If we let people off for murder because of insanity, then bu logical extension we should let off manslaughter by motor vehicle when the offender was blind drink because he was not in control of his senses or actions. I don’t think so, Timmy.
Pleading for lenience or acquittal in a murder case because the murderer was insane at the time, and therefore not in control of his senses or actions, has as much merit of pleading lenience or acquittal on a drink drive manslaughter charge because said driver was blind drunk at the time and therefor not in control of his senses or actions.
In both cases, it was the thinking, attitudes, and emotions leading up to the actions that count. Failing to reign in dangerous thinking that results in undesirable outcomes should not be rewarded.
