Pride in your nation, language and culture is one thing, but ethno-nationalism is quite another.
The trouble with learning an ethno-language is that native speakers are alarmed and troubled when someone from outside their in-group engages them in their language. They find it unsettling. English is not like that.
Speak English and the native speakers will love you.
Speak Mandarin and the native speakers will freak out.
Speak Te Reo and you will be accused of “cultural appropriation” or some other silly nonsense.
My father, though European, could speak Maori fluently but never advertised the fact nor did he hide it. He found it incredibly useful when doing business on the East Coast at a time when Maori spoke Te Reo in each others company.
The “freak out” comes as the realisation that what they have been saying wasn’t so confidential or arcane after all.
I went to a “Maori” primary school up north. From age 5, I was talking in maori to our Maori employees on the old mans sheep station (5600 acres). We had three families of them on the farm and I spent as much time with them as at home. The school had everything in Maori.
As time progressed, I lost the interest and didn’t see a need for it. Now I can understand some but am no longer fluent. I am sure this is the same for most Maori as well.
Similar to me. From 5 – 7YO I attended an East Coast Maori primary school & although English was spoken in class Maori ruled in the playground & after school hours. I could speak & understand it but only at a basic level.
I can still understand a bit but I wouldn’t now even attempt to hold a conversation in Maori. Nouns & verbs are easy but pronouns are a killer. I’ve been told that my pronunciation passes muster so maybe not all was wasted.
Here in NZ we need to take lessons from this.
It is fruitless for a minister to attack straight on to get things done in his ministry.

When I was Assistant Secretary of the Treasury, in one of the departments that reported to me was a senior executive civil service manager who came to work drunk daily. The department’s personnel said it was demoralizing.
I spoke with the source of trouble and found that he wasn’t interested in a paid leave to get himself back into performance mode.
I decided that I would have to fire him and found that to fire him I had for one year to assign him tasks, evaluate his performance of the tasks, go before a board and convince the board that he failed to perform the assigned tasks.
In other words, I would be completely distracted and used up in the effort it required for a presidential appointee to fire one non-performing and uncooperative senior civil servant.
To get rid of one non-performing civil servant would have drained my time and energy from the task that President Reagan assigned me.
I solved the problem by giving the position away to an administrative department in the Treasury that was glad to grow by one more person.

In the past I have used veterinary basics, but now it has become mixed & complicated.

One has about 10 minutes to start the process.
Hover cursor over the little cog wheel which is just below the post you want to alter
When it pops up “manage comment” then click on it.
Then a little drop box with the letter “E” is shown and slide cursor to there & click on that.
Sometimes one may have to do that a number of times, maybe because you are too fast, not direct line from “cog” to “E”
There is no countdown time, but if you have started with in 10 minutes, it seems to allow a few minutes more.
After 10 minutes the cog does not activate the “E” drop box, and a few minutes later even the cog is gone.
A refresh will then put you up to what time has actually passed, but best to get your changes done as soon as possible first.
Hopefully success, Practice it a few times.

This is how history gets rewritten, so we all need to pull her up on this and point out the distortion of events, which begins with her, and her strange but concerted campaign across the world to identify herself as a “kind and empathetic” leader.
It won’t go into the fact she was covering up the boyfriend’s drug use/dealing. The fact she weaponized the NZ Police against it’s own citizens, and they still do not have 1/4 of the respect they had before. The people that have died since receiving the mandated shot. The people that have lost their incomes and or businesses from illnesses from the shots. The businesses that were closed due to an over bearing government locking it’s citizens down.
