morning ysb folk, WA is certainly alot colder and wetter then when i left here late last month. supposed to warm up a tad bit more this week, its much like home at the mo except blue sky instead of eternal grey.
anyways i was awake early this morn and my mate was still snoring so i went for a wander in perth to find some coffee… homeless ferals everywhere, be 30-40 of them in my 20min walk about, mostly the dark type. then a young clack bunt high as a kite chasing cars screaming at them, another clack bunt seen the commotion and started barking and screaming across the street.
then a couple more emerged from various alleys and joined in, they were all barking, hand gesturing some bullshit then getting tough with each other. they scrammed all directions when some boozed homeless guy trying to fly a blanket started mumbling and heading their way.

The latest big win last week — seeing most of those race-based unelected appointments to local council committees removed — would never have happened without Don’s leadership and your support.
That means everything.

Watched “Clarkson’s Farm” (Season 5) last night. Jeremy went to The Netherlands to look at various farm technology. In the middle of a city Jeremy and Calab discovered a floating (automatic milking) dairy farm, attached to a small paddock (30 cows). The sewage problem was solved by desalinating sea water through all that shit to make fresh water for the herd. The solids were dealt with by recycling into useful products. That’s intriguing thinking if not suitable for NZ.
Worth a look for the entertainment value.
I enjoyed the quirky over the top escapades of Clarkson’s with his touch of arrogance, with what sometimes seemed to be ignorance, but knew not to underestimate him, in the motoring programs.

Once again National appears to be dragging its feet on an issue that should be straightforward.
If the Government’s position is that unelected representatives should not have voting rights around the council table, then that principle should apply everywhere, not everywhere except where it’s politically inconvenient.
New Zealanders expect consistency. Democracy means those with voting power should be accountable to voters at the ballot box. Creating special exceptions only undermines confidence in the system and raises questions about whether the Government is truly committed to democratic accountability.
The fact that pressure from the Taxpayers’ Union was needed just to get this issue reconsidered says it all. Ratepayers deserve equal representation and equal democratic standards, regardless of where they live or which group is involved.

But it raises another even more fundamental issue with voting. MMP and List candidates.
I’m happy we should have a proportional representation as that is representative of the population, but having list people who are essentially appointed by their parties to the top jobs is not representative of the voting population. e.g. findlayson as an example.
Having list Mp’s who are answerable to no one isn’t MMP either. It’s a rort and a gravy train.
