Is Simon Bridges Leadership Safe?

Newshub is speculating on whether Simon Bridges leadership of the National Party is safe.    The latest poll has Simon down on 5%, equal with Judith.  Are the claims of National MP’s openly approaching Newshub true, or is this wishful thinking by a couple of disgruntled staff complaining about Bridges handling of recent events.  Has he failed to ignite his MP’s and more importantly his party’s support base.

But others say Bridges is safe – for now – and that Collins doesn’t have the numbers to roll him.

Those are damning quotes from MPs, but it doesn’t necessarily mean Bridges will face a challenge at a caucus meeting.

Newshub has been told if it does happen, it could move quickly or in the next three to four months.

Newshub has also been told it could happen at caucus, or it could just be executed by a group of MPs behind closed doors.

    • That was my feeling too. Simon is in Tauranga today. He needs to immediately fly to Wellington and call an emergency party meeting to deal with these rumours of dissent. Leaving it to fester over Easter and he will be sunk.

  1. Why do they think that Simon is such a threat? Shouldn’t the leftie media be happy? or do they just want to be able to claim a scalp. I am not quite sure why anyone would be putting their hand up for the job at the moment. If Simon really thought that Judith was a threat why would he allow her to be spokesperson on AM and on other matters. I assume that the leader has a say in such matters.

Amazing how Simon is expected to be all over everything and Jacinda is allowed to not know anything about what is going on in her caucus or government.

I believe that the National caucus has more smarts than rolling a leader who has, in the grand scheme of things, done little wrong.

I hope the staffer that took it upon himself to delete the material on the 15th is fired, if it was purely in reaction to the events in CH CH, did he have the mandate to do that, and why is it even a thing?

  2. Anything written by Tova O`B is immediately suspect.
That said, they may well be correct only time will tell, but Simon and the Nats need to find a way around the medias de-platforming and misrepresenting of their points of view.

  3. Bridges is a threat. Because of his Maori background, he is automatically a contender in the Oppression Olympics. To Leftards, this is unacceptable as it goes against their narrative.

The Leftards and the Media, but I repeat myself, haven’t grown tired of using the phrase “Pale, male and stale” and whilst Bridges is there, they cannot use their little ditty.

The Left are obsessed with skin colour and genitals but they’ll have you believe they are neither racist nor sexist.

  4. Good to see you nats squirming at the thought of your leader being toast by Easter. Jacinda has more important thing to do today like reveal the tax that will ease the tax burden on the workers. CGT is going to be a game changer. Suck it up losers.

    • Like all of Labour’s other policies? Why are you so concerned about Simon? National was always happy for Labour’s inept leaders to remain in situ, as an incoming might change the dynamic.

Always seems to me that there is an active campaign against Simon, and I can only think of one reason for that.

I do think that Simon is a gentleman though, and it is hard to take that out of someone. but anyone is going to look ‘mean’ to Jacinda, because you know she is trying her best, God save us. Would a corporate put her at the head of a company? It is not even as if there is a strong team behind her.

    • Losers applies to those who want free money and aren’t prepared to work for it. A CGT is nothing but redistribution from the productive to the non-productive. Winners have jobs and look after themselves.

        • Exactly! I’ll be putting a swift boot in both my kids’ butts if i ever hear them mention the word “dole”in this household lol! I am raising them up to understand WE are the Govt, and THEY have not one cent that does not come out of our pockets.

    • Hold your whinnying until after your beloved Cindy releases the CGT policy today. The CGT announcement will be a rolled back damp squib for the CoL compared to what they were promising under their warped ideology. LOL
You are just another lefty throwing squirrels. ?

  5. I know a lot of people don’t rate Simon. However, he never gets any positive media press, while the MSM are hyperventilating over Saint Allahu Akbar Jacinda and her every eyelash flutter. I don’t think a leadership change is going to do the Nats any good at this stage as the MSM will continue to castigate whoever is in charge. The election is 18 months away. Labour and their pinup girl will fuck up many more times and economic issues are going to start biting the closer we get to the election. Rather sit tight, show unity and start working on definite policies that will make a difference. An overhaul of the stupid gunlaws would be a good start.

    • Have National re-posted their poll on the UN migration pact that was deleted off their website? If not, why not. Surely National would have had all their data backed up so easy to just reload? Don’t allow the massacre by an ignorant Aussie to become an excuse for not standing up for what is right. The UN migration pact was sold to NZ as an an option, not as a legal requirement. We were lied to?

        • I think it would have been seen as supporting Tarrant, when National are back in perhaps they can tinker with the categories. Perhaps people will hold on to their guns albeit illegally waiting for that. If I was National I would be waiting for this second tranche of restrictions and make my play then, even the public that might have agreed with the knee jerk reaction, might not agree to further restrictions, so it can still become an election issue.

  6. But it will create a precedent, and I’m under no illusion what their intentions are. Flood the West with the 3rd world. That’s the entire damn thing in a nutshell. It should have been a straight up No Way. Surely NZ First’s voters will make Winnie pay dearly for signing it?

  7. No cause for panic trendsetters it is just more standard Labour MO to ramp up the attack on Simon Bridges prior to the release of bad news ahead of a long weekend during a recess. In fact he stole their thunder at the start of the week by saying to be ready for the raft of new taxes to be announced on Thursday. Most have polarized on just CGT but there a lot more than that recommended by the TWG. It is critical that National hold the line as the COL continue to self destruct. The COL are working hard to dig themselves another hole to match their fiscal hole that is bigger than the previous modest predictions. Meanwhile they are again driving the NZ$ down to their previous low of September 2018. The fun is just getting started like all their problems starting to accumulate. LOL

  8. Labour Junior Conference and Sexual misbehavior, I am so disappointed (not surprised) that MSM have not reported anything about the case which does have wide public interest that I have written an e-mail to the North Shore District Court asking for information. Will post any reply on KG & YSB.

  9. Bridges is a social conservative & as such I have to swallow copious helpings of dead rat to support him.

But I’m starting to enjoy the taste since the MSM double down with their campaign. If they’re against him he has to be the man for the job.

    • Me too nasska. Without QT there is not much traction to gain as the msm twist everything in any interview. Besides, National’s not required to do much when Cindy and co are busy digging a deeper hole for themselves every day!

      • You’re right. It’s too early for policy announcements as there’s no possible purpose to tying National to any action eighteen long months out from an election. What it’s not too early for is knocking some of the bullshit & glitter off the PriNZess.

Currently she’s exposed on various fronts……eg the CGT backdown & her constant lying. Her reserves of political capital will be starting to wane amongst the swinging centrists who decide elections.

Simon isn’t a nice guy……he didn’t become a police prosecutor by being so. It’s his call as to when the gloves come off but to my thinking right now seems about spot on!

        • Whatever the timing I think s record of lies and fails is appropriate and suggest our host consider creating a Failometer & a Lieometer with a indicator similar to Kiwiblogs Tree and House build deficit. The comments and records will undoubtedly be voluminous so our host may need unlimited cloud storage!! Willing to help with design & strategy for use at election time.
