What’s wrong with the above photo?

The headline of this story on Stuff shows just how woke they are. Aotearoa is not the name of our country YET. I notice they have the correct name in the rest of their story about the earthquake.

  1. The media, all of it are trying to get the name changed!
They were dead against the flag.
When the Queen pops her clogs the republic sbouting will start, new name, flag etc!
I don’t want that question raised while Helen Clark is still alive!

  2. The maori for over a century and a half only referred to Niu Tirini.

For example, if Aotearoa was the name of New Zealand that was utilised prior to the missionaries coming along, can anyone explain to me why both the Declaration of Independence and the Treaty of Waitangi use the words “Niu Tirini” not “Aotearoa”? Has our belief in Percy Smith created another myth, which we are now codifying in legislation?

So the maori did not refer to a cloudy land.

  3. Lodge a media council complaint for inaccuracy. Takes 5 minutes to do, but they must respond. So you cost them a few dollars in an employee’s time (petty, but fuckit, they’re woke nutters) and might even get a change made.

    • Dear Janine Fenwick,

I am writing to you about a story published on stuff.co.nz; under the Media Council principle of Accuracy, Balance and Fairness. My interest is primarily in the accuracy of the article linked below:

      https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/119046956/reports-of-54-magnitude-earthquake-throughout-aotearoa

The headline of the article and the URL that will be included in search engine results references Aotearoa. This is an inaccurate name for New Zealand. Both our Declaration of Independence and the Treaty of Waitangi reference Nu Tirani and similar stylings, not Aotearoa. Legally, our country is known as New Zealand. There was debate on this previously when the National Library of New Zealand Bill was being read back in 2003.

I would appreciate it if you would correct the headline and URL of the article to accurately and correctly reference the name of our country. There is much to be proud of as New Zealanders and we should celebrate the two, actual names of our country.

      Regards,

For Stuff, all you need to do is email Janine Fenwich

  4. My local council Tauranga City did a survey on street names last year
And they said the 87% of people wanted more Maori street and park names.

    I do not belive that!

Just give me a few weeks and I’ll start to fix it.

    • Was in New World and the local garage yesterday. Not one of the mags on display had any cover photo of Cindy. I wonder, has the gloss worn off or are they waiting for something?
