No, I am not lost.

Sold the Takacat and old drone on TM last month. Bought this new one with the proceeds and have been trying it out. First flight was 160 metres, no fish. The second flight was 600 metres, also no fish.
The Daiwa electric reel is the only way to go. It has 800 metres of line.
But was very pleased with the new drone. No calibration dance is required.
Off to the other coast next week.

good shit Ed, stupid boy has an electric reel lined up for a xmas prezzie to myself 🙂 i have drone envy too ya rich prick, must be cuz of all that crypto//
i guess that youre beside the sea somewhere!
as for the no fish have you tried mixing up your bait selection? what works one place wont the next.
prawns are my favourite (whole uncooked/unpeeled, just cut em in half)
fresh fish is my next pick, then salted mussels and lastly stinky old squid.
but hey they call it fishing and not catching for a reason!!!
I was using salted mullet. Only had 4 hooks on this time. I will try your prawn idea next
This drone has 2 holders so two lines can be put out at the same time. I cannot see how that would work without getting the lines tangled. It releases them both at the same time
i run 3 hooks but ive got a poor doer drone with 400gram lift capacity, sometimes i go all prawn others i use a combination
cuz different species eat different bait.
do you have the spendy lithium battery for your reel or just lug around a car battery?
Nah just you average 12v bike battery. Does the job. I have had this reel for 8 years now, never had a problem.
Not quite a “roam” as being a smaller dab of the “long white cloud” of Aotearoa.
A very good place to fish.
Roamed along that beach over half a century ago.
Not quite my back door.
The only place my father had reasonable success with his surf casting.
The olds retired nearby, where at there was a bit more infrastructure, like a wharf, a P.O. a Dr. & a few shops.
When that road was only metal, and the car had to fly the stones out to climb that steep pinch.
An original wild wind-blown west coach beach & no body else.
Nary a rudimentary bach, & now it has been subdivided, tarseal every where, & all built out in substantial dwellings, even has electricity.
Out your back door??
Ed, you do have a problem, don’t you!
Along way from home and lost. You had better ask the Mrs Ed to hold your hand and lead you back, to your motorhome and tuck you up in bed!
Looks like the Hokianga with smaller sand hills.
Aotea Harbour.
