Amazon founder Bezos’ divorce final with $38 billion settlement

(Reuters) – Amazon.com Inc founder Jeff Bezos’ divorce from his wife of 25 years, MacKenzie Bezos, was finalized by a Seattle-area judge on Friday, paving the way for her to receive $38.3 billion worth of Amazon stock, Bloomberg reported.
In April, Amazon, the world’s biggest online retailer, said in a filing that 4% of its outstanding stock or 19.7 million shares would be registered in MacKenzie Bezos’ name after court approval of the divorce.
The couple announced their plan to divorce in a joint Twitter statement in January, causing some to worry that Jeff Bezos could wind up with reduced Amazon voting power or that he or MacKenzie would liquidate large position.
He retains a 12% stake worth $114.8 billion and remains the world’s richest person, Bloomberg said. MacKenzie Bezos has said she would give him voting control of her shares.
MacKenzie in May pledged to give half her fortune to charity to join the “Giving Pledge,” a campaign announced by billionaire Warren Buffett and Microsoft Corp co-founder Bill Gates in 2010.
Obscene amounts of money.
Before my father got remarried and bought his fiancee a ring, she told me that there was such a thing as too big a diamond, at such a statement I scoff lol.
I have a couple of decent family pieces so it was a bit of a dig at them, but seriously does any woman really think that? So can one really have too much money?
My ex wife told me “the diamond tells her how much I love her”. It should have been fair warning.
If she’s at a loose end there’s a good retired Kiwi cocky who still has a couple of his own teeth who’s available & willing to help her distribute the rest of her fortune.
Maybe she’d consider a time-share arrangement with Mrs Nasska. 🙂
Mrs nasska could well be willing to share the burden lol.
I don’t think keeping your teeth in a jar by the bed really qualifies as having your own teeth,,,, 😉
She looks like she needs to spend a bit more on groceries.
Big game now is who can catch the snatch.
A court case on such things currently underway with one of our own.

I guess the NZ property would need to be sold if it was indeed structured to get around the OIA.
And one could assume charge more for their services than can be justified.
I don’t know what she saw in him in the first place.
That sounds like fairly fair settlement deal.
A win win for everyone.
I always remember watching Amazon starting up, and for years they never made any money.
He kept appearing at meetings with sales charts, saying they were going to make money.
i think they keep putting all the profits back into the business.
It works on very low margins.
Nothing wrong with that, if you can maintain your high turnover.
does it make any money now?
Yes, and a lot. It makes a lot of money in the cloud computing business (they pioneered it). I believe, alongside Apple, Amazon.com is worth in excess of $1USD trillion (though Apple may have dropped).
And they’ll keep growing.
I mean she is doable, so I suppose she’ll be in hot demand now, obviously for her smile and personality, ( the pair of them), real men don’t care whether a prospective mate has money.
