  1. You aucklanders are damned if you do damned if you dont, lockdown will get extended if more random cases are found and lockdown will also be extended if not enough testing gets done to find random cases.

And even when you so get out of lvl4 lvl3 is no better for 90% of ppl except fatties can gorge themselves on unhealthy shit, then lvl2.999 is just as shit as lvl3 so youre fucked for the forseeable future.

  2. Its quite sickening to see the amount of retarded business owners cap in hand begging for handouts 🙁 is this the new normal?
While i feel bad for business getting smashed by the govt why choose to drain the countries finances further when the most logical thing to do instead of begging for $$$ is to demand to open up, stand up and say no to this shit or it will go on forever.

For as long as this govt can get away with throwing money at problems to “oil the squeaky wheel” nothing will change, change needs to happen workers need to stop getting paid during lockdowns businesses need to stop claiming subsidy and resurgance welfare and most importantly the ppl need to direct their anger at our useless politicians that allow this to happen.

    • Whilst I accept the sentiment in your statement Stoopid Boy, unless you can suggest a sensible, tangible way a small business owner can act to force change, its nothing more than words.
I am Auckland based, in my mid 50’s, been self-employed for 35 years and started my current business from scratch 22 years ago. I have paid PAYE, Fringe benefit Tax and tax on profit for this entire time. I employ full time staff and casual staff sourced from a labour hire company. Through no fault of my own, by a government I didn’t vote for, I have been forced to stop manufacturing, again. My business has been forced to cancel its income, but to keep incurring ALL overheads including rent, power, insurance and of course, wages. I still incur personal expenses with no income. A few of my staff and I attempted to carry on during this lockdown however got shut down (it’s a noisy operation).
I have joined every possible action group, a business support group, attended protests, (bring on the next Groundswell!) written to MP’s, the Prime Minister’s office and voiced my opinion about this scam to anyone who is (or isn’t interested for that matter) in listening to it. And what effect do you think any of this has had on our current situation? Absolutely fucking nothing of course.
The wage subsidy is not support for business. It’s just a pittance pass through to my employees to keep them going and I have to top them up to their normal wages. I haven’t bothered with the resurgence payment (which is the first actual, direct support for business offered) even though I feel entitled to having contributed to the government coffers for all these years, another pittance not worth the paperwork.
You say stop paying wages. Ok, let’s say I do that. Your taxes will still go to my staff until they find another job, only now by way of an unemployment benefit. I now have no staff, my business goes broke, so I am no longer paying any business tax. I also have no income so what do I do? Claim an unemployment benefit? Explain to me exactly how the self-destruction of my business would materially change anything for you or anyone else? Are you prepared to cancel your income in the hope that will change any of this? And you’d support your family how?
Mate, if you’re prepared to start a revolution, I’m in. I fucking HATE this government. I fucking HATE the bullshit that’s going on about this so-called pandemic. But I’m not prepared to commit suicide over it for nothing.

      • Same here. We are paying 100% of all employees salaries and 100% of normal expenses but income has dropped by 74%. The wage subsidy pays only 1/3 of the wages. We have to top it up. This can’t continue much longer.

      • Understood HB but the whole point is this shouldnt be happening and certainly shouldnt he continuing. By accepting what is essentially hush money the govt accepts that as a silent nod of approval.

I dont know a way to combat it and sway the govt, its too hard to unify a voice when theres so many varying opinions and circumstances. Untill you can get a majority on the side of common sense then all efforts are futile.

One things for sure is its not free and every week of payments made will be adding years of debt to the taxpayers burden.

        9

        7

      • There is little consolation in offering my sympathy HB, like the faux financial sympathy and pithy words the government offers, but you are exactly right.
After the first lockdown I had serious threat evaluation. I had been bled dry by insurance, rent, phone costs, delayed equipment maintenance and vehicle replacement. My biggest threat was the actions of the government. Over the years my business has been refined down and ticked over nicely with one employee.
Two weeks before the lvl4 lock down I laid off my only remaining worker as I said I could not make it through another lockdown (inevitable given government incompetence), but he would have work until another position was obtained. He had another job (skilled essential work) within 48 hours. I have gone back to where I started 30 years ago, as a lone operator. No worries with employee expenses and now I only take on the work I want to and work the hours I want to.
This government has no understanding of business and are killing off people’s life work.
I wish I could help you but where do we start? Hang in there mate.

        • Thanks Hog although I’m not looking for sympathy. I just struggle with the logic that forcing hard working kiwis (as all business owners are) into closure would be a positive scenario? The whole country on government welfare? Surely this is what Ardern’s Marxist Agenda is all about?

          15

          • I know you’re not looking for sympathy Ballzak, BertP, Hog, etc but having worked under trying times I send all business operators caught up in DL and Robbo’s web of deceit a medal. Hang in there and don’t let the turkeys get you down. Have a beer on the rest of us who really appreciate all you do. 🥇

Every time I hear the words team of 5 million I want to throw up we are definitely not all equally affected.

    • MEDIA GREEDIES

Early this year, under the guise of “enhancing public interest journalism” that was deemed to be at risk due to COVID, the Cabinet established a Public Interest Journalism Fund. It is to assist the media to produce stories that keep New Zealanders informed and engaged, and to support a “healthy democracy”. The fund is also to “protect jobs at a local, regional and national level” believed to be in peril. Applications for grants were invited for $55 million to be made available over the run-up to the next election. New Zealand On Air is administering the fund.

Obviously you are talking about these ones.
the rest of us actually would like to get on with life.
So why would you decry us for helping ourselves to robbo’s inflated budget just to keep the staff paid and at sometime be able to open the fucking doors again only to be ripped off for our water etc.

  4. Must be tiring work being a retired boomer esp if in lvl4, all that doing nothing all week has got you a well deserved sunday sleep in 🙂
Amazing how quiet and slow this place is on a sunday morning, perhaps youre all masked up and socially distanced at church// i hope a few of ya are enjoying frollicking at the beach maskless with mates… just remember to dye your hair pink first and bloomfailed says its algood.

    • I am a retired person in my 70s and have been out to the dog park same as I do every day. I left home at 7.30 met other retired people past 70 and younger walking their dogs. Yes its slow Sundays but W T H difference does it make to you? I and most of the people I know of a certain age, worked and paid taxes from an early age some as young as 15, and continued to do so all their working lives. When I started work there was no DPB or unemployment benefit that I am aware of. We all worked whether we wanted to or not. I worked for 67 years full time then for another 2 years part time. So I do enjoy having a nothing to do day occasionally and no we don’t all wear masks and lots of us are not socially distanced at church.

      • “Not socially distanced at church” – I am not going today as have been enthusiastically told there will be 2 metre seating, only 50 can attend, masks should be worn and should sign in but a register of who is attending will be kept anyway.

      Envy much?

However, I’ll bite (and FWIW), I am indeed a ‘retired’ boomer, but sorry to say, by virtue of being a publishing author, home-owner / maintainer, researcher / writer in a specialised field, and (thanks to DL ///) now ‘Food -gather’ , I definitely don’t fit your evidently-well-held stereotype, and as for ‘sleep-ins? Up at 0400 as a matter of course (Years of shift work has that effect), while the nearest beach is 120 km away (All of which are only a few of the things I do BTW: there are a lot, lot more).

So ‘Tired’? THAT is a ‘luxury’ I simply don’t have time to do; places to go, things to see (DESPITE DL’s machinations).

Thought you might like to know; not all stereotypes (Even the well-held ones) are actually correct.

      Thank you.

    • In my younger days, I recall looking at the IRD demands which at first did not make sense.
Ever since then I have kept a damm costly accountant to make sense of it, and to cope with the clean out of the bank account. So I paid it.
Secondary job taxes seemed rough too, but having to top that up. 🙁
I had gone into the 60 cents in $ range.
Bearing in mind there was also a good slice of 50 c in $ going to the government also, as well the lower more ordinary tax levels.

Even paying that tax would generate that more tax that had to be paid.
As tax is considered personal drawing, and so has to be taxed also.
From the 50c tax paid, then you have to find half of that again to pay as tax,or even at 30c in the $ then an 1/3 again, then a 1.3 again & again.
I am not surprised that even in a down turn, the tax take by the government does not seem to go down.

Since then, it was not really my accountants advice that reduced my taxes, but timing when I did work, and to pay a constant flow of tax, from which then the accountant could adjust.
Big fluctuations still occur, & are not so good. Now much more aware of those problems, and the pressure & stress that it brings.

If able to basically not spending, keeping the money liquid / bank until the tax was paid.
Then the remainder of the money is really free to spend money as you would wish.
Not that always pans out perfectly, as remaining balanced standing on one leg, then close your eyes. 🙂
OD’s from banks bridge a gap, but remember, paying them off or any loan, or capital expenditure attracts IRD, like flies to a turd for more tax.

Nothing more sure than death & taxes, and one gets the feelz that government would if they could, tax you in the grave too.

  8. Supermarket shortages may last ‘FOREVER’: Food and Drink Federation chief gives stark warning that the days of shoppers getting anything they want are ‘over’ – as farmer says crisis is ‘killing small business’

The stark message from Ian Wright, chief executive of the Food and Drink Federation, came as customers continued to share pictures of gaps on shelves and a farmer warned staff shortages were ‘killing small businesses’.
Addressing the supply chain issues, Mr Wright said: ‘It’s going to get worse, and it’s not going to get better after getting worse any time soon.’
Speaking to listeners at an event organised by the Institute for Government, he added: ‘The result of the labour shortages is that the just-in-time system that has sustained supermarkets, convenience stores and restaurants – so the food has arrived on shelf or in the kitchen, just when you need it – is no longer working.
‘And I don’t think it will work again, I think we will see we are now in for permanent shortages.’

    • What a load of crap that DM article is.
Even the comments call it out; as they can on DM.

Firstly it is a hit on Brexit and the fact that after Brexit the frogs have deliberately created long queues at ports into and out of their white flag country
You know the reward for the Brits stepping up when the Hun invaded multiple times last century.; reward for Britain housing the vile cnut De Gaulle for years; the reward for Britain getting them – the fallen, flailing, failing, frightened Frogs a permanent seat seat on the UN security council; the Brits sharing knowledge on nuclear capability with the surrender monkeys and so on. //

      Second
The comments are mainly from Wilfred Emmanuel-Jones MBE who runs a racially segregated operation called ‘Black Farmer’
      He is a black fella.

      Third
The shelves are partially empty because people have moved to online shopping so they dont have to line up etc
Would you like to be lining up outside in a British winter for an hour in Feb when the normal cold and flu season is full on?
Supermarkets might have to look at being oversize after a shift to a different demand basis.

This has led to a shortage of drivers as the change to delivery has been rapid.

That is what it really says .
Also, ‘just in time’ was clearly out the door by April 2020.
That was obvious. Quoting this 18 months later makes you the slow kid.

      also verbatim in the article:.
      >Mr Wright said this doesn’t mean the UK’s going to run out of food, but higher-margin products would be prioritised by retailers.
‘That’s a first world problem. Nobody’s going to be completely bereft if they can’t get bottled water.

  10. Latest Petition
Petition seeking urgent suspension of experimental Pfizer Vax rollout to teenagers

Dear Prime Minister, Minister of Covid, Director General of Health and Medsafe
Over the last few days there have been reports of post vaccine adverse effects, including the death of a 17 year old from St Mary’s College, Ponsonby. Other teenagers have been airlifted to Starship hospital with serious heart issues after getting the PfizerVax.
Children have minimal risk from Covid. The UK authorities do not recommend vaccination of teenagers.
It is inexcusable to put young lives at risk for a government’s vanity.
There is no urgent need to vaccinate our teenagers. They must not be sacrificed as a shield for others.
I urge you to immediately suspend the rollout of the Pfizer vaccine to teenagers until all reported post vaccine deaths of teenagers have been fully investigated and proven to be entirely unrelated to the vaccine.

    • Do not reply, Do not open.
I know not easy as sometimes you may have legitimate health patient business.

On e-mails from my medical centre, I have told the office staff, when it was hot news back then, that I had an email about a survey about my local medical centre.
They advised to junk mail, and best to get it removed from my computer.

As I know they are contaminated with virus, it is simple, do not open!
I will not open anything from them, as now they are contaminated with the Waikato DHB, as I do not want that hi-jacking, ransom-ware, spam.

Same goes with texts, as that is another way for viruses to be spread, as that info, contact is via the info sold by those computer hackers.

When they ring you, I do ask them for their hospital, name, credentials, department, which the moment they seem to fudge, so straight into counter points about techie spams and scams that are so prevalent these days, so I take best advice, best practice, precautionary principle, for health & safety, about spammers, to totally ignore. Good bye,,

I do not go down vaccine, virus, or health rabbit holes. 🙂

  18. Police Officers In Queensland Mount Legal Challenge To Covid-19 Vaccine Mandate

The officers say the mandatory vaccination policy “infringes upon the right to freedom and informed consent to a medical procedure”.

The initiative created by “a group of concerned Queensland police officers and their families,” raised over $45,000 (more than double their initial goal) in just a few days.

RT reports: Police officers, who claim the matter “is not pro- or anti- vaccine,” say they need the money to get legal help and work with a law practice to challenge a recently introduced measure to fight the spread of coronavirus. According to the newly implemented directive from the Queensland Police Service (QPS) Commissioner Katarina Carroll, “the entire workforce in all QPS workplaces within the next five months” must be subjected to vaccinations and be fully inoculated by January next year.

    • Nationally, there have been a number of reports of “unexplained deaths” ever since vaccination started. Some shortly after the second Covid shot. The amount that actually get reported on Stuff and in the Herald are small, however even in these media outlets, there have been more “unexplained deaths” in the last few months than I have seen in decades.

  21. A young woman’s body has been found in Manurewa but the police can’t identify who she is, either through political correctness or maybe abject stupidity:

Investigators believe she is in her late teens or early 20s, so are asking the public to get in touch if they have a young family member or friend that has not been contact over the past day and this is out of character for them.

It’s going to be really difficult to identify this poor girl because she hasn’t apparently got any approximate height or build and she definitely doesn’t have a race of any kind, or a type or colour of hair.

Not publishing any recognisable features is going to make it a bit difficult for family or friends to offer any clues – especially while everyone is under virtual house arrest. It’s a tricky one alright. But at least they’ve committed themselves to saying it’s a woman. That was probably a mistake and some poor cop is undergoing gender diversity evaluation right now.

Transporting all the Caspian basin’s fossil fuel through Russia or Azerbaijan would greatly enhance Russia’s political and economic control over the central Asian republics, which is precisely what the west has spent 10 years trying to prevent. Piping it through Iran would enrich a regime which the US has been seeking to isolate. Sending it the long way round through China, quite aside from the strategic considerations, would be prohibitively expensive. But pipelines through Afghanistan would allow the US both to pursue its aim of “diversifying energy supply” and to penetrate the world’s most lucrative markets.

The principal of the school attended by the deceased student has not returned an emailed request for comment.

An unfounded rumour about the student’s death appears to have first popped up on Saturday night and was given a big boost when lawyer and NZ Outdoors Party co-leader Sue Grey, a well-known anti-vaccine activist, posted about it to her followers.

    • Nine observed habits of professional habitual liars: Used by dishonest politicians, narcissists, and cheating partners/spouses worldwide.

[1] Lie, whenever you need to. The end justifies the means.

[2] Lie with conviction. Even though you are wrong, your conviction and certainty will win over the weak minded, and have them doubting themselves, or the alternate viewpoint.

[3] Lie, even though the evidence or facts are contrary to your argument. See point 2. Your certainty and conviction will cause the weak minded to believe you, and not bother to check the real facts.

[4] Lie, even though the science is contrary to your argument. Most people believe they are not smart enough to understand the science behind Climate Change, Covid-19, or the vaccine.

[5] Lie, by making shit up, especially if it sounds scientific. As per the saying: “If you can’t startle them science, baffle them with bullshit.” Most people will not know any different.

[6] Lie, by adding to your narrative, double negatives, filler, big words the listener won’t understand, or used in a way that generally confuses the listener. They will then assume they are not smart enough to understand.

[7] Lie, even in the face of video footage or photos that prove you are wrong, guilty, or caught in the act. Maintain the conviction and certainty or your lie, and have the other party doubt themselves. Narcissists are well practiced at this.

[8] Discredit the person behind the contrary narrative. Use sweeping labels terms like “Conspiracy theorist:, “Tinfoil hat wearer”, “Anti-Vaxxer”, “Vaccine Holdouts”. Or say “That theory has been debunked”, or “That person is a fraud or a liar”. Note: This strategy is helpful if you want to avoid discussing the specifics or science, especially when your opponents actually understand the science. You can also blame the opposing parties for the damage your actions have caused.

[9] Lie, even when there no need to lie, or no benefit to lying, and when lying may actually harm you. This one is reserved for pathological liars. They cannot help themselves.

Once you tell one lie, you’ll probably have to tell more lies to backup the first lie. The problem with high profile liars is that they never have enough brain storage capacity to remember whom they have told what, how, when and why. Once that happens, lying, refuting, denying, changing the subject, attacking the other party and their viewpoint, and so on. becomes a way of life. And with it, the descent into madness.

  32. Old Guy With A Sign – episode 5

Today’s episode was in Papatoetoe at the main intersection by the train station. Nice day for it. More traffic than last Sunday. People have commented about more traffic now than in last lockdown. Maybe people have got fed up enough to start breaking rules. I hope so.

Walking to my spot for the hour of signage, I interacted with several pedestrians. The first one was afraid we would all die of covid. The second guy thought NO MORE LOCKDOWN was a great idea. Lack of takeaways was getting to him. I got him to take off his mask.

Someone yelled from across the street, “Put a mask on.”

    “No.”

    “Go home.”

“No.” He gave up after that.

Walking through the main shopping area, I found an enthusiastic supporter. As luck would have it, his phone had run out of memory so he couldn’t do a video of me. He told me had been to Mission Bay after the lockdown started to video people breaking lockdown on the beach.

I found a spot with good visibility and a handy railing to sit on. Lots of people don’t look at me as they drive by. They are either deliberately ignoring me or paying little attention to their surroundings.

A good number of supportive waves and toots, including from a bus driver. I was photographed several times – I might become a meme.

I stayed for an hour, then walked back home, taking a different route from the approach, for more visibility.

    To be continued….

        • Only one type of steak worth eating……scotch fillet, aka rib eye. Quickly seared & served with a hot pink centre although an instruction to the chef to knock off its horns, wipe its arse & throw it on the plate will often produce the best feed.

Porterhouse & rump are pet food.

        • OS wagyu is pretty average tbh, ive had it several times and its certainly nothing to write home about. Grass fed and grain fed both average although id rate the grass fed a bit higher, any other well grown grass fed beefy would produce same or better quality meat.

I wouldnt mind giving the rice or olive reared wagyu a crack just so i can say ive had it but i like a descent beef flavour and the moment you feed an animal a majority of 1 food it changes the flavour and to a point the texture of the meat.

          3

          0

            • No nasska the grain feeding changes the fat in the marbling from yellow to white, you can marble fine on pasture but the fat turns sligh yellow due to the keratine in grass.
The grain fed meat has far higher acid content and also grain fed is usually on a feedlot/barn so very little exercise and stress hence the tenderness.

Like everything with food taste is determined by the individual eating it so my taste will vary greatly to yours and others, personally a well grown and older grass fed beefy is superior, most beefies will have excellent marbling from 3yrs of age and great flavour. I find killing at 18-24mnths the meat dosent have near the flavour. My homekill steak side by side to grainfed wagyu has same marbling but different meat and fat colour (grassfed has darker meat)

              • …..”grain fed is usually on a feedlot/barn so very little exercise and stress hence the tenderness.”…..

Point taken. I only ran beef to keep down the manuka & tawhini on the really steep country. They always needed finishing which I didn’t do because I made more money with lambs.

Though I’ll stick with my original point that the beef in the average NZ supermarket is boot leather compared with grain fed alternatives. Probably because a fair bit of it comes from superannuated dairy cows.

                • “Superannuated dairy cows” bwahaha i love it. I havent had supermarket beef lamb pork for almost a decade now but i sure have sent plenty of those superannuant culls off to the works throughout my dairy career.

Its amazing the high prices of meat in the supermarket for such a low grade product.

            • Sure do rach, but it has its limits ive eaten beef that had been fed up on novelty foods… i couldnt taste marshmallows or choccy biscuts lol.

One of the most halarious moments in farming ive witnessed is 700cows gorging on truckloads of marshmallows, cheeks chocka with clumps of marshmallow and fighting over the feed its like crack for cows.

Molasses and poor balage/silage is easily detected when you eat meat thats recently consumed it, wild meat esp pork and venison has a distinct earthy ferny taste if its been living in the fern for a while. Sheep and deer eating lots of broom also have tainted meat, kinda sux you cant tell untill butchered and cooked 🙁 our dogs have got alot of meat from the freezer over the years from various taints from animals ive hunted.

“There’s no excuse for being ignorant. It’s a simple message, go and get vaccinated. It’s okay to blame the Government but we have to take responsibility for ourselves as well. The right thing to do is to go and get vaccinated.

“How many more millions of public funding do we need to keep giving to Māori service providers so more Māori go and get their vaccines? We’re saying here’s the money, go and inform the Māori communities of the benefits of the vaccine. But at the end of the day, people are staying home.””

Sorry, but I have to disagree; Not about King getting off his couch and ‘encouraging’ Maori to do ‘something’ (for which about time) but with his encouragement of them to have the jab when he knows full-well that it is a wolf in sheeps clothing.

Contrary to some stereotypes, not all Maori are fools and they are extremely conservative and cautious, and on that basis will do what THEY think is best for THEM; NOT what some ‘suit’ insists they should.

Mr King’s words will be considered, politely, and carefully, but they are unlikely to have very much effect and ultimately (and after the aforesaid ‘consideration), will be largely ignored.

I was in awe of the nurses and doctors that went above and beyond to save the life of and look after my loved one. They kept mentioning how the system was making it so difficult to care properly for their patients. They also stated they would not have the jab.

It was telling to me that our latest lockdown happened just before three planned strikes (nurses, doctors, and groundswell).

To watch this video of US nurses is heart breaking. I know our NZ nurses will be feeling the same. Victimised and bullied.

WILL BLOOMFIELD BE THE FIRST RAT TO DESERT THE FAST SINKING HMNZS COVID-19?

Sources indicate that a move to a position with the Nelson DHB is on the cards for Ashley Bloomfield.

As the adverse reactions and death toll mount from the “vaccine” said to be “safe and effective”, according to Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and others associated with the “single source of truth” cult, could this move be an attempt to distance himself from possible criminal liability?

A number of court challenges are underway to prevent further harm to unsuspecting recipients of the experimental serum currently undergoing human trials in New Zealand.

The trials expected to end in June, 2023, have, as yet, no long-term safety and efficacy data available.

Participants in this experiment are at serious risk of harm, including death. Initial results of these trials are anything but encouraging.
