  1. And as I said yesterday there’s only so much the media can cover with the cracks ever-widening with the CoL.

Ardern, already a worldwide media darling, looks set to be swept up into a media frenzy in Melbourne.

For Australian audiences, Key was good news for the competitiveness of the New Zealand economy. The current Government’s regulations and taxes don’t quite convey that message. The New Zealand economy isn’t quite the bright shining light that it once was for Australian investors.

Still operating in the shadow of Key, Ardern will be trying to reassure the business community that her Government also has their interests are heart while courting businesses investor audiences on Thursday. She’s taking the opportunity to remind them about the investment environment in Aotearoa, and is understood to be using the tagline ‘New Zealand is open for business’.

Eventually, the lamestream media cannot always paper over the cracks. When it comes to results that matter, Ardern is completely incompetent. The lamestream media still gushes and swoons over her but little by little those cracks keep coming.

      • the avgas princess doesn’t have to say another word to escape John Key’s shadow.
She is so much like Joan Kirner in her thinking it is uncanny.
Dubbed “mother Russia” she completely screwed Victoria in just a few years.
Their appearance is very different, Bolger caused huge anger with this saying
“You know, they say that the show’s never over until the fat lady sings. Well, I think it was her we heard warming up in the wings this week”.
If you read about Kirner’s time as Premier, you would think these two have had a brain transplant with each other.
Despair NZ if this is half true.
At the moment, Jacinda is controlled by Winston, unleash the full Joan Kirner and the whole country can bend over an take what’s coming from the socialist.
        https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joan_Kirner
Sooty, the media have done this from Day 1, Kirner history proves beyond doubt, people anger will take over..just takes puss and pain.
But you are right, lipstick on a socialist pig.

        • On a point of order the Boeing 757 uses Jet A1 fuel not Avgas. The closest alternative is Avtur so perhaps she could be the Avturd Princess? 🙂

    • the investment environment in Aotearoa
      Says it all.
Who would want to invest in that?
Name change countries that became worse, not to invest in.
      Cambodia = Kampuchea
      Ceylon = Sri Lanka
      Rhodesia = Zimbabwe.
      Burma = Myanmar
Often seems to be a symptom of major problems.

    • This morning Barry Soper was very critical of the airheads attitude to her carbon footprint.

With the regular commercial flights to Aussie she and her minions could have jumped on one.

Instead she took the big RNZAF jet with her motley crew leaving a huge footprint.

Again it’s all about me me me.

Maybe we should brush up on French history and see how they treated their corrupt aristocracy.

  2. One of the things to remember is that during the 19th century, Europeans and Americans living standards drastically improved. This was for both the working and middle classes. Capitalism freed us.

What socialists like to pretend happened is that we were shat upon by evil capitalists. What they failed to understand is that pre-capitalist Europe wasn’t a pleasant place.

For example, only under capitalism did child labour end. Sure it didn’t happen overnight, but children in pre-capitalist societies were required to work. That was the economic reality. Once there was enough wealth in our countries could child labour ending become a reality.

The same goes for slavery in all its guises (e.g. serfdom). Capitalism made slavery redundant.

This is the dilemma for socialists. Capitalism freed what they considered were their constituents. What many socialists have realised is they need to wreck capitalism before their so-called constituents would beg for the socialist utopia. IOW, socialists have been working on destroying capitalism for well over a century.

The religion of environmentalism appears to be their strongest tool in that aim…even though socialist countries have an appalling record of environmental concern is irrelevant. Our complicit media gloss over the socialist environmental record and our socialist public teachers aren’t going to teach actual history.

Thus, we get the stupidity we’re seeing: bring capitalism to its knees and make everyone but the elites poor.

    • So true Colinxy. Your last line is the sole strategic objective for the current wave of marxists. They lost the battle of ideas, so they’ve escalated to seeking to destroy the better idea. In the future, people will ask
“how come fascism was ushered in under the guise of socialism in the 1930s and then again in 2019, didn’t they learn the first time?”

They are just staying here to get the dole, dpb, health, education or pension.

    • I’d love to believe Morrison would but I doubt it. Ardern brings out orgasms in the Aussie media. They just gush at her every utterance.

Morrison would just be wasting political capital in pointing out reality. He’d be on a hiding to nothing: all pain, no gain.

  6. So more CO2 is actually good for the environment – bugger!

Anyone who was paying attention to biology at school knows that CO2 is THE essential ingredient for photosynthesis – and therefore is the basis for all life on Earth!

Interesting therefore that the globalist NWO is trying to convince us to get rid of CO2, aren’t they interested in life on Earth? Here is a very NZ relevant example with Pinot Noir grape vines. They’re grown in controlled environments, one with the current 380 ppm CO2 and the other with a massive planet destroying, fireball of destruction-level of 1000ppm. No one who has even a basic understanding of science would be surprised to see that the cultivar grown in higher CO2 levels was massively healthier and more developed.

If we want to green-up the planet then we should be trying to INCREASE levels of CO2, not decrease it. More proof (as if we needed any) that the cultist Marxist left does not have our best interest in mind, they laughing behind their hands that they’ve convinced us that an inert gas essential to life on Earth is a poison.

We’re being lied to, all day, every day.

  7. He just keeps on Winning.

Support for US President Donald Trump increased slightly among Republicans after he lashed out on Twitter over the weekend in a racially charged attack on four minority Democratic congresswomen, a Reuters/Ipsos public opinion poll shows.

The national survey, conducted on Monday and Tuesday (local times) after Trump told the lawmakers they should “go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came,” showed his net approval among members of his Republican Party rose by 5 percentage points to 72 percent, compared with a similar poll that ran last week.

By criticising liberal members of the House, Trump is “doing exactly what Republicans want him to do,” Hutchings said. “He’s taking on groups that they oppose.

  8. Saudi Arabia’s king is paying for 200 people affected by the Christchurch mosque shootings to fly to Mecca.

Salman bin Abdulaziz issued a directive this week stating Middle Eastern country would host victims and their families during the Hajj season next month.

Hajj is an annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia, the holiest city for Muslims. The pilgrimage, one of the five pillars of Islam, must be carried out by all adult Muslims at least once in their lifetime if they are physically and financially capable.

  9. One thing I always liked about radio news was its slight superiority to TV news. Now, I’m not so sure.

1- Renaming Basin Reserve to honour wimmmin.
2- Trumps supposed racist tweets against WOMEN OF COLOUR.
    3-Redefining what constitutes transgenderism.
4-Should the All Blacks be playing a player with a historical domestic violence charge?
5-Should the government protect Maori from climate change?
6- Putting furniture manufacturers on notice that the government will regulate if they don’t change the foam they use.
7- Regulating drones ( instead of prosecuting fuckwits misusing drones)

There’s a whole pile more riveting news tidbits that I forget. Yep, everything I don’t need to know. Some real news would be appreciated.

        • You clearly do not really remember Tony Marryatt who was CEO of CCC from 2007 to 2013.

He was good mates with Bob Parker who was not lily white (can we still say that, or will it trigger people? )
          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tony_Marryatt

He was known for accepting a $70,000 payrise in 2011 just after the Earthquake with his salary going from $470k to 540k pa.
What is not widely known is that CERA – the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority – set up for 5 years – covered 90% of the work of the normal council in its first years.
CCC itself was virtually stripped of authority.

Under Marryatt the Council lost its right to issue building consent. It was a cluster ….
Marryatt nonetheless received a 500k ex gratia settlement when he left in 2013.
…easy to find stories on him, he was controversial.

Sadly ChCh remains the Village of the Damned with a Pommy administrator coming here with sad-arse English ideas – their police and universities preceded ours with societal damage and their councils have been mindless Marxists for more than 50 years.
          FUBAR.

          • You are addressing your contempt at the wrong person. Who approved this appointment. Surely the CCC would have done their job and checked out this person. Or did they pay some employment agency to find this person?

            0

            0

            • Marryatt was previously 11 years CEO at Hamilton.
He was part of the inner circle to select the V8s for Hamilton.
Now I enjoy the V8 street races and went to Wellington in 1987 for the racing then.
However it should be done in a way that there is a positive cost/benefit i.e. gross returns are greater than gross costs and on plan, given blow outs, cost should be 70% minimum of expected revenue for an anticipated net cost of zero.
I was involved in a case in the 1990s where Ernst Young had done a completely unicorn-land cost/benefit of an event; and yet large organisations will get a Big 4 name on the document as they have the professional indemnity insurance. Think Enron.

In Hamilton the initial costs for the V8s were proposed as $7 million Council/ratepayers money but were more than four times that.
This was not known when Marryatt was appointed CEO of CCC in 2007.
Interestingly the person who replaced Marryatt at Hamilton CC was Michael Redman to whom I refer to below.

Marryatt was appointed in early 2007 when Garry Moore was Mayor.
Later in the year Moore was replaced in L.A. elections by Bob Parker.

I do not know how or specifically by whom Marryatt was recruited and approved in 2007.
              you say:-
‘Surely the CCC would have done their job’
Well, I believe there are ever diminishing returns on that one!

When they are on about :-
              >climate change but have raw sewage going into the harbour ; or
              >banning free speech; or
              >making formal complaints against the elected POTUS; or
              > Voting to be TPPA free ; or
              > wanting to appoint unelected Maori with voting rights on Council

              then
They are way off doing their core job.

              0

              0

          • The worse thing about Marryat is he was an improvement over the previous “town clerk” Lesley McTurk.

    • The simple economics of running a Local Authority (Council).
You strike the rates and by an large the income for the next year is known.
No bad debts- someone does not pay, take a lien on the property.
      Simples.

Now cut your coat according to your cloth.
You know what your income is, make the expenditure fit.
One of the few things that throws it out:
      A little dog dies.
In other words if a dog dies there is (usually) a partial refund of dog registration -less admin fee perhaps 25%. Bugger, reduced income. How hard its that?

The role of a Mayor is to be a Chairman of the Board.
Set policy and cut a few ribbons. You don’t even need to kiss babies and in this inflammatory age that is unwise anyway.
Since Dalziel and all her unwashed lefty stablemates have not been in the real world, the Chairman of any Public Company will receive far less remuneration than the CEO, while the Chairman (or any director) has legal liability potential far greater than that of an employee (the CEO).
If they had been in the real world they would understand that but they avoid the real world and this is the result.

eg There is a nasty failure of a critter, Michael Redman.
He was elected Mayor of Hamilton in 2004. The salary from memory was about 90k pa at that time. The CEO salary was about 250 k pa. He bailed out in early 2007 before his first term was up to become CEO.
      Ethics don’t feed families, boy!
He then jumped out of that role to be CEO of ATEED in 2010 where his past failings caught up.
He was sent packing in Oct 2011.
He is currently CEO of the abysmal failure of a footy team called the Auckland Blues.
Redman was the one who pushed the massive loss making V8 races on Hamilton and was trying the same in Auckland when he was ‘moved on’.

He jumped from Mayor to CEO of Hamilton for a salary rise. You might want to think about the correctness of being involved in selecting yourself for a role that pays 2.5 times the remuneration!

      • Ask the current Tauranga city Mayor. He managed to bring in the useless nasty ex Wellington CEO and my goodness what a mess the council is. The stories are legend. Fortunately, we have a tough contender this year in Tenby Powel. disciplined and no nonsense. The fallout will be catastrophic for many of the upper echelon and the soon to be ex councillors.

Staff are completely demoralised and are many of the ratepayers. Management by bullying and using lawyers was the hallmark of a half a million CEO who couldn’t write his own emails.

This will solve the whole mediocre men putting on a dress to win women’s sports because there would be no gendered sport.

  12. Toxic Masculinity – Cricket and Women’s soccer

It’s been a fascinating 7-10 days in sport for testing the philosophy underpinning identity politics.

We’ve had widespread examples of what the feminazis refer to as ‘toxic masculinity’ at the cricket world cup. Firstly, there was the most magnificently entertaining and emotional cup final of all time in any sport (thanks toxic masculinity). Then we had the humility of Kane Williamson in refusing to whinge (toxic – you’ll all agree). Then we hear about Ben Stokes (once falsley accused of gay-bashing (while defending two gays who were being abused)) begging the umpires to not give the four that won the match (toxic in the extreme – I’m sure you’ll agree).

By contrast, we saw how the feminists deal with similar circumstances. The most hated team in world sport – the USA women soccer team – they sure showed how ‘sisters’ compete in a non-toxic fashion together – that ‘tea-sipping’ celebration against the England girls was so non-toxic and intersectionally respectful. There was no entitlement and toxicity when Megan Rapinoe brayed that “she deserves this”. She also showed what real respect for womenkind was when she drukenly referred to women as “bitches” before she went out on what was expected to be a predatory rampage visited upon the women of New York – but she kindly advised locking up one’s daughters. Imagine if a male had uttered those words – he’d have been Weinsteined faster than you can say “skanky hypocritical ho”.

Yes, yes. In the week a female black 007 was announced, women have definitely put men in the shade where toxic treatment of other women is concerned.
