Morning everyone, Blimy am I the first on the board this morning??????
I sincerely doubt that anyone standing for election this year is in it for us. The last few elections no one has been in it for us, by any stretch of the imagination they have all been in it for themselves. Troughing and new opportunities for their futures. . Just my thoughts on this blustery winters day from Hamilton. Have a great day out there and be careful, you never know and all that…….

Lizzie, in it for themselves. How true.

“National’s Mark Mitchell declared a holiday home he left off his initial return. That brings his total property holding to seven, meaning he owns as many properties as his leader Christopher Luxon, who owns the most property of any MP. He declared the home in a prior return but left it off his most recent one.”

Now how does a simple opposition MP on an average salary of about $165,000 get to have 7 properties?

In it for themselves, much.

I’m inclined to agree with Saggy, I think most well off people who go into politics do so because they think they can help run the place properly. I have no doubt Mitchell could make far more money outside of politics, but has chosen to help out. I’m not so sure it works out how they planned sometimes but at least they try as opposed to our current government which is run by a bunch of dodgily qualified university students who have never had a real job and have no idea how to manage money and are basically driven by ideology. I personally believe all politicians should have to run a business before they stand for office. There’s nothing like panicking about the wages, the gst, the tax bills, how to pay the rent, how to pay for the stock you need when you’re struggling to pay your creditors and a myriad of other wonderful things all leveraged off your house to help sharpen your wits.

I suspect that in the old days before video technology, the goal would have stood. I have played linesman on many occasions and getting the offside call is probably the hardest thing to get right as so often the players are moving backwards and forwards and you have to make a judgement based on exactly when the the ball was kicked and the position of both players at that exact moment.

It is only a matter of time before NZ grinds to a complete halt strangled by red tape & mad women of both sexes screaming about safety. I spent yesterday driving a truck & trailer moving fill being excavated from a private road reconstruction project. It’s so boring that I find myself daydreaming about watching grass grow but I got talking to the engineer in charge of the job & it turned out I’d met him thirty odd years ago. After we discussed mutual acquaintances, who should be killed & how they should die conversation turned to the useless bastards in the road coning industry.

He revealed that they get paid on average $1000 per day per vehicle, $6 per day for each road cone & $5 every time they shift the cone. Small wonder we have pot holes.

Look at the rear wheel/axle placement. It’s been pushed forward at least 75mm which will probably translate into a bent chassis member meaning the ute will be written off. comment image?format=pjpg&optimize=medium

Whetu Tirikatene-Sullivan had a good run- nearly thirty years. When she died she had a quick family only tangi, Willie Jackson became upset because she had broken Maori protocol. But Maori tangis can be exhausting affairs for the grieving family involved,
For example there is church at 7am and 7pm each day of the tangi. I think Whetu wanted to save her family all of the hassle, and the chance of an altercation arising given many politicians of different hues who’d have turned up

Decent enough chap. But daughter and hori son-in-law lived not far from my great-uncle so when he died the fucking hori in-laws popped right out of the bush, muscled in and and carted him off to the marae, despite the rather contrary wishes of the wider family, including my elderly grieving great-aunt. It was three days of ceremonial bullshit, drinking and feasting, all at my family’s considerable expense. I went for the service but refused to have anything to do with the rest of the ghastly affair. Fucking bastards.

Just hours before former Justice Minister Kiri Allan quit politics for good, an emotional Labour MP spoke out about her conduct, chiding the party for turning a blind eye.

During the meeting, a first-term MP was reportedly visibly emotional, telling colleagues: “We can’t pretend that we haven’t known about this for two years.”

She is not going through a bad patch. She is a bad patch. She treats people like shit and is a nasty piece of work. That is her nature and is not due to a mental health crisis.

Just out getting a bite to eat on my Honda Forza when this Thai guy flies past me on a Honda shit box step-thru with a monkey hanging off his head. Not a big monkey, but a monkey, nonetheless. 😂
