    On Oct. 26, TikTok executive Michael Beckerman was asked by members of U.S. Congress if the app shares data with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Although Beckerman said no, there is reason to think otherwise.

    With all this talk of Instagram, it’s easy to forget that other problematic apps exist. In fact, according to a comprehensive survey carried out by analysts at Piper Sandler, Instagram isn’t even that popular among U.S. teens.

    Aptly titled “Taking Stock With Teens,” the 91-page report outlines the responses of 10,000 American teenagers. Just 22 percent of respondents listed Instagram as their app of choice; interestingly, 30 percent named TikTok as their favorite app.

  4. Ireland Sees Rising COVID Cases and Deaths Despite Highest Vaccine Uptake

    For the second month running Ireland has been ranked top in Bloomberg’s Covid Resilience Ranking of the world’s 53 biggest economies. Its report claims the Republic is now reopening after vaccinating more than 90 percent of its adult population.

    Alongside its praise for the Emerald Isles, the Bloomberg report includes a cautionary, even contradictory note: “With daily cases currently at their highest level since January, Ireland’s continued success will depend on widespread vaccination severing the link between easing curbs and virus spread.” Here it is referring to the need for a nationwide booster jab programme.

    But how can a country with one of the highest vaccination rates in the world currently be facing a resurgence of COVID cases and deaths?

    They have removed Health Care frontline workers from receiving a booster as ““Most Healthcare workers have adequate immune systems, and it is unlikely they will need serial boosters as COVID doesn’t change at the same rate that flu does.”
    The Irish government’s vaccine booster program is being made available for all over-60s—unless, it appears, they are frontline health care workers. This will now begin in January or February of next year as this third jab is understood to be most effective when administered five to six months after receiving the second one.

    And the biggest take-up of vaccines in Ireland, particularly the second jab, took place during the months of July and August 2021, which were the very same months that fatalities began to rise again in Ireland.

    Could there be a correlation between those two events?

      How can the conmen say that? The jabs have only been around for 12 months and the booster far less than 6 months. They got approval for the booster because the regulators saw it as so similar to the jab it did not need further testing.

        If the first jab did it’s job, the second jab and booster shots would be unnecessary. The body would identify the second and subsequent jabs as being the virus and put it down. That people are sustaining vaccine injuries and dying with the second jab, tells you the vaccine is not a vaccine.

        By the time you get your second shot, your immunity should be very high. If you get fucked over by the vaccine on the second job, you immunity was decreased by the first jab, not increased by the first jab. Which as we know is caused by the vaccine destroying immune system T-Cells, not building them up.

        And going for a second jab when you got a heart attack/anaphylactic shock/stroke/etc on the first jab, you would have to have rocks in your head to get a second jab.

        Immunisation comparison:
        It would be like being in a relationship with a narcissist/serial cheater/wife beater, splitting up, having confirmed that the relationship was unhealthy, and detrimental to your health. You would be warned off such people and be reviled enough to avoid dating anyone with those traits, and least of all going back to that same relationship. Well smart people would be.

        Getting the second shot is like going back a second time, but this time, the narcissist having “won” you back, is capable of more damage.

        The maxim, “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” does not apply with Covid vaccines. It should be reserved for sports and outdoor pursuits where the person has chosen to take a risk, all be it small.

        Parachuting is a risk, something however I do not want to do, but relatively safe in that you have two parachutes, the reserve chute packed by certified professionals. You can join a parachute club and learn to pack your own main chute, but the reserve chute is always packed by certified professionals. Reserve chutes are also periodically unpacked, checked and repacked.

        I understand that the main chute has about a 1 in 1000 chance in failing to open, If you packed your own chute the morning after a hard night on the piss, the odds might not be quite in your favour. But the reserve chute has about a 1 in 2000 chance of failing. So much safer, even if you messed up your own packing.

        Taking the Covid vaccine, could be compared to going skydiving with only parachute, packed by someone convicted of fraud, embezzlement, and having been to court and ordered to pay compensation for people he has injured or killed. You didn’t heed the warnings or warning signs and said “What the hell, everyone else is doing it.”

        If you had a bad reaction to the first shot, this could be compared to having a near miss on your first jump, where you experienced difficulties with your chute opening, and you may have even sustained injuries when the chute opened too late. For a while you have thought you were going to die or your life flashed before your eyes before the ground broke your fall, and your third rib.

        Under these circumstances, getting the second shot,could be compared with going back and taking a second jump with one chute, still packed by the same individual. Fucking nuts.!

        I’ve hear people say, “Well I don’t know anyone who has had an adverse reaction to the shot”, even you you show them Pfizers rap sheet, could be compared to saying, “I don’t care about the convictions this guy has had for killing people with his chutes, I don’t know anyone personally that has been killed or injured.”

        Pure madness.

    Justine Kirby has written a detailed, and lengthy, summary of the Prime Minister’s response – I felt is sums up her really well, this from the perspective of a person who cannot return to New Zealand because of the present set up.

    **PRESS CONFERENCE, Monday November 8, 4PM (Wellington time) (During Which the Prime Minister Adopted “Pragmatic” as Her New Fave Word, Talked About Rules On Going to the Loo, and Severely Mischaracterized Today’s Significant U of Otago Analysis). ** Today’s episode of “The Wellington Show” was the Monday post-cabinet version featuring the Prime Minister and Dr. Bloomfield. Aucklanders were here for the alert level announcement; I was here to see whether any journo questioned the Prime Minister about today’s significant analysis out of the University of Otago (the link to which is in the first comment below).
    Auckland is going to “ease into” the new settings at “step two.” Not to be confused with “level two.” Aucklanders will be able to go out to shops and malls. But they can’t exercise in a gym. So they will have to do outdoor yoga or CrossFit instead. Groups of up to 25 can meet outside. You can go to the library, museum or zoo. “In making this decision, we have … considered the ongoing mental and emotional strain of lockdown on Aucklanders.” Just like the government carefully weighs the ongoing mental and emotional strain of being locked out of your own country when it considers MIQ policy. Just kidding. Waikato decisions will be next week. Auckland is on track to make 90% double vaccinated this month and is expected to move into the new framework (aka traffic lights) then.
    While Delta has tested us, “we are very close to getting back to doing the things we love, like seeing friends or family.” Again, this doesn’t apply to us, does it? Despite New Zealand having, proportionately, one of the biggest diasporas in the world, our Prime Minister never talks to those of us offshore. We are mere spectators in the show designed for the To5M.
    The far north of Northland is going back to level 2. Not to be confused with level 3, step 2. Got it?
    Medsafe has approved boosters for those 18+ at least six months after their second dose. The COVID-19 Technical Advisory Group and the Ministry of Health will now take a look.
    In response to the first journo question, the Prime Minister said that the check-in on Nov 29 is “a pragmatic one” so that if Auckland is close to hitting its 90% targets, the government can make “a pragmatic decision” around the move. It wouldn’t be a press conference without an announcement of an announcement, so the Prime Minster said that the government is looking to confirm next week the date the Auckland border will change. She repeated earlier commitments that, for the summer break and Christmas, Aucklanders will be able to leave Auckland. “We cannot say that Aucklanders need to stay within Auckland at a time of year when traditionally of course they’re being reunited with family and friends.” Again, one approach for those traveling inside New Zealand, and another for those who need to cross the international border.
    Then some bizarre answers on outdoors dining and going to the loo. Why no outdoor dining now? Because there’s a need to be “equitable.” because not all restaurants can offer outdoor dining. So it seems that because some must suffer, all must suffer. Another question referred to a pressing matter that has popped up several times over the last few weeks: If you’re at an outside function at someone’s place, can you go to the loo? The Prime Minister said not to go inside. Dr Bloomfield then did his best to contradict the Prime Minister while not being seen to contradict the Prime Minister, by saying that “sensible arrangements can be put in place to ensure there’s no risk to others when people need to go to the loo.”
    After another reference to “pragmatic,” we finally got to the bit I’d been waiting for: Journo Jason asked about the Otago analysis that showed that the risk of a double vaccinated traveler from most places in the world is less than the risk of going to a supermarket in Auckland, which made the situation “arbitrary and inconsistent,” and recommended that double vaccinated New Zealanders with pre-departure tests be able to travel to Auckland freely. The Prime Minister looked down at her papers, turned a page, and scratched her head. (See pics below.) She had clearly heard about this research and had notes on it. She said she hadn’t had a chance to look at it “in detail” and sent a hospital pass to Dr. Bloomfield. He said he hadn’t seen it, and the risk was low but not zero and, according to the data, the risk of getting COVID at the supermarket was zero.
    Then it was back to the Prime Minster, who was still looking at her notes. She said that we need to recognize that we have one MIQ system and we are changing it. Most experts are saying we still need some checks at the border, including a period of isolation, and it increasingly makes sense for that to be at home. The expectation is that in Q1 we will move into double vaccinated citizens being able to isolate at home. “I don’t think that they’re saying that there should be no measures at the border. What I’ve seen for the most part, for the most part people are arguing that there should be different forms of measures at the border because when you see almost anyone who models what happens overall in outbreaks is that if you have no measures at the border, then you do seed additional cases and that causes your outbreaks to grow quite significantly.” She added that if 20,000 travelers return, even with self-isolation you would have up to 20 cases a week being seeded in the community.
    For those of you who had already reviewed the Otago analysis – which I had not only done this afternoon, but also discussed with some other Grounded Kiwis decisionmakers – you will see what she did there. The Prime Minister just glided over the fact that the report said that most vaccinated international travellers arriving in Auckland do not require quarantine, but only monitoring and testing at most. Now what’s with this 20 cases a week stuff? We are fortunate to have Lucy Telfar Barnard in Grounded Kiwis, one of the authors of the Otago analysis. She did the maths and posted here to say that if 30,000 vaccinated arrivals came from Iceland (the highest risk of countries with less risk than Auckland), that would be an extra 2.3 cases a week. I’ll leave it to you to decide whether the Prime Minister gave viewers an accurate characterization of what the Otago experts published today. (Hint: It’s a “nope.”)
    Then off to other topics for a bit, with yet another reference to being “pragmatic” before the discussion returned to MIQ. A journo referred to whether international arrivals should be allowed home isolation depending on various risk factors and whether it’s cruel to deny people entry when they are fully vaccinated and tested, a point “that is often made by Grounded Kiwis and now by the public health experts at Otago,” before asking whether there is any trigger that might push the government to consider Q1 as the timeline. Let’s stop for just a mo and savor what I believe is the first time that Grounded Kiwis has been mentioned during a presser. But from a journo, as we will never, ever be acknowledged from the Pulpit of Truth itself. After all, why acknowledge the group that’s representing the interests of a large group of people whose interests you choose to steadfastly ignore?
    The Prime Minister’s answer: Epidemiologists caution against seeding outbreaks with further cases, so the advice received is about having checks that don’t add to cumulative risks. That doesn’t mean you can’t change the way you do it. “And we know that one of the biggest issues at the moment isn’t the fact that you have to spend some time isolating, it’s the fact that the number of people we can have doing it is limited.” She continued: “By moving to self-isolation, then, basically, that enables everyone to come home and isolate at home.” It was clear from her tone that, in her view, letting everyone come home was *not *a good thing. “But because that means you’ll have a large scale – up to 20,000 people doing it at once – you still want some protection in place to make sure you’re doing it well, because otherwise that’s potentially hundreds of cases that you’re adding into a potential outbreak.” We need to do it better than it was done at the beginning of the outbreak, she said. Asked whether she detected any change in public sentiment, the Prime Minister said that they’ve already made the decision that MIQ is going to change and the issue at the moment is capacity, it dramatically changes things, and we need to make changes carefully so that the brakes won’t need to be put back on.
    So there’s the To5M and the Ancillary Team of Cumulative Risks to be Managed. Oh, and, like Grounded Kiwis, the Otago folks now probably won’t be on the Prime Minister’s Christmas card list this year.

I saw someone yesterday take out his rubbish bin to his road side curb, in a mask I kid you not. There is a pinch of freedom compared to what you had, but people out there are paranoid. A friend was laughing as she saw a woman in a mask doing her gardening in her own place of residence. If you are thinking of going out and about I am sorry, you will be so disappointed, it is not like the old days of hustle and bustle, its like the damn near end of the world, or we have been hit with bombs only the buildings are still standing. dear leader (Will not use capitals for her) has well and truely fcuked this country and it has taken her such a short time to do it. The plague was her opportunity (funny that) and it all went to plan. It is enough to think it was a certainty that we would have a pandemic (that pandemic bit is a joke ladies and gentlemen) when she got in. Too many coincidences now but so many are not seeing it. Go hard and all out in Wellington today. I hope the capital is swamped with people of all sorts a real display of everyone in New Zealand being pissed off at her.

  16. A Nation wide strike will take place in the USA over 4 days over vaccine mandates. Hopefully the sheer numbers of those refusing over there will make a noticeable effect in services.
    In the meantime Tennessee’s Attorney General Herbert H. Slatery III announced Friday that a coalition of seven attorneys general has filed a lawsuit against “the Biden Administration’s vaccine mandate for private sector employees.”
    Slatery III, along with attorneys general from Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Ohio, Oklahoma, and West Virginia, filed the petition in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, according to a release from Slatery’s office.

  25. I was sat watching TV yesterday and a banging could be heard from the roof of my house, my wife was scared and then people outside started screaming and the car alarms started to go off so we looked outside and could see that it was raining coins, 10c’s 50c’s and $1’s.
    My wife started to freak out “what the hell is going on?!”

  27. I got an email from NZDSOS overnight. They said “Health authorities in New South Wales have just announced that vax passes will expire every 6 months and regular “booster” jabs are the “new normal”.

    So have they got to the new NSW Premier already? Some serious questions need to be asked over in Aussie.

    BTW I have been reading a lot of pieces telling of how super fit athletes are dropping like flies. It makes you wonder if the jab “reacts differently” with fit healthy young people.

    More than four thousand years ago around 2112 BC, King Ur-Nammu of ancient Sumeria gathered his scribes together to dictate a series of royal decrees, all of which were chiseled onto cuneiform tablets.
    A handful of these tablets were discovered and translated in the 20th century, making the Code of Ur-Nammu the oldest known set of laws in the world.
    While most of the King’s laws dealt with criminal matters (i.e. requiring the death penalty for both murder and robbery), some of the rules were actually a very early form of price controls.
    Hundreds of years later, King Hammurabi of Babylon created his own set of laws, known to history as the Code of Hammurabi.
    And while his code is famously known for its principle of ‘an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth’, much of Hammurabi’s code also fixed wages, prices, finance, and commerce.
    For example, the King decreed that any man who defaults on his debts could pay off his creditors by subjecting his wife, son, or daughter to forced labor for three years… regardless of the size of the loan.
    Hammurabi also fixed the price of wholesale grain storage, shipping, divorce, livestock, and even drinks at the local tavern.
    There are also several sections devoted to wage controls; Hammurabi saw fit, for example, that a home builder be paid a certain fee that depended only on the size of the house.
    Similarly, occupations ranging from farm laborers, ox drivers, shipbuilders, herdsmen, skilled artisans, etc. all had their wages fixed by the Code.
    There is also strong historical evidence of price controls in ancient Egypt. The ancient Indian philosopher Vishnugupta advised kings to not only fix prices, but fix the maximum profit for traders and businesses.
    And the Roman Emperor Diocletian’s infamous Edict on Wages and Prices in the early 300s AD was a complete disaster.
    Wage controls, price controls, financial controls, and commercial controls have been vainly imposed by governments for thousands of years. We’ve learned from history that they simply do not work.
    And yet, rather insanely, politicians keep trying these same tactics over and over again, expecting a different result.
    Recently I was visited by a close friend of mine from Argentina who often tells me the grim economic tales of his home country.
    Argentina is in a perennial state of economic chaos; like Venezuela, it went from being one of the most prosperous countries in the world in the 20th century, to one of the most chaotic.
    They’ve confiscated assets, imposed wealth taxes, defaulted on their debt, banned exports, and utterly destroyed their currency.
    In local currency terms, inflation in Argentina is 50%… though no one in their right minds actually holds their savings in Argentine pesos.
    Inflation is now so bad in Argentina that the government recently imposed a set of price controls.
    And my friend informed me that a number of producers, especially in the agricultural sector, have stopped delivering because the government’s price mandate is below their cost of production.

    Then the government simply took on that responsibility themselves, paying people directly to stay home and NOT work.
    Now they’re trying to force businesses to fire tens of millions of people, even in critical sectors like healthcare and transportation, because of their vaccine status.
    Each of these measures is a way for the government to direct the supply and free flow of labor. In other words, they’re essentially wage controls.
    We’ve also seen endless examples of other controls.
    They forced certain places to close (churches, bars) but allowed others to operate (liquor stores, marijuana dispensaries, social justice riots).
    They unilaterally suspended evictions and foreclosures, creating incentives for people to stop paying rent/interest.
    And through the central bank, they’ve pumped hundreds of billions of dollars into financial markets, inflating stocks, bonds, housing, etc. to essentially create asset price controls.
    The specific tactics are different.     Inflation and supply chain dysfunction didn’t happen by accident. They’re the result of fanatical crusaders who never bothered to perform an objective cost/benefit analysis of their wage, price, and commercial controls.

            Events in Australia surely would have alerted thinking people to the fact that protest alone is not enough. I’m not saying that protests are futile by any means, but there comes a point when even the most ‘creative’ protests are either totally ignored by the state’s tame media or just blatantly attacked by the state’s goons.

            It seems to me that TFRC is very well organised and they have an extremely well thought out plan of campaign (starting with ‘picnics’ in open spaces where the goons can’t kettle them, then progressing to marches etc). So I would be very surprised if they haven’t planned for a gradual escalation – and good on them. Obviously it would be far preferable if Mr Molotov isn’t involved (I’m not completely mad) – but it would be foolish not to be chatting with him quietly in the background in case he needs to make an appearance.

  49. Next Monday is going to be interesting here in the Ruapehu District, as many School Teachers are not going to be vaccinated by the Governments deadline of the 15th Nov. All the Teachers at Matiere School including the Principal are refusing to be vaccinated and it could be that up to 75 % of Teachers in all lower King Country Schools may not be either single or double pricked for the Kungflu. (This is now being reported by RNZ and the NZ Herald).

    So come Tuesday next week, it seems many of the Schools here will have to either close or double up on students in classrooms (if they can).

    There is only one reliever in this part of the country to cover all 16 schools (from Primary to Secondary) so that is going to compound the Governments problem.

    This may be a similar issue throughout New Zealand and if so the Education Minister, that smug little tosser, Chris Hipkins, may not have a very good day, come next Tuesday.

      • Sooty, there are a few schools like Materie around here, and while you may be right, the large percentage of pupils around here are Maori and I think it is unlikely they will be happy to be bussed 50+ kms to the next closest school, then 50+ kms home.

        More likely they just will not present for any bus and then become truant and a reasonable drop off in Maori students would not look good. But whatever, unintended consequences will start to come into play because the idiot of an Education Minister has not thought policy through properly.

    • Sometimes it does happen… In local government, it is proven to be highly important to extend and redo work at least twice. Before the earthquake they revamped High Street Mall in Christchurch, and then after they completed it, dug up the mall again to run tram tracks through the mall.

      And post earthquake, further up High Street, they installed TWENTY traffic lights at the intersection with Tuam Street (note, both ends of High Street were blocked off still from earthquake damage! Yes you read that right! Twenty traffic lights at an intersection with traffic that really only ran on one street. Whoever planned and approved that was definitely on drugs.

  60. Just back from the Wellington rally. Only got to the bit outside Parliament. For those who know the area —every square inch of the grounds outside the 3 buildings was covered with people and as the photos showed the crowd flowed out onto the foot paths.

    If I was to sterotype the crowd, I would say the vast majority were Labour voters. As others have said above, Collins has misread the rally. Yes many were anti the jabs and mandates but most of it was to do with getting the country back to having the freedoms we should have. Also a huge anti Ardern element to it!!!

    One of the biggest calls from the crowd was to the MPs ” You serve us !!”

    I’m not sure who was doing the majority of the speaking but he repeated many times that none of the 120 MPs had the guts to come out and talk to the crowd.

    The organisers should feel extremely proud of what they achieved and even more so given it was a week day/work day.

    I do not go down to the CBD much, especially during the week but looking around I kept thinking of Kea’s comments about Wellington being full of idiots because it was hard to find any one , outside of the rally crowd , not wearing a face nappy.

        The bit about serving us —that was the point, we all see they are not serving us now and the chant was to point that out and remind them of their role.
        I think if these sorts of protests / rallies continue it will make a difference. The are effectively like a bad poll for Ardern and I think the sentiment will be reflected in the polls over time.

    The Government will pay up to 90% of losses on festivals that are cancelled

    New financial support will give organisers of large summer festivals greater certainty to proceed, with the government to shoulder the lion’s share of risk during planning stages.

    Economic and Regional Development Minister Stuart Nash has announced an Events Transition Support Scheme designed to give festival organisers greater confidence to plan and incur costs, in the face of public health risks from COVID-19.

    “Organisers of large-scale summer festivals have to make decisions now about whether to proceed as their risk window is closing. There aren’t insurance options in the market to cover this so the government is stepping up as a type of underwriter,” Stuart Nash said.

    “Under the scheme the government will cover 90 per cent of unrecoverable costs for paid, ticketed events with audiences of more than 5,000 vaccinated people, if organisers are forced to cancel or postpone due to COVID-19 public health measures.

  83. Just a comment about the ‘safe’ pfizer jab. My wife and I have had the 2 doses. About 2 weeks after her second injection, my wife started experiencing severe vertigo – she was not able to drive and had some difficulty walking. 6 weeks later and she is still experiencing vertigo, having spent time and $ on doctor’s visits (they thought a ‘virus’), x rays and 2 different specialised physiotherapists. We have noticed a number of people complaining about these vertigo symptoms after receiving their injections. My wife was speaking to a person who works at a local ear clinic and she commented that they had noticed a far higher incidence of vertigo issues in recent months. I personally had one experience of dizziness after my second injection, but nothing else since then. All hard to scientifically prove I’m sure, but I am extremely sceptical of the ‘100% safe’ assurances that we get from the media and ‘experts’. I wonder if ‘they’ actually know, but of course have to toe the party line and support the government’s total commitment to their chosen strategy.

      I have had it from a good source, where the 2 investigating Doctors, just stayed on the same “hymn sheet” and came up with the “same virus” was the problem.
      This despite that the flue vaccine, which had been done just over a month before and covered 4 viral flues.
      No other tests were done, no blood, or urine, or even a stool sample, so how could they declare it was a virus.

      Too many Doctors seem to be into money making, and no real sense of medical practice.

    A nationwide strike against vaccine mandates will take place from Nov. 8 to Nov. 11, according to the main organizer for the walkout, Leigh Dundas, a human rights attorney and public speaker.

    “The Golden Gate Bridge Rally is going to be an epic and unprecedented moment in time. It will mark—on Veterans’ Day evening—a 4-day Nationwide walkout, by rank and file workers everywhere, from blue-collar to white-collar, black, white, yellow, red, every faith, every creed, who are uniquely united despite their differences on one common truth: that vaccine mandates have no place in a truly free society,” Dundas told The Epoch Times.

    The event will kick off in Los Angeles on Monday. The locations of the marches have not yet been disclosed.

    The walkouts involve people from various industries such as trucking and telecom. Air and rail transport workers are not federally allowed to go on strike due to a law passed in 1926 named the Railway Labor Act, but some plan to protest anonymously.

    • I’m not sure I understand it either K ,but I don’t think the borders are opening. Retail other than hospitality and close contact like hairdressers opening but all sorts of rules about numbers in the store, anti social distancing etc.
      The interesting thing is that as an unvaxed person I will be able to shop at present but when the traffic light system comes in I will be banned. So I am not a risk to the vaxed at 80% odd vaxed but I will become a risk once we get to 90%. Sound science behind that not.

    Nagaenthran Dharmalingam was scheduled to be executed for attempting to bring heroin into the country 12 years ago, however he was granted a stay of execution citing low IQ. (BBC)

    The case will be heard again by the appeals court on Tuesday – reportedly on the grounds that Dharmalingam is not of sound mind.

    A medical expert said that Dharmalingam had an IQ of 69, a level recognized as a mental disability in Singapore.
