          The anti-VAX label is a blatant attempt to label and vilify those that do not want the Covid-19 vaccines.

          Vaccines for people can be compared to sex for a woman, where she chooses what, if any, prick she allows to gain access to her body. Just because a woman refuses to have sex with a particular man, does not mean she is a lesbian or man hater.

          Even if there is an artificially manufactured illusion of a world wide population shortage, it is still a woman’s choice, as to if she allows a given prick, or any prick, in her body. An artificially manufactured illusion of a world wide population shortage, does not justify rape of every last woman.

          Under these circumstances, labeling a woman a lesbian, a dyke, man hater, or misanthrope, simply because she defends her right to not be raped with a prick, is a sad indictment on the state of our society. Even more so that our government has become a pimp, selling the right to commit rape to the highest bidder.

    The sensor can recognize light at one-tenth the brightness conventional sensors need, lending itself to a range of industrial applications such as driving and surveillance.

    The sensor’s improved sensitivity comes from another Canon-developed device, a single photon avalanche diode, or SPAD, that receives light. While conventional CMOS sensors, those used in digital cameras, send signals based on the photons received in a certain period of time, SPADs amplify a single photon entering the sensor into a large number of electrons. This allows for object detection even in minute amounts of light.

    The sensor’s improved sensitivity comes from another Canon-developed device, a single photon avalanche diode, or SPAD, that receives light. While conventional CMOS sensors, those used in digital cameras, send signals based on the photons received in a certain period of time, SPADs amplify a single photon entering the sensor into a large number of electrons. This allows for object detection even in minute amounts of light.

    The number of pixels in a sensor is key to image clarity, and Canon’s SPAD sensor boasts 3.2 million, making it the world’s densest, more than three times the number of the company’s conventional sensor. It can recognize the time of light returning in units of less than a nanosecond, allowing for more accurate object recognition.

    Until now, night-vision cameras using infrared rays have been the mainstream for taking pictures in the dark. But the images are in black and white. Conventional high-sensitivity cameras can capture color images in mere moonlight, but the amount of noise increases when it is too dark for the naked eye to see.

    Canon’s factory in Kawasaki will begin mass-producing the new sensor in the second half of 2022. The company plans to install the sensors in its own security cameras that it is to introduce by the end of next year. It will also market the sensors to other companies.

    In 2023, Canon will invest more than 21 billion yen ($185 million) to build a new image sensor plant in the Kanagawa Prefecture city of Hiratsuka, where it plans to gradually increase production of the sensor. The sensor can be made with the production technology used for CMOS sensors and at around the same cost.

    The SPAD sensor measures the distance to an object based on the time it takes for the reflected light from the object to return, and can capture space in three dimensions. It is expected to be used in a range of fields, including LIDAR, a sensor essential for automated driving, and augmented reality.

    Panasonic is also working to increase the number of pixels, and Sony Semiconductor Solutions, a subsidiary of Sony Group, is planning to start shipping SPAD sensors for LIDAR in March 2022.

    Currently, the largest demand for image sensors is for smartphone cameras. In the future, demand for 3D image sensors is expected to grow for use in automated driving and robots. According to Yole Developpement, a French research company, the market for 3D image sensors will triple to $15 billion in 2025 from where it was in 2019.

    Yet in government documents grappling with how to contain the infodemic, this outlandish theory from far-right conspiracy group QAnon was cited as among the misinformation that poses a significant threat to our way of life.

    Moderna CEO Stephane Bancel on Monday said it will take months to develop and ship a vaccine that specifically targets the omicron variant.

    Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla also said shots could be ready in less than 100 days, or slightly over three months.

    “Nice idea, but honestly, it is not practical,” Leong said of a vaccine that specifically targets omicron. “We won’t be able to rush out the vaccines in time and by the time the vaccines come, practically everyone will be infected omicron given this high infectious and transmissibility.”

    Experts don’t know exactly how contagious the highly mutated omicron variant is, but the virus’ spike protein — which binds to human cells — has mutations associated with higher transmission and a decrease in antibody protection.

  68. Interim solution for people waiting for their My Vaccine Pass

    The Ministry of Health will today email a temporary exemption from the requirement to produce a My Vaccine Pass to a small group of people waiting for the individual assistance needed to obtain their pass.

    The temporary exemption is a record of the individual’s request for assistance and has a unique identifier. It can be shown to businesses and organisations that require a My Vaccine Pass. It is valid until 11.59pm on 14 December 2021.

    More than 95% of people who requested a My Vaccine Pass have received their pass and are ready for New Zealand to move to the traffic light system on Friday.

    However there are currently around 70,000 requests for assistance, including people who need to add international vaccinations to their New Zealand record; people who need their name changed; and people whose records have other errors that need to be corrected.

    “While this represents a small percentage of the 3 million My Vaccine Passes that have been issued to date, it is important these individuals are not unfairly disadvantaged when New Zealand moves to the Covid Protection Framework tonight,” said Michael Dreyer, Group Manager National Digital Services.

    “The temporary exemption is a pragmatic measure in response to the unprecedented demand our call centres are facing. We have scaled up our processing team significantly, but it is likely that not every request will be able to be resolved by tomorrow.

    “If you are waiting to hear back from our call centre or service desk, keep an eye on your email including your junk folder. If your My Vaccine Pass is not available today, you will get an exemption email tonight.

    “Over the next few days we will also be phoning people who have outstanding requests with us but who have not provided an email address.”

    The fastest and easiest way to get your My Vaccine Pass is via mycovidrecord.health.nz. People can also obtain assistance in getting their My Vaccine Pass from participating pharmacies, general practices, hauora, and DHB vaccination clinics. We recommend people call ahead or check healthpoint.co.nz or the individual organisation’s website.

    “We will continue to have surge capacity in our call centres and wider processing team through the weekend and early next week,” Michael Dreyer said.

    “If you need to contact our call centre, we want to hear from you but please be patient. Our staff are working hard to help people generate their My Vaccine Pass as quickly as possible.”

    My Vaccine Pass, which is an official record of a person’s COVID-19 vaccination status, will help people access places within New Zealand that require proof of vaccination under the new COVID Protection Framework. The CPF will go live at 11.59pm, 2 December.
