what i had planned was a return to nz for a few months but it has now turned into only a couple of weeks with the wifey and kids.
boss here is an A grade good bastard and short on staff so stupid boy has decided to avoid cold shitty southland winter and return to aussie for a couple more months work, be a bit more cruisy then the past month and a half but ill still earn a shitload more then i could back home.
i intend to return to aus for harvest too so probs end up here for over 6mnths of 2026 which i certainly wasnt expecting or planning on as little as 8 or 9wks ago. crazy how quick life changes!
now i have to resist the persistant efforts of boss and crew to move the family over here and go full time, not gunna happen… at least not till the kids finish school anyways.
so looks like im gunna have plenty of time in a tractor spreading thousands of ton of fert to keep you lot on your toes and do some ysb fishing 🤣 . might even be able to afford getting ripped off by having some curtains cleaned now im earning decent money!
first you would have to know what a decent curtain looked like, then actually have them in your bunker. I have no doubt you, with your grubby hands, your uncontrollable kids and their cats and dogs, parrots, pet lambs, piggies, etc., would be well able to get them covered in all manner of indescribable matter.
But we can still clean them despite your best efforts.

There was a power pole replaced about 70 metres down the street from us yesterday. First a team came down placing the obligatory road cones, 30km ph signs and stop & go signs. During the process the street was reduced to one lane over about 150 metres. The street is not busy and you could see the entirety of the single lane strip from each end. However it required two people with signs, one at each end to manage traffic flow. One was opposite us and spent most of his time spread out on top of the neighbours wall. The actual installation required another 4 workers mostly watching the guy with the crane lifting out the old pole and replacing with the new.

Meridian are a customer of mine and they are even worse than you could imagine. The huge solar farm they’re putting in in Ruakaka is apparently running well behind, when you see the people they employ this comes as no surprise. The local tribe get first dibs at most of the jobs – a high percentage of them look like something out of ad for why cousin marriages are a bad idea. The electrical engineers and other qualified staff are good but the management is an absolute joke.
