Suicide and Mike King

Watched the best interview ever on Suicide. Mike King on the AM show this morning saying it like it is.

Liabour’s only answer is to chuck more money at the problem. Cindy is refusing to put a limit on the numbers. In other words she is ducking the issue and doesn’t want to say anything.

King says defining the problem by race and status in the community is just criminal. The death of Greg Boyd who was white, rich and well known, showed suicide has no boundaries. To say maori need more money put aside for them is just rubbish. The so called experts are only in it to get as much money for their pet projects.

If what they were doing with all our money was working, why has the suicide rate gone up?

  1. Actually you are right on the money there Kea. Carl Jung predicted as much in 1958 and that was before the advent of social media and political correctness. The ability for true self understanding and reflection is being eroded by the constant bombardment of the meaningless and the trite.

  2. The problem is that suicide is caused by some many things many of which will never be understood or controlled
    Lack of self esteem
    Lack of job or money
Financial problem (business or farm debt collapse)
    Relationship breakup
    Bullying
    Health problem
    and probably a few more.

  3. You mentioned Greg Boyd – I went to school with his mother, Jean, who is white, and knew his father, Colin, very well, who is Maori. They are very good people – hard working and honest and good company. Greg was battling depression.

  4. This is the same fucking hypocrite that turned to Labour because National wouldn’t do what he wanted, excuse me National had a plan and would have a difference but Mike King decided to play politics and became a crybaby.

    • I’m of the opinion that over the years Mike King has gotten better; not necessarily linearly but he used to be a complete arsehole, now he’s just a partial arsehole.

Back in the day, due to my eclectic hobbies, I was invited by King onto one of shows…which I turned down without hesitation (I thought he’d do his usual routine of mocking people who didn’t conform to his expectations). He’s certainly less of a jerk these days.

  5. Ardern , who was previously ranting that she would end suicide in New Zealand with a ‘Government of Kindness’, has now has 600 or so wake up calls!
*Unless she lied to us about being personally notified of EVERY suicide??

    • We all know the answer to that. She lied. That’s her default position on anything, always has been always will be.

    • Far from ending suicide I suspect that Ardern will be directly responsible for an increase in suicide among those currently having their lawfully acquired property confiscated and vandalized and their sport, interests and way of life destroyed for no good reason. There are many blameless individuals who are very unhappy and depressed at the way this country has lurched so rapidly in entirely the wrong direction myself included though I am not by any means suicidal…..just yet.
New Zealand is truly becoming “No Country for Old (white) Men.”

  6. Zero road deaths.
    Zero suicide.
    All ‘aspirational’ bullshit.
These COL lot are snake oil salesmen/women/critters and idiots are still buying it.
    ..and it is costing lives.

They don’t care about making it better.
They don’t even care about the mental wellbeing of people in their own sphere as they allow sex pests to wander their corridors and cover it up while holding the right to make the laws of the land.
There are several NZ Ministers of the Crown right now who are actively involved in sexual assault cover us.

    The main article above says:
“If what they were doing with all our money was working”

Well here is part of the problem.
There are just too many organisations vying for money and empire building with that money.
They apply for MOH funding and now there is even more money in that pot.

Also within it are some real dodgy types. I have an immediate family member who was into the counselling scam. She is manipulative and controlling and once she got ‘clients’ they never got better or moved on. She is/was controlling and evil. It was all about having people under you. Playthings. I do not talk to this person and have not in two decades.
    That is just one.
Just like sex predators took roles in Mental Health institutions in NZ in the 1960s and 1970s these predators are paid to prey but they get away with it because ‘they do good works’ and ‘work with difficult people’ and so on.

This is one list off a newspaper listing of ‘help’ agencies. In one article. Far too many.
Australian media show a maximum of 4 contact points.

There are too many and it needs to be rationalised.
There are over 27,000 registered charities in NZ of whom many should not qualify.
IMO they should get 5 year-only registration and re-apply showing a scheduled set of delivered benefits for the last 5 years. The extra cost of admin would be worth it as these 'charities' soak up tax dollars.

    27,000 + so called Charities.
I defy anyone to prove we need that many.

  7. King’s comment about the race division regarding suicide is very interesting. A couple of years ago I was at a fundraiser for the Rodney Lifeline group. The point was the most suicides on the Auckland region were amongst teenagers in the affluent Rodney area. The teenagers were spoilt with money etc from parents, but had solo parents or two family parent situations, were largely feeling ignored, bullied etc. Reality irrespective of race, people were not listening to their children!

  8. Sorry –off topic, but what has happened to the “have your say” thread ? For me it is frozen at what it was a few hours ago. The last post is Kea’s about CNN and it shows 2mins ago which I know is wrong as I saw it several hours ago. The reply button is not showing. Everything else on the site seems OK.

  9. The good news in the latest suicide stats is that the rate and number for Europeans has gone down
The news is that the rate for Maori and Pacific Islanders has gone up.
