The brazen bull or the Sicilian bull was the most agonizing punishment technique recorded in the history of humankind.
Imagine a pressure cooker the size of a bathtub. You’d be placed inside and the lid latched. A fire is kindled underneath. You soon begin boiling in your own sweat and blood. As you scream at the top of your lungs from unspeakable pain inside the bull, your voice would travel through a serious of pipes at the bull’s neck and nostrils that would create the bellowing of an infuriated bull. Music to the torturer’s ears.
The brazen bull was the creative work of the Greeks. I guess if Greeks can give us original thoughts on philosophy and political thought, putting foundation in the Western world for democratic practices, they would also bless us with the most horrific practices that make “tarring and feathering” and “milk and honey” a child’s play. It’s said that when the trap door was reopened, the charred victim’s bones often shined like “jewelry.”
William Wallace met a painful end when he was hung drawn & quartered. The film Brave Heart glossed over his final minutes.
I guess having ones intestines slowly pulled out and rolled up in front of your eyes is character building….
Nothing says “I’m a MAN!” more than disembowelment lol. At least the King died knowing Wallace had shagged his daughter-in-law.
Now, a 12-inch table saw could be easily used as a torture device….:)
Get off the grass.
Having to listen the the speeches of the harridan will have you begging for the bull while calmly explaining that disembowelment is but a minor impediment.
Oh, and a chainsaw would be far more fun than a table saw.
Makes me think of an early scene in Scarface when a still-naive Al Pacino nearly suffers that fate during a coke deal gone bad. Brutal!
