Mexico meets migrants at southern border with armed forces.

Mexican soldiers, armed police and migration officials blocked hundreds of migrants after they crossed the border from Guatemala in a caravan into southern Mexico on Wednesday, and detained dozens of them, a witness from a migrant aid group and an official said.

The Mexican response in the border town of Metapa, which included dozens of soldiers, marked a toughening of the government’s efforts to curb the flow of mainly Central American migrants, said Salva Cruz, a coordinator with Fray Matias de Cordova.

“That many sailors and military police, yes, it’s new,” Cruz said, by WhatsApp, from Metapa, in the southern border state of Chiapas, where the vast majority of migrants from Central America cross into Mexico. Many are asylum seekers fleeing violence and poverty in Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador.

  1. There must be something that those ‘immigrants’ can do for their own filing countries, not breeding would be a start, fight for their country. Survival is a strong incentive to want better, but not by taking from someone else. Human beings are not an endangered species in any of its forms or colourations..

  2. There in lies the problem.
    Marxist and dictators.
Of course people will want to leave for a better place and even Trump acknowledges that. He is simply making the point that you don’t come in a legal way you are not going to be allowed in.

If someday some one manages to fix their broken countries then migration may even reverse.

  3. Mr Trump seems to have the knack of getting a result in things diplomatic (eg Mexico, North Korea) that the political classes of both sides cannot even contemplate.

That and the fact that he is the most peace-orientated president since GHW, if not the great Ronnie must drive the Seppo wanna-bes mad.

  4. Latin America has been a corrupt shitty place since like forever. They fall for the same phony politicians and dictators every time. Trump should build a wall on Mexico’s southern border, so no pesky Congress to worry about. You could bribe their politicians with a few candy bars lol.

  5. Don’t you think those poor refugees have a right to a better life. Can you imagine living in those countries that are at war with each other? Show some compassion here.

    • How do you suggest that we do that? By allowing them into countries that do not share their values, do the people of those countries practice birth control? Knowingly bring a child into the world with a high probability of death is irresponsible in my opinion, and how isn’t it child abuse. My own cultural forebears have had similar behaviours in the past, but have modified them. Why shouldn’t they expect the same of others?

People do not have the right to have children that they have no realistic way of supporting. It is child abuse, and a child should not be used to get preferential treatment. As many children are the result of ‘thoughtless’ sex, not from an actual desire to have children, it is easily sorted and life would be better for the parents.

Of course people feel compassion, but should that extend to killing oneself or ones family, or ones culture, while others take no personal responsibility for their own circumstances?

    • The USA already has millions of illegals as it is. They are parasites on the US taxpayer, who have plenty of problems of their own. Just like here in NZ, we don’t want our standard of living diluted to the lowest common denominator. We don’t want 3rd world diseases long eradicated in the West infecting our kids. As I’ve said before, the poor make up 80% of this world. Those in the 20% need to protect what we have, and ruthlessly if necessary. The world is not always a nice place.

      • Well I met a few there last year and without exception the ones I met were polite, working hard and had aspirations for their education and lives that many Americans (or Kiwi’s) ever have. Several had come a long way.
They were working driving ubers, in hotels and other places.
Whilst the country doesn’t want too many and I have no doubt that some are just bad buggers that’s no different to some of the Americans I saw lying round the streets in the middle of the day.

      • Simply pointing out that they are not all bad and as in NZ many work harder and are a better citizen that some born here who would be better deported to some island where they had to survive on their own. Gang member for instance.
