New Zealand health system for the treatment of covid19.

Cave mystery and a shipwreck: Ship drawing, names, cannon found at Chalky Inlet
A scientific expedition from Christchurch has found a cave in a remote part of Fiordland where survivors of a shipwreck may have sheltered.
The team from Willowbank Wildlife Reserve was looking for the elusive South Island kōkako when they chanced upon the cave in Chalky Inlet last month.
The cave had a drawing of a galleon vessel and what is believed to be the names of its mariners etched underneath.
The remains of an old cannon were discovered nearby.
“You can’t help but wonder the history behind those names, why those men were there and what happened to them,” Willowbank managing director Michael Willis said.
