A volcano has erupted on the Italian island of Stromboli, killing one person and sending frightened tourists fleeing.

The victim is a male hiker who was hit by a falling stone, while other people were injured.

The navy has been deployed for a possible mass evacuation, with 70 people already evacuated.

The volcano is one of the most active on the planet and has been under a regular state of eruption since 1932.

“Unfortunately one man is dead, there are a few injured, but none seriously,” emergency worker Calogero Foti told Italy’s Rai television.

    • All that CO2 will mean a bonanza for the first government to figure out how to tax it as our fault.

“Yet another high-impact eruption took place at Manam volcano, Papua New Guinea on Friday June 28 — following on from the previous day’s explosion to 12.2 km, and the general uptick which began last year.
A thick volcanic ash plume, rising to at least 50,000 feet (15.2 km) above sea level, was spotted by the Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Darwin at 06:59 UTC on June 28 using HIMAWARI-8 satellite imagery. The eruption comes hot on the heels of yesterday’s ejection to 40,000 feet (12.2 km).

Particulates ejected to altitudes above 32,800 feet (10 km) –and into the stratosphere– have a direct cooling effect on the planet. “

  1. Interesting that this volcanic activity, in recent days Raikoke, Ulawun, Manam, Sabancaya and now Stromboli have all blown their tops, is exactly as predicted due to changes in the Sun’s magnetic field. Combine that with changes in the Jet Stream and unusual weather events all over the place and it is beginning to look like the climate emergency little Greta was warning us about is real except of course that it’s nothing to do with carbon dioxide and warming, we are all going to freeze our arses off over the next few years if we don’t starve to death. Welcome to the GSM.

  2. More fucking Bullshit from Stuff

    https://www.stuff.co.nz/environment/114005845/zero-carbon-bill-why-the-next-decade-is-crucial-for-a-safe-climate

However, linking back to the volcano, there seems to be a correlation and now a possible reason between Solar Minima and volcanic eruptions

So Jacinda the saviour of the world is dreaming if she thinks declaring a “Climate Emergency” is going to achieve anything. Increased volcanic eruptions add to the cooling effect of cloud nucleation because of cosmic radiation getting through as the solar wind is reduced. It’s a double whammy. And she and her do gooder fucktards can do sweet fuck all about it. (That’s such precise, concise and accurate academic writing….)

    • It is almost beyond belief that Stuff, which purports to be a national news service, is so out of touch with what is actually going on in the world that they still continue to publish this thoroughly debunked nonsense. We are so badly served in this country by our media, thank goodness for the internet.
