  3. A Murupara doctor could face medical watchdog scrutiny over comments around informed consent for Covid vaccinations, despite the community rallying round their GP and local leaders saying there was no anti-vax message.

    Dr Bernard Conlon is under the spotlight for comments made last month at a Māori health expo at the Murupara Medical Centre.

    According to a newsletter posted by the medical centre on its Facebook page, Dr Conlon had spoken “around his concerns with informed consent for children and pregnant women”.

    “Unfortunately, this was not well-received by the Public Health representation, and as a consequence Bernard has been reported to the NZ Medical Council who have arranged a hearing next month,” the newsletter read.

    He said the Council “has been clear in the recent publication of guidance, that there is no place for anti-vaccination messages in professional practice, nor any promotion of anti-vaccination claims including on social media and advertising by health practitioners.

    Dr Walker, of the Medical Council said the body’s job was to protect the public health and safety of New Zealanders.

      • So medical staff are not able to voice their concerns regarding this jab now? I would have expected that Doctors would voice their concerns regarding this to all their patients. it is their duty to do so. That is what we pay the Dr for, otherwise we may as well write our own descriptions for what ever we think we want, google what ever we think is wrong with us and go from there. Dr Walker says “There is no place for anti vaccination messages” So we are living in a Nazi, Stazzi, world, where as the Germans stated after the war they were only ‘doing what they were told as their excuse for atrocities? And that is OK it excuses them FFS. FCUK this is going from bad to worse. Every day there is something even more utopian put upon us.

          Florentia Sale (née Wynch; 13 August 1790 – 6 July 1853) was an Englishwoman who travelled the world while married to her husband, Sir Robert Henry Sale, a British army officer. She was dubbed “the Grenadier in Petticoats” for her travels with the army, which took her to regions such as Mauritius, Burma and India, and various other areas under the control of the British Empire.

          Florentia Wynch was born on 13 August 1790, in Madras, during Company rule in India, the daughter of George Wynch, a member of the civil service. George’s father Alexander Wynch was the Governor of Madras for a time during the 1770s. It is possible she is named after her paternal grandmother, Florentia Craddock, wife of Alexander. She was raised by her uncles and received a good education as a child.

          In 1809, Wynch married Sir Robert Henry Sale of the British Army. She accompanied him on his numerous postings, raising their children while he fought. The couple’s first child, daughter Mary Harriet, was born a year after their marriage, on 17 February 1810 in Walajabad. By the time of the birth of her second child, she had moved to Mauritius, where Sale was stationed; George Henry was born in 1811 in Port Louis, Mauritius. Five of the couple’s other children were born in Port Louis too, the last being in 1818. On 1 October 1820, she bore her eighth child, Henrietta Sarah, in Montluel, France. Her last child, Alexandrina was born nearly three years later, on 2 January 1823 in Calcutta, India. All her children married into families with associations with India including Bruere, Bray, Holmes, Dysart, Hill and Brind.

          During the First Anglo-Afghan War, Lady Sale, along with other women and children, as well as soldiers, were taken prisoner in 1842 during the British Army retreat from Kabul and detained for nine months. The group were taken hostage by Akbar Khan following the massacre in the Khurd Karbul Pass. Amongst the hostages with Lady Sale was her youngest daughter Alexandrina, along with her husband Lieutenant John Sturt. Sturt was fatally injured by a severe wound to his abdomen, in an attack in which Lady Sale was shot in the wrist and Mrs Sturt’s pony was shot in the neck and ear. The two women nursed him his final hours. Upon his death, she secured him a Christian burial. After nine months, the party managed to negotiate the Afghan captors into releasing them; they were then rescued by Sir Richmond Shakespear on 17 September 1842. Throughout her time as a captive, Lady Sale kept a diary, detailing the events of the ordeal in a very straight forward and thoughtful manner. She sent parts of her diary through her captivity to her husband and he sent it on to the authorities in England and it was quoted by the papers at the time. She was unimpressed by how the newspapers had reported her actions. A year later, she published this as A Journal of the Disasters in Afghanistan, 1841–42, which documented her experiences throughout the Afghan War, and the book received critical acclaim. During her time in Afghanistan Lady Sale collected some ancient coins and donated 20 of them to the British Museum. One of the coins is on display today.

          Lady Sale’s husband died in action in 1845, leaving her widowed. From 1846-1848 she had a grace and favour apartment at Hampton Court Palace, just outside London. She remained in India for most of the rest of her life. After her husband’s death she received a pension of £500 per annum in light of her conduct as a prisoner and her husband’s military services. Sale took a trip to the Cape of Good Hope in 1853 for her health, though she died not long after her arrival, on 6 July 1853, in Cape Town, South Africa. Lady Sale was originally buried in the Somerset Road Cemetery. After the leveling of this cemetery the monument for Lady Sale and her remains were re-erected in the Maitland Cemetery, Cape Town, where her grave exists to this day. Her tombstone reads “underneath this stone reposes all that could die of Lady Sale”.

        • I went to my Dr yesterday for an unrelated matter and told her that I wouldn’t be getting the jab. I brought the subect up at the start.

          She was very good and didn’t even mention it again. She did send me for a blood test as punishment I am sure and as I am overdue for a mammogram I am booked in for one of those too ffs.

          For you gents who might think that squeezing boobs is fun, may I assure you that they do not like being squeezed and flattened in order to be photographed. God knows how flat chested women get on.

    • I thought there is a law / regulation that someone cannot give a vaccine unless the patient had given informed consent !!
      If I am correct then Dr Conlon is acting professionally within the law and Dr Walker is the one who needs to be under investigation for instructing doctors to break the law / regulation.

  23. Given that COVID cases keep on popping up in Auckland, I suspect that a restrictive lockdown will continue for Auckland from next Monday 13th. If we are lucky, we may be able to pick up takeaways.
    Otherwise, I don’t expect to be able to exercise in my gym or go on a motorcycle ride to get Parmesan cheese from Mercer until early October (if I am lucky).

    And yet, Labour support is not sinking in the “polls”. Perhaps if the pollsters stopped ringing the same cohort of Karens and elderly Mr. Smiths each time, they might get a more accurate picture.
    Or maybe a solid core of voters are truly masochistic and want the State to step on them even more…?

    Times are going to have to get a lot harder before the strong men step forward.

    • What we find hard to comprehend, OS, is there is a large percentage of the population who don’t venture outdoors much at the best of times. These people are happy to be nursed by the state, and are unlikely to run businesses or be self-employed. They vote labour and comment on TS. This percentage is not trivial.

    • Interesting thing about these new cases is that the people were not sick showing covid symptoms. They have only been discovered after a mandatory test… I reckon there may be thousands out there with Delta with no signs at all, and unless tested won’t get picked up. Still no On line Ivermectin available from the usual source.

  28. Just been to the supermarket and then Mitre10. No problems at the supermarket but at Mitre10 they have only one entry and a plonker at the door. I sailed on in and he hauled me back saying “you didn’t sign in.”
    I replied no it’s just a farce.
    “You cannot come in if you don’t”
    So I went to the table and picked up a pen and asked him how safe is it to handle this?
    He said its sanitised each time someone uses it.
    I signed in as J Ardern with a made up phone number.
    Looking back at others behind me that pen was NOT being sanitised between users.
    As I came out, I said good to see you are not sanitising that pen !!

      The local supermarket (no names) had the usual ‘gate keeper’ on duty.

      In the morning, this was a young chap, who when i approached, handed me a freshly-disinfected trolley, said ‘In you go sir’ and let me walk past.

      HOWEVER, five hours later, (I had to buy something for tea), a resurn to the same establishment to0 discover that an older guy (Mid-50’s) was now on duty.

      In my niavety I walked up to him, expecting a repeat of the morning.

      No chance!

      The ‘Gate keeper’ pushed a trolley towards me, then stopped mid-way, and demanded (real surly-like). ‘Have you signed in’? (Trolley being held)

      ‘Um, no, should I have?’ was my reply.

      ‘Then sign in!!’; a DEMAND, not a ‘pleasantry, no manners either!

      The signing register was some two metres away, so I went over and duly wrote ‘something’ to satisfy the demand.

      That done, I looked back. to see my trolley now pointing towards me, and accompanied by a derisory grimace from the holder.

      He was enjoying his moment of power, especially as there were fifteen others in the queue behind him , also watching.

      I took the proferred trolley and went inside.

      But here is the thing:

      Immediately ahead of me had been a Yummy Mummy’ and her Primary-school aged daughter. They were admitted without comment, and with definitely NO demand that they sign in.

      Friends? Favouritism based on gender and appearance? (Surely not; shock, horror etc. etc. etc.)

      Makes you wonder doesn’t it….

    It is important in our day to day conversations with other people not to use the words and terms used by our overlords.
    For example never use lockdown, instead lockup, home detention, prison sentence etc.
    Others that spring to mind:
    Bubble- confinement group, cell mates
    Vaccine- clotshot, untested gene therapy
    Unvaccinated- Control group

    It’s the second time Robertson has sought this financial authority to keep up with COVID-19 costs. The initial Imprest Supply Bill passed in June last year authorised up to $56.5 billion, of which $20.5 billion – or 36 percent – was utilised.

    National and ACT were the only parties in Parliament to oppose it, because the additional spending would add to the Government’s current debt pile of more than $100 billion. But because Labour has a majority, their votes were not needed.

  35. I have to say that I despair for the future of New Zealand. I have been into town this morning for the first time in over a week. It is a bright, beautiful day in Blenheim and EVERYWHERE there are f**king morons wearing masks out of doors in the wind! I would say fully 70% of people on the streets are masked up. We’re supposed to be at level 2 because there is NO covid in the South Island (yet – there will be soon judging by the queues of idiots waiting to be injected with the Pfizer poison) but the shops are behaving like it is level 4. Like I say I despair!

    million NZ dollars. The vaccine was designed for the first variety of Covid19. We are now upto variety delta for which it, understandably, does not work very well. No problem though, Pfizer is on a roll and we will be getting boosters every six months until our Angel of Death sees the light. Doubtless it will be forgotten that even Pfizer advised that it should not be given to pregnant and lactating mothers.
    Since human gestation lasts nine months many young women will forego children or take a chance. They will all be too young to remember Thalidomide. With each jab Antibody Dependent Enhancement (ADE) kicks in and natural immunity in the jabbed progressively declines. Mortality will increase with each succeeding jab.

    The preceding is fact. What follows is my imagination.

    Eventually, perhaps only when faced by a lynch mob, our Angel of Death will see the light. But it may be too late by then. We may be facing something comparable with the Black Death or Bubonic Plague of the middle ages and all our natural immunity will have been lost. Government, law and order and the police will be gone and the entire population numbered in mere thousands will be spread across farms and the coast in small communities so fearful that every person approaching, who is unrecognized, will be shot on sight and left to be devoured by packs of starving city dogs. By then we will have reached Covid19 variety omega.

  48. Old Guy With A Sign – episode 4

    Operations resumed now that rain has stopped. Strong winds today – I had to keep a firm grip on the sign.

    I took up my post in central Manukau, on the corner of Cavendish Drive and Lambie Drive. A reasonable amount of traffic around, still far less than normal. I got a decent number of toots and thumbs up. Several people took my photo – some of them while they were driving. A depressing number of people wearing masks in their cars. Cops ignored me once again.

    I lasted an hour on the corner, before the wind chill got to me and I walked home. To be continued….

  52. On the Novavax announcement; a couple of things occurred to me about this.

    Is this a tacit signal that the Government have lost faith in the Pfizer vaccine? There is no clinical evidence whatsoever for using Novavax as a booster but plenty (back to the 1980’s) that this type of protein fragment vaccine offers long term efficacy. Is it also a recognition that the only way they will achieve a near total vaccination rate in NZ is if they offer non-mRNA options to those who have held off?

      • True. However in defence of Novovax, they are using a more traditional vaccine methodology. However, I will be doing a ton of research before I let a needle near me. There is also the moral point of vaccinated vs unvaccinated. How do we support the unvaccinated if we ourselves are vaccinated? ( even if its safe). I believe that in this situation everybody has to be able to make a choice. I have always been very anti the antivaxxers, but I have some sympathy for their cause now.

    • We tried to get MOH permit to grow a hemp crop several years ago when we purchased our property, the paperwork, hoops n hurdles were too much in the end and they mucked us around too long that we missed the planting date so gave up.

      The rules regulations around it are so messed up and make no sense which adds a massive hurdle to full crop utilization esp when it comes to animal feed. To be commercially viable in nz we need a full range of market options not just the select few that are permitted.
      A farm a couple kms from here has grown it 2yrs in a row now but theyre chasing a small niche market thats a waste of time imo

    There’s just one problem. The text makes no mention of any of the woman’s comorbidities, but the photos of her indicate she must have a BMI upwards of 40. What other illnesses did she have?

    Dr Gaston is also the former President of the NZ Association of Scientists. We have been repeatedly told to “follow the science” yet, through their actions, these two have told us that if it is OK for them, as scientists, to ignore the science then it should be OK for us all to do the same.

    When I first contacted Duncan Grieve, the Managing Editor at The Spinoff, about his contributor breaching both lockdown rules and her own advice regarding socialising and mask-wearing, I also specifically asked if the other person contributed to The Spinoff. He denied it.

    Now we have discovered that Dr Gaston is indeed a contributor to The Spinoff, with her own author page. We again asked Duncan Grieve for comment. No reply has been received at all. It is clear that The Spinoff and indeed other media think they can just sweep under the rug such an egregious failure by one of the most vociferous spokespeople in New Zealand on matters relating to Covid-19.

Like him or loathe him (and I’m in the former category) Cam Slater is nearly impossible to distract once he smells blood in the water.     Dr Bloomfield told the 1pm press conference on Friday that he doesn’t believe Dr Wiles broke the COVID-19 rules, but National leader Judith Collins has labelled the Auckland University infectious diseases expert a “hypocrite”.

    During a virtual conversation with a Pacific group aligned with the National Party, Collins laid into Dr Wiles after a video was posted online showing the science communicator about 5km from her home at the beach with someone who appears to be a friend, both maskless.

    “I think she’s a big, fat hypocrite, actually, and I’m sick and tired of listening to her telling everyone else what to do, and here we have the evidence that she had travelled from Freemans Bay to go and visit with her friend on the beach at Judges Bay in Parnell,” Collins said.

    “That’s about 5km, and unless she ran there – and I doubt it – then she wasn’t exercising. No masks on, sitting there on the beach, and the friend goes off for a swim. I watched that video, and I thought: big, fat hypocrite.

    “I’m so sick of her telling us all what to do. She’s not doing it? Just do it… If those TV stations have her back on telling everyone what to do, I think we should just turn them off.”

      I dont know who i hate more cindy or pinky, they both irritate the hell outa me and make me angry. One things for sure is pinky definately wont have a spot in labour party untill cindys gone, cindy dosent like to share the limelight.

      • The black snow laden clouds hung threateningly over the Blue Mountains while all above me was blue. The sun seared down and the wind was but a whisper. I returned to my vehicle complete with sun burn and chapped lips. Cranked up the 4WD, the radio tuned to Channel Peter Williams. I did not really listen to the squeaky female voice, being more interested in my immediate pain. There came on some guy, I think his name was Danny Wanker and he took a call from Richard. Richard verbally eviscerated him. Good stuff, my pain vanished as the hapless dipstick Danny tried to justify why he did not ask some question he said he would ask. I still don’t know what the particular question was. I finally worked out he was interviewing the Pink Haired Land Whale and she played the “I’m being cyber bullied” card. Get a safe space you know it all, no credibility hippocritter.
        Big ups to Richard and a couple of others who skewered dipstick Danny.
        I reckon he will need counselling and a wee pep talk from resident moron and Stabby enabler Gower.

    • Groundswell NZ will stage ‘The Mother of All Protests’ in November, following on from its ‘Howl of a Protest’ in July, and the ‘Can You Hear Us’ protest in August.

      The farmer protest action group posted on social media on Friday, telling its supporters to ‘save the date’ for the protest, which will be held on Sunday, November 21.

      Co-founder Bryce McKenzie said the group would release more information about the protests, which would be held nationwide, next week.

      “We’ve still got a few of the finer details to put in place just to add to it, but we’ll tell people more about that next week,’’ he said.

          MPs are not on holiday.

          There have been 5 lockdowns in NZ since and including March 2020.

          This includes the current one and 2 separate ones commencing in Feb 2021

          None of these commenced while MPs were on paid holidays, and usually just after they come back to work’
          As if !
          First Feb ‘2021 one was the second day they were back.
          The current one is a week after 3 weeks hols.

          So Nov 21 is an approved date for lockdowns.
          MPs dont lose any holiday.
          And, with lockdowns, they DO NOT lose any pay.
          and dont have to front up to the great unwashed public .

          In fact as we have seen, the consecutive so-called Ministers of Health have been largely absent in lockdowns.
          Why?
          Nothing to do with health.
          These lockdowns are pure politics.

    AUT health science students have been threatened that if they do not get the covid 19 vaccine they could fail their degrees as they would not be allowed on clinical placement which is part of the paper requirements. The covid 19 vaccine is still on clinical trial and is not mandatory for DHB staff.

  84. The only thing we watch on TV is a program called The Repair Shop, Friday evening TV1. People bring in family heirlooms etc in need of some TLC. Anyhow the ads came on and one was for The Sunday program. This Sunday there is a segment “What every parent needs to know about the vaccine”. Complete with images of young kiddies being injected. If my blood pressure can cope I will try and watch to see what fresh horror they are pushing next.
